Wanda S. Alexander
Wanda S. Alexander, 54, died Wednesday, January 21, 2003, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia, after a short illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Tattnall County. She was employed as Vice President of Operations by Tippins Bank and Trust Company for the past 31 years. She was a member of Collins Baptist Church and served as treasurer for 11 years. She is a 1967 graduate of Collins High School, and was a member of Evans Heights Golf Club. She was preceded in death by her father, Cleon Shuman of Collins, Georgia.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Alexander of Collins; one son, Richard Alexander of Atlanta; her mother, Bertha Shuman of Collins; her grandmother, Laura Collins of Metter; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Calvin and Wanda Faye Shuman and Glenn and Pam Shuman, all of Collins; and several nieces and nephews: Steven Shuman, Brian Shuman, Laura Shuman, Chase Shuman, and Brett McDaniel.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 24, at 2 p.m. at Collins Baptist Church, with the Rev. Allen McCoy and the Rev. Steve Bryant officiating. Burial was in Collins Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Kyle Sapp, Larry Sapp, Billy Collins, Larry Shuman, Gary Shuman, and Johnny Shuman.
Honorary pallbearers were officers, directors, and employees of Tippins Bank and Trust Company.

Shane Griffin
Shane Griffin, 23, of Bremen, Georgia, died Thursday, January 16, 2003, at Higgins General Hospital. He was born March 15, 1979, in Carroll County to Larry G. Griffin and Gail Griffin. He was a dental technician employed by Griffin Dental Lab in Villa Rica, Georgia, and was a member of Bethany Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Slater Griffin, and maternal stepgrandfather, Bill Grooms.
He is survived by his parents, Larry G. and Gail Griffin of Bremen; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tonia and Eric McIntosh of Temple and Shannon and Steve Matheson of Villa Rica; his maternal grandmother, Laurie Grooms of Millen; his paternal grandmother, Eardean Griffin of Glennville; his maternal grandfather, Jack E. McMillan of Dalton; aunts and uncles: Delores and Martin Mendez of Millen; Herman and Becky Griffin of Marietta; Clyde and Madeline Griffin of Savannah; Maridean Waters of Glennville; and Evelyn Griffin of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; one niece, Savannah McIntosh; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 19, at 2 p.m. at Bethany Christian Church, with Minister Allen Howard officiating. Interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Bremen, Georgia.
Pallbearers were Matt Howard, Justin Howard, John Bailey, Terry Johnson, Drew Veal, Brian Veal, Tommy Hobson, Michael Hobson, and Andre Kotze.

Nettie Strickland
Nettie Padgett Strickland, 92, died Sunday, January 19, 2003, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints, Dunn Avenue Ward, where she was very active and loved her church. She was a member of DAR, and was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, S. Odell Strickland.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Joy and Craig Ridd of Springville, Utah; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Darlene Strickland of Tulsa, Oklahoma; one sister, Ruth Stafford of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother, Lyman Padgett of Darien, Georgia; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 24, at Pigot Branch Baptist Church, with President Richard Padgett officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

David Griner
David Arthur Griner, 44, of Rincon, Georgia, and formerly of Savannah, Georgia, died Thursday, January 24, 2002, at Hospice Savannah. He was born in Savannah, Georgia, and was a member of Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church, and was a former member of Taliaferro Baptist Church. He was a member of the Men's Fellowship, and operated the projection system at the church. He had served as a coach for a Little League baseball team, and was a Boy Scout Leader. He was an employee of Gulfstream, having served as a Manufacturing Engineer Liaison for the past 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Misty Griner of Rincon; three sons: David Griner, Dale Griner, and Jimmie Griner; his parents, Philip and Eloise Griner of Lyons, Georgia; and a brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Leigh Griner of Savannah.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 26, in the Chapel of the Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, Hodgson Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Mose Toole officiating. Interment followed at 4:30 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Toombs County, Georgia, with the Rev. James Wilcox officiating.
Pallbearers were Greg Berger, Ron Aldridge, Dean Cela, Lee Dasher, Mark Winnai, and Carl Flathman.

Ethel Osteen
Ethel Hallman Osteen, 90, of Collins, Georgia, formerly of Glennville, Georgia, died Wednesday, January 23, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. The Appling County native was the oldest member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Rufus Hallman and Howard Osteen.
She is survived by five daughters and four sons-in-law: Onetha and Julien Mingledorff, Joan and Ralph Stafford, and Maxine Turner, all of Collins; Wanda and Jimmy Gilmer of Savannah; and Dottie and Clay Brooks of Buford; one son and daughter-in-law, Theron and Linda Hallman of Glennville; three sisters: Lucille Davis, Elizabeth Crosby, and Lorene Wood, all of Baxley, Georgia; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 25, at 11 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Posey officiating. Burial was in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons.

Edra D. Burns
Edra Durrence Burns, 88, died Friday, January 27, 2006, at her home with her family and beloved nurses of many years, Mary Purvis, Marie Brunner, and Mae Brown, by her side with the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. She was a Tattnall County native, and a member of Glennville First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Pearl Durrence of Reidsville; her husband, A. D. Burns, Jr.; and her son, A. David Burns III.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Karen R. Burns of Shellman Bluff and Brenda B. and Andy Perkins of Glennville; grandchildren, Brigitte and John McKeown of St. Simons; Gina P. and Steve Peterson of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and Candy and Neil Hayes of Ludowici; great-grandchildren: Luckett, Lillie Frances, and Burns McKeown of St. Simons Island; and Ellie and Mimi Peterson of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and Trent, Cole, and Katlyn Hayes of Ludowici; sisters, Sue Hommel of Savannah and Rita Watson of Vidalia; brothers: Swinton Durrence, D. L. Durrence, Jr., and Kenneth Durrence, all of Reidsville; sister-in-law, Betty B. Townsend of Bloomington, Indiana; special cousin and friend, Margaret Bacon; special giving friend, Tera Perkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 30, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville chapel, with Bro. Robert Kicklighter and the Rev. Bobby Brinkley officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.

Stephen E. Caison
Stephen E. Caison, 55, died January 9, 2006, in Saudi Arabia. The Tattnall County native was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and the U. S. Army and was a pilot with Eastern Airlines. He was serving as a pilot for the Prince of Kuwait while overseas.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen Caison of New York City, New York, and Scott Caison of Atlanta; his mother, Willie Pearl Caison Owen of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister, Elaine Caison Borne of Jacksonville, Florida; a brother, Gary Caison of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, at Cobb Funeral Home, Reidsville chapel. Burial was in Reidsville City Cemetery with military honors.

Thad C. Kicklighter
Thad Carl Kicklighter, 81, died Sunday, January 29, 2006, at his residence. The Tattnall County native was a World War II veteran, a retired civil service worker, and a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elinor Casteen Kicklighter of Glennville; daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda Wells Bostic of Lake Asbury, Florida; Connie K. and Carl Yarbrough and Audrey Kicklighter of Glennville; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenny Wells and Ricky L. and Debbie Kicklighter of Glennville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville chapel, with the Rev. Daniel Harris officiating. Interment was in Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Milred A. Taul
Mildred A. Taul, 71, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at her residence. The Tattnall County native was a member of Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church, and a homemaker. She had lived in Milan, Indiana, for 20 years before returning to Tattnall County in 1974. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Taul, and a grandson, Corey Dixon.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Mike Dixon of Batesville, Indiana; sons and daughters-in-law: Terry and Mary Taul of Augusta; Tommy and Darlene Taul of Pekin, Illinois; and Don and Kristie Taul of St. Marks, Florida; a sister and brother-in-law, Louise Anderson and James Brantley of Vidalia; a brother and sister-in-law, Cecil and Sug Anderson of Glennville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 30, at Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Harris Nix officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

William E. Brannen
William E. "Bill” Brannen, 88, died Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Tattnall County native retired from the U. S. Air Force with 22 years of service, and was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, he moved back to Glennville where he operated the 301 Drive-in Restaurant and a rolling store for many years. He was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church and the Bruce Dubberly Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Irmgard H. Brannen of Glennville; daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Ronald Purcell of Panama City, Florida, and Terry and Tom Kaiser of Chaska, Minnesota; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy Joe and Danette Brannen of Glennville; a sister, Marion E. Collins of Tecumseh, Michigan; grandchildren: Toni, David, and Thomas Kaiser; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 28, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Keith Rustin officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery, with full military honors.

J. Dennis White, 84, died Friday, January 28, 2005, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Lamar County, Alabama, native had lived in Glennville for the past 20 years. He was a former educator, having served as a teacher, coach, and elementary school principal in Emanuel County before returning to Glennville. He was a World War II veteran and a Mason, and a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Swainsboro Golf Club, and national, state, and local educational organizations. He was a member of Glennville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Bacon White of Glennville; a son, Dennis Bacon White of Glennville; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. J. Nelton White of Beaverton, Alabama.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, January 30, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville chapel, with the Rev. Steve Posey officiating. Burial was in Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lee Camp, 59, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at Southeast Regional Medical Center in Brunswick, Georgia. The Mississippi native had lived in Crescent for the past six years. He was a retired U. S. Army veteran, and a former sales manager with Clanton Motors in Jesup.
He is survived by his wife, Lottie Camp of Crescent; one daughter, Joanna Uezu of Okinawa, Japan; two stepdaughters, Michelle Kicklighter of Brunswick and Tiffany Groover of Glennville; one son, Ken Shimigera of Tokyo, Japan; two stepsons, Leslie Groover of Glennville and Terry Groover of Nichols; five sisters: Dorothy Dove, Charlene Cook, Ophie Lee Silas, Yvonne Stanford, and Willadean Collins, all of Mississippi; two brothers: James Arnold Camp and Randy Camp, both of Mississippi; three granddaughters; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 29, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Jerald Dorr officiating. Burial was Saturday, January 31, in Amory, Mississippi.

Harriet Debevec
Harriet L. Debevec, 78, died Wednesday morning, January 28, 2004, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Pennsylvania native had lived in Florida for 30 years and North Carolina for 27 years, moving to Reidsville in 1998. She was a nurse, and of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Debevec of Reidsville; four sons: Barry Debevec of Reidsville; Richard Debevec and Michael Debevec, both of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and Charles Debevec of Marathon, Florida; one daughter, Rosetta Debevec of Asheville, North Carolina; one sister, Mary Matthews of Hiddenite, North Carolina; one brother, William Besecker of Kane, Pennsylvania; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home.

Sarah Lee Durrence, 87, died Thursday, January 29, 2004, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Evans County native had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was a member of Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Slaton Durrence.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31, at Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder W. H. Durrence. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Justin Anderson, David Bryant, John Durrence, Andy Durrence, Wendy Durrence, and Michael Groover.
