LaWanda GeDawn Berry, 52, died February 21, 2005, at her home in Glennville after a short illness. She was born September 15, 1952, in Tattnall County, Georgia, to Lillie Mae Tippins and the late James W. Tippins, Sr. She attended Long County public school. She was a homemaker, and a member of First African Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Nathan Berry; her mother, Lillie Mae Tippins; seven children: Stephanie (Ricky) Thomas, Sheila (Amilo) Ford, Patricia Hendley, Tyrone Tippins, Terry Berry, Billy Hendley, and John Hendley, Jr., all of Glennville; three sisters: Shirline Perry of Augusta and Barbara Lisbon and Lisa (John) Davis of Glennville; six brothers: James (Brenda) Tippins, Jr., of Hinesville; Ralph (Annie Ruth) Tippins of Claxton; Dale Tippins of Pelham; Billy (Mary) Tippins of Augusta; Glenn Tippins of Ft. Pierce, Florida; and Joel (Carmoleta) Tippins of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; and four special friends: Cora Lee Roberson; John Hendley, Sr.; Randolph (Shakey) Adams; and Calvin Dickerson.
Funeral services were held Friday, February 25 , at 11 a.m. at First African Baptist Church in Glennville, with the Rev. Martin Bacon officiating. Interment was in Glennville Memorial Gardens.
The Rev. Mike Wood
The Rev. Mike Wood, 55, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Virginia native had lived in Brantley County for many years. He served pastorates in Pennsylvania for three years until moving to Collins in August 2004. He was the pastor of Collins Baptist Church, and a Vietnam veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Wood of Collins; one son, Grayson Wood of Collins; one daughter, Taylor Wood of Collins; one brother, Bill Wood of Florida; a nephew, Greg Wood of Cummings; his father and mother-in-law, George and Madeline White of Folkston; and a sister-in-law, Denise White of Jerusalem, Israel.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6, at Collins Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Patterson, the Rev. Jimmy Flanigan, and the Rev. Rich McCachan officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Greg Boyett, Don Warren, Brett McDaniel, Ronald Warren, Tony Hutcheson, and Calvin Shuman.
Honorary pallbearers were the deacons and the youths of Collins Baptist Church.

Joann S. Hughes
Joann Stanfield Hughes, 60, died Saturday, March 6, 2004, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born in Tattnall County where she lived all her life. She was a homemaker, and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Lewis Johnson, and a son-in-law, Milton Fulton.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Hughes of Collins; two children, Sheila Fulton of Glennville and Lila O’Neal of Collins; one daughter-in-law, Shannon Johnson of Glennville; three sisters: Shirley Lambert and Opal Wilson, both of Glennville, and Katie Ruth Williams of Reidsville; two brothers, J. E. Stanfield and Charles Stanfield, both of Glennville; her mother-in-law, Inez Hughes of Collins; nine grandchildren: Robert Fulton, Joey Fulton, Eddie Fulton, Erik O’Neal, Brandi O’Neal, Chase Davis, Ashley Johnson, Carlotta Cato, and Darwin Cato; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Gay, the Rev. Grady Walden, and Glen Stanfield officiating. Burial was in Stanfield Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Stanfield, Jimmy Joe Fuller, Butch Morgan, Jeff Hughes, Jim Stanfield, Stan Locke, Brian Gordy, and Alan Strickland.

Eric E. Jenkins
Eric E. Jenkins “Little Eric,” 28, died Saturday, March 6, 2004. He was born in Chatham County, and lived in Glennville, Georgia, all his life. He was a 1994 graduate of Tattnall County High School. He loved the outdoors, and worked with his family in the timber industry most of his life, currently employed by M. J. Logging. He was a member of Glennville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his mother and father, Sherri and Eric Jenkins of Glennville; one brother, Ander Jenkins of Glennville; one sister, Elizabeth Jenkins of Glennville; two nephews, Ander Jenkins and Tyler Jenkins; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Posey officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Allen Jenkins, Jason Jenkins, Kenton Jenkins, Heath Dasher, Taylor Jenkins, and Don Durrence.

Clifford Cunningham
Clifford Lee Cunningham, 55, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at his residence after an extended illness. The Bibb County native had resided in Reidsville, Georgia, since 1974. He was a teacher for 32 years, working for the Department of Corrections, Juvenile Justice, and public schools. When he wasn’t on the tennis court, he could be found in his shop, working on his latest project. He was often seen jogging or biking through town.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Marsha Cunningham of Reidsville; two sons, Cory Cunningham of Statesboro, Georgia, and Cody Cunningham of Reidsville; his mother, Adele Cunningham of Atlanta, Georgia; one brother, Bob Cunningham of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Reidsville United Methodist Church.

William "Billy" Sikes
William Herbert "Billy" Sikes, 72, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. The Tattnall County native was retired from the U. S. Army, having served 20 years; was a retired Civil Service employee at Ft. Stewart, Georgia; and was employed at Discount Auto Parts. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Julie and Wayne Dasher of Glennville, Georgia; one granddaughter, Ashton Dasher of Glennville; one son, William Herbert "Bill" Sikes, Jr., of Auburn; two sisters, Bobbie Reeves of Martinez and Mary Blocker of Glennville; and one brother, Oryce Sikes of Glennville.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 11, at 2 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with Bro. Robert Kicklighter officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Blocker, Clarence Pawloski, Chris Collins, David Brown, Joe Folsom, and Harold Reeves.

L. D. Todd
L. D. Todd, 63, died Monday, January 28, 2002, at St. John's Hospital in Oxnard, California. He was born March 25, 1938, in Tattnall County, Georgia, to Lewis Todd and Minnie (Barrow) Todd. His parents, sons Johnny Todd and Mark Todd, and brother Ralph Jernigan preceded him in death.
Mr. Todd was a retired dry cleaner owner and operator, and was also a U. S. Navy veteran. He lived most of his life in California.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Jordack Todd; two sons, David Todd of Mantica, California, and Michael Todd of Havelock, North Carolina; two daughters, Linda Todd of Santa Clara, California, and Lisa Todd of Mantica, California; one brother, Norris Jernigan of LaPorte, Indiana; and five granddaughters.
Memorial services and interment of ashes will be at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church and Cemetery in Tattnall County, Georgia, at a later date.

Laverne Kicklighter
Laverne Kicklighter, 68, who lived in Eastfield, Maryland, for more than 40 years, died February 21, 2002, at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, after a long battle with liver cancer.
The former Laverne Hunt was born and reared in Georgia. She played on a state champion basketball team during her high school years.
Years ago, she worked at Western Electric Company, but she spent most of her life as a homemaker.
When her sons were younger, she enjoyed taking family camping trips. She also liked traveling home to Georgia and spending as much time as possible with her four grandsons.
She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Dundalk VFW Post 6694.
In addition to her grandsons, she is survived by her husband of 50 years, Dan Kicklighter; sons Danny Kicklighter of Dundalk; Ricky Kicklighter of Pensacola, Florida; and Randall Kicklighter of Rosedale; brother Houston Hunt of New Jersey; and niece Marion Brown of Baltimore. She was predeceased by four sisters and four brothers.
The Rev. Ron Wright of Merritt Park Baptist Church conducted services February 24 at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.

Richard H. Anderson
Richard Hugh Anderson, 74, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at his residence under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in Massachusetts for many years, moving back to Tattnall County 15 years ago. He was a Navy veteran, and was retired from Paper Mills in Massachusetts.
He is survived by four daughters: Marie Leblanc and Nancy Bilotta, both of Leominster, Massachusetts; Mary Ann Silva of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; and Joan Huss of Springfield, Massachusetts; two sons, John Anderson of Leominster and Richard Anderson, Jr., of Fitchburg; two sisters, Carolyn Whitfield of Reidsville, Georgia; and Fay Flowers of Savannah, Georgia; three stepbrothers: Louis Brown of Claxton, Georgia; Aubrey Brown of Ellabell, Georgia; and W. J. Akins of Reidsville; one stepsister, Loree Sapp of Reidsville; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Carter Funeral Chapel in Glennville, Georgia. Burial was in Bay Branch Church Cemetery.

Alma Dahl
Almania Kicklighter Anderson, 90, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Evans Alma Cristina Navarro Dahl, 39, died Saturday, March 11, 2006, at Memorial Health University Medical Center. The Mexico native had lived in Chicago for many years, moving to Claxton two years ago. She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Christopher Catholic Church where she served as Voluntary Secretary. She served as a teacher for the Rectory Education Program and received the Bishop Gartland Award for distinguished service to the church.
She is survived by her husband, Ignacio Cepeda of Claxton; children: Natna G. Dahl, Jose A. Dahl, Manuel Cepeda, and Josue A. Sanchez, all of Claxton; parents, Andres and Maria Navarro of Claxton; brothers and sisters: Alberto Navarro and Josefina Navarro, both of Mexico; Alfredo Navarro of California; Consuelo Navarro, Luz Perez, and Moises Navarro, all of Claxton; Maria Garcia and Teresa Magallon, both of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Claxton, with Father Brian LaBurt officiating. Burial will be in Brewton Cemetery.

Dartho Brannen
Dartho "Doc" Brannen, 73, died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville all his life. He was a farmer, and a member and former Deacon of Birdford Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jency Ann Brannen of Glennville; a son, Gary Brannen of Glennville; a sister, Evelo Boatright of Valdosta; two brothers, Joe Brannen and Dannis Brannen, both of Glennville; three grandchildren: Candice Thompson, Henry Thompson, and Chase Brannen, all of Glennville; one great-grandson, Brannen Thompson; a special niece and nephew, Alicia and Dustin Rogers; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Oscar Rowe, Jr., and the Rev. Daniel Harris officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.

Danny DeLoach
Danny Ray DeLoach, 51, died Thursday afternoon, March 9, 2006, at Memorial Health Medical University Center. The Florida native had lived in Reidsville many years, moving to Mt. Vernon two and a half years ago. He was employed with Maxine Griner Trucking, and will be remembered as a Christian.
He is survived by his wife, Annie DeLoach of Mt. Vernon; his parents, Bernice and Vondell Iddins of Glennville; two daughters and son-in-law, Tabitha Renae and Clifford Brown of Hawaii and Vanessa Kay Hall of Hinesville; a son, Daniel Ray DeLoach-Warren of Atlanta; a sister and brother-in-law, Deb L. and Larry Brown of Glennville; a brother and sister-in-law, David E. and Teresa Iddins of Clarksville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Brandon J. Brown and Caleb Owen Hall; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Reidsville City Cemetery.

Thomas Odom
Thomas Odom, 72, of Americus, Georgia, died Friday morning, March 10, 2006, at his home after a long illness. He was born April 16, 1933, in Tattnall County, Georgia, the son of the late Leroy and Mildred Odom. He was a longtime resident of Wayne County, Georgia, before moving to Sumter County in 1972. Mr. Odom was plant manager of Gailey Industries Manufacturing, and was also owner and operator of Odom Catfish Farm. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Eldon Odom of Jesup, and a sister, Izola Johnson, of Glennville.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frankie Vernida Odom; three daughters and son-in-law: Norma Jean (Muffin) Jernigan of Americus; Patricia Vernita (Bunny) Odom of Americus; Debra J. and William David Wade, Sr., of Cordele; one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Larry (Bo) and Crystal Odom of Americus; one brother, Roscoe Odom of Glennville; and three sisters: Odessa Powell of Glennville and Janet Strickland and Monte Smith of Jesup; eight grandchildren: Jay Wesley Fox of Glennville; Christopher George Fox of Ideal; Frank Allen Belcher III of Newnan; Jonathan Lee Belcher of Byron; Tracey Lynn Wade Simmons of Cartersville; and William David Wade, Jr., Jimmie Allan Odom, and Cheri Lynnette Odom of Americus; 11 great-grandchildren: Hana Rose Fox and Gracie Anne Fox of Glennville; Ashlyn Nicole Belcher and Frank Allen Belcher IV of Newnan; Jonathan Cameron Belcher, Jimmie Allan Odom, Jr., and Caleb Layne Odom of Americus; Jonathan Daniel Belcher and Mackenzie Renee’ Belcher of Byron; and Cassy Faith Simmons and Cody Alexander Simmons of Cartersville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at Williams Road Church of Christ. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, officiated by Minister Bill Simmons and Minister Jimmy Tuten.
