William Findley
William “Dub” “Bill” Findley, 77, died early Thursday morning, January 29, 2004, at Memorial Health Medical University. The Tattnall County native had lived in Florida many years, moving to Collins in 1982. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. He retired as a production manager for National Linen Services. He was a deacon at Reidsville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Findley of Collins; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Judy Angulo of Dublin and Richard and Anne Angulo of Pembroke Pines, Florida; two daughters and sons-in-law, Aurora and Phil Britton of Marietta and Rosie and Walter Dobson of Miami; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Gladys Lindsay of Reidsville; Mae Riner of Jacksonville; and Emily and Wilbur Cook of Collins; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 31, at the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Glenn Russell and the Rev. Marion Patton. Interment followed in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Anthony Angulo, Steve Riner, Joey Wilkes, Kevin Walden, Dean Riner, Kenneth Cook, and Mark Perry.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Reidsville Baptist Church, and the E. B. Register Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be given to the Reidsville Baptist Church Building Fund.

Eunice Kicklighter
Eunice Helmly Lett Kicklighter, 92, of Savannah, died Saturday, January 31, 2004, at Oceanside Nursing Home under the care of Hospice of Savannah, Inc. She had lived in Savannah and Glennville. She was a communicant of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, a member of the Catholic Women’s Club, and was one of the first residents of The Rose of Sharon Apartments.
She is survived by a daughter, Janice L. Blunt of Savannah; a sister, Lillian McCarthy of Savannah; two grandchildren, Stephen E. Blunt of Rincon and Carla Elizabeth Blunt and Alan Greenspan of Savannah; two great-grandchildren, Ashlynne Elayne Blunt and Zachary Stephen Greenspan; and several nieces and nephews.
A rosary service was held at 7 p.m Monday, February 2, at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

Phillip Narcarti
Phillip A. Narcarti, 44, died Monday, January 26, 2004, in Yuma, Arizona. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and lived in Glennville most of his life. He was a long haul truck driver with KLLM Truck Lines and a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Bacon Narcarti.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Narcarti of Glennville; parents, John and Barbara Narcarti of Glennville; one sister, Melanye Narcarti of Glennville; a brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Teresa Narcarti of Glennville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.
A rosary service was held at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, February 1, at Carter Funeral Chapel.
Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 2, at St. Jude Catholic Church, with Father Brian LaBurt officiating. Burial was in Love’s Chapel Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mark Narcarti, Tony Dubberly, Mike McClain, Tommy Dubberly, Jeffery Sapp, and Timmy Dubberly.

Minnie Williams
Minnie Mae Williams, 83, died Monday, February 2, 2004, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Tattnall County native was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Williams of Oak Park; two sons, Ronnie Williams of Reidsville and Darvin Williams of Augusta; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 4, at Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Marion “Dick” Patton officiating.
Pallbearers were grandsons.

Kate Burkhalter
Kate Tootle Burkhalter, 81, died Friday, January 31, 2003, at Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville, Georgia, after an extended illness. She was under the care of Ogeechee Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Rudolph Burkhalter. The child of John C. and Raney Lynn Tootle, she was a lifelong resident of Tattnall County. She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church, and a homemaker.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Faye Burkhalter of Glennville; one daughter, Lynn Tootle of Albany; five grandchildren: Susan Greer and Sandy Pazderski of Glennville; Lisa Raines and Laurie Whatley of Albany; and James Tootle of Boston, Massachusetts; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 2, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Posey officiating. Burial was in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jackie Moody, James Weitman, Pat Easterling, Quinton Burkhalter, Cleveland Burkhalter, Mark Whatley, and Steven Harper.

Horace C. “H. C.” Brannen, 80, died February 1, 2003, at Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville, Georgia. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of his life. He was a retired service station owner and operator. He was a U. S. Army veteran, and a member and elder of Glennville First Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth J. Brannen of Glennville; five daughters: Vickie Kyle of Savannah, Georgia; Pandy Wheeler of Hilton Head, South Carolina; Gilda Rogers of Claxton, Georgia; Edna Long of West Point, Georgia; and Debbie Tatum of Glennville; two sons, Ricky Brannen of Ludowici and Wally Brannen of Glennville; one brother, Billy Joe Brannen of Glennville; one sister, Marion Collins of Tecumseh, Michigan; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, February 3, at Glennville First Christian Church, with the Rev. David Everton officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.

Stella Wilson
Stella K. Wilson, 91, died Saturday, February 1, 2003, at Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville, Georgia. The Tattnall County native was a member of Glennville United Methodist Church. She was a retired beautician.
She is survived by her husband, William B. Wilson of Glennville; two sons, Gerald Wilson of Gordon and George Wilson of Sandersville; two sisters, Aldine Donaldson of Glennville and Wilowese K. Galbreath of Richmond Hill; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 3, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Posey and Elder Scott Williams officiating. Burial was in Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Vera DeLoach
Vera M. DeLoach, 83, died Thursday, January 30, 2003, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville, Georgia, and Long County most of her life. She was a homemaker, and a member of Little Rock Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Clayton Walker of Glennville; three sons and daughters-in-law: Marcus and Iris DeLoach and Ralph and Wynelle DeLoach, all of Glennville; and Frank and Catherine DeLoach of Jonesboro; one brother, Willie Milton of Ludowici; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 1, at Little Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gabe Gill officiating.
Pallbearers were Ronnie DeLoach, Harry Milton, James “Duck” DeLoach, Larry Flowers, Arnold Swindell, and Gerald Blocker.

Charles DuRose
Charles Edward “Chuck” DuRose, 62, died January 26, 2003, at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. After retiring from the U. S. Navy and Department of Defense, he was employed by Walt Disney World’s security department.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Roberta “Bobbie” DuRose; one daughter, Kim Hicks of Suffolk; two sons, Mark DuRose of Greenville, North Carolina, and Todd E. DuRose of Norfolk; six grandchildren: P. J., Amanda, Conner, Jackson, Carter, and Christina; seven brothers and sisters: Jack DuRose of Glennville, Georgia; James Patrick DuRose of Gloucester, Virginia; Harlene Vogel of Las Vegas, Nevada; Sylvia Campo and Cynthia Young of Amsterdam, New York; and Lois Hendricks and Linda Clause of Schenectady, New York; and several nieces, nephews, relatives, and close friends.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 1, at Jolliff Methodist Church.

Gene Strickland
Ernest “Gene” Strickland, 75, died Wednesday, January 28, 2003. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville, Georgia, and Tallahassee, Florida, most of his life. He was retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company as a sales manager. He was a member of Pioneer Baptist Church, a World War II Navy veteran, and a member of the Marzuq Shrine Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris Brannen Strickland of Crawfordville, Florida; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stuart Strickland and Stanley and Jane Strickland, all of Tallahassee, Florida; one daughter, Carol Strickland of Tallahassee, Florida; three sisters: Joyce Pryor of Tifton and Barbara Dasher and Linda Vaught, both of Glennville; four grandchildren: Lauren Strickland, Diana Strickland, Travis Strickland, and Michael Turner; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 2, at Carter Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Catherine Duffany, 82, died Saturday, February 1, 2003, at Meadows Regional Hospital. The New York native had lived in Glennville, Georgia, for many years. She was a homemaker, and a member of Pineview Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Joe Duffany of Glennville; and one daughter, JoAnn Parker of Schenectady, New York.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, at Pineview Baptist Church.

Tony Kissinger
Patrick A. “Tony” Kissinger, 21, died Friday, January 31, 2003, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. The Liberty County native had lived in Glennville, Georgia, most of his life. He was self-employed as a barber.
He is survived by his mother, Laura Kissinger of Glennville; his father, Craig Kissinger of Pennsylvania; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mandy and John Lester and Jackie Kissinger, all of Glennville; his maternal grandmother, Margaret Busby of Glennville; his paternal grandparents, Jack and JoAnn Kissinger of Pennsylvania; a niece, Rebekah Lester of Glennville; and several cousins, uncles, and aunts.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 3, at Carter Funeral Chapel in Glennville, with the Rev. John C. Nunes officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.

J. Floyd Bland, 62, died Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. The Tattnall County native was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church, and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Delorise Bland of Glennville, Georgia; two daughters and one son-in-law, Michelle and Dennis Davis and Lynne Bland, all of Glennville; one son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Debbie Bland of Glennville; one brother and sister-in-law, L. H. and JoNell Bland of Glennville; five grandchildren: Denine Bland, Dena Bland, Justin Davis, Jennifer Varnadoe, and Brittney Massey; and two nephews, Jimmy Bland and Jerry Bland, both of Glennville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 2, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Harris Nix officiating. Burial was in Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
