James P. Brazell, Sr.
James P. Brazell, Sr., died at his residence in Savannah on Saturday, December 31, 2005. The Tattnall County native had lived in Rincon and Savannah most of his life. He was a farmer, and retired from Seaboard Atlantic Coastline as an engineer. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and was of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Harris Brazell, and a grandson, Daniel Harris MacDonald.
He is survived by two sons, James Parks Brazell, Jr., of Savannah and John Clary Brazell of Thunderbolt; two daughters, Winnifred "Wendy" MacDonald of Cochran and Ann Wilkerson Newton (Warren) of Savannah; one sister, Jackie Lumpkin of Reidsville; two brothers, M. F. Brazell and Edsel O. Brazell, both of Reidsville; 12 grandchildren: Nancy Rowland, Sherry Stallworth, James Brazell III, Johnathon Brazell, Casey Brazell, Wendy Wilkerson, Jay Wilkerson, Shannon MacDonald, Brian MacDonald, Patrick MacDonald, Michael MacDonald, and Colleen MacDonald; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2006, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sterling Bargeron officiating. Interment was in Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Johnny Igou, Eddie Brazell, David Brazel, David Wayne Igou, Jerry Brazell, Keith Brazell, Warren Newton, and James Parks Brazell III.

Myrtis Hill
Myrtis Austin Hill, 93, died Monday, January 2, 2006, at Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. The Paulding County native had lived in Columbus for many years, moving to Glennville one year ago. She was a homemaker, and a member of Midway United Methodist Church in Columbus. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Roy Hill; and her parents, William Asberry and Ida Fuller Austin.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Thomas Rowe of Glennville; a son, Michael F. Hill of Columbus; a sister, Kate Smith of Smyrna; grandsons, Danny (Belinda) Rowe of Twin City and Greg (Debbie) Rowe of Screven; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 5, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, at Midway United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.

Valdorie Lynn
Valdorie Hutcheson Lynn, 84, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at Tattnall Healthcare in Reidsville. The Tattnall County native had lived in Collins all her life. She was a homemaker, and a member of Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Lynn; a daughter, Wanda Jean Morgan; and two grandsons, Lewis Frank Lynn and Roy Jones.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Pat Lynn and Harry and Ann Lynn, all of Collins; two sisters, Alma Hutcheson and Edna Dees, both of Collins; a brother, L. E. Hutcheson of Collins; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, at Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 5, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, with Elder Junior Tidwell officiating. Interment will follow in Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church.

Shirley Ann Tootle
Shirley Ann Santiago Davis Tootle died Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at 12:27 a.m. She was born February 7, 1947. She was a member of Greater Zachariah Baptist Church, and a former member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She received her education in the Trenton public school in Trenton, New Jersey. She finished nursing school as a nurse's aide; received her welder's license at Trenton Vocational Tech in Trenton, New Jersey; and worked under the guiding helping hand of Martha Hall of Waycross as a housekeeper. She was employed with the Tattnall County School System where she served as a food service worker. She also worked at Claxton Poultry as a processor. She was in the choir and received numerous certificates. She was a member of the Marvelous Women's Society Club in Waycross.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Tootle and Leon Tootle.
She is survived by her daughter, Tonya Denise Richardson of Trenton New Jersey; her father, Prentis Tootle of Trenton, New Jersey; her mother, Mildred Lee Tootle of Glennville; two grandsons, Rawmean K. Davis and Russell K. Davis, both of Trenton, New Jersey; two great-grandchildren, Saimya T. Davis of Morrisville, Pennsylvania, and Kashala Ann Davis of Kenneth Square, Pennsylvania; two brothers, James Tootle of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jesse Tootle of Delaware; three sisters, Equndia Young and Carlotta Bell, both of Trenton, New Jersey; and Patrica Collins of Glennville; one brother-in-law, Michael Collins of
Glennville; several nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; special friends, Pat Brown and Ervin Roberts; prayer partner, Rubena Surrency; and special cousins, Angie Henry, Bridgett Brown, Ann Phillips.

2006, at 2 p.m. at Greater Zachariah Missionary Baptist Church in Glennville, conducted by Dr. C. L. Anderson and the Rev. Walter Scott.

Katie Ruth Stanfield Williams, 75, died Thursday, December 29, 2005, at Tattnall Nursing Care. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was a seamstress, waitress, homemaker, and a member of Glennville First United Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Carroll and Joan M. Morgan and J. C. "Butch" and Joan H. Morgan, all of Swainsboro; sisters, Shirley Lambert and Opal Wilson, both of Glennville; brothers, J. E. Stanfield and Charles Stanfield, both of Glennville; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 31, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. James M. Holland officiating. Burial was in Stanfield Family Cemetery.

Lucille Barrow Thompson, 73, died Sunday, January 2, 2005, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Evans County native had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was a homemaker, and attended Liberty Fellowship Church of God.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law: Brenda and Timmy Dubberly of Glennville; Judy and Dean Cameron of Claxton; and June Cowart of Aiken, South Carolina; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Deborah Thompson of Glennville; sisters, Pete Rewis and Sue West, both of Claxton; brothers: Joe Barrow of Claxton, Garland Barrow of Wrightsville, and Jimmy Barrow of Lyons; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. John Nunes officiating. Burial was in Emmaus-Red Hill Church Cemetery in Evans County.

Peggy D. Fowler
Peggy D. Fowler, 65, died Saturday morning, January 1, 2005, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville most of her life. She was a naturalist, employed many years with Gordonia Alatamaha State Park, and was a member of Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Fowler, and a brother, Dan Dubberly.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Don Sikes of Collins; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tony Fowler of Collins and Ronald and Debbie Fowler of Reidsville; three sisters: Virginia Boone, Bonnie Johnson, and Carol Burkhalter, all of Glennville; three brothers: Reginald Dubberly of Glennville, Pat Dubberly of Florida, and Jack Dubberly of Lyons; four grandchildren: Jill Sikes, Alan Sikes, Mathew Fowler, and Rudy Fowler; her caregiver, Tracy Johnson of Reidsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Greg Smith. Interment was in Reidsville City Cemetery.

William H. "Sonny Boy" Skipper
William H. “Sonny Boy” Skipper, 71, died Friday, December 31, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah. He was a lifelong resident of Long County. He was a member of Allenhurst Presbyterian Church. He retired as a maintenance foreman from the Georgia Department of Transportation after 34 years. He was a Long County Commissioner-Elect from District 5. He was an avid outdoorsman.
He is survived by his wife, Lena Skipper of Long County; daughters and sons-in-law: Sheila and David Morris, Wanda and Dale Parker, and Linda and Randy McMillan, all of Long County; one sister, Virginia Williams of Long County; two brothers, Thomas Skipper of Long County and Harry Skipper of Allenhurst; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2005, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel, with the Rev. John Gladin and the Rev. Fred Boozer officiating. Burial was in Concord Cemetery.

Dr. Phil Russell
Dr. Phil L. Russell, 63, died Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia. The Laurens County native moved to Tattnall County in 1972. He retired as Assistant Superintendent for the Tattnall County School System in 1995. He was a member of Collins United Methodist Church, an avid fisherman, and a gardener. He was preceded in death by his father, O. L. Russell, and a wife, Jacquelyn S. Russell.
He is survived by his wife, Sigrid B. Russell of Collins; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike Russell of Lewisville, Texas, and Jeff and Cheryl Russell of Tampa, Florida; his mother, Ruby C. Russell of Dublin; a stepson, Jack D. Davis III of Durham, North Carolina; a stepdaughter and her husband, Evelyn and Billy Willett of Lyons; a brother, Donald Russell of Cadwell; a sister, Ruby Mallory of Dublin; and nine grandchildren: Kaitlin, Madison, Samuel, Melinda, Jonathan, Shelby, Sydney, Jason, and Megan.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 31, at Collins United Methodist Church. Burial was in Collins Baptist Cemetery.

Corinne McCall
Corinne Rogers McCall, 86, died Sunday morning, January 2, 2005, at Candler Hospital in Savannah after a long illness. The Tattnall County native was a member of Reidsville United Methodist Church, and ran a business as a beautician for 66 years before retiring due to health reasons in 2001. She was a member of the Tommy Thompson Sunday School Class, and had been recently recognized as a charter member of the Reidsville United Methodist Church Missionary Support Group as well as one of the oldest surviving members. She was a long-time member of the Reidsville Rascalettes. She was the oldest of seven children of the late Aden and Lennie Easterling Rogers of Glennville. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, A. E. McCall; a daughter, Dianne McCall Glisson; and a brother, Gene Rogers.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Barbara McCall of Reidsville; two brothers, Azeph D. Rogers and G. W. Thompson, both of Glennville; three sisters: Celina Sharpe of Reidsville and Carolyn Sands and Christine Durrence, both of Glennville; four grandchildren: Dane Glisson, Derek Glisson, Travis McCall, and Casey McCall Corbett; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 4, at Reidsville United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. John Donaldson. Interment was in Reidsville City Cemetery.

Georgia M. Boula, 56, died Friday, December 31, 2004, at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia. The New York native had lived in Tattnall and Toombs counties for the past 36 years. She was employed with the Georgia Department of Corrections at Georgia State Prison as a records clerk. She was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her husband, Frank L. Boula of Lyons; daughters and son-in-law, Corrina M. Boula of Lyons and Michelle and Jose Hernandez of Charleston, South Carolina; a son and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Arminda Boula of Swainsboro; brothers and sister-in-law, Charles and Etsuko Rose of Sanford, New York, and Howard Rose II of Grand Gorge, New York; a sister, Linda Brannon of Grand Gorge, New York; two grandchildren, Kathryn E. Boula and Sarah D. Boula; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2005, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with Chaplain V. Lyte officiating. Burial was in Glennville Memorial Gardens.

Nell Driggers
Nell Kicklighter Driggers, 79, died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at Spanish Oaks Retreat in Savannah, Georgia. The Tattnall County native had lived in Savannah most of her life. She was a charter member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Savannah where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and a youth worker.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John “Winton” Driggers of Savannah; one daughter, Jan Joyner of Savannah; one son, Don Driggers of Savannah; and two brothers, Demery Kicklighter of Gray and Eugene Kicklighter of Glennville, Georgia; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 4, at 11 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Hughes officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.

Martha Benton
Martha A. Benton, 88, died December 31, 2002, at Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville, Georgia. She was born in Duplin County, North Carolina, and had resided in Tattnall and Evans counties for the past 62 years. She was a member of Manassas United Methodist Church and the Chapter of the Eastern Star. She retired as U. S. Postmaster for the Manassas Post Office and as kitchen manager for Pinewood Christian Academy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper L. “Lib” Benton.
She is survived by one son, James F. “Buddy” Benton of Bellville; two daughters, Reba Roberts and Janice Morgan, both of Reidsville; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 3, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Manassas United Methodist Church, with Dr. Tab Smith officiating. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery.
