Mrs. Sybil Francine Owens Moore, 85, of Maysville, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Lanier Park Campus, Gainesville.
A native of Banks County, Mrs. Moore was a daughter of the late Jimmy and Otha Westbrooks Owens.
She was a homemaker and a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 4, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Donald Tritt and Kelby Maxwell officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband, J.T. Moore, Maysville; sisters, Nanny Sue Brown, Panama City, Fla., and Mary Lou Knox, High Point, N.C.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joe and Jinner Moore, Maysville, and Kenneth and Sue Moore, Flowery Branch; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Aaron Cash, Chattanooga, Tenn., Barbara Sue and Benny Holcomb, Gillsville, Ruby and Wayne Abernathy, Lula, and Reba and Ray Aiken, Maysville.

Corry O. Sullivan
Mrs. Corry Olee Porter Sullivan, 87, of Commerce, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at a private healthcare facility following an extended illness.
Born in Commerce on May 9, 1917, Mrs. Sullivan was a daughter of the late Columbus B. and Molly Edwards Porter.
She lived in Cornelia most of her adult life and was the widow of W.R. “Bob” Sullivan, who was the former president and co-owner of Cornelia Tire Company. Prior to December, 2000, Mrs. Sullivan lived in her home that she loved dearly on Maple Street in Cornelia. She retired in 1980 from Chicopee, Lumite Division, Cornelia, as an inspector, after 33 years of service. She was a member and past president of the Cornelia Lioness Club and was a member of Cornelia First Baptist Church, where she was active in Sunday School, WMU and the Sharing and Caring Place before her illness.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Porter and Jake Porter, one sister, Edna Mae Benton, and two nieces, Lanelle Benton and Nancy Benton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at Cornelia First Baptist Church with Dr. T. Logan Smith officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Wynette and Tom Hallford, Loganville; sister, Mary Lou Hardy, Commerce; sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Ann and Dr. Duard Baxter, Winder; brother and sister-in-law, Hoyt E. and Narcissus “Sis” Porter, Snellville; grandson, Mitch Hallford, Virginia Beach, Va.; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeff and Sandra Hallford, Snellville; step-great-grandson and wife, Tommy and Jody Hendrix, Roanoke, Va.; and seven nieces and seven nephews.

Joyce C. Bangs
Ms. Joyce Carrie Ione Bangs, 75, of Mt. Airy, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Habersham County Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Ms. Bangs was born January 18, 1929, in Milwaulkee, Wis. She was a former special education teacher with Lumpkin County Training Center and enjoyed raising doves. She was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Burton, Mt. Airy; a son, Keith Bangs, Homer; brothers, Paul Thorup and Dale Thorup, both of Kansas City, Mo.; sister, Eunice Thorup, Florida; and 12 grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time.

Eula M. Crocker
Mrs. Eula Mae Crocker, 94, of Commerce, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Athens, of an extended illness.
Mrs. Crocker was the daughter of the late Hubert and Bessie Pruitt Leach, and the wife of the late Herman Young (Brud) Crocker. She was preceded in death by a son, Fred J. Crocker.
Mrs. Crocker retired from Harmony Grove Mill, Commerce, after 57 years of service.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 6, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Kent Cranford officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Crocker Osborn, Homer, and Judy Crocker Hall, Great Falls, Va.; three grandchildren, Julie Hall Perry, Atlanta, Todd S. Hall, Reston, Va., and Erlene Osborn Stowe, Homer; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Doris L. Wheelis
Mrs. Doris Lynnette Aaron Wheelis, 85, of 119 Wheelis Road, Athens, died at her residence Thursday, June 3, 2004.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at New Covenant Worship Center, Athens, with the Rev. Bill Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the Crooked Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Wheelis is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Eileen and David Bray and Nancy and Jerry Harrell, all of Athens; six grandchildren and their spouses, Russell and Jennifer Harrell, Anderson, S.C., Dan and Carol Harrell and Renea and Dan Anderson, all of Athens, Randy and Rhonda Fortson, Fredricksburg, Va., and Wade and Janet Bray and Carol and Chris Brock, all of Homer; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wheelis was preceded in death by her parents, William Russell and Nancy Threlkeld Aaron, and her husband, Crawford Lee Wheelis.

Phillip D. Wood
Phillip D. Wood, 83, of Commerce, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at St. Mary’s Longterm Care Center.
Mr. Wood was born in Madison County on February 22, 1921, a son of the late Elmer George and Willie Katherine McGinnis Wood.
A retired poultry farmer, Mr. Wood was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army. He was a member of Berea Baptist Church, Commerce.
Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jo Sorrow Wood.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 7, in the Berea Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Don Blalock and Curtis Dorsey officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Byrd and Phyllis Chandler, both of Commerce; one brother, Henry Ford Wood, Commerce; two sisters, Betty Bolton and Rachel Hawks, both of Commerce; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Sarah M. Embrick
Mrs. Sarah Miller Embrick, 59, of Jefferson, died Monday, June 7, 2004, of a sudden illness.
Born in Winnsboro, S.C., Mrs. Embrick was a daughter of L.C. Miller, Hull, and the late Gladys Legrand Harris, and the step-daughter of Mozelle Miller, Hull.
She was a homemaker and a member of Brockton Road Baptist Church. Mrs. Embrick was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Embrick.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Revs. Doug Merck and Jesse Mealor officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors, in addition to her father and step-mother, include one daughter, Janice Sanders, Maysville; two sons, Jerry Childs, Jefferson, and Keith Childs, Commerce; two sisters, Irene Embrick, Commerce, and Nancy Coile, Nicholson; one half-sister, Terry Baxley, West Columbia, S.C.; one brother, Tommy Miller, Commerce; one half-brother, Charles “Bubba” Miller, West Columbia, S.C.; and three grandchildren, Haley and Lauren Sanders and Tyler Childs.

Pamela B. Halbrook
Mrs. Pamela Brooks Halbrook, 35, of Cornelia, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at Habersham County Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Halbrook was born in Columbus, Miss., on February 13, 1969. She was a volunteer for Church Ministries at New Vision Worship Center, where she was a member.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, June 10, at New Vision Worship Center with the Revs. Bobby Griffin and Lanier Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Halbrook is survived by her husband, Mike Halbrook, Cornelia; daughters, Amy Broom and Kayla Broom, both of Cornelia; son, Josh Broom, Cornelia; her parents, Albert and Sylvia Jones Brooks, Cleveland; brother, Eddie Brooks, Montana; sisters, Wanda Grigsby, Dawsonville, and Becky Markiezwich, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family is at the residence and was to have received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia.

Thomas A. Scott
Thomas A. Scott, 87, of Clarkesville, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at his residence.
Mr. Scott was born May 8, 1917, in Thomas County. He was a son of the late Thomas Arthur Sr. and Sallie Mae McCullar Scott.
Mr. Scott was a retired pilot, having served in the Civil Service for the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a flight instructor and a retired director of the Albert Whitted Airport in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Minerva Vanhouten Scott.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with Pastor David Crowe officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Sallie Sue Flannigan, Clarkesville, and Janice Gail Scott, Tallahassee, Fla.; one son, Dennis Charles Scott, Clarkesville; one sister, Jane Coleman, Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Charles Scott, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Michael Handley, Crystal River, Fla.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Kirby Patterson
Robert Kirby Patterson, of Chestnut Ridge Nursing Home, Cumming, died Monday, May 31, 2004, at his residence where he had resided for the past three years.
Born July 12, 1924, in Franklin County, Mr. Patterson was a son of the late Robert Marion “Bob” and Beatrice Wilmot Patterson.
A retired automobile sales manager in Houston, Texas, Mr. Patterson had owned Hudson and Kaiser-Fraizer auto dealerships in Globe-Miami, Ariz. He was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by a son, Lee Patterson, three sisters, Inez Verner, Arlie Vaughan and Cleo Ryan, and a brother, Claude J. Patterson.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Indian Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Stacey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Patterson is survived by his wife, Magda Bernhardt Patterson, Cumming; son, Roger Patterson, Carnesville; sister, Margaret Patterson, Gainesville; brothers, Marvin E. Patterson, Monticello, and Grayson M. Patterson, Oakwood; daughter-in-law, Joan Barmore Patterson; grandchildren, Mark and Jeff Patterson, Orangeville, Ill., Sharon Schaefer, Dandridge, Tenn., and Nicole Patterson, Bradendon, Fla.; and four great-grandchildren.
