HOMER - Mrs. Mary Emma McCoy, 64, died Wednesday, August 11, 1999, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Jackson, Miss., Mrs. McCoy was born December 12, 1934. She was a daughter of the late John Early and Frankie Hudson Summerlin.
Mrs. McCoy worked as a sewing machine operator.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include one son, Donnie McCoy, Homer; one daughter, Samantha Parr, Homer; seven brothers, Louie Hale, Jackson, Miss., Capers Summerlin, Takoma, Wash., George Summerlin, Prentis, Miss., Jackie Summerlin, California, John Summerlin, Idaho, Marvin Summerlin, Baton Rouge, La., and Tommy Summerlin, Oceanside, Calif.; two sisters, Helen Summerlin, Pearl, Miss., and Myrtis White, Prentis, Miss.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

COMMERCE - James D. Chesser Jr., 67, died Thursday, August 12, 1999, in Athens.
Mr. Chesser served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Boxer and was retired from Delta Airlines.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 16, at H.M. Patterson & Son Oglethorpe Chapel, Atlanta. Burial was in Westview Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Chesser; one son, Ronald J. Chesser; daughter and son-in-law, Wynell and Jim Rippe; his mother, Wynell Plunkett; sister and husband, Maudenia and Dr. William A. Reid; two grandchildren, Courtney and Joel Chesser; and other relatives.

MAYSVILLE - Charlie Edward Kennedy, 57, died Sunday, August 15, 1999, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following an extended illness.
A native of Cordele, Mr. Kennedy was born April 13, 1942. He was a son of Mary Sego Speight, Maysville, and the late Charlie L. Kennedy.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, a member of Local #926 Operating Engineers and of Local #302 Seattle Washington.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 17, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Ron Glaze and James Richter officiating. Burial was in Banks County Memorial Gardens, Homer.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one son, Chuck Kennedy, Dallas; two daughters, Stephanie Kennedy and Vickie Logan, both of Dallas; two brothers, L.J. Kennedy, Crescent City, Fla., and Ronald Oshs, Maysville; two sisters, Dorothy Smith, Monroe, and Evelyn Tomlin, Jonesboro; and one grandchild.

MAYSVILLE - Miss Jeanette Redmon, 76, died Friday, August 13, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Banks County, Miss Redmon was born November 11, 1922. She was a daughter of the late Wiley and Lena Baker Redmon.
Miss Redmon was a homemaker and a member of Grove Level Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 15, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Jeff Appling, Swayne Carlan and Paul King officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include four sisters, Ruby Bales, Josephine Carlan, Imogine Redmon and Viola Redmon, all of Maysville.

LULA - Mrs. Kathie Faye Williams Bates, 49, died Monday, August 16, 1999, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Bates was born February 1, 1950 in California. She was a daughter of Willard Williams, New Boston, Texas, and the late Ivorene Collins Williams.
Mrs. Bates was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 19, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. Melvin Baugh officiating. Burial will be in the Whitehall Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to her father, include her husband, Billy Ray Bates; son and daughter-in-law, Willard and Rebecca Bates, Lawrenceville; one brother, Williard T. Williams, Armore, Okla.; two sisters, Willa Wriand, Vacaville, Calif., and Iddene Sullivan, California; father and mother-in-law, Wilburn and Viola Bates, Lula; and one grandson, Dalton Bates, California.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the funeral home.

MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Eula Lowery Abbott, 94, died Tuesday, August 10, 1999, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Mrs. Abbott was born July 2, 1905 in Telfair County. She was a daughter of the late Lawrence Edney Lowery.
Mrs. Abbott was a registered nurse and was a member of Oconee Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Walter Abbott.
Graveside services were held Thursday, August 12, at Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville, with the Rev. Barry Johnson officiating.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Smith, Maysville; one sister, Ella Strickland, Thompson; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

CARNESVILLE - Mrs. Mary Whiten Brazier, 81, died Saturday, August 14, 1999, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Brazier was born February 14, 1918 in Franklin County. She was a daughter of the late Clero and Myrtie Edna McWhorter Whiten.
Mrs. Brazier served as an administrative secretary to several directors of the U.S. Army and Navy and served as secretary to the director of the Navy Uniform Board. She was also the administrative secretary to General George C. Marshall during World War II and during the Marshall Plan. Mrs. Brazier received many commendations during her government service. She retired to Daytona Beach, Fla., in 1973 and was a resident of Carnesville since 1994. Mrs. Brazier was a member of Fairview Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 17, at the B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Revs. Rebecca Holmes, Jack Lamb, Dennis Kesler and Roger McCoy officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday, August 19, at the Zebulon Methodist Cemetery, Zebulon.
Survivors include her husband, William Earle Brazier; one son, David Brazier, Cumming; one brother, Dan Whiten, Carnesville; one sister, Edith Whiten, Carnesville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

MONROE - Mrs. Lessie Mae Hull, 84, died Wednesday, August 11, 1999, at Park Place Nursing Facility.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Hull was a daughter of the late Mark James and Eula Dills James.
She was a retiree of the Robinson-Humphrey Company, Atlanta, and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Banks County. Mrs. Hull was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard F. Hull.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Arthur Bowick Funeral Home, Monroe, with the Rev. Greg Butler officiating. Burial was in Crestlawn Memorial Park, Atlanta.
Survivors include one sister, Rosa James Nunnally, Monroe; one brother, Douglas James, Canon; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

HARTWELL - Fred Beck, 87, died Thursday, August 12, 1999, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gainesville, Mr. Beck was born October 31, 1911. He was a son of the late Frank and Mary Flanagin Beck.
Mr. Beck had worked in the textile industry, employed with Harmony Grove Mills.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Kenneth Dillard and Sam Dorsey officiating. Burial was in the Cabin Creek Baptist Church cemetery, Commerce.

GAINESVILLE - Phillip Boyd Crane died Sunday, August 8, 1999, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mr. Crane was born in Jackson County, but had lived in Hall County for a number of years. He was a son of Sidney and Grace Crane, Maysville.
Mr. Crane was a U.S. Army veteran and served as president of the Clay-Hyder Trucking Company. Mr. Crane was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 11, at Grove Level Baptist Church with the Revs. Jeff Appling and Jim Austin officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Sandra York Crane; daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Randy Martin, Gainesville, and Cecilia and Jason James, Flowery Branch; daughters, Pam York, Jacksonville, Fla., and Patty York Sullens, Gainesville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and James Cantrell, Gainesville, Nancy and Larry Williams, Maysville, Cathy and Tony Dubnik, Talmo, and Lisa and Danny Sims, Lula; and grandchildren, Siarrah Sullens, Blake Martin and Luke and Mallory James.
