GAINESVILLE - Charlie J. Cantrell, 76, brother of Dorothy Smith, Talmo, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, following a brief illness.
Mr. Cantrell was a native and lifetime resident of Hall County. He was a son of the late Charlie and Irene White Cantrell.
Mr. Cantrell was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He retired from the construction industry as a carpenter and had worked for Ira H. Hardin Company. Mr. Cantrell was a member of Sardis Baptist Church, where he served as a former deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent and song leader.
He was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. Joe Cantrell, and a sister, Lorene Patterson.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 12, in the chapel of Little-Davenport Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. Gene Griffith officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville.
Survivors, in addition to his sister, include his wife, Willene Roper Cantrell; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Doug Looney, Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Dee Dee Cantrell, Winder; sisters, Cleon Furchess, Betty Hudgins, Sally Sargent, Barbara Cantrell and Polly Mooney, all of Gainesville; one brother, Bobby Cantrell, Alabama; one granddaughter, Heather Pugh, Gainesville; and a host of friends.

MRS. INGEBORG
Native of Germany
DANIELSVILLE - Mrs. Ingeborg M. Gulledge, 57, died Friday, March 10, 2000.
Mrs. Gulledge was born in Augsburg, Germany, a daughter of the late Waldmar Eldwon and Maria Baitinger Kraus.
She was employed with Buhler Yarn Manufacturing and was of the Catholic faith.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 15, in the chapel of Brown's Funeral Home, Danielsville.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond E. Gulledge; five daughters, Angie Swaigan, Old Town, Fla., Pamala Gulledge and Krystal Gulledge, both of Ozark, Ala., Carolin Davis, Selma, Ala., and Suzan Drewniak, Jack, Ala.; one sister, Renate Wactor, Covington; and one grandchild.

MR. BROOKS
Farmer
JEFFERSON - Loyd Matthew Brooks, 86, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Brooks was a son of the late Lester and Kizzie Lee Brooks.
He was a farmer and was retired from the State Highway Department. Mr. Brooks was a member of Revival Baptist Church, Hoschton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Jane Lee Brooks, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at Revival Baptist Church with the Revs. Bascomb Skelton, Howard Sprull and Joel Shadburn officiating. Burial will be in the White Plains Baptist Church cemetery, Jefferson.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Mae Smith and Nettie Mae Carter, both of Jefferson, and Francis Skinner, Bethlehem; three sons, Harrison Brooks, Donald Brooks and Alfred Brooks, all of Jefferson; two brothers, Ray Brooks and Otis Brooks, both of Jefferson; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family was to have received friends Tuesday and Wednesday, beginning at noon, at Mr. Brooks' residence located at 103 Doster Road, Jefferson.

EMMA L. SAULPAW
Mrs. Emma Lou Saulpaw, 81, of Nicholson, died Monday, March 6, 2000.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Saulpaw was a daughter of the late Allen Robert and Evie Lee Barnett Wilkes.
She was retired from Delmar Industry and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Mrs. Saulpaw was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Saulpaw, and a sister, Marguerite Sockwell.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 8, in Pittman cemetery with the Rev. Bill Wood officiating.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Gail A. and Lane Lester, Hull; son and daughter-in-law, Ernest J. "Joe" and Connie Jones, Nicholson; one sister, Yvonne Reeves, Stone Mountain; two brothers, Bobby Wilkes, Stone Mountain, and Eddie Wilkes, Ellenwood; three grandsons, two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.

HOSCHTON - Eurskin C. Flanigan, 88, died Monday, October 2, 2000.
Mr. Flanigan was a native of Gwinnett County. He was retired from the Gwinnett County School System and was a member of Duncan Creek Congregational Church, Dacula.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 5, at Duncan Creek Congregational Church with the Revs. A.J. Mullinax, Roland Jackson and Millard Sims officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Rev. Gaylon Beard officiating at graveside.
Mr. Flanigan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Idean Buice Flanigan; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Elaine Flanigan and Junior E. and Sharon Flanigan, all of Buford, Harold and Ida Flanigan and George P. and Joy Flanigan, all of Hoschton, Jerry and Ruth Flanigan, Winder, and Randall and Kathy Flanigan, Lawrenceville; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Tim Massey, Hoschton; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several cousins.

NICHOLSON - Mrs. Joan H. Martin, 71, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Martin was born May 10, 1929, a daughter of the late Ralph and Ellis Wilbanks Hosch.
She was a clock maker. Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband, Guytrell Martin.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Henry Webb, Kent Crawford and John Turlington officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Mrs. Martin is survived by one son, Guy Martin, Commerce; one daughter, Nora Martin, Martin; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Edna Sue Weldon Cochran, 68, died Thursday, October 5, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Cochran was born October 26, 1931, in Jackson County. She was a daughter of the late Linton Newton and Ethel Gregory Weldon.
Mrs. Cochran had been employed with BJC Nursing Home and was a retired Banks County school bus driver. She was a member of Maysville Baptist Church. Mrs. Cochran was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Cochran.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 7, at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Manus and Swayne Cochran officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville.
Survivors include four sons, Al Cochran, David Cochran and Ronnie Cochran, all of Maysville, and Tim Cochran, Crawford; one daughter, Yvonne Payne, Homer; one brother, William Lonnie Weldon, Jefferson; one sister, Ruth Brock, Gillsville; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

COMMERCE - James Bennett Rylee, 82, died Tuesday, October 3, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens.
Mr. Rylee was born April 8, 1918, in Banks County. He was a son of the late Hillard Hoyt and Essie Ann Smith Rylee.
Mr. Rylee was retired from A&P Food Stores and was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Jerry Rylee officiating. Burial was in the New Salem United Methodist Church cemetery.
Mr. Rylee is survived by his wife, Frances Louise Swanson Rylee; one son, the Rev. Jerry Rylee, Demorest; one daughter, Debra Conner, Lilburn; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

MR. DUVALL
World War II veteran
GAINESVILLE - Earl H. Duvall Jr., 74, died Wednesday, October 4, 2000, at Lanier Park Hospital, Gainesville, following a sudden illness.
A native of Towns County, Mr. Duvall was born October 10, 1926, to the late Harley and Ethal Waldroup Duvall.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy, where he received many distinguished medals. Mr. Duvall retired from Colonial Foods (Big Star), with 36 years of service. He was also employed with Lanier Park Hospital, with more than 10 years of service. He was of the Baptist denomination.
Mr. Duvall was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Mary Louise Reeves Duvall.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 6, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. Ralph O. Smith officiating. Burial was in Alta Vista Cemetery, Gainesville.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jerry Smith, Bishop, Sharon and Bill McClung, Braselton, and Debbie and Doug Cooper and Patti and Warren Minton, all of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Johnnie Beaver, St. Mary's; grandchildren, Jill Combs, Stephanie Smith, Chad Cope, Kim Buffington, Jessica Cooper, Michael Cooper, Lindsey Cooper and John Minton; and great-grandchildren, Zach Cope, Austin Cope and Brent Buffington.
