MRS. FORRESTER
Harmony Baptist member
BALDWIN - Mrs. Annie Bell Maxwell Clark Forrester, 104, died Tuesday, December 28, 1999, at a private nursing home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Forrester was born October 2, 1895, in Banks County. She was a daughter of the late Logan and Lizzie Stewart Maxwell.
Mrs. Forrester was retired from the Carwood Manufacturing Company, with 10 years of service, and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
She was a resident of Scenic View Health Care Center and was chosen as "Miss Scenic View of 1999."
Mrs. Forrester was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard P. Clark, her second husband, Ira Forrester, two brothers, Joe Berry Maxwell and Logan Maxwell, and four sisters, Mandy Vine Brock, Clementine Fuller, Lula Brock and Octa Robertson.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 30, in the South Chapel of Whitfield Funeral Home, Baldwin, with the Rev. Frank Sailers officiating. Burial was in the Harmony Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include two sisters, Lizzie Smith, Alto, and Martha Ferguson, Baldwin; a nephew reared in the home, Clifton Ervin, Greenville, S.C.; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. BUSSEY
Mt. Carmel Baptist member
GILLSVILLE - Walter "Walt" Bussey Jr., 57, died Sunday, December 26, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Bussey was born in Fort Benning, Ga., but had lived in Hall County for a number of years. He was a son of the late Walter Bussey Sr. and Ruth Bussey.
Mr. Bussey served in the U.S. Marines for 12 years and worked as a supervisor at the Gainesville Mill. He was later employed as a mechanic with Con Agra Poultry until 1998.
Mr. Bussey was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Lula, and had served as a Cub Scout Leader in Cherry Point, N.C.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 29, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Revs. Ralph Smith and Robert Brown officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Jackson Dorsey Bussey; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles "Chuck" and Susan Bussey, Jefferson, and Walter O. "Trip" III and Vickie Bussey, Independence, Ky.; step-son and daughter-in-law, Dwight and Lori Dorsey, Buford; step-sons, Mike Dorsey and Shane Dorsey, both of Gillsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Robert Brown, Graceville, Fla., and Elaine and James Reeves, Penbrook; grandchildren, Crystal Richards and Josh and Chancey Dorsey, all of Gillsville, Bronson Dorsey, Athens, Tabitha Whelchel and Ashley Dorsey, both of Gainesville, Evan, Megan and Chris Dorsey, all of Buford, and Torie and Joanna Bussey, Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Amber Richards and Hope Veal, both of Gillsville, Krista Kelly, Gainesville, and Bronson Dorsey Jr., Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. GALLOWAY
Retired truck driver
BALDWIN - Herman "Bill" Galloway, 67, died Sunday, January 2, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mr. Galloway was born July 21, 1932, in Banks County. He was a son of the late Herschel and Elsie Norton Galloway.
Mr. Galloway was a retired truck driver, with 43 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Smith Galloway, and two brothers, Talmadge Galloway and Alfred Galloway.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 4, in the South Chapel of Whitfield Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. Luther Williams and Roy Lee Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Oakside Cemetery, Zephyrhills, Fla.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Ausburn, Baldwin, and Karen Harmon, St. Louis, Mo.; two sons, Marc Galloway, Gillsville, and Danny Galloway, Tampa, Fla.; three sisters, Geraldine Mason and Bobbie Galloway, both of Gainesville, and Grace Ivester, Clarkesville; one brother, Donald Galloway, Clermont; and 10 grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to The Herman Galloway Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 866, Baldwin, GA 30511.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. BRYANT
Homemaker
COMMERCE - Mrs. Ossie Lecroy Bryant, 82, died Friday, December 31, 1999, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mrs. Bryant was born March 13, 1917, in Franklin County. She was a daughter of the late John and Zibiah Dalrymple Lecroy.
Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Congregational Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Bryant.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 2, 2000, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in the Middle River Baptist Church cemetery, Carnesville.
Survivors include one son, Roger Bryant, Gainesville; one daughter, Brenda Brown, Commerce; two brothers, John Lecroy, Toccoa, and Tom Lecroy, Carnesville; and two granddaughters, Devon and Shelly Brown, both of Commerce.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. MILLER
Construction worker
LULA - Paul A. Miller, 57, died Friday, December 31, 1999, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mr. Miller was born June 19, 1942, in Hall County. He was a son of Christine Bell Miller, Helen, and the late David Miller.
Mr. Miller was a self-employed construction worker and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 2, 2000, at Timberidge Baptist Church with the Revs. Verner London and Chris York officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Linda Chastain Miller; daughter and son-in-law, Susan M. and Scott Carney, Lula; three brothers, Ted Miller, Cleveland, Jimmy Miller, Commerce, and David Miller, Alto; five sisters, Laurene Chastain and Mary Cannon, both of Helen, Bonnie Sue Turner, Fayetteville, Martha Woodall, Cornelia, and Jeanie Hill, Alabama; and two grandchildren, Sarah and Shayla Carney, both of Lula.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, was in charge of arrangements.

MISS WADE
Carwood Mfg. retiree
ALTO - Miss Lillie Rosetta Wade, 86, died Wednesday, December 29, 1999, at a private nursing facility following an extended illness.
Miss Wade was born August 14, 1913, in Banks County. She was a daughter of the late Boling and Savannah Wade.
Miss Wade was retired from Carwood Manufacturing and attended Alto Congregational Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Odell Wade, Vance Wade and Tilmon Wade, and four sisters, Lessie Cook, Emma Myers, Bertha Chosewood and Maude Wade. Mrs. Wade was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 31, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. J. Clarence Reynolds and Sanford Kimbrell officiating. Burial was in the Wade Family Cemetery.
Miss Wade is survived by several nieces and nephews.

MRS. GARRISON
Banks County native
DEMOREST - Mrs. Tommie Lou Garrison, 89, died Friday, December 31, 1999, at her residence following an extended illness.
A native of Banks County, Mrs. Garrison was born April 12, 1910.
She was retired from Cluett and Peabody (Arrow Shirts), with 29 years of service, and was a member of Cornelia Christian Church.
Mrs. Garrison was preceded in death by a son, James H. Garrison, and a granddaughter, Jan Garrison Cargile.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 2, 2000, in the South Chapel of Whitfield Funeral Home, Baldwin, with David Terrell and James Jones officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Elmo Garrison; one son, Lamar Garrison, Jonesborough, Tenn.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Flowers are optional, or memorials may be made to Cornelia Christian Church, c/o Johnny Ayers, 157 Crabapple Lane, Cornelia, GA 30531.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. PAYNE
Homemaker
CORNELIA - Mrs. Pauline Hardy Payne, 75, died Wednesday, December 29, 1999, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Payne was born April 26, 1924, in Habersham County. She was a daughter of the late George and Maude Hardy.
Mrs. Payne was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Payne Sr.
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 30, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. Eddie Umbehant and Mickey Umbehant officiating. Burial was in Stephens Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Hemrick, Baldwin; two sons, Thomas Payne and Bruce Payne, both of Cornelia; two brothers, James Hardy, Blue Ridge, and George Hardy, Ohio; three sisters, Georgia Welborn and Frances Crow, both of Cornelia, and Dorothy Murray, Toccoa; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. MCCALLA
Former Maysville resident
FAYETTEVILLE - David Stovall McCalla Jr., 78, a former Maysville resident, died Friday, December 31, 1999.
Mr. McCalla was reared in Maysville and attended Maysville High School.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 3, 2000, at Inman United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dale Weldon, Doug Burrell and Dr. David Campbell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, John and Monica McCalla, Tyrone, and Paul and Sherri McCalla, Senoia; one brother, Charles R. McCalla, Huntsville, Ala.; one sister, Ruby M. Stephens, Decatur; five grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Carl J. Mowell & Son, Fayetteville, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. MINISH
Homer native
COMMERCE - Mrs. Ruby Mae Minish, 88, died Tuesday, January 4, 2000, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce.
Mrs. Minish was born February 1, 1911, in Homer. She was a daughter of the late James Rufus and Daisy Payne Green.
Mrs. Minish had been employed with Harmony Grove Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Lee Minish, and a daughter, Betty Jane Dispain.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 6, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Curtis Green and Marvin Lutrell officiating. Burial will be in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include four sons, Coil Lee Minish and Douglas Minish, both of Commerce, and Ronnie Minish and Rudolph Minish, both of Homer; three daughters, Frances Brown, Homer, Linda Jordan, Commerce, and Rebecca Williamson, Jefferson; 25 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ivie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
