Jimmy Mattox
Jimmy Lowell Mattox, 64, of Carlton, died Saturday, May 27, 2000.
A native of Oglethorpe County, Mr. Mattox was a son of the late John A. and Rossie Lovinggood Mattox.
He was a quarry man in the granite industry and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 29, in the chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, Elberton, with the Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Burial was in Forrest Hills Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Pauline McCannon Mattox; two daughters, Rose Bruce, Carlton, and Josephine Parker, Nicholson; three sons, Henry Mattox and David Mattox, both of Elberton, and Chuck McCannon, Barnesville; two sisters, Lessie Scott, Crawford, and Nell McCannon, Carlton; two brothers, William B. Mattox, Crawford, and George B. Mattox, Lexington; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Jerry L. Peyton
Jerry Lee Peyton, 41, of Homer, died Friday, May 26, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Mr. Peyton was born July 17, 1958, a son of Geneva Peyton, Homer, and the late Rudolph Peyton.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 28, at Silver Shoals Baptist Church with the Rev. Sam Parson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Peyton is survived by one brother, Michael Peyton, Commerce.

Clifford J. Herzog
Clifford John Herzog, 80, of College Park, formerly of Athens, died Thursday, May 25, 2000.
A native of Berks County, Penn., Mr. Herzog was a son of John and Florence Anderson Herzog.
He was a retired salesman. Mr. Herzog was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Belle Bullock Herzog.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 27, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, with the Revs. Herbert Burcher and Nesbitt Odom officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Brenda J. and David Childers, Senoia; grandchildren and spouses, Michele and Thomas Redwine, Newnan, and Peter and Brooke Childers, College Park; granddaughter, April Childers, Senoia; one great-grandchild, Devon Childers.

Silas David Marlow, infant son of Alvin and Tonya David Marlow, Maysville, died Thursday, May 25, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 26, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Brian Stowe officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include a sister, Bayleigh Marlow, Maysville; grandparents, Steve and Vickie David and Coy and Montez Marlow, all of Maysville; great-grandparents, Pearl Veal, Commerce, Buddy Veal, Gainesville, and Marshall and Clar David, Maysville; and great-great-grandmother, Louise Snipes, Commerce.

Kristi D. Wood
Miss Kristi Diane Wood, 26, of Nicholson, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Miss Wood was born August 30, 1973, in Clarke County. She was a daughter of Nancy Williamson Farmer and Charles William Wood, both of Nicholson.
Miss Wood was of the Methodist denomination.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 31, at Antioch United Methodist Church, Nicholson, with the Rev. Howard Rhodes officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her step-father, Larry Farmer, Nicholson; one brother, Kelly Farmer, Nicholson; two sisters, Traci Banks, Homer, and Shannon Glines, Commerce; and grandmothers, Jean Williamson and Sally Wood, both of Nicholson, and Sara Duren, Commerce.

Florence Sailers
Mrs. Florence Sailers, 89, of Commerce, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at BJC Nursing Home.
Mrs. Sailers was born December 23, 1910, a daughter of the late Thomas Crow and Nora Carlan McConnell.
She was a housewife. Mrs. Sailers was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Sailers.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 31, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Kent Cranford officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Park, Commerce.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Raphel Barnett, Commerce; daughter, Janice Slay, Winterville; one brother, Fred McConnell, Pittsburg, Texas; two sisters, Leona Hawks, Nicholson, and Ora Mae Pace, Athens; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Bobby J. Morris
Bobby James Morris, 48, of Lula, died Friday, May 26, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Mr. Morris was born December 10, 1951, in Jackson County. He was a son of Robert and Minnie Ruth Reid Morris, Lula.
Mr. Morris was a teacher and coach at Banks County High School. He attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Lula.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 28, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph O. Smith officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Doris Delean Meeler Morris; one son, Reggie Morris, Lula; one daughter, Ashley Bachelor, Maysville; and one sister, Linda Wehunt, Gainesville.

JEFFERSON - Charles Otis Williamson, 91, of the Arcade Community, died Friday, January 7, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following an extended illness.
Mr. Williamson was born February 28, 1908, in Jackson County. He was a son of the late George C. and Mary Kelly Williamson.
Mr. Williamson was a retired supervisor for the Right of Way Crew with Jackson Electric Membership Corporation and was a member of Arcade Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Fowler Williamson.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 8, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Dennis Kesler officiating. Burial was in the Williamson Family Cemetery. John Cody, Ronnie Williamson, Howard Nix, Bill Williamson, Curtis Bond and Gene Williamson served as pallbearers.
Survivors include two sons, Columbus Williamson and Charles Williamson, both of Jefferson; and three grandchildren.

PENDERGRASS - Mrs. Minnie Lee Henley Cheatham, 68, died Thursday, January 6, 2000, at her residence following a brief illness.
A native of Bristol, Tenn., Mrs. Cheatham was born March 17, 1931. She was a daughter of the late Clint and Marion Feather Henley.
Mrs. Cheatham was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 10, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Terry Fowler officiating. Burial was in the Hollysprings United Methodist Church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, James Robert Cheatham; two sons, Tom Cheatham, Covington, and Jim Cheatham, Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Lynn Loo, Buford; three sisters, Nancy Combest, Mt. Holly, N.C., Jennie Boggs, Lakeland, Fla., and Judy Vanover, Bluff City, Tenn.; two brothers, Ernest Henley and Jim Henley, both of Bristol, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Lottie Belle Williams McElroy, 78, died Friday, January 7, 2000.
Mrs. McElroy was a daughter of the late Dave Berry and Lula Ann Thurmond Williams.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Rogers Baptist Church.
Mrs. McElroy had been married
three times, first to the late Buford Dorsey Hix, second to the late Walker Mitchell Clegg, and third to the late Charles A. McElroy.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Dorris Bennett Williams, Thurmond David Williams, Young Monroe Williams, Bernice Williams, Hoyt Williams and Ernest Williams, and one sister, Mattie Lee Fitzpatrick.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 9, at Rogers Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlton Petters and William Puckett officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors include three sons, David Hix, Jefferson, Clay F. McElroy, Commerce, and Randy L. McElroy, Ila; three daughters, Wanda Horne, Commerce, and Vickie Eubanks and Inya Russell, both of Comer; one brother, J.D. Williams, Thomasville, N.C.; one sister, Flora Nell Wilkes, Commerce; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
