Services for Norman Daniel “D” Cameron of Lumber City were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Shelton’s Chapel with interment in church cemetery.

Cameron, 83, died Thursday, July 3, 2003. A native and life long resident of Telfair County, he was the son of the late John Monroe Cameron and Ida Cravey Cameron and the widower of Dexie Powell Cameron. He was a farmer and a member of Shelton’s Chapel.
Survivors included his daughters, Norma Cameron of Brunswick, Kathy Hickox of Lizella and Sandra Spoon of Scotland; sister-in-law, Bertha Mae Cameron of Lumber City and three grandchildren.

Carolyn Jane Marshall Cravey
Services for Carolyn Jane Marshall Cravey of Helena were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment in the Helena Cemetery.
The Rev. Alvin Lewis and the Rev. Roy Grimes officiated.
Cravey, 48, died Friday, July 4, 2003. A native of Meritzy, Ariz., she was the daughter of the late Hubert Marshall and Gladys C. Marshall. She was the wife of Thomas J. Cravey and was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband and mother, survivors included her children, Nick Goucher of Helena, April Brack of Helena, Ronnie Goucher of Augusta and Hubert Ruthvern of S.C.; stepsons, Tommy Cravey of Helena and Mark Cravey of Milan; sister, Blanche Belcher of Pikeville, Ky.; brothers, Larry Marshall of Faulen, Nev. and Roger Marshall of Apache, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.

Arthur Connie ‘A.C.’ Jones
Graveside services for Arthur Connie ‘AC’ Jones of Eastman were held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 4, in Mt. Zion Methodist Church Cemetery in Milan.

Jones, 59, died Wednesday July 2, 2003. A native of Houston County, he resided in Eastman. He was the son of the late Rosa Nell Knight Jones and Joseph Oscar Jones of McRae and was preceded in death by a daughter, Sissy Jones. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and a self employed yard maintenance worker.
In addition to his father, survivors included his daughters, Connie Denise Sutton of Macon, Sheree Franies of Atlanta, Tonya Jones Brown of Broxton; sister, Lena Mae Wilson of Garden City; and five grandchildren.

Mildred White Mimbs
Services for Mildred White Mimbs of Lumber City were held at 5 p.m. Sunday, June 29, in the Shiloh United Methodist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Mimbs, 83, died Saturday, June 28, 2003. She was a native and lifelong resident of Wheeler County. She was the daughter of the late James Harris and Sadie Adams White and the widow of James Troy Mimbs. She was preceded in death by son, James Harold Mimbs.
Survivors included her daughter, Maxie Jo Johnson of Lumber City; brothers, Julian White of Dublin, Truitt White of Lumber City, Preston White and Harry White, both of Alamo, four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

Services for Eliza Mathis Powell of Lumber City were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, at the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with interment in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.

Powell, 93 died Saturday, June 28, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Railroad and Annie Clements Mathis and the widow of Foster Powell Sr. She was a native of Telfair County but had resided in Hazlehurst. She was a member of the Northgate Baptist Church.
Survivors included her daughters, Imogene Shumans of Denton, Inez Hipps of Hazlehurst and Billie Faye Knowles of McRae; sons, Foster Powell Jr. and Robert Powell, both of Lumber City, and James Powell of Adel; sister, Evelyn Chewning; 12 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Nathan R. ‘Buddy’ Smith Jr.
Services for Nathan R. ‘Buddy’ Smith Jr. of Scotland were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, at Scotland Baptist Church with interment in the Scotland Cemetery.

Smith, 72, died Saturday, July 5, 2003. He was a native of Laurens County and had resided in Telfair County most of his life. He was the son of the late Nathan R. and Lena Williams Smith Sr. and was married to Dorothy C. Smith of Scotland. He was a member and past deacon of Scotland Baptist Church, a member of the Woodmen of the World fraternity and a retired farmer.
In addition to his wife, survivors included his daughters, Mattie Lou McKrimmon of Rhine and Marlene Burkhalter of Alamo; sons, Robert A. Smith of Pittsboro, N.C. and Mike Smith of Scotland; sisters, Robbie T. Skipper of Thomaston, Willie Ruth Bunton of Claxton and Ann Rogers of Helena; brother, Gene Smith of Bonaire; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Washington Troup
Services for Washington Troup of Philadelphia, Pa. were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at StarLight Baptist Church of Glenwood with interment in the church cemetery.

Troup, 91, died Sunday, June 29, 2003. A native of Glenwood, he had resided in Philadelphia, Pa. for many years. He was the son of the late John D. and Georgina Daniel Troup and was married to Pearline Troup. He was retired from Allenwood Steel Company after more than 30 years.
In addition to his wife, survivors included his three children, three brothers, one sister, 29 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Herman L. Wynn
Services for Herman L. Wynn of Rhine were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, at Southerland Funeral Chapel with interment at Bay Springs Cemetery in Rhine.

Wynn, 81, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003. He was a native of Laurens County and had lived most of his life in Dodge County. He was the son of the late Homer and Vassie Coleman Wynn. He was a member of Rhine United Methodist Church and a retired civil service employee of Warner Robins Air Force Base.
Survivors included his son, Stephen L. Wynn of Eastman; daughters, Sharon Irving of Orlando, Fla. and Lynette Daniels of Warner Robins; sister, Bertie Mae Bracewell of Rentz; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Bennett, 91, died Saturday, June 21, 2003 at Brian Nursing Center. She was a native of Telfair County and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Allen Brower.
Survivors included her son, Perry Alton Bennett of Alamo, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Facison, 67, died Saturday, June 21, 2003. He was a native of Dodge County but had resided in Milan. He was the son of the late Johnny and Maude Gibson Facison.
Survivors included his sons, John C. Facison Jr., Charlie C. Facison and Willie Charles Solomon; brother, Thomas Milton Facison, sister; Mary Campbell; one granddaughter and a host of relatives and friends.

Services for Genetta Fletcher of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 29, at Central Valley Baptist Church in McRae with interment at Pine Acres Cemetery.

Fletcher, 59, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003. A native of Telfair County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Boise and Nettie McRae Williams. She was retired from the Department of Agriculture after 32 years.
Survivors included her daughter, Brenda Merritt of McRae; son, Roy Lee Parks, Jr. of McRae; sisters, Jacqueline Tyson of Waterbury, Conn. and Patricia Penn of Bayside, N.Y.; brother, Lucious Mizell of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.
