Faye P. Anderson
Faye P. Anderson, 45, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2003, after a battle with cancer. She was a native of Glennville and co-owner of Tattnall Insurance and Realty. As an active member of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church, she touched many lives with the musical talent with which God had blessed her. She assisted in the music ministry as an organist and choir member. Her love, inspiration, and faith will truly be missed. Faye’s memory will be cherished and never forgotten by all her loved ones and friends she made along the way.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Royce B. Anderson of Glennville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Alexis Anderson and Renee and Keith Dixon, all of Glennville; one son and daughter-in-law, Major Ron and Julie Anderson of Las Vegas, Nevada; her parents, Truett and Irma Purvis of Glennville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Alan Purcell and Linda and Randy Bradley, all of Glennville; three grandchildren: Avery, Zachary, and Logan; several nieces and nephews; and two special daughters she considered her own, Jane Joyner and April Pirkle.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Bryan and the Rev. Steve Posey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Walt Purcell, Lawrence Bradley, Lance Bradley, Randy Purvis, Bernard Purvis, Gene Kicklighter, David Kicklighter, and Grant Kerr.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Glennville High School Class of 1975.

Mearl "Bo" Blocker
Mearl H. “Bo” Blocker, 51, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville after a long illness. The Tattnall County native had lived in Dacula since 1979. He was retired from the Department of Transportation, and was a member of Birdford Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hughes Blocker.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Barns Blocker of Dacula; children and spouses: Michael and Debbie Sneed of Maysville; Sam and Melissa Sneed of Flowery Branch; and Jason and Jessica Blocker and Travis Blocker of Dacula; two sisters, Janette and Jerry Howard of Ludowici and Janice and Harold Todd of Glennville; two grandchildren, Christopher Sneed and Becky Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Michael Sneed, Sam Sneed, Jason Blocker, Travis Blocker, Timothy Todd, and Lee Howard.
Honorary pallbearers were William Anderson, Larry DeLoach, Stuart Bland, Clay Trim, Kenny Wells, and Wendell Colson.

Lewis E. Edenfield
Lewis E. “Tar-Baby” Edenfield, 67, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. The Emanuel County native had lived in Savannah many years, moving to Glennville 17 years ago. He was a retired truck driver, a Korean War veteran, and a member of Swainsboro Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by two children, Robert Dewayne Reynolds and Kathy Winningham, and a brother, A. G. Edenfield.
He is survived by his wife, Vercille Edenfield of Glennville; three daughters: Peggy Canady of Metter; Frankie James of Ridgeland, South Carolina; and Sue Strickland of Mocksville, North Carolina; four sons: Dennis Reynolds of Glennville; George Edenfield of River Head, New York; Eddie Edenfield of New Jersey; and James P. Edenfield of Greenville, South Carolina; one sister, Louise Overstreet of Swainsboro; one brother, Bob Edenfield of Glennville; 20 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Morgan officiating. Burial was in Lyons City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Troy Canady, James Davis, Todd Canady, Shad Dasher, Terry Bargeron, Quinton Rush, Steve Rush, and David Faircloth.

Ronnie K. McCloud
Ronnie K. McCloud, 45, died Sunday, May 22, 2005, at Memorial Health University Medical Center. The native of Washington, D. C., was a graduate of Garfield High School in Woodbridge, Virginia, where he was the recipient of the prestigious Virginia State Governor’s Honor. He attended college on a baseball scholarship, and received numerous honors and awards throughout his high school and college career. He was employed as general superintendent for McKnight Construction Company of Augusta, Georgia, for the past 23 years. He was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church, and the Evans Heights Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife, Terri DeLoach McCloud of Glennville; two sons, Justin McCloud and Chase McCloud, both of Glennville; his mother, Joyce Ann McCloud of Stafford, Virginia; his father and stepmother, Vernon D. and Nancy McCloud of Goldvein, Virginia; two sisters, Teresa King of Dumfries, Virginia, and Katie McCloud of Goldvein, Virginia; one brother, Randie Lynn McCloud of Woodbridge, Virginia; his grandmother, Murlee McCloud of Bridgeport, Alabama; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews in West Virginia, Ohio, and Alabama.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Glennville First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Rustin and Elder Spencer Moore officiating. Burial was in Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Lola Coleman
Lola Beasley Coleman, 96, died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Tattnall native was a retired school teacher, having taught 37 years in the Tattnall County School System. She was a member of Glennville United Methodist Church and the Cowart Memorial Sunday School Class.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Vonceil B. and Junior J. Kirkland of Glennville; a son, Jimmy A. Beasley of St. Simons Island; a grandson, Kenneth J. Kirkland of Warner Robins; a sister, Lothair Smith of Claxton; a daughter-in-law, Linda Beasley of St. Simons Island; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville chapel, with the Rev. Steve Posey officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jerry Burkhalter, Bran Thompson, Dorsey Thompson, David Smith, Daniel Smith, and Pat Banks.

Cassie Lovett
Cassie Lovett, 86, died May 20, 2005, at Glenvue Nursing Home. She was born in Sylvania, Georgia, on October 6, 1918, to the late Vince and Anna Doe. She relocated to Glennville, Georgia, in 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband, Atris Lovett, and a son, Sidney Lovett.
She is survived by one son, Sylvester (Patsy) Lovett; daughters: Dollie A. Bacon, Dessine (Horace) Hinds, Louise Grant, Ida (Oscar) Grimes, and Co-Pastor Gertie (Pastor Wallace) Grant, all of Glennville; one stepdaughter, Betty S. Smith of Claxton; one adopted daughter, Lula M. Tillman of Glennville; one sister, Evelyn Lanier of Sylvania; four sisters-in-law: Rosetta McCloud and Lula Johnson of Glennville; Lottie Doe of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and Irene Doe of Sylvania; 52 grandchildren; 159 great-grandchildren; and 59 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. (She raised 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren in her home.)
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 28, at 1 p.m. at Hagan Temple Church. Burial will be in Eureka Cemetery in Hagan, Georgia.

Daisy Deal
Daisy Deal, 96, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Florida native had lived most of her life in Glennville. She was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rufus Deal, and two sons, Albert S. Deal and John L. Deal.
She is survived by two sons, J. R. Deal, Jr., of Glennville, and William Clayton Deal of Bloomingdale; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 24, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with Dr. Tony Caldwell officiating. Burial was in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Derrell Deal, Buddy Deal, Larry Deal, James Deal, Johnny Deal, and David Deal.

Virginia Lewis
Virginia Carolina Perry Lewis, 93, of Pine Harbor, Georgia, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at Liberty Regional Medical Center in Hinesville, Georgia. Born in Edgefield County, South Carolina, on March 3, 1911, she was the daughter of the late George P. Perry and Ora Crouch Perry and the widow of the late James Graham Lewis, Sr. She was a graduate of Johnston, South Carolina, High School; a homemaker; and a member of First United Methodist Church of Conyers.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. W. T. (Lona) Simril and Orabelle Perry Smith; a half sister, Louise Smith; a brother, Franklin Perry; and a half brother, Paul Perry.
She is survived by a son, J. Graham Lewis, Jr., of Pine Harbor; three grandchildren: Griffin Earl Lewis of Richmond Hill, Georgia; Clair Elizabeth Harrison of Atlanta; and Catherine Louise Larkin of Belvedere Island, Georgia; and two great-grandchildren, Griffin James Larkin and Emory Leigh Larkin of Belvedere Island.
Graveside services were held Monday, May 24, at 2 p.m. at Siloam Cemetery, with the Rev. Les Cowart and William Perry Simril officiating.

Madera D. Smith
Madera Dasher Smith, 84, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Southeast Medical Center in Brunswick, Georgia. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville and Claxton before retiring to Jekyll Island about ten years ago. She was a member of the Claxton United Methodist Church, and was the former owner and operator of Madera’s Gift Shop in Claxton. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Smith, and a son, Dana J. Smith.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Judy Smith of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Alex and Nan Smith of Duluth, Georgia; one brother and sister-in-law, John Arthur and Bootsie Dasher of Glennville; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel. Burial was in Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mildred C. Suggs, 79, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. The Pulaski County native had lived in Port Wentworth before moving to Reidsville, Georgia, one year ago. She was a member of Reidsville United Methodist Church, and a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Franklin of Reidsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Jodi Suggs of Lula; three sisters: Louise Gamble of Columbus; Evelyn West of Lilly; and Ruth Chandler of Lula; grandchildren: Charles Franklin of Reidsville, Jeff and Lynn Suggs of Gainesville, and Ryan and Sonja Suggs of Homer; one great-grandchild, Lynsey Morgan of Gainesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Cobb Funeral Home, Reidsville Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Marshall Singletary. The eulogy was given by Doug Wilson. Burial was in Pleasant Hills Baptist Church Cemetery at 6 p.m. in Hall County, conducted by the Rev. Paul Morris.

Hazel Durrence Slaydon, 88, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, in Houston, Texas. The Tattnall County native had lived in Houston since 1955. She was a homemaker, and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Earl Slaydon.
She is survived by one son, Richard D. Slaydon of Estes Park, Colorado; grandchildren: Matt and Annette Slaydon and David and Crystal Slaydon of Phoenix, Arizona; and Leah Slaydon of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and one great-grandson, Tobias Slaydon of Phoenix, Arizona.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Beards Creek Church Cemetery, with Elder Scott Williams officiating.

Susan E. Police, 64, died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at her residence in Bellevue, Nebraska.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Police; two daughters, Lori and Gary Dennis of Littleton, Colorado, and Alice and Bernard Kusek of Bellevue; one son, Donald and Catherine Police of Glennville, Georgia; one brother, Donald Lidstand of New Jersey; and ten grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 30, in Bellevue Cemetery in Bellevue, Nebraska. Interment was held in Bellevue Cemetery.

William Morris
William Everett Morris, 50, died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville, Georgia, most of his life. He was a retired truck driver, and a Baptist.
He is survived by one daughter, Roxie D. Morris of Glennville; two sisters, Mary Morris Theus of Jesup, Georgia, and Nancy Yearta of Darien, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Van Power officiating. Burial was in Birdford Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sara Lucy Rustin Cowan, 79, died Saturday, May 25, 2002, after a short illness. She was a lifelong resident of Glennville, Georgia, and was retired from Tattnall-Evans Service Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Glennville.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Miriam and Colby Tilley of Kennesaw and Saralyn and Barry Tootle of Glennville; a son and daughter-in-law, Budd and Cindy Cowan of Marietta; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Cleveland of Hartwell; grandsons, Jason and Sharla Tilley of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Chad Cowan of Kennesaw; granddaughters: Sarah Tilley of Kennesaw, Grace Cowan of Marietta, and Rachel Allen and Rita Tootle, both of Savannah; a great-granddaughter, Caitlin Allen of Savannah; and nieces and nephews: Keith and Gayle Rustin of Glennville; Angelyn and Frankie Mewborn of Warm Springs; Kay and Bill Chafin of Hartwell; and Carol Tinkley of Orlando.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 27, at 2 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Keith Rustin. The eulogy was given by Jason Tilley and Cindy Cowan. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
