Mrs. Diane Grizzle Belk, Hull, died Saturday, December 16, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Belk was born February 16, 1946, in Franklin County, daughter of the late Virgil Roosevelt Grizzle and Elsie Gaddis Grizzle.
She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Worship Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 18, at New Hope Worship Center with the Rev. Dennis Kesler and Raymond Duncan officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Sam Bird, Alfred Burns, Waymon Wynn, Keith Watson, Broden Holloway and Stewart Whitaker served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Aaron Moon, Etherage Phillips, J.B. Chastain and Travis Fowler.
Mrs. Belk is survived by her husband, Pete Belk, Hull; daughter and son-in-law, Shelley Booth Jordan and Lee Jordan, Danielsville; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Audrey Booth, Ila; two step-daughters, Meloni Snyder, Hull, and Missy Pruitt, Winterville; one step-son, Grant Belk, Danielsville; five sisters, Lois Bird, Commerce, and Helen Watson, Mary Hart, Betty Jean Wynn and Elizabeth Burns, all of Royston; five brothers, Jerry Grizzle, Benjamin Grizzle and Ellis Grizzle, all of Royston, Roger Grizzle, Savannah, and Donald Grizzle, Alabama; and six grandchildren.

Annie A. Hooper
Mrs. Annie Adams Hooper, 90, of Ila, died Monday, December 18, 2000, at Saint Mary's Hospital, Athens.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Hooper was the daughter of the late Will and Lizzie Smith Adams and the widow of the late Willard Ray Hooper Sr.
Mrs. Hooper was retired from Blue Bell and was a member of Erastus Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her son, Willard Ray Hooper Jr.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 20, at Erastus Christian Church with Billy Glosson and Keith Weekley officiating. Burial was in the Ila Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law and husband, Joe and Jane Hooper Yuhas, Ila; grandson and wife, Dr. Robert and Traci Hooper, Ila; and one sister, Golden Adams, Commerce.

Myrtle U. Pethel
Mrs. Myrtle U. Pethel, 83, of Gainesville, died Thursday, December 14, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
A native and lifelong resident of Hall County, Mrs. Pethel was a daughter of the late William "Doc" Underwood and Louise Lawson Underwood.
She was a homemaker and a member of Community Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 16, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. Fulton Boswell officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville.
Mrs. Pethel is survived by her husband, Haskell Pethel, Gainesville; son, Charles H. Pethel, Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, John Wesley and Martha Pethel, Danielsville, Billy Joseph and Gloria Pethel, Cleveland, and Robert and Inez Pethel, Gainesville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Janie R. Wall
Mrs. Janie Ruth Carithers Wall, 86, of Comer, died Monday, December 11, 2000.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Wall was the daughter of the late William Jonie and Sara Elizabeth White Carithers.
Mrs. Wall was a member of Meadow Baptist Church, and a member of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class, the WMU, the Woodmen of the World Lodge 1415, and served as Sunday School teacher for many years of Meadow Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.M. Wall.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 13, at Meadow Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Dooley officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Deacons of Meadow Baptist Church served as pallbearers and members of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers.
Survivors include one daughter, Sara L. Wall, Comer; one brother, William Eugene Carithers, Milledgeville; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Parham and Ruby Wall; and several nieces and nephews.

MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Dorothy Mae Lewis Saville, 80, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mrs. Saville was born February 2, 1920, in Washington, N.Y. She was a daughter of the late John and Maude Brown Lewis.
Mrs. Saville was a homemaker and was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church. She was also a member of the National Grange Association.
Mrs. Saville was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest William Saville.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 2, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Swayne Carlan officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors include one son, Daniel Saville, Maysville; two daughters, Judy Howe, Maysville, and Frances Cadotte, Columbia, S.C.; three brothers, John Lewis, Argyle, N.Y., and Richard Lewis and Elrik Lewis, both of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; one sister, Elizabeth Hall, South Glenns Falls, N.Y.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

MR. HILL
Homer native
CHARLOTTE, N.C - Ira E. Hill, 90, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Mr. Hill was born April 15, 1910, in Homer, a son of the late James Newton Hill and Emma Louise Whelchel Hill.
He was a graduate of Banks County High School, Homer, and was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Hill retired in 1975 as chief freight office clerk, after working for Southern Railway for 47 years. At Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, N.C., he was a member of the Frazier Sunday School Class and the Senior Mallards.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 23, at Mallard Creek Presbyterian Church with the Rev. George W. Jacobs officiating. Burial was in Sharon Memorial Park. Ray, Donnie, Craven and Martin Buster Oehler, Bill Kirk and Dan Giles served as pallbearers. Members of the Frazier Sunday School Class served as honorary pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Kay A. and Jim Thomason, Simpsonville, S.C.; two sisters, Ruby Henderson, Columbus, and Mildred Lanham, Covelo, Calif.; three grandsons, Jeff, David and Andy Grice; and five great-grandchildren.

CORNELIA - Arnold L. Davis Jr., 78, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Rabun County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Davis was born August 21, 1921, in Rabun County. He was a son of the late Arnold Luther Sr. and Zoie Smith Davis.
Mr. Davis was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from Marta Transit Corporation. He was a member of Lakemont Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 3, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Revs. Larry Brown and John Gibson officiating. Burial was in the VFW Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors.
Survivors include four sisters, Viola Davis, Cornelia, Dorothy Born, Turnerville, Thena Rodchester, Louisville, Texas, and Jean Bragg, Marietta; and several nieces and nephews.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Lessie Simmons Mealor Echols Haygood, 83, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at BJC Nursing Home.
Mrs. Haygood was born September 10, 1916, in Banks County. She was a daughter of the late Alex and Emily Mealor Simmons.
Mrs. Haygood was a retiree of Harmony Grove Mill and was a member of Ridgeway Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Mealor, her second husband, Howard Echols, and her third husband, Howard Haygood.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 7, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Bill Manus and Dayton Logan officiating. Burial was in the Leatherwood Baptist Church cemetery, Baldwin.
Mrs. Haygood is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Hazel Lurine Bradberry, 73, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Bradberry was born March 5, 1927 in Commerce. She was a daughter of the late Barney and Lena Williamson Pace.
Mrs. Bradberry had been employed as a nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Bradberry.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 4, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Will Herring officiating. Burial was in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Lee Knight, Nicholson; one daughter, Carol Tatum, Commerce; one brother, George B. Pace, Nicholson; one sister, Elizabeth Green, Nicholson; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Dannie L. Benton Wilbanks, 78, died Sunday, June 4, 2000.
Mrs. Wilbanks was born August 21, 1921, in Jackson County. She was a daughter of William McDaniel and Mary F. Porter Benton.
Mrs. Wilbanks was a retired supervisor with Oxford and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Parks Wilbanks.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 6, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Brad Wilson officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Mrs. Wilbanks is survived by two sons, Douglas Wilbanks, Homer, and Kenneth Wilbanks, Commerce; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
