Dr. Ernesto Ledesma
Dr. Ernesto Locsin Ledesma, 62, died July 26, 2002, at his residence in Bellville, Georgia. He was born in the Philippines to the late Ricardo and Manuela Ledesma. He was a physician in Claxton, Georgia, who specialized in Pediatrics and Child and Adult Psychiatry for the past 35 years. He was a member of PAMAG (Philippine-American Medical Association of Georgia) and the America Medical Association. He was a member of St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Claxton. He and his family resided in Bellville, Evans County, Georgia, for many years.
Dr. Ledesma was a man of great character and had a compassionate heart. He touched many people in his life through his healing touch and his unconditional love. He was the greatest father and grandfather a family could ever hope to have.
He is survived by his wife, Virgie V. Ledesma; two sons, Ernest Ledesma of Rincon, Georgia, and Paul Ledesma of Boston, Massachusetts; three daughters: Melissa Confer of Augusta, Georgia; Michelle Glisson of Claxton; and Rachelle Nall of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandsons: Ethan, Caelan, and Sam; one granddaughter, Annie; one sister; five brothers; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Claxton, Georgia. Burial was in Glennville Memorial Gardens in Glennville, Georgia.

Harvey Blocker
Jacob Harvey Blocker, 78, died Monday, July 29, 2002, at his home in Long County. He was a native of Tattnall County, and a member of Pigot Branch Baptist Church. He owned and operated the City Barber Shop in Reidsville, Georgia, for 47 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Avis Marie Blocker of Glennville, Georgia; three daughters and sons-in-law: Willine and Gerald Todd and Dot and Jerry Branch, all of Glennville; and Betty and Bill DeLoach of Anderson, South Carolina; sons and daughters-in-law: Billy Harvey and Judy Blocker, Jeff and Sharon Blocker, and Bobby and Cathy Blocker, all of Glennville; and Mike and Kathy Blocker of Knoxville, Tennessee; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 31, at 3 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Billy J. Wilson and the Rev. Billy Harvey Blocker, Sr. Burial was in Pigot Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were grandsons: Elvin Todd, Lee Todd, David Scott, David Branch, Jason Branch, Bo Blocker, Christian Campen, Billy Blocker, Joey Blocker, and Jeffery Blocker.
Honorary pallbearers were Oscar Rowe, Jr.; Cecil Long; J. A. Blocker; and Wilton Foster.

Claudine Dasher
Claudine Barnhill Dasher, 84, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville, Georgia, under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. The Tattnall County native attended Glennville Church of God, and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie E. Dasher, and a daughter, Wanda McAllister.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Larry Moore of Sylvania, Georgia; two sons, Theron Dasher of Lyons, Georgia, and Jerry Dasher of Glennville; two sisters, Thelma Culver of Savannah, Georgia, and Juanita Phillips of Richmond Hill, Georgia; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mike Horton. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eddie Moore, Terry Dasher, Lang Dasher, Michael McAllister, Tony Hill, and Lee Durrence.

Melton Durrence
Henry Melton Durrence, 73, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at home under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. The Tattnall County native was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church, a former farmer, and a retired Georgia State Prison correctional officer.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Garrett Durrence of Glennville, Georgia; a son and daughter-in-law, James M. "Jimmy" and Samantha Durrence of Glennville; four sisters: Bonair Kennedy of Collins, Georgia; Evelyn Jarriel of Smyrna; and Wynette Dreher and Mary Ann Gardiner, both of Columbia, South Carolina; grandchildren: Jamey Durrence and wife, Amber; Layla Durrence; and Blake Hughes and Kaitlin Hughes, all of Glennville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Harmony United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tony Caldwell. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were J. B. Durrence, Merriell Durrence, Mike Durrence, Don Kennedy, Barney Durrence, and Truman Anderson.

Micheal A. Cain
Micheal Anthony Cain, 46, died Saturday, July 30, 2005, at the Medical College of Georgia after a short illness. He was born September 1, 1958, and was reared in Glennville, Georgia, where he attended the public schools. He was a 1976 graduate of Glennville High School. After graduation, he joined the U. S. Army, serving in Desert Storm. After 17 years of service, he made his home in Augusta, Georgia. He worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Ft. Gordon in Augusta and in Bamberg, South Carolina, until his illness.
He is survived by two sons, Brian Micheal Cain of Augusta and Marcus Anthony Cain of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; one daughter, Candice Cain Gaston (James) of Shreveport, Louisiana; one granddaughter, Jada Gaston; his parents, Jimmie L. and Mildred Cain; five sisters: Patricia A. Cain, Minister Jimmie N. Cain, Jacquelyn D. Horton (Jeffrey), Sheila T. Garrett (Gary), and Toni L. Cain, all of Glennville; one brother, James A. Cain of Atlanta; seven aunts; three uncles; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and very special friends.
The wake will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 5, at King and Sons Funeral Home in Glennville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 6, at Zion Temple Church of Christ, located at 413 Jackson Street in Glennville.

Moses Harris
Moses Harris, 70, died July 25, 2005, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. He was born in Pembroke, Georgia, Bryan County, and attended the Tattnall County School System. He was a sharecropper and a lifelong resident of Glennville, Georgia. He was a member of Greater Zachariah Baptist Church in Glennville.
Harris is survived by his children: Annie Nell Alston of Atlanta; Andry James Harris, Earnest Lee Harris, Bobbie Jean Cox, Melvin Harris, Linda S. Smith, and Annette Williams, all of Glennville; and Cloria J. Harris of Lithonia, Georgia; two brothers: Sylvester Harris of Miami, Florida, and James Harris, Jr., of Glennville; six sisters: Betty Lee Edgerton of Vidalia; Mary Ann Singleton of Hinesville; Vernice Harvey and Unice Scott, both of Glennville; and Viola Kent and Nettie Mae Robertson, both of Atlanta, Georgia.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, at Greater Zachariah Baptist Church. Burial was in Halltown Cemetery.

Valerie Mason
Valerie Elizabeth Mason, 87, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at the United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, Washington. She was born November 22, 1917, in Reidsville, Georgia, the daughter of Wallace and Fannie Tootle. She grew up and attended school in Georgia. She married Henry “Eddy” Mason in 1938 in Reidsville. Moving from Reidsville, she has been a resident of Sedro-Woolley since 1949. She was a member of the Sedro-Woolley Study Group, the Garden Club, United Methodist Women, an active member of Central United Methodist Church, and a past president of the local PTA in the early 1950s.
She is survived by her son, Ed Mason, and his wife, Charlotte of Niantic, Connecticut; grandsons: Craig Mason and his wife, Michelle, and their children, Timmy, Tyler, and Samantha of Niantic; and Dr. Michael Mason and his wife, Lori, and their children, Victoria and Max of Orrington, Maine; and a brother, Glenn Tootle of Glennville, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eddy, in 1977; a grandson, David Mason, in 1985; and a brother, Colonel Vernon Tootle.
Private graveside services were held Saturday, July 30, at the Sedro-Woolley Union Cemetery, with a memorial service at 1 p.m. at the Central Untied Methodist Church on Polte Road, with Pastor Marilyn Kallshian officiating.

Alan Purcell
Alan Fred Purcell, 47, died Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at Tattnall Community Hospital. He was born in Bulloch County, living in Glennville all his life. He was retired from the U. S. Postal Service with 30 years of service to the Collins, Daisy, Glennville, and Reidsville areas. He was an avid golfer and sportsman, a member of the Collins Lions Club, and a member, deacon, and former Sunday School teacher at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Purcell of Glennville; children: Alana, Walt, and Wes Purcell of Glennville; parents, Billy and Nelwanda Purcell of Glennville; sisters and brothers-in-law: Gail and Richard Barnard of Kinston, North Carolina, and Susan and Tracy Durrence of Glennville; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 6, at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Reuben Cason officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jeff Armstrong, Lance Bradley, Keith Dixon, Ben Barnard, Lawrence Bradley, Aaron Barnard, Jimmy Morris, and Bob Vaught.

Norma Wilkes
Norma Banks Wilkes, 91, died Sunday, August 7, 2005, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Tattnall County native was Valedictorian of the 1931 graduating class of Glennville High School. She worked for 41 years at Lipsitz’s Department Store where she became manager and part-owner before retiring. She was also a member of Glennville First Baptist Church where she served on numerous committees.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, John and Mildred Bacon of Lenoir, North Carolina; a brother-in-law, J. I. Thompson of Glennville; a sister-in-law, Nanelle S. Bacon of Jesup; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville chapel, with the Rev. J. Edwin Bacon, Jr.; the Rev. William C. Bacon; and the Rev. Keith Rustin officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Banks, Wayne Brewton, Dorsey Thompson, Bran Thompson, Stephen Crisp, and Adam Crisp.

Beverly K. Wilson
Beverly K. Wilson, 44, died early Saturday morning, August 6, 2005. The Tattnall County native had lived in Reidsville most of her life. She was a homemaker, and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel B. Thompson, and a stepsister, Lisa Knight.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Wilson of Reidsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Jamie D. and Kylie Wilson of Reidsville; her father and stepmother, William and Tommie Thompson of Lyons; two granddaughters, Emilyn Grace and Bailey Brooke Wilson of Reidsville; four sisters: Jane P. Mackinnon and Becky Anderson of Reidsville; Bonnell Manuel of Clearwater, Florida; and Brandy West of Lyons; one brother, Brad Thompson of Reidsville; two stepsisters, Judy Copeland and Kathy Bush of Lyons; one stepbrother, Randy Bush of Lyons; her mother-in-law, Bernie Wilson of Reidsville; a brother-in-law, Billy Knight of Soperton; and four nephews: Daniel and Cody Anderson of Reidsville and Brent and Brandon Thompson of Thomasville.

Willie Lee Strickland
Willie Lee “Mrs. Bill” Strickland, 89, died Wednesday afternoon, July 21, 2004, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Tattnall County native was a retired seamstress. She was a member of Reidsville United Methodist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Lannie Strickland.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Bailey of Deland, Florida, and Judy Herrington of Reidsville; three sisters: India Kicklighter and Ruby Baker, both of Glennville, and Claudine (Syndel) Kicklighter of Brunswick; two grandchildren, Renee Countis of Tifton and Jerry Lannie Shuman of Reidsville; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 23, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Donald Northrip and the Rev. Steve Posey. Interment was in Reidsville City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were DeWayne Baker, Murray Benefield, Alvin Kicklighter, Roger Kicklighter, and Raneldo Boyd.

Sixto Becerra Puga, 30, died Friday, July 23, 2004, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah. He was a native of Mexico.
