Graveside services for Gene Anderson of Lumber City were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Oakgrove Cemetery in McRae.

Anderson, 91, died Sunday, March 30, 2003. A native of Telfair County, was the son of the late Warren Marion and Cora Allen Anderson, the widower of Margaret Alice Anderson and was a carpenter.
Survivors include his step mother; Clyde Perry of Bradenton, Fla.; daughter, Penny Thigpen of Lumber City; sons, Jerry Anderson and Gerald Anderson of Hazlehurst; sisters, Exie Lee Clements of Lumber City, Susie Henderson and Mary Frisk of Palmetto, Fla., and Edith Deas of Lake Park, Fla., four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and a host of nieces and nephews.

Ida P. Cameron
Services for Ida P. Cameron of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 7, at Sandhill United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Cameron, 97, died Saturday, April 5, 2003. A lifelong resident of Telfair County, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas “G.T.” and Nellie Vickery Phillips. She was a lifelong member of Sandhill United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She was the widow of Virgil Carl Cameron and was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred Cameron.
Survivors include her sons, Pete Cameron of Milan and Bill Cameron of McRae; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Clyde L. Dopson
Services for Clyde L. Dopson of Jacksonville, Ga. were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment at Telfair Memorial Gardens.

Dopson, 70, died Sunday, April 6, 2003 at Tift Regional Hospital in Tifton. The son of the late John Edward Dopson, Sr. and Doris Lowe Dopson, he was a retired Lt. Col. from the United States Army Reserves. He was president of J.E. Dopson & Sons, Inc. of Jacksonville and a member of Jacksonville Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Nealy B. Dopson of Jacksonville; daughters, Julie L. Dopson of Rossville and Christy D. Sapp of Jacksonville, Ga.; brother, John E. Dopson, Jr. of Jacksonville; two grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Thomas “Tommy” Everett Kinchen
Services for Thomas “Tommy” Everett Kinchen of Alamo were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in Alamo City Cemetery.

Kinchen, 58, died Thursday, April 3, 2003. He was a life-long resident of Wheeler County and the son of Wiley and Frances Kinchen of Alamo. He was a retired mechanic and member of Alamo Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his wife, Jeanette Kinchen of Alamo; daughters, Tina Marie Kinchen and Tammy Elaine Hartley, both of Alamo; brother, William Kinchen of Alberque, N.M.; and two grandchildren.

Rubye Davis Williams
Services for Rubye Davis Williams of Milan were held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 4, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Williams, 96, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003. A native of Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas T. and Mamie Gross Davis and was the widow of Dave M. Williams. A former schoolteacher and a homemaker, she was a member of the Milan United Methodist Church and was a graduate of South Georgia College and attended GSCW.
Survivors include her children, Gene Williams of Milan, Grady Williams of McRae, Sheila W. Cook of McRae, and David Williams of Milan; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services for Warren Pate Brewer of Lumber City were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with interment in Riverside Cemetery in Lumber City.

Brewer, 79, died Monday, March 24, 2003 in Brian Center Nursing Care. He was the son of the late Fred and Susie Smith Brewer and widower of Grace Brewer. A lifelong resident of Telfair County, he was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army, a retired barber, a member of Lumber City United Methodist Church and Lumber City Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his daughters, Phyllis Walters of Lumber City and Faye Ouzts of St. Augustine, Fla.; sister, Juenell Powell of Opelika, Ala., three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Page, 87, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 in the Jeff Davis Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Grady and Gladys Wright Funderburk and widow of Elton Page. A native of Wheeler County, she resided in Telfair County for several years, she was a member of Lumber City Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Alice Rowland of Warner Robins and Joyce Murray of Byron; sons, Samuel Lowell Page of Hazlehurst and LeRoy Page of Lumber City, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services for Daniel William “D.W.” Selph of McRae were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the McRae First Baptist Church with interment in the Telfair Memorial Gardens.

Selph, 70, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003. He was the son of the late Ben and
Mary Jane White Selph. A native of Dodge County, he had lived in Telfair for many years. He was a member of McRae First Baptist Church, a self-employed car dealer for 33 years, past member of the Lions Club, a member of Masonic Lodge 536 of Helena, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a Shriner and a member of Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include his wife, Joann Lowie Selph of McRae; son, Larry F. Selph of Helena; daughter, Sandra S. “Lulu” McNeal; brothers, James F. Selph of Milan and Julius B. Selph of Cochran, and three grandchildren.

Wilcox, 76, died, Monday, March 24, 2003 at his residence. He was the son of the late Oscar and Willa Eady Wilcox. A native of Telfair County, he was retired from Amoco Fabrics/Hazlehurst Mills.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Wilcox of Helena; daughters, Harley Simpson, Villie Lyons, Shirley Pettigrew, Dorothy Hamilton and Juanita Wilcox; sons, Vasco Wilcox, Jr., and Murphy Wilcox; sisters, Lillie Pearl Wilcox and Abby Wilcox; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

Yawn, 77, died Thursday, March 27, 2003 in Dodge County Hospital. He was the son of the late Henry D. and Stella Scarborough Yawn. A native of Telfair County, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a retired Standard Candy Company line supervisor and a member and deacon of El Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Pruett Yawn of Milan; daughters, Gail Skipper of Cochran and Rita Voll of Milan; sons, Eric Yawn and Joey Yawn, both of Milan, and Roger B. (Rocky) Yawn, Jr. of Hazlehurst; sisters, Hulda Cook of Warner Robins, Vira Garnto of Valdosta and Edith Fisher of Catawba, S.C.; brothers, Roy Yawn of St. Petersburg, Fla., Henry Yawn of Nashville and James Yawn of Bonaire; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
