CORNELIA - Lane L. Wilbanks, 76, died Sunday, January 9, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following a short illness.
Mr. Wilbanks was born November 30, 1923, in Banks County. He was a son of the late Guy L. and Berdie Lane Wilbanks.
Mr. Wilbanks was the owner and operator of Wilbanks Used Cars for 50 years and was a former councilman for the City of Baldwin. He was a member of Cornelia First Baptist Church and was a member of the Georgia Automobile Dealers Association.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 10, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, with Dr. T. Logan Smith and the Rev. E.L. Aiken officiating. Burial was in the B.C. Grant Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Marcia L. Hubbell, Downingtown, Pa.; one son, Marlan B. Wilbanks, Atlanta; four sisters, Frances Duncan, Cornelia, Betty Pruitt, Baldwin, Mary Amig, Otto, N.C., and Guynelle Creighton, Canton; one brother, Donald Wilbanks, Alto; and two grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Egleston Children's Hospital, 1405 Clifton Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30322.

MRS. CARTEY
Banks County native
ATHENS - Mrs. Ruth Massey Cartey, 83, died Saturday, January 8, 2000.
Mrs. Cartey was born June 2, 1916, in Banks County. She was a daughter of the late Lon and Nancy C. Brown Massey.
Mrs. Cartey was retired from Macy's Department Store, with 30 years of service, and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil M. Cartey Sr.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 10, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Tom Lang officiating. Burial was in Oconee Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Cartey's nephews and great-nephews served as pallbearers.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Maurice and Rosana Cartey, Athens, and Phil and Cathy Cartey, Watkinsville; five grandchildren, Beth Cartey, Jenny Cartey, Ricky Rice, Mark Rice and Debbie Barecky; three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

BROWNSVILLE, TENN. - John Patterson Banks, 93, formerly of Carnesville, died Sunday, January 9, 2000, at Methodist Healthcare, Brownsville, Tenn., following an extended illness.
Mr. Banks was born October 23, 1906, in Franklin County. He was a son of the late William Jackson and Maude Elizabeth Means Banks.
Mr. Banks was a retired merchant and was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Azilee Dalrymple Banks.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 11, in the chapel of Brownsville Funeral Home, Brownsville, Tenn., with the Revs. Scott Alford and Stan Walden officiating. Burial was in Brownsville Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two sons, Pat Banks and Webb Banks, both of Brownsville, Tenn., and William Jackson Banks, Ollala, Wash.; one brother, Charles Banks, Florida; two sisters, Bessie Ruth Ayers, Carnesville, and Edith Banks, Homer; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

MR. HOLLIS

PENDERGRASS - Stanley Hollis, 44, died Sunday, January 9, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Hollis was born July 15, 1955. He was a son of the late L.J. and Annie Maude Crane Hollis.
Mr. Hollis was employed in dry wall construction and was a member of Pond Fork Baptist Church, Pendergrass.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 12, in the chapel of Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Johnny Knight officiating. Burial was on the Pond Fork Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Hollis; one daughter, Stacy Hollis, Jefferson; one step-daughter, Amy Jo Edwards, Jefferson; three sons, Shane S. Hollis, Todd Hollis and Jason Hollis, all of Pendergrass; four sisters, Irene Funderburk and Judy Owens, both of Jefferson, Betty Hamilton, Maysville, and Debbie Poole, Gainesville; four brothers, J.D. Hollis, Lexington, and Hoyt Hollis, Danny Hollis and Jimmy Hollis, all of Pendergrass; and 11 grandchildren.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Elaine Crocker, 54, died Monday, January 10, 2000.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Crocker was a daughter of Ethel Gibson Slayton, Comer, and the late Matt Slayton.
She was employed with Baker & Taylor, Commerce, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 12, at the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with the Rev. Warren Huddleston officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include her husband, Joe "Arkey" Crocker; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Scott Martin, Commerce; granddaughter, McClaine Martin, Commerce; and two special friends, Mary Evans and Roberta Bolton, both of Commerce.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Commerce First United Methodist Church Building Fund.

MR. FERRELL

HOSCHTON - Doyle Ferrell, 65, died Monday, August 7, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Ferrell was born May 9, 1935, in Crossville, Tenn. He was a son of the late James A. (Lafayette) and Dora Richardson Ferrell.
Mr. Ferrell was retired from the U.S. Marines, having served in Korea and Vietnam, and was retired from the I.W. Davis Correctional Institute. He was of the Baptist denomination.
Mr. Ferrell was a member of the V.F.W. of Gainesville, the American Legion of Gainesville and the Peace Officers Association of Georgia.
A private family memorial service was held.
Mr. Ferrell is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Hicks Ferrell; two daughters, Dianne Hanson, Jefferson, and Bonnie Ferrell, Winder; four step-daughters, Beth Coker, Colbert, Cynthia Welch, Comer, Debra Kaye Roberts, Hoschton, and Faye Wazny, Bogart; one son, Michael Bruce Ferrell, Winder; one sister, Florence Levins, Panama City, Fla.; four brothers, Charlie Ferrell, Tennessee, Ezra Ferrell and Roy Ferrell, Ocala, Fla., and Alvin Ferrell, Texas; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Olive Pinkerton King, 84, died Sunday, August 6, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. King was born September 9, 1915, in Putnam County. She was a daughter of the late William Harry and Mammie Wiley Pinkerton.
Mrs. King had worked as a secretary and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Ernest King.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 8, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Carlton Peters and Jerry Payne and Minister Tom Plank officiating. Burial was in the Harmony Christian Church cemetery.
Mrs. King is survived by two daughters, Harriett Gailey, Homer, and Sally Lou King, Gainesville; one sister, Frances Mansell, Roswell; two granddaughters, Amy Presley, Commerce, and Anna Gailey, Homer; and a sister-in-law, Kate Martin, Jefferson.

GAINESVILLE - Mrs. Doris Lingerfelt Dillon, 58, died Thursday, August 3, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Dillon was born in Lumpkin County, a daughter of the late Cicero and Madge Mincey Lingerfelt.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination. Mrs. Dillon was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Furth, a daughter, Ginger Furth, and a brother, Ben Lingerfelt.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. Ralph O. Smith officiating. Burial was in Alta Vista Cemetery.
Mrs. Dillon is survived by her husband, Otto Dillon; daughters and sons-in-law, Missy and Alan Yearwood, Flowery Branch, and Debbie and Wyndell Wade, Statham; six brothers, Hubert Lingerfelt, Winder, Gene Lingerfelt, Rome, and Ronald Lingerfelt, M.C. Lingerfelt, J.B. Lingerfelt and Ralph Lingerfelt, all of Dahlonega; four sisters, Edna Tate, Gainesville, Joyce Mize, Dacula, Lois Arthur, Dahlonega, and Bonnie Gardiner, Maysville; and two grandchildren, Kyle Wade and Alea Yearwood.

COMMERCE - Mr. Gordon M. Eubanks, 89, died Sunday, August 6, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Hospital.
Mr. Eubanks was born December 4, 1910, a son of the late Henry Joseph and Rebecca Seay Eubanks.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, August 8, in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce, with Dr. Don Paulson officiating.
Mr. Eubanks is survived by a granddaughter, Jill Morris; one sister, Clara Benton, Commerce; a nephew and his wife, the Rev. Roger and Faye Benton, Moultrie; and a great-niece and nephew, Valerie Moore and Danny Benton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
