J. Odell Wilds, 81, died Thursday, January 27, 2000, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia, after a long illness. The lifelong resident of Tattnall County was a retired turpentine worker and attended Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Wilds of Glennville; one daughter, Wilma Baker of Glennville; four stepdaughters: Laverne Sutherland of Douglas; Mary Jane Moody and Vicki Barrow of Reidsville; and Betty Jean Hunter of Claxton; one stepson, Norman "Butch" Barrow of Dublin; one brother, Holland Wilds of Lyons; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 29, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Wilford Harden officiating. Burial was in the Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bobby Altman, Bill Whitlow, Billy Conley, Jerry Burkhalter, Jeffery DeLoach, and Quinton Rush.

Quinton Cammack
Quinton W. Cammack, 59, died Thursday, January 13, 2000, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of his life. He was a retired farmer and was employed by Wayne's Mobile Homes for the past 15 years. He was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Cammack of Glennville; one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Romeo DeAlejandro of Glennville; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Terri Cammack of Glennville and Greg Cammack of Glennville; his mother, Bonnie Cammack of Glennville; one sister, Lennie Ruth Hart of Glennville; one brother, Earl Cammack of Glennville; five grandchildren: Jessica and Jennifer Willeford, Quinton and Joey Cammack, and Cody DeAlejandro, all of Glennville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 15, at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Van Power and the Rev. Ernest Dyal. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were C. L. Sapp, Robert Dubberly, Jerry Kennedy, Louis Geiger, Gene Banks, and Jay Folsom.
All employees of Wayne's Mobile Homes sat together in his honor.

Ada Clary
Ada Lura Clary, 86, died Monday, January 10, 2000, at her residence in Baltimore, Maryland, after an extended illness. She was a native of Tattnall County but had lived in Maryland for the last 15 years. She was the widow of the late Curtis Eugene Clary of Glennville. She was a member of Arlington Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland.
She is survived by three sons: Gerald Clary of Springfield, Missouri; Curtis Clary of New Carrollton, Maryland; and Richard "Gene" Clary of Baltimore, Maryland; two daughters, Sue Sunderland of Lutherville, Maryland, and Peggy Thompson of Baltimore, Maryland; one brother, Vernon Todd of Glennville; three sisters: Luna Barnes and Louise Todd of Savannah and Vondell Lindsay of Baltimore, Maryland; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 15, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with David Clary and the Rev. Gerald Clary officiating. Burial followed in the Ebenezer Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Todd, Wayne Todd, Eddie Todd, Jeff Reynolds, Steve Todd, and Bill Wommack.

June Durrence
June Zorn Durrence, 83, died Tuesday, January 11, 2000, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. The Tattnall County native was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She was a former Sunday School teacher and pianist at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and Gospel Baptist Temple.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Juan and Patricia Durrence of Glennville and Ed and Patricia Durrence of Suwanee, Georgia; one daughter and son-in-law, Nell and James Bagwell of Lexington, South Carolina; one son-in-law, George McNair of Lyons; one sister, Sarah Ruth Jones of Glennville; one brother, Dan Zorn of Glennville; one aunt, Annie C. Bruner of Glennville; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, January 14, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Gay and the Rev. Oscar Rowe, Jr., officiating. Burial followed in Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gene Dutton, Dale Dutton, Gene Lee, McKinley Brown, Donald Akins, Grady Brannen, and Tommy Moore.

Hazel D. Sapp
Hazel D. Sapp, 90, died Friday, January 14, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah after a short illness. The Tattnall County native was a farmer, worked at Ft. Stewart in the 1940s, and was a retired school bus driver. He was the oldest living member of Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. He was also a Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn K. Sapp of Glennville; one son, Jerry Sapp of Glennville; one daughter, Judy Tippins of Hinesville; one grandson, David Sapp of Glennville; one granddaughter, Linda Ward of Allenhurst; four brothers: Thad Sapp and Prentice Sapp, both of Savannah; and Otis Sapp and Russell Sapp, both of Jacksonville, Florida; six sisters: Trudy Arbuckle, Lois Starland, Eula Mae Lanier, and Eva Martin, all of Jacksonville, Florida; and Bertha Todd of Bristol and Laverne Harris of Jesup; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 16, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with Elder W. H. Durrence officiating. Burial followed in Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dennis Ward, Kenny Brannen, Harry Middleton, Keith Branch, Gary Brannen, and Bill Kicklighter.

Warnell Stanfield
Warnell Stanfield, 61, died Friday, January 14, 2000, at Bulloch Memorial Hospital in Statesboro after a short illness. The Tattnall County native was a retired truck driver for the logging industry.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Stanfield of Glennville; three daughters and two sons-in-law: Cindy and William Jarriel of Glennville; Sandra and Terry Cason of Glennville; and Janet Anderson of Glennville; three sons and daughters-in-law: Leslie and Janet Stanfield of Glennville; Keith and Sherry Stanfield of Glennville; and Mitchell and Jenny Stanfield of Claxton; six sisters: Edith Driggers, Estelle Durrence Swain, Geneva Jackson, and Bertie Lou Parker, all of Glennville; Esel Ray of Rincon; and Marie Carraway of Tarpon Springs, Florida; one brother, H. A. Stanfield of Glennville; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 17, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Ernest Dyal officiating. Burial was private.

Glenn Stiegman, Sr.
Glenn A. Stiegman, Sr., died Tuesday, December 23, 2003, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Georgia. The New Orleans, Louisiana, native had lived in Glennville since 1961. He was of the Catholic faith.
He was retired from the U. S. Marine Corps, and served in the South Pacific in World War II and in the Korean War. He served as a member of the Tokyo Bay Occupation Force in the initial landing and occupation of the Tokyo Bay area and in the repatriation of the Japanese Army from North China. He also retired from U. S. Civil Service at Ft. Stewart after 27 years of service.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Dyess Stiegman of Glennville; one daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Russell Terry Waters of Glennville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn A., Jr., and Glenda Stiegman of Greer, South Carolina, and Steve and Pam Stiegman of Glennville; one brother and sister-in-law, Albert E. and Judy Stiegman of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Glenn Stiegman III, Ashley Stiegman, Amanda Stiegman, Shawn Waters, Ryan Waters, Brandon Waters, Garrett Stiegman, and Jonathan Carver; three great-grandchildren: Macy Waters, Jacob Carver, and Caleb Carver; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 26, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel.

Joseph Holloway
Joseph H. Holloway, 60, died Sunday, December 28, 2003, at his residence in Long County. The Lumpkin County native had lived in North Carolina, moving to Glennville several months ago. He was formerly employed at Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, North Carolina; a U. S. Army Vietnam veteran; and a Purple Heart recipient. He was a volunteer fireman in Lawrenceville.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Holloway of Kannapolis, North Carolina; two sons, Joe Holloway, Jr., of Kannapolis, North Carolina, and Matthew Holloway of Rockwell, North Carolina; five sisters: Linda Jordon and Mary Cooper, both of Grayson, Georgia; Brenda Donahue of Glennville, Georgia; Vickie Meadows of Lizella, Georgia; and Diane Cornejo of China Grove, North Carolina; two brothers, Allen Holloway of Grayson, Georgia, and Alfred Holloway of Bethlehem, Georgia; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services and burial were private.

Enoch Bradley, Sr.
Jesse Enoch Bradley, Sr., 94, died Sunday, December 28, 2003, at Henry Medical Center in Stockbridge, Georgia. The Tattnall County native was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church. He was a farmer, a Mason, and a Shriner. He was a member of Philadelphia Masonic Lodge #73 in Glennville and the Scottish Rite and Alee Shrine of Savannah. He was a life member of the Tattnall Shrine Club. He worked with the Tattnall County Board of Elections in the Tyson Precinct, and prior to his retirement as Precinct Manager, he was awarded a pin for more than 50 years of service. Although he spent most of his life working and living on his farm in the Battle Creek Community, he recently had been staying at Dream Catchers Farm near Jackson, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lessie Jones Spivey Bradley, and a son-in-law, Theron Standard.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Bradley of Reidsville; one daughter, Retha Standard of Hinesville; three sons and daughters-in-law: L. J. and Jackie Spivey of McDonough; Jesse E., Jr., and Elisabeth Bradley of Griffin; and Jerry and Linda Bradley of McDonough; one stepdaughter and spouse, Donna Sue and Richard Collier of Wilmington, North Carolina; one brother and sister-in-law, Doyt and Versie Bradley of Claxton; 16 grandchildren; 4 stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 9 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, at Watermelon Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Miller and the Rev. Jerry Knight officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Masonic Rites.
Active pallbearers were grandsons: Cortez Standard, Andrew Standard, Jerome Standard, Durand Standard, Kelvin Standard, John Spivey, Brad Spivey, and Mark Spivey.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Philadelphia Lodge #73 and the Tattnall Shrine Club.

Georgia Jones Davis
Georgia Jones Davis, 89, died December 26, 2002, at Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville, Georgia, after a long illness. She was under the care of Hospice. She was a native of Glennville but lived in Savannah, Georgia, most of her adult life. She was a real estate agent for many years, and an active member of the Independent Presbyterian Church in Savannah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry T. Davis; her daughter, Nancy; her parents, Linton W. and Ethel Dowdy Jones of Glennville; a brother, David Eston Jones of Glennville; and a sister, Jessie Nell Hobbs of Savannah.
She is survived by two goddaughters, Jeanne Griffin Kight of Claxton, Georgia, and Deborah Griffin Bowen of Savannah; a godson, Dr. Louie H. Griffin, Jr., of Augusta, Georgia; a great-nephew, David Matthew Bradley of Statesboro, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Lottie Weathers Jones of Glennville; and several cousins.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 30, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel in Claxton, Georgia. Interment was in Hillcrest Abbey in Savannah, with the Rev. Ronald H. Parrish officiating.
Pallbearers were Jerry Kight, Griff Surrency, Kirk Surrency, Terry Surrencey, Kennon Tatum, and Patrick O’Conner.

Edwin "Eddie" Deal
Edwin O. “Eddie” Deal, 52, died Tuesday, December 24, 2002, at his residence. The Tattnall County native was a U. S. Army veteran, and was employed in bridge construction work. He was predeceased by his mother, Frieda L. Deal.
He is survived by two sons, Chris Deal and Clay Deal; one sister, Faye Hayslip; one brother, Derrell Deal; a granddaughter, Christy Deal; his father, J. R. (Jr.) Deal; and his paternal grandmother, Daisy Deal, all of Glennville, Georgia.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 27, at Harmony United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tony Caldwell. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Danny Blocker, Buddy Deal, Gene Coleman, Charles Blocker, James Deal, and Larry Deal.

Aurelia Mitchell
Aurelia Rahn Mitchell, 93, died Saturday, December 21, 2002, at Claxton Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Hospice. The Tattnall County native was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church, and was a retired licensed practical nurse.
She is survived by one sister, Emily Rahn Keene of Claxton, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews: Diane Keene Rowe and Paulette and Tom Neal of Statesboro; Sherry Rahn Edwards and Ronnie Rahn of Glennville; and Wendell Murray of Orlando, Florida; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mrs. Mitchell donated her body to the Medical College of Georgia.
A memorial service was held Monday, December 23, at 11 a.m.

"Rod" Bowen
William Roderick "Rod" Bowen, 80, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at Azalealand Nursing Home in Savannah after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Glennville and had lived in Savannah most of his life. He was a World War II Navy veteran, and was a Small Arms Expert. He worked for Union Bag and Savannah Transit for several years. He worked for the Georgia State Prison System at Travis Field, and retired from the Corps of Engineers. He was a lifetime member of Acacia Lodge #452 F&AM, and an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of South Newington Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert Alex and Pearl Smiley Bowen; brothers, Aubrey and the Rev. Robert Odean Bowen; and a sister, Joyce Bowen Bennett.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Georgia Bailey Bowen of Savannah; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and William Robbins of Savannah; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard C. and Shirley Bowen of Lake Placid, New York; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Lynn Wardlaw of Savannah; grandchildren: Clay W. Branson, Sheila B. Naydeck, Kyle W. Robbins, and Daniel E. Bowen, all of Savannah; and Kristina L. Leary of Auburn, Georgia; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 30, at Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Glennville, with the Rev. David Tart officiating.
Pallbearers were Clay Branson, Delma Cowart, Kyle W. Robbins, Lynn Wardlaw, Mike Naydeck, Bobby Ashley, and Mike Bowen.
