Bettie Wilds
Bettie Stanfield Wilds, 67, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at her home under the care of Ogeechee Hospice. The Tattnall County native was retired from Glenvue Nursing Home, and was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Vickie Wilds and Carol Peebles, both of Reidsville; two sons, Gary Anderson of Reidsville and Johnny Anderson of Gautier, Mississippi; one sister, Thelma Edenfield of Screven; one brother, James Stanfield of Stockton, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at Twin Oaks Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerald Dorr officiating. Burial was in Watermelon Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Danny Anderson, Caroll Anderson, Ronald Anderson, Jody Elliott, Lester “Bubba” Burkhalter, and Bob Hickox.

Marjorie Williams
Marjorie K. Williams, 79, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Evans Memorial Hospital. She was a Tattnall County native, a member of Ella Grove Baptist Church, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Williams, and a son, Ferrell Williams.
She is survived by one daughter, Lori Cheney of Douglas; two sons, Joel Williams of Darien and Donnie Williams of Vidalia; five sisters: Doris Edwards, Willie Jo Dowdy, and Barbara Dreggors, all of Glennville; Lucy Seltenright of Los Angeles, California; and Mary Sue Hodovanic of Toronto, Ohio; one brother, Graham Knight of Glennville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 28, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville chapel, conducted by the Rev. Kenny Edwards. Burial was in Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jeremy Williams, Brad Williams, John Williams, Charles Edwards, Scott Waters, and Ben Dowdy.
Honorary pallbearers were Danny Lynn, Dale Dutton, Jackie Dasher, and Dub Edwards.

Joyce Thompson
Joyce Bacon Thompson, 84, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross. She was a lifelong resident of Tattnall County, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Glennville where she had taught Sunday School, Bible School, and had served on various church committees. She was a graduate of Brewton-Parker College and Georgia Teachers’ College (now Georgia Southern University). She was a retired school teacher, having taught 34 years in the Tattnall County School System. She was a member of the Retired Tattnall Teachers Association and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, J. Ishmael Thompson of Glennville; one son and daughter-in-law, Juan and Phyllis Thompson of Glennville; one sister, Norma Bacon Wilkes of Glennville; one brother, John Bacon of Lenoir, North Carolina; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Keith Rustin. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ralph Bowden, Jeff Odom, Terry Quick, Joey Futch, Jared Durrence, and Vernon Dasher.

James Dasher
James A. Dasher, 75, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at his residence under the care of Coastal Hospice. He was a native and lifelong resident of Tattnall County, a farmer, and a Baptist.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Renee Dasher of Glennville; three granddaughters: Chancey Dasher, Amy Dasher, and Amber Dasher, all of Glennville; one sister, Eloise Griner of Lyons; three brothers: Richard Dasher, Jerry Dasher, and Roger Dasher, all of Glennville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Oscar Rowe, Jr., officiating. Burial was in Glennville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Dana Reynolds, Carl Flathmann, David Baxter, Fred McKenzie, Barry Griner, and Vannie Lee Rolls.

Ray Lecounte
Ray Lecounte, 45, of Glennville, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Medical Center, Ft. Gordon, Georgia. The West Palm Beach, Florida, native had served in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Hagan Temple Grace Deliverance Church in Hagan, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Lecounte of Glennville; three sons: Tyrone Lecounte, Ray Lecounte, Jr., and Maurice Lecounte, all of Glennville; one daughter, Christine Lecounte of Glennville; his mother and stepfather, Louise and Joshua Wynn of Riceboro; his father, Abraham Woods of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sisters, Angela Wynn of Brunswick and Eleana Woods of Ft. Myers, Florida; two brothers, Joseph Wynn of Riceboro and Joseph Woods of Ft. Myers, Florida; his mother-in-law, Rosa Lee Moss of Hagan; one grandchild; three aunts, two uncles, three great-aunts, and one great-uncle; five brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and several other relatives.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at First Zion Baptist Church in Riceboro. Burial was in the church cemetery. A wake service was held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 27, at the W. H. Whitaker Memorial Chapel, Whitaker Funeral Home in Metter.

Lee Jones
R. Lee Jones, Sr., 86, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at his residence. The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville, Georgia, most of his life. He was the former owner of Jones Trailer Park in Glennville. He was a retired farmer, and a member of Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. He was also a Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Fisher Jones; three sisters: Theresa Griffin, Myrtice Waters, and Allene Ray; and three brothers, T. B. Jones, Rudolph Jones, and Ned Jones.
He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law: Shelby “Jean” Lester Slaton of Reynolds; Patsy and Carroll Pinckney of Claxton; Peggy Munch of Port St. Lucie, Florida; and Valree and Steve Holton of Reidsville; three sons and daughters-in-law: Wasdon Lee and Crystal Jones of Eulonia; Bob and Debbie Jones of Vidalia; and Chuck Jones of Sumter, South Carolina; one sister, Doris Rowell of Reidsville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Battle Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Caswell Yawn
Caswell S. Yawn, 77, died Saturday, June 21, 2003, at his residence under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. He was born and reared in Ray City, Georgia, and lived in Jesup many years before moving to Reidsville 30 years ago. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and retired after 25 years of service from Georgia State Prison as an x-ray technologist. He was currently working part time as a lab technologist with Doctor’s Lab in Vidalia. He was a member and a deacon of Reidsville Baptist Church, Past Master of Rising Sun Lodge #32, served on the Board of Directors of the Reidsville Lions Club, and was a member of Reidsville VFW Post #7760. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clayton Samuel Yawn of Florence, South Carolina, and Vera Roberts Yawn of Ray City, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Curl Yawn of Reidsville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Clayton and Ellie Yawn of Green Cove Springs, Florida, and Greg and Susan Yawn of Dacula, Georgia; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, Mike and Kelly Canady of Hagan and Wayne and Tammy Canady of Reidsville; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Teresa and Darrion Stanfield of Reidsville; two sisters, D’Ree Natale of Washingtonville, New York, and Allene Stutzman of Pinehurst, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, at Reidsville Baptist Church. Interment was in Reidsville City Cemetery, with Masonic Burial Rites given.

Margie Sutton
Margie James Sutton died Thursday, June 23, 2005, in Baptist Medical Center in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The Toombs County native had lived in Glennville for the past 44 years. She was a member of Glennville United Methodist Church where she served as Director of Education.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, J. Royce Sutton; a daughter, Sheryl S. Bowen; and a son, R. Wayne Sutton, all of Glennville; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Sutton of Shellman Bluff and Jennifer Sutton of Savannah.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Glennville United Methodist Church. Interment was in Pinecrest Cemetery in Vidalia.
Pallbearers were Willie Bland, Daniel Smith, Pat Banks, Mike Mulligan, David Smith, and Jerry Burkhalter.

Mary Ann Tatum
Mary Ann Anderson Tatum, 56, died Thursday, June 23, 2005, at her residence. The Tattnall County native had lived most of her life in Reidsville, and was retired from the Claxton Housing Authority. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Willie Anderson.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Mitchell of Reidsville; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Michelle Mitchell of Reidsville; Paul and Teresa Mitchell of Paintsville, Kentucky; and Shannon and Janice Mitchell and Josh and Kristen Mitchell of Palatka, Florida; two sisters, Patsy Hunter and Carol Webb, both of Reidsville; a brother, Jesse Anderson of Daisy; and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Cobb Funeral Home, Reidsville chapel. Burial was in Reidsville City Cemetery.

Barbara Sikes
Barbara Ann Cates Sikes, age 72, died Wednesday, June, 22, 2005, at Candler County Hospital. The Lawrenceville native lived several years in Cumming. After marrying Bill in 1958, his job carried them to Mississippi, Tennessee, Brunswick, and then they returned to his family farm in Cobbtown. She was a bookkeeper with the Tattnall County Board of Education for 25 years, and a member of Connors Baptist Church where she served as the church secretary for many years and was head of the cemetery committee. She was a member of the Tattnall Travelers, an avid gardener, and an antique collector. She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Sikes.
She is survived by a son and daughter-In-Law, Stacy and Shannon Sikes of Cobbtown; and two grandchildren, Wyatt and Megan Sikes.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, at Connors Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Sterling Bargeron. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Kevin Hendrix, Hughes Williamson, Ken Tatum, Kevin Tatum, Reese McCorkle, and Johnny Sikes.

Grady Kicklighter
Grady Downer Kicklighter, 77, died Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, with his family at his side. The Chatham County native and graduate of Emory University School of Law was a longtime resident of Newnan, and a veteran of the U. S. Navy, an attorney-at-law, a banker, and a government employee until his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan. He was preceded in death in 1971 by his wife, Marjorie Faulkner Kicklighter, RN.
He is survived by four children: Dr. Marty K. Walker of Jacksonville, Florida; Judith Ann Kicklighter of Jonesboro, Georgia; Paul Kicklighter of King George, Virginia; and Dr. Stephen Kicklighter of Raleigh, North Carolina; a brother, Edward C. Kicklighter of Alexandria, Virginia; a sister, Gloria Warren of Columbus, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 26, at Beards Creek Church Cemetery, with Bro. Robert Kicklighter officiating.
