Robert Henry Cooper
Services for Robert Henry Cooper of Lawton, Okla. were held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 21, at Immanuel Baptist Church of Lawton with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The Rev. Gerald D. Green and the Rev. Charles Baggett officiated.
Cooper, 77, died Monday, March 17, 2003 at his residence. He was the son of the late Hubert Henry and Lillie Bell Locke Cooper. A former residence of Telfair County, he was a 20 year veteran of the United States Army where he received the Bronze Star with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal (1st and 3rd), National Defense Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Army Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Marksman Badge, Mechanic Qualification Badge, and Four Overseas Service Bars.
Survivors include his wife Louise Cooper of Lawton, Okla.; sons, Steve Cooper of Roseville, Mich., Mark Jones and David Jones of Lawton, Okla; daughter, Lisa Myers, Colorado Springs, Colo.; brothers, Melvin Cooper, of Milan, J.W. Cooper and Carl Cooper of Macon; sister, Mazie Pruett, of Eastman; and six grandchildren.
Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home of Lawton, Okla. was in charge of arrangements.

George Hilton Harrell
Services for George Hilton Harrell of Rhine were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, in Sharon Baptist Church with interment in Sharon Cemetery.
The Rev. Scott McDuffie officiated.
Harrell, 58, died Friday, March 21, 2003 at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Telfair County, he was the son of the late George L. and Lillie Mae Towns Harrell. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and a retired law enforcement officer.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Knight Harrell of Rhine; daughters, Kathy Stanley of Rhine, Janet Brown of Alamo, Angelia Purvis of Douglas and Teresa White of Gresston; sisters, Bessie Van Busbie of Savannah and Maude Brown of Rhine; eight grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.

Joe Nelson
Services for Joe Nelson of Rhine, formerly of Eastman, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, with interment in Bethel Cemetery.
The Rev. Paul Cowles officiated.
Nelson, 65, died Monday, March 24, 2003 at the Coliseum Medical Center in Macon. He was the son of the late Collins B. and Ellie Whitlock Nelson. A native of Pickens County, South Carolina, he was a former employee of Reeves Brothers, Inc., the City of Eastman and the Dodge County Tax Assessors office. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran.
Survivors include daughters, Shannon Howell and Beth Speaks of Eastman and Elicia Jones of Cochran; brother, Jerry L. Nelson of Taylors, S.C.; and five grandchildren.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.

Ella Mae Wright Norwood
Services for Ella Mae Wright Norwood of Roba Alabama were held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Jonathan Seay officiated.
Norwood, 93, died Monday, March 17, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Isaac James Wright and Nancy Echols. She attended and graduated from Tuskegee University with a BS in music, later from the University of Georgia she received a master and specialist degree in education.
Survived include her sons, Andrew Norwood, Jr. of Helena, Ala. and John A. Norwood Sr. of Warner Robin; daughter, Cheryl C. Jackson of Helena; brothers, Dow Wright of East Orange, N.J. and James Wright of Newark N.J.; sisters, Helen Wright, Corienne Green, Lois Towler, Irene Morrison, and Vera Wright; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Annie Corinne West
Services for Annie Corinne West of East Point were held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 21, in the Carl J. Mowell and Son Chapel of Fayetteville with interment in Magnolia Cemetery, Atlanta.
The Rev. Wendell Banks officiated.
West, 95, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003. She was the widow of Oscar Belton West.
Survivors include her brother, Tom Wilkes of McRae; sisters, Mabel Richards of Stockbridge and Jewell Nelson of Leesburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great- nephews.

Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home of Fayetteville was in charge of arrangements.

Anne Boswell Wilson
Graveside services for Anne Boswell Wilson of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the family cemetery in Penfield.
Dr. William Connell officiated.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 29, when relatives gather at the home of Alan and Neille Wilson in McRae.
Wilson, 94, died Tuesday,
March 18, 2003 in the Telfair Regional Hospital. She was the widow of Alan W. Wilson. A graduate from Decatur High School, she attended Georgia State College for Women (GSCW) and was an elementary school teacher in Florida for many years.
Survivors include her son, Alan Wilson of McRae; daughter, Anne Linn of Williamsburg, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Johnny Bradfield
Services for Johnny Bradfield of McRae were held at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26 at the McRae United Methodist Church with interment in the Oakgrove Cemetery.
The Rev. Steve Waldorf and Dr. Bob Williams officiated.
Bradfield, 68, died Thursday, July 24, 2003. A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, he was the son of the late John Randolph and Anna Belle Sloat Bradfield. He was the husband of June Dyal Bradfield.
A graduate of Emory University and a member of Kappa Alpha Order, he had retired from city government after serving 16 years on the city council and nine years as mayor. He was the owner and operator of Lake Junan Nursery and served his country in the Georgia National Guard. He was a member of the McRae United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors included his daughters, Dr. Deb Smith of Eastman and Lisa B. Cook of Hilton Head, S.C.; sister, Anne Bradfield Tyor of Durham, N.C. and four grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Patsy House, Route 1, Box 273 B, McRae, Ga. 31055.

Joseph Arnold Pope
Services for Joseph Arnold Pope of Alamo were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28 at Glenwood United Methodist Church in Glenwood with interment in the Alamo City Cemetery.
The Rev. Jimmy Gilbert and Harry Hawkins officiated.
Pope, 104, died Friday, July 25, 2003. He was a native of Glenwood but had resided in Monroe for the past nine years. He was a member of Glenwood United Methodist Church and was the husband of Juanita Pope of Monroe.
In addition to his wife, survivors included his daughter, Maria Dixon of Monroe and two grandchildren.
Towns Funeral Home of Alamo was in charge of arrangements.
Vernesteen W. Reaves
Services for Vernesteen W. Reaves of Rhine were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at Wesley Chapel CME Church in Rhine with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Robert Haywood officiated.
Reaves, 69, died Sunday, July 13, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Isadore and Mary Lizzie Wilcox and was the wife of Limus Reaves. She was a retired educator of Dodge County school system with 30 years of service.
In addition to her husband, survivors included her sons, Viviano Reaves and Rejeno Reaves; step-son, Terrence Reaves; sisters, Ruthie Lee Williams and Ida White; four grandchildren and one step-grandchild.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Juliette “Judy” Smith Thomas
Services for Juliette (Judy) Smith Thomas of Alamo were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 29 at Union Primitive Baptist Church with interment at Alamo City Cemetery.
The Elder Huey Glisson and Elder Paul Thomas officiated.
Thomas, 72, died Saturday, July 26, 2003. A native of Bartow, she was the wife of Frank H. Thomas of Alamo and was preceded in death by one great-grandchild.
She was a member of the Union Primitive Baptist Church, president of Fairview Park Auxiliary, member and past president of Georgia Cattle Women Association and honored as Georgia Cattle Women of the Year in 1994. She was president of National Organization of Pollettes in 1992, in 1993 National Pollettes of the year and worked a number of years with United Way of Tift County.
In addition to her husband, survivors included her daughters, Kathern Driggers of Raleigh N.C. and Julie Marquez of Scarsdale N.Y.; son, Larry Thomas of Woodstock; sisters, Mildred Sheppard of Wadley, Francis Dame of Danville and Lettie Walker of Augusta; brothers, Clifford Smith of Augusta, Charles Harvey Smith of Keystone Heights Fla., Talmadge Smith of Swainsboro and Ernie Smith of Louisville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Towns Funeral Home of Alamo was in charge of arrangements.
