Woodlyn M. Chastain
Mrs. Woodlyn McCurley Chastain, 86, of Athens, died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Chastain was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G.W. McCurley Sr.
She was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church.
Family members say that Mrs. Chastain enjoyed her association with the Jolly Elders and the Extension Service Sewing Club. A sports enthusiast, she loved to attend the many athletic events of her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Chastain was preceded in death by her husband, H.E. Chastain, a retired UGA District Extension Agent.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 21, at Green Acres Baptist Church. Burial was in the Colbert Cemetery. Mrs. Chastain's grandsons and grandsons-in-law served as pallbearers. Members of the Jolly Elders Sunday School class served as honorary pallbearers.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Fay and Stan Brassie and Edwina and Tom Johnson; sons and daughters-in-law, Woody and Susanne Chastain and Ricky and Betsey Chastain; two brothers, Ret. Col. Henry McCurley and Grady McCurley; two sisters, Pearl Wallace and Hilda Hardeman; grandchildren, Chas, Lucy and Elizabeth Chastain; grandchildren and spouses, Trey and Saskia Thompson, Wyatt Johnson and Celsa Gonzalez, Christa and Bill Shaffer, Kelley and Cole Barks, Tal and Karen Thompson and Melaney and David Perno; and great-grandchildren, Chap and Tessa Thompson, Keller Barks and Saidee Perno.

Henry W. McEver
Henry Wiley McEver, 92, of Madison, Tenn., died Sunday, March 19, 2000, at Tennessee Christian Medical Center.
Mr. McEver was born April 15, 1907, in Banks County. He was a son of the late Jake and Carrie Bruce McEver.
Mr. McEver was a retired pipe fitter and was a member of Silver Spring Baptist Church, Mt. Juliet, Tenn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katharine Wagner McEver.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 22, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Russ Stevens, Charles Hamlin and Al Adams officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include one son, Billy Rozerl, Madison, Tenn.; one daughter, Lucille Barrett, Madison, Tenn.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Retired seamstress
LULA - Mrs. Ruby A. Myers, 73, died Thursday, August 10, 2000, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Myers was born February 12, 1927, in Banks County.
She was a retired seamstress from Carwood Manufacturing and was a member of Lula Baptist Church.
Mrs. Myers was preceded in death by her husband, William Myers, a son, Jesse Arnold, and a brother, A.P. Krockum.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 12, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. Perry Smith officiating. Burial was in the Skitts Mountain Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include one sister, Nellie Burgess, Cornelia; brother-in-law, Edward Myers, Homer; and sisters-in-law, Ethelene Keller, Mt. Airy, Cozetta Myers, Lula, and Mary Lou Myers, Mt. Airy.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Rosa Lee Edwards Webb, 86, died Monday, August 14, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Webb was a daughter of the late Oris and Margia Edwards and the late Lily Carithers Edwards.
She was retired from Blue Bell Manufacturing Company and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce. Mrs. Webb was also a member of the W.M.U., the AARP and the John Dorsey Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Echols Webb, two brothers, Alton Okelley and Dewey Edwards, and a sister, Flonnie Edwards.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 16, at the First United Methodist Church of Commerce with the Revs. Warren Huddleston and Tom Shores officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Brown, Commerce, and Lillie Hill, Athens; one brother, Leroy Edwards, Athens; two sisters, Louise Gordon, Maysville, and Cordelia Stephens, Nicholson; four grandchildren, Dusty Brown, Dalton, Connie Jarvis, Commerce, Jeff Hill, Bogart, and Linda Miller, Athens; and seven great-grandchildren, Jenna Jackson, Commerce, Brody Brown and Emily Rose Brown, both of Dalton, Kristen Miller and Aaron Miller, both of Athens, and Matthew Hill and Jonathan Hill, both of Bogart.

Retired watershed inspector
CARNESVILLE - William Paul "Papaw" Harris, 85, died Saturday, August 5, 2000, at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Harris was born March 29, 1915, in Elbert County. He was a son of the late J.G. Harris Sr. and Annie Skelton Harris.
Mr. Harris was a retired watershed inspector with the United States Soil Conservation Service, a Watkins salesman and a farmer. He was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church.
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by five brothers, Dennis, Gartrell, Alfred, Isom and J.G. Harris Jr., and three sisters, Lula Turner, Ruby McCollum and Leah Whitaker.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 7, in B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Revs. William Harris and Michael Bell officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens. Mr. Harris' grandsons served as pallbearers.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Doris Tucker Harris; two sons, Jimmie Harris, Blairsville, and the Rev. William Harris, Spartanburg, S.C.; two daughters, Joan Akin, Loganville, and Gwen Whitworth, Toccoa; two brothers, Dr. Wayne Harris, Royston, and Winston Harris, Hartwell; three sisters, Daltha Bowen, Anderson, S.C., and Willie Ester "Bill" Reynolds and Winona Weaver, both of Hartwell; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

WINDER - Walter Roy "Mr. Walt" Puckett, 89, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000.
Mr. Puckett was born in January 1911, a son of Ephraim Anderson and Azalee Hayes Puckett.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzy Mae Cheatham Puckett, and a son, Roy Puckett.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 10, in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder. Burial was in the Providence Church cemetery, Statham.
Mr. Puckett is survived by two sons, Jimmy Puckett, Statham, and Alan Puckett, Bogart; five daughters, Sue Bradshaw, Bogart, Inez Kennedy, Winder, Jeanette Kennedy, Ila, Betty Ann Jones, Crawford, and Shirley Dalton, Athens; four sisters, Dorothy Busbin and Maggie Puckett, both of Athens, Anne Lord, Center, Rose Mary Harrison, Decatur; four brothers, Sim Puckett, Winder, and Carroll Puckett, Milton Puckett and Billy Puckett, all of Athens; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

GILLSVILLE - Miss Vicky Lavern Booth, 27, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Miss Booth was born January 28, 1973, a daughter of Bennie Gail Booth, Gillsville, and C.D. Booth, Jefferson.
Graveside services were held Friday, August 11, in the Nicholson cemetery with the Rev. Lonnie Baker officiating.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include two sons, Perry Booth and Percey Booth, both of Gillsville; one brother, Robert Booth, Nicholson; one sister, Toni Booth, Commerce; and grandfather, W.C. Stowe, Westwood, Calif.

ROYSTON - Mrs. Georgia Mae Nunnally Adams, 71, died Thursday, August 10, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Adams was born September 9, 1928, in Banks County. She was a daughter of the late Dayton and Maybelle Whitfield Nunnally.
Mrs. Adams was a homemaker and was retired as a textile worker from Comer Manufacturing and Oxford of Royston. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by a brother, J.D. Nunnally.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 13, in B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Revs. Clint Harper and Truitt Brawner officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jo Dowell, Royston; two sisters, Robbie Worley, Homer, and Ruth Webb, Gainesville; and one grandson, Steven Dowell, Royston.

Nails Creek Baptist Church member
CARNESVILLE - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Poole Rowe, 91, died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Rowe was born November 18, 1908, in Clermont. She was a daughter of the late Jesse C. and Flora McConnell Poole.
Mrs. Rowe retired from Kraft Foods of Atlanta and was a member of Nails Creek Baptist Church. She had been a resident of the Jersey Community of Walton County for 25 years and had attended Jersey United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 11, at Nails Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Robertson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Sybil McFarlin Lambert, Carnesville; three granddaughters and one grandson.
