Joe W. Russell
Joe William Russell, 81, of Comer, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston.
Mr. Russell was born May 8, 1918, in Madison County. He was a son of the late Jim and Essie Lee Cooper Russell.
Mr. Russell was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the 41st Cavalry during World War II. He also fought at the Battle of the Bulge and was a corporal technician under the command of General Patton.
Mr. Russell was a carpenter, farmer and a member of Vineyards Creek Baptist Church. He was also a member of Woodmen of the World.
Mr. Russell was preceded in death by a grandson, Ricky Herring, four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 6, at Vineyards Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Ray Jenkins and Glenn Guest officiating. Burial was in the New Hope Presbyterian Church cemetery. Huerlan Russell, Knox Wayne Russell, Steve Russell, Crawford Dove, Danny Martin and Ed Miller served as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen B. Russell; three sons, Roy Russell, Tony Russell and Jody Russell, all of Comer; one daughter, Willie Mae Herring, Comer; five step-sons, Dallas B. Greer, Brunson, S.C., Frank Greer, William W. Greer and Larry E. Greer, all of Anderson, S.C., and John L. Greer, Milledgeville; one sister, Mozelle Wells, Elberton; two brothers, John Russell and Tom Coile Russell, both of Comer; nine grandchildren, 16 step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.

Adell W. Dove
Mrs. Adell Walker Dove, 91, of Royston, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Brown Memorial Convalescent Center, Royston.
Mrs. Dove was born June 8, 1908, in Franklin County. She was a daughter of the late R.W. and Jane Reed Walker.
Mrs. Dove was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Congregational Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Delcie Royston, and a granddaughter, Karen Dove.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 5, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and James Gunn officiating. Burial was in the Salem Church cemetery. Randy Royston, Mark Pinson, Chris Pinson, Kevin Dove, Ronny Dove and Ricky Smith served as pallbearers.
Survivors include her husband, Dock Elmer Dove; three sons, Buddy Dove and Herman Dove, both of Danielsville, and Johnny Dove, Royston; two daughters, Hollis Wadine Spratlin, Athens, and Bonnie Pinson, Snellville; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pruitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Sallie J. Martin
Mrs. Sallie Jessie Holloway Martin, 89, of the Brown Memorial Convalescent Cen-ter, formerly of Danielsville, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Cobb Memorial Hospital, Royston.
Mrs. Martin was born September 28, 1910, in Hart County. She was a daughter of the late Jasper Newton and Cannie Manley Holloway.
Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and a member of the Springs of Life Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.T. Martin Jr., three brothers, S.T. Holloway, Otis Holloway and Grady Holloway, and three sisters, Allie Brown, Polly Boleman and Dell Elgin.
Mrs. Martin was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 9, at New Hope Congregational Holiness Church with Pastor G.C. McCurry and the Revs. Morris Sapp and Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Martin's grandsons served as pallbearers.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Hayes, Danielsville, and Hendell McCollum and Frances Williams, both of Royston; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.

Dennis Hill
Dennis Hill, 51, of Maysville, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mr. Hill was born August 14, 1948, in Hall County. He was a son of Mary Frances Martin Hill, Maysville, and the late Don L. Hill.
Mr. Hill was self-employed in maintenance and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Brian Stowe officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville. David Reynolds, Ben Hopkins, William Austin, James Scroggs, Eddie Pruitt, Emory Merk and Larry Presley served as pallbearers.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one daughter, Sharon Denise Hill, Gainesville; and one brother, Steve Hill, Hull.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Harold S. Swindle
Harold S. Swindle, 83, of Nicholson, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at his residence.
A native of Madison County, Mr. Swindle was a son of the late Tilman and Nellia Adams Swindle.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a retired poultry farmer. Mr. Swindle was a member of Nicholson Baptist Church and had attended New Hope Baptist Church. He was also a member of Hudson Lodge #294 F&AM.
Mr. Swindle served as Democratic Committeeman for Jackson County, Justice of the Peace and as Mayor of Nicholson for 18 years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 10, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Ervin Goss, Mike Stowers and Robert Nash officiating. Burial was in the Nicholson Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Tee Coleman Swindle; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Jackie Swindle, Nicholson; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Jack Pirkle, Clermont; sister and brother-in-law, Sybil and Herbert Barnett, Nicholson; grandsons and wives, Keith and Jenny Swindle and Tim and Jill Swindle, all of Nicholson; grandchildren, Toby Swindle, Nicholson, and Ashley, Allison and Shawn Pirkle, all of Clermont; and four great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Court-ney, Shayla and Zack, all of Nicholson.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Daniel J. Fazekas
Daniel Joseph Fazekas, 56, of Bogart, died Thursday, May 4, 2000.
Mr. Fazekas was born in Virginia, a son of the late Paul and Elizabeth Escoe Fazekas.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1972 and worked as a risk manager for Wal-Mart. Mr. Fazekas was a member of the International Church of Christ, Athens, and was a retired state director for Loyal Order of the Moose.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West, with the Rev. Sonny Sessions officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Fazekas; three daughters, Lisa Slusher, Hull, Katherine Gee, Colbert, and Amanda Wallace, Cartersville; four sons, Paul Fazekas, Phoenix, Ariz., Andy Fazekas, Commerce, and Scott Nunnally and Travis Nunnally, both of Bogart; two sisters, Mary Scott, Kentucky, and Betty Hanson, Connecticut; 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Moose Heart and Moose Haven, 2011 Monroe Hwy., Bogart, GA 30622.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, West, was in charge of arrangements.

Lucy C. Stewart
Mrs. Lucy Cornelia Phillips Wilburn Stewart, 74, of Clayton, died Sunday, May 7, 2000.
Mrs. Stewart was born in Madison County, a daughter of the late Otis and Ruth Watson Phillips.
She was a former teacher and had been employed with Champion Clothing Store. Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her first husband, J.B. Wilburn, and her second husband, Edward Stewart.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 9, at Collier Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Smith and Ray Jenkins officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gar-dens.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Kelley, Comer; one son, Johnny Wilburn, Homer; two step-daughters, Marinell Hettrick, Athens, and Susan Williams, Hull; two step-sons, William Stewart, Monticello, and David Stewart, Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Jean Williams, Commerce; and one grandson, Troy Wilburn.
Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.

Bobbie N. MacLachlan
Mrs. Bobbie Nell MacLach-lan, 78, of Cramerton, N.C., died Thursday, May 4, 2000.
Mrs. MacLachlan was born in Madison County to the late Herbert L. and Janie Reid Bullock.
She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist denomination. Mrs. MacLachlan was preceded in death by a son, Reece Smith.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 7, in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville. Burial was in Hull Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Carter, Westchester, Calif.; three brothers, Copeland Bullock, Jefferson, Reid Bullock, Belmont, N.C., and Ralph Bullock, Yermo, Calif.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Brown Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. CLARK
Mountain Creek Baptist member
JEFFERSON - Michael Shane Clark, 40, died Sunday, February 20, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following a sudden illness.
Mr. Clark was born March 10, 1959, in Barrow County. He was a son of Willie and Gloria "Priss" Clark, Jefferson.
Mr. Clark was co-owner of Brothers and Sons Vending Company and was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, Pendergrass.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 22, at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Stan Hopwood and Myron Leckie officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Tim Brooks, Jeff McNeal, Alan Berryman, Lonnie Jones, Jerry Banks and Ronnie Wilson served as pallbearers.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Rhonda Stancil Clark; two sons, Derek Allen Clark and Dustin Shane Clark, both of Jefferson; and two brothers, Mitchell Clark, Hoschton, and Marty Clark, Jefferson.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. HANSFORD
Clarke County native
JEFFERSON - Phillip Hansford Jr., 46, died Sunday, February 20, 2000.
Mr. Hansford was born in Clarke County, a son of the late Phillip and Dorothy Sorrow Hansford.
He was of the Baptist denomination.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, February 23, in the Friendship Baptist Church cemetery with Wesley Edwards officiating.
Mr. Hansford is survived by two sisters, Vicky Moore, Walhalla, S.C., and Sandra Gail Plunkett, Buford; and one brother, Bobby Hansford, Jefferson.
Brown Funeral Home, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.
