Glana D. Summerour
Mrs. Glana Driskell Summerour, 82, of Hoschton, died Sunday, January 2, 2000, at Emory Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Summerour was born October 17, 1917, in Hall County. She was a daughter of the late George D. and Alice Gaines Driskell.
She was married
to the late Howard Summerour on January 25, 1935. They moved to the Pleasant Grove Community in Forsyth County and later made their home in Jackson County in 1955.
Mrs. Summerour was a very active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, having taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was president of the Homemakers Club in Pleasant Grove and was a member of the Winder Eastern Star, holding every office and twice achieving worthy Matron. Mrs. Summerour was also a member of the Lanier Shrinetts and a member of the Braselton Women's Club.
Mrs. Summerour, a dedicated volunteer, collected for the Heart Fund and Taking Census, and enjoyed being a regular caller on the WDUN radio program.
She was elected "Woman of the Year" of Jackson County and was a very active member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church.
She was cherished and loved by all who knew her, said family members.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 4, in the chapel of Little-Davenport Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Revs. G.A. Lawson and Tim Strickland officiating. Burial was in the Alta Vista Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and R.O. Mitchell, Douglas, Martha and Max Martin, Hoschton, and Wanda and Joe Strzemienski, Gainesville; daughter, Wilma Woodall, Commerce; brother, Cleburn Driskell, Jefferson; sister-in-law, Mrs. Ella Summerour Driskell, Gainesville; granddaughter and husband, Rebecca and Jack Cribbs, Douglas; granddaughter, Cheryl Martin, Hoschton; grandsons and wives, Wayne and Lisa Martin, Hoschton, Lane and Patty Woodall, Nicholson, and Randy and Tracy Woodall, Williamson, S.C., and Kelly and Melissa Woodall, Homer; grandchildren, Anna, Amy and Adam Strzemienski, all of Gainesville; and great-grandchildren, Lane Burkhalter, Douglas, Abbie, Matthew and Kate Woodall, all of Nicholson, and Tyler Woodall, Williamson, S.C.

George Faulkner
George Faulkner, 73, of Homer, died Wednesday, December 29, 1999.
A native of Banks County, Mr. Faulkner was a son of the late Odell and Alice Richie Faulkner.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 1, 2000, at Neals Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred Wilson, pastor of Homer First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Homer First Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Dorine Gaither Faulkner; eleven sons, David Faulkner, George Faulkner, Arthur Faulkner and Ronald Faulkner, all of Commerce, and James Faulkner, Swayne Faulkner, Waymon Faulkner, Tommy Faulkner, John Faulkner, Bobby Faulkner and Johnny Faulkner, all of Homer; three sisters, Mrs. Lula Neal, Mrs. Lillie Mae Richie and Mrs. Margie F. Richie, all of Homer; one brother, Thomas Faulkner, Homer; 31 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Larry S. Freeman
Larry S. Freeman, 57, of Commerce, died Wednesday, December 29, 1999.
A native of Madison County, Mr. Freeman was a son of Gussie Mae Irvin Freeman, Danielsville, and the late Samuel B. Freeman.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was the owner of Freeman Refrigeration Service. Mr. Freeman was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was an active participant in mission trips to Haiti.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 31, at Trinity Baptist Church with the Revs. Dan May and James "Trooper" Brock Jr. officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Linda Freeman; daughter, Christy Freeman, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and David Coile, Hull; sister and brother-in-law, Linda Freeman Green and Ray Green, Danielsville; grandson, Garrett Coile; and four nieces and nephews.

Flora I. Cash
Mrs. Flora Irene Cash, 85, of Homer, died Saturday, January 1, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mrs. Cash was born February 21, 1914, in Homer. She was a daughter of the late William and Mary Elizabeth Poole Crump.
Mrs. Cash retired from the Banks County School System as a teacher, with 32 years of service. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cash was preceded in death by her husband, Admiral Cash.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 3, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. Burial was in Banks County Memorial Gardens, Homer.
Survivors include one son, Harold Cash, Homer; one daughter, Milinder Clark, Lula; one sister, Bessie Cash, Homer; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Retired school bus driver
MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Edna Sue Weldon Cochran, 68, died Thursday, October 5, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Cochran was born October 26, 1931, in Jackson County. She was a daughter of the late Linton Newton and Ethel Gregory Weldon.
Mrs. Cochran had been employed with BJC Nursing Home and was a retired Banks County school bus driver. She was a member of Maysville Baptist Church. Mrs. Cochran was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Cochran.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 7, at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Manus and Swayne Cochran officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville.
Survivors include four sons, Al Cochran, David Cochran and Ronnie Cochran, all of Maysville, and Tim Cochran, Crawford; one daughter, Yvonne Payne, Homer; one brother, William Lonnie Weldon, Jefferson; one sister, Ruth Brock, Gillsville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

MR. ENGLISH
Truck driver
DEMOREST - Charles Brady English, 81, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000, at a private nursing facility following an extended illness.
Mr. English was born June 16, 1919, in Habersham County, a son of the late Oscar and Mamie Church English.
He was a self-employed truck driver and was a member of Fairfield Baptist Church. Mr. English was preceded in death by a daughter, Ozelle English Segers, two brothers, Clyde English and Curt English, and two sisters, Fay Daniel and Addie Ramsey.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, at Fairfield Baptist Church with the Revs. Clyde Garrison and Keith Allison officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Lavada and Bobby Warren, Demorest, Gail and Golden Barron, Cleveland, and Linda and Phil Garrison, Cornelia; son-in-law, Carroll Segers, Cornelia; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

MR. RYLEE

COMMERCE - James Bennett Rylee, 82, died Tuesday, October 3, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens.
Mr. Rylee was born April 8, 1918, in Banks County. He was a son of the late Hillard Hoyt and Essie Ann Smith Rylee.
Mr. Rylee was retired from A&P Food Stores and was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Jerry Rylee officiating. Burial was in the New Salem United Methodist Church cemetery.
Mr. Rylee is survived by his wife, Frances Louise Swanson Rylee; one son, the Rev. Jerry Rylee, Demorest; one daughter, Debra Conner, Lilburn; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MR. SNYDER
Retired conductor
CORNELIA - Ernest B. Snyder Sr., 84, died Monday, October 9, 2000, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Born in Macon County, N.C., Mr. Snyder had lived most of his life in Habersham County. He was a son of the late Odell Ernest and Cora Ellen Phillips Snyder.
Mr. Snyder retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a conductor. He was a member of Level Grove Baptist Church, Cornelia, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Men's Adult Sunday School Class #2. Mr. Snyder was also a 60-year member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bill Snyder, a brother, Joe Snyder, and three sisters, Lois Arrendale, Edna Burrell and Mildred Herrin.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 11, at Level Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Harold Sangster, Telford Tanksley, Terry Rice and Ronnie Thurmond officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Snyder is survived by his wife, Mattie Lee Crocker Snyder; one daughter, Pat Baxter, Cornelia; two sons, Buck Snyder, Cornelia, and Bobby Snyder, Southaven, Miss.; two sisters, Grace Golden and Ruth Bramlett, both of Cornelia; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Banks County native
LAFAYETTE - Mrs. Juanita Gordon King, 78, of Lafayette, died Tuesday, October 3, 2000, in Lafayette following an extended illness.
A native of Banks County, Mrs. King was a daughter of the late William M. and Eva Wood Gordon.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, at Wiley Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Tiger.
Survivors include two sisters, Claire Griffin, Commerce, and Sara Ingram, Lafayette; and three brothers, William Gordon, Commerce, Dillard Gordon, Clayton, and Milton Gordon, Greer, S.C.
MR. SWENSON
HCHS junior
CLARKESVILLE - Clinton John Swenson, 17, died Tuesday, October 10, 2000, at Habersham County Medical Center.
Mr. Swenson was born August 26, 1983, in Habersham County. He was a junior at Habersham Central High School and was a member of Carmi Baptist Church.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. Phillip Yarber officiating.
Survivors include his step-father and mother, Anthony and Angel Watkins Garofalo, Clarkesville; grandparents, Anderson and Gwen Wilson Watkins, Baldwin; and great-grandmother, Cora Wilson, Alto.
The family was to have recieved friends following the memorial service.
