MRS. HOLLIS
Homemaker
PENDERGRASS - Mrs. Annie Maude Hollis, 83, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mrs. Hollis was born September 8, 1916, in Lumpkin County. She was a daughter of the late Arthur and Azalee Sheffield Crane.
Mrs. Hollis was a homemaker and was a member of Pond Fork Baptist Church, Pendergrass. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.J. Hollis, a son, Stanley Hollis, and a daughter, Jean Evans.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at Pond Fork Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Knight and Terry Poole officiating. The body will lie in state from 1:30 until 2 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Irene Funderburk, Pendergrass, Betty Hamilton, Maysville, Judy Owens, Jefferson, and Debbie Poole, Gainesville; four sons, J.D. Hollis, Stephens, and Hoyt Hollis, Jimmy Hollis and Danny Hollis, all of Pendergrass; 31 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pond Fork Baptist Church Building Fund, 2615 Pond Fork Church Road, Pendergrass, GA 30567.
Jackson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MRS. FOWLER
Homemaker
BRASELTON - Mrs. Lora Jennens Fowler, 70, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Fowler was born in Cherokee County, a daughter of the late Willie Mae Anderson and Grady Jennens.
She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Baptist Church, Braselton. Mrs. Fowler was preceded in death by her husband, William Fowler.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Phillips officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Lavern Burks, Braselton, and Wanda Lafauvre, Kissimmee, Fla.; three sisters, Mae Streerman, Mancheaster, and Jean Davis and Betty Waters, both of Gillsville; two brothers, Alfred Jennens, Okechobee, Fla., and John L. Jennens, Ila; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. WATKINS
Madison County native
NICHOLSON - Robert Johnson Watkins, 69, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Watkins was born July 1, 1930, in Madison County. He was a son of the late Ferd and Ruby Jarrett Watkins.
Mr. Watkins was retired from Barnett Trucking.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 16, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Allen Seagraves officiating. Burial was in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Martin Watkins; two sons, Keith Watkins, Nicholson, and Randy Watkins, Commerce; three daughters, Barbara Lester, Kay Richardson and Lynn Watkins, all of Nicholson; one brother, A.J. Watkins, Hull; one sister, Marcline Howington, Nicholson; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. MORGAN
Farmer
COMMERCE - Thomas J. Morgan, 52, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000.
Mr. Morgan was born November 16, 1947. He was a son of Mary Nell Morgan, Lavonia, and the late Bud Morgan.
Mr. Morgan was a farmer and raised cattle.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Janet Evans Morgan; two sons, Jeff Morgan, Miami, Fla., and Tommy Morgan, Commerce; four daughters, Angela McKee, Tallahassee, Fla., Amanda and Melinda Morgan, both of Commerce, and Lisa Morgan, Colbert; one brother, Larry Morgan, Lakeland, Fla.; four sisters, Clara Lou Carol, Alabama, Mary Ann Ogletree, Commerce, and Debra Shook, Lavonia; and 12 grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. BABCOCK
World War II veteran
PENDERGRASS - Richard Crispin Babcock, 78, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Babcock was born February 19, 1922 in Elmira, N.Y. He was a son of the late Walter L. and Georgianna Crispin Babcock.
Mr. Babcock was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps, and was retired from the Westinghouse Corporation.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, at Holly Springs United Methodist Church with the Revs. Robert Lewis, Ray L'Amoreaux, David Cornelius and Robert Cornelius officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Babcock's grandsons served as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Peer Babcock; three daughters, Suzanne L'Amoreaux, Goodyear, Ariz., Dorothy Lewis, Pendergrass, and Donna Cornelius, Toccoa; one sister, Edna Kenny, Syracause, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.

MISS EVANS
Beaverdam Baptist Church member
COMMERCE - Miss Lula Louise Evans, 82, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce.
Miss Evans was born January 1, 1918, in Franklin County. She was a daughter of the late Claude and Renie Hart Evans.
Miss Evans was a homemaker and a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 17, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. David Friend and Bill Manus officiating. Burial was in the Trinity Methodist Church cemetery, Royston.
Miss Evans is survived by three brothers, Carlton Evans, Samuel "Tumpy" Evans and Stewart Evans, all of Commerce; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. CARTER
U.S. Army veteran
Robert W. "Bob" Carter, 62, died Monday, May 8, 2000.
Mr. Carter was born in Bibb County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring from Robins Air Force Base.
Mr. Carter was currently employed with Tattnall Square Academy and was a member of Wesleyan Drive Baptist Church, Macon, where he was a member of the Fellowship Men's Sunday School class. He coached Macon Little League and was an organizer of the North Macon Little League Association.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 10, at Wesleyan Drive Baptist Church. Burial was in Macon Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Bet" Carter; children, Wanda Morrison, Lizella, and Toyna Vaughan, Roberta; step-daughter, Sucee Daniell, Macon; step-son, Billy Daniell, Tybee Island; sister, Donna E. Bone, Commerce; brothers, Carl W. Carter, Macon, and C. Lamar Carter, Midway; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MRS. BRAY
Banks County native
CRAWFORD - Mrs. Lorine K. Bray, 93, died Saturday, May 13, 2000.
A native of Banks County, Mrs. Bray was a daughter of the late Sam and Nezzie Martin Kitchens.
She was a retiree of Jefferson Mills and was a member of Crawford Pentecostal Church for 61 years. Mrs. Bray was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Berlin Bray, and five sons, Dorsey Bray, Seneca Bray, James Bray, Norman Bray and Vernon Bray.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 16, at Crawford Pentecostal Church with the Rev. B.G. Miller officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Mrs. Bray's grandsons served as pallbearers.
Survivors include one daughter, Catherine Stowe, Monroe; four sons, Lewis Miller and Billy Bray, both of Athens, Ferrell Bray, Flowery Branch, and Larry Bray, Comer; 46 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Oglethorpe Chapel, Crawford, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. LEDFORD
U.S. Army veteran
COMMERCE - Clomer Lamar "Slim" Ledford, 78, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Lanier Park Hospital, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mr. Ledford was a native of Jackson County. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, and also served in the Air National Guard. Mr. Ledford was retired from General Motors and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Madison County.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 19, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the Talmo Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Ethelene Myers Ledford; one son, Brandon Lamar Ledford, Commerce; two brothers, Charlie Ledford, Gillsville, and Franklin Ledford, Talmo; two sisters, Cynthia Mae Shelton and Ollie Jane Ledford, both of Talmo; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Ward's Funeral Home, Gainesville, and will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce.
Ward's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MR. FLOYD

DANIELSVILLE - Roy Junior Floyd, 64, died Thursday, May 11, 2000.
A lifelong resident of Madison County, Mr. Floyd was a son of the late Roy Malone and Mary Francine Martin Floyd.
He retired from Holsolm Bakery in Athens, and was later employed with Dixie Leisure, Comer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 13, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Rev. Buford Lockman officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Floyd; one daughter, Pamela D. Floyd, Danielsville; one son, Luther D. Floyd, Bon Aqua, Tenn.; three sisters, Mary Scarborough and Lucille Phillips, both of Danielsville, and Betty Biles, Dillsburg, Pa.; two brothers, William Floyd, Harrisburg, Pa., and Larry "Buddy" Floyd, Commerce; and three grandchildren.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
