La Juanda E. Barnes
Miss La Juanda Eugenia Barnes, 40, of Jefferson, died Monday, September 29, 2003, at Peachford Hospital in At-lanta.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, October 10, at Montgomery Heights Baptist Church.
Miss Barnes is survived by her father and step-mother, Gerald and Stella Barnes, Homer; three brothers, Gerald Barnes Jr., Blue Ridge, Jessie Barnes, Homer, and Kevin Barnes, Commerce; one step-brother, Ken Stone, Marietta; one sister, Tammy Bramlett, Homer; one step-sister, Angela Landry, Hiram; and several nieces and nephews.
Miss Barnes was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Ann Stone.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Banks County Senior Citizen's Center, P.O. Box 187, Homer, GA 30547.

Jerry W. Sears
Jerry Wallace Sears, 68, of Jefferson, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Born May 4, 1935, in Jackson County, Mr. Sears was a son of the late Lloyd and Annie Sue Lockman Sears.
He was a retired truck driver.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Academy Baptist Church Cemetery, Jefferson.
Mr. Sears is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann Wall Sears, Jefferson; two sons, Will Parham, Tampa, Fla., and Jamie Sears, Madison; five daughters, Kelly Bridgeman and Leigh Roling, both of Madison, Donna Huntsinger, Newnan, Robin Parham, Tampa, Fla., and Sherry Standridge, Commerce; three brothers, Joe Sears, Jefferson, Ray Sears, Homer, and Roy Sears, Commerce; four sisters, Martha Dean, Betty Fischer and Sylvia McDonald, all of Commerce, and Pat Williamson, Jefferson; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mary C. Waycaster
Mrs. Mary Charlotte Ramey Waycaster, 65, of Baldwin, died Thursday, October 2, 2003, at Emory University Hospital, Decatur, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Waycaster was born in Jackson County on August 15, 1938, to the late Charlie Young and Nellie Pansey Myers Ramey. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and cared for many patients in their home in the Habersham County area.
As a dedicated member of the Faith Tabernacle Full Gospel Church, Clarkesville, Mrs. Waycaster had not only served her local church and community, but also those in need of her service on the missionary field, having served in San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Croix, V.I., Jamaica and Saint Kits. She held her minister's license through the Worldwide Christian Fellowship Association in Clarkesville.
Mrs. Waycaster was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Waycaster, three brothers, Charlie, Royce and Morris Ramey, and a sister, Mildred Ramey Butler.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, at the Faith Tabernacle Full Gospel Church with the Revs. Paul and Lillian Waters, John and Maryland Waters and Eddie and Janice Sudderth officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens, Demorest.
Mrs. Waycaster is survived by her husband, William Alfred Waycaster, Baldwin; two sons, William Ricky Waycaster and Reggie Lee Waycaster, both of Baldwin; two sisters, Imogene Mills, Baldwin, and Ruby Keith, Hoschton; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

David A. Borrow
David A. Borrow, 73, of Cornelia, died Saturday, October 4, 2003, at his residence.
"David Borrow never met a stranger! He was the most enthusiastic and positive thinking person I've ever known," according to his wife, Sandy.
Mr. Borrow was born on March 20, 1930, son of William H. and Ella Binsley Borrow. Both of his parents passed away when he was three and he was raised by his maternal grandparents.
Upon graduation from high school, Mr. Borrow earned a football scholarship to Youngstown State University. Subsequent to his college graduation, he entered the military intelligence during the Korean War. With his return to civilian life, he completed a master's degree at Kent State University and began a career in education. He taught school and later became a school principal before joining Ginn and Company, a division of Xerox. Borrow's work in sales led to assignments in Boston, Chicago, Dallas and Atlanta, where he retired in 1980 as senior vice president.
The Borrow family determined that the corporate life of travel and relocation should be replaced by a family business. The McDonald's Corporation made this dream a reality by making a franchise available in Cornelia. The family presently owns and operates seven McDonald's in Northeast Georgia, Cornelia, Clayton, Toccoa, Cleveland, Hiawassee and Braselton.
An excellent teacher, stated family members, Mr. Borrow believed in the value of education and had great pride in his former employees who went on to become doctors, lawyers, teachers and business people. He was instrumental in locating the North Georgia Youth and Science Technology Center in Habersham County, and served several terms as a member of the Pioneer RESA Board.
Throughout his life, Mr. Borrow was active in community service. He served as president of Habersham County Chamber of Commerce, president of Habersham County United Way and president of Habersham County Rotary Club. He also served as a member of the board of the Tabor Automotive Group in Toccoa, a member of the board of directors of Community Bank and Trust and a member of the board of directors of Financial Supermarkets Inc. Since becoming a McDonald's owner and operator, Mr. Borrow had been active in the franchise group. He also held positions of leadership at the national, divisional and regional levels. An avid golfer, Mr. Borrow was a charter member of Country Club of the South and was a member of Cornelia United Methodist Church.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, at Cornelia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wayne Smith officiating.
Mr. Borrow is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandy Bailey Borrow, Cornelia; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Cam Roy, Duluth, and Susan and John Nichols, Clarkesville; son, John David Borrow, Cornelia; five grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen and Al Dailey, Arnold, Calif.; and his father-in-law, Don T. Bailey Sr., Salem, Ohio.
Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Borrow to the new Currahee Culinary Arts Building, now under construction in Toccoa, c/o North Georgia Technical College, P.O. Box 65, Clarkesville, GA 30523, or to a charity of one's choice.

Willie M. Alexander
Mrs. Willie Mae Crump Alexander, 87, of Baldwin, died Saturday, November 29, 2003, at a private nursing home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Franklin County on September 25, 1916. She was a daughter of the late Thomas Dave and Cara Gulley Crump.
Mrs. Alexander was a homemaker and a member of Baldwin Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel E. Alexander, and a brother, Roy Crump.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 1, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with the Rev. Mike Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Baldwin Cemetery.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Butch Martin, Baldwin; a sister, Christine Bone, Baldwin; a brother, Harold Crump, Baldwin; a grandson, Mike Williams; and two great-grandchildren.

Robert L. ‘Papa Coon’ Adams
Robert Lee “Papa Coon” Adams, 88, of Demorest, died Friday, November 28, 2003, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Born in Hall County on February 13, 1915, Mr. Adams was a son of the late Charlie and Fannie Shubert Adams.
He retired from Habersham Mills after 33 years of service and worked with the Woodmen of the World Rangers, where he met with them year round every Sunday. He also took them to the Woodmen Summer Camp for 23 years.
Mr. Adams was an avid fisherman, hunter and square dancer who also enjoyed working with youth. He was a member of Habersham Baptist Church. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smith Adams, eight brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 30, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. Chris York, Kenneth McEntire and Sammy Franklin officiating. Burial was in Habersham Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Josephine and Ernest Franklin, Demorest, and Wanda and Leonard Cagle, Gainesville; sister, Ruth House, Gillsville; grandson, Dale Franklin; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Anthony and Debra Franklin, Adam and Cindy Cagle and Casey and Marianne Cagle; great-grandchildren, Cole Franklin, Drew Franklin and Austin Cagle; and step-great-grandchildren, Dustin Pitts and Cari Pitts.

Augustus C. Moss
Augustus Carlyle Moss, 88, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at his home in Atlanta.
Mr. Moss was born January 29, 1915, in Banks County, the son of the late Roy and Nettie Boling Moss. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Helen Reynolds Moss, and a sister, Mazie Moss.
A graduate of Baldwin High School, Mr. Moss was a World War II veteran. He was awarded four campaign ribbons for action in Northern France, the Ardennes, the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland and Central Europe. He served 28 months in the United States Army.
Mr. Moss was a member of Skyland United Methodist Church of Atlanta, the United Methodist Men, AARP and the Banks County Historical Society. He worked four years for the Banks County Road Department, four years for the Agricultural Adjustment Administration and 35 years for Yancey Brothers Company, a Caterpillar tractor dealer in Atlanta.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 29, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Robert L. Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, LTC Thomas Carlyle Moss, U.S. Army (Ret.) and Dr. Vicky Baker Moss, Alexandria, Va.; granddaughter and husband, Beth Moss Burke and John Burke, Alexandria, Va.; granddaughter, Jenny Moss, Alexandria, Va.; brother-in-law, Howard Reynolds, Seal Beach, Calif.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Doris Reynolds Chapman and Dr. Harlan Chapman, Dalton; an aunt, Carrie Sanders Moss, Hollingsworth; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frances R. Venable
Mrs. Frances R. (Tass) (Granny) Venable, 75, of Bogart, formerly of Commerce, died Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at her residence of an extended illness.
Mrs. Venable was a retired child care provider in the Athens area and was a member of Princeton United Methodist Church, Athens. She was an active co-leader for Girl Scout Troop 2030 of Athens.
Mrs. Venable was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Venable, her mother, Bessie McGinnis Fuller, her father, Francis Marion Fuller, and a brother, Dickie Fuller.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 29, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Russell Reptske officiating. Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jolynn Venable Farley and James Farley, Athens; son, George S. Venable, Athens; granddaughter and husband, Tonya (Missy) Farley Wagner and Eric Wagner; grandson and wife, Michael Timothy Farley and Catherine Chambers Farley; great-granddaughter, Lacey Wagner; sister and brother-in-law, Karen Fuller Brookshaw and Gene Brookshaw, Birmingham, Ala.; two nephews and other numerous relatives and friends.

John F. Loudermilk
John Frank Loudermilk, 38, of Cornelia, died Sunday, November 30, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Loudermilk was born August 30, 1965, in Habersham County, to Mrs. Frankie Ferguson Loudermilk Henslee, Cornelia, and the late John P. Loudermilk.
He graduated from Habersham Central High School in 1983 and was employed as a meat cutter with Quality Foods. He was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church and a member of Cornelia Lodge #92 F & AM.
In addition to his father, Mr. Loudermilk was preceded in death by a brother, Mark P. Loudermilk.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Revs. Clyde Garrison and Verner London officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Masonic Graveside Rites by Cornelia Lodge #92 F & AM.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Connie Hix Loudermilk, Cornelia; and a daughter, Margaret Loudermilk, Cornelia.

Thelma D. Reed
Mrs. Thelma D. Reed, 93, of Commerce, died Sunday, November 23, 2003, at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, at Jones Chapel Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Bonnell Allen, Commerce, Geneva Rucker, Banks County, and Victoria Daniel, Nicholson; three sons, Samuel Reed and John Aubrey Reed, both of Commerce, and Robert Lee Reed, Homer; one sister, Alma Faulkner; 31 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
