Ruby McCall
Ruby McCall, 88, died Saturday afternoon, August 20, 2005, at her residence under the care of Community Hospice. The Evans County native had lived in Collins most of her life. She was co-owner and operator of McCall Slaughter House and Grocery Store in Collins along with her husband, the former Mayor of Collins, Julian T. McCall. She was a member of Collins Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn McCall, and a son, Marcus J. McCall.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Julian T. McCall of Collins; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Bonita McCall of Macon, Terrell and Sharon McCall of Blackshear, and Jackie McCall of Lyons; one sister, Margaret Harvell of Delray Beach, Florida; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, at Collins Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery.

R. D. Folsom, Jr.
R. D. Folsom, Jr., died Monday, August 22, 2005. The lifelong resident of Tattnall County, was a member and a Deacon of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church. He was retired from the National Guard Training Center at Ft. Stewart, and was also a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Johnson Folsom of Glennville; daughters and sons-in-law: Sylvia and Danny McKinney of Camden, Tennessee, and Peggy and John Baxter of Glennville; sons and daughters-in-law, Royce and Jodonne Folsom and Brent and Tina Folsom of Glennville; three sisters, Judy DeLoach of Rincon, Bobbie Conn of Cumming, and Carolyn Silvers of Tampa, Florida; three brothers: Charles Folsom of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and Gennis Folsom and Mike Folsom of Glennville; and eight grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home in Glennville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 25, at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Reubin Cason officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Kelly Folsom, Jeffrey Folsom, Greg Silvers, Dennis Stanfield, Keith Stanfield, and Bobby Folsom.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees and retired employees of the National Guard Training Center.

Millicent 'Pearl' Warnke
Millicent 'Pearl' Warnke, 91, died Friday, August 26, 2005, at her residence under the care of her family and Pearls of Life Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in Jacksonville most of her life, until moving to Reidsville in April 2004. She was a homemaker, and of the Protestant faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton 'Jim' Warnke, and a daughter, Jennie Warnke.
She is survived by a nephew and niece-in-law, Rufus 'Roy' and Mary Groover of Reidsville; a niece, Gloria Crisler of Columbus, Georgia; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 29, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Interment was in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery in Glennville.

Clara B. McCoy
Clara B. McCoy, 68, died Friday, August 26, 2005, at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. She attended school within the Tattnall County School system. She was a member of Zion Temple Holiness Church in Glennville.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Davis and Thelma Davis, both of Glennville.
She is survived by four daughters: Yolanda Robinson of Jacksonville, Florida; Sharon McCoy of Alto, Georgia; Shirley (Ruben Jr.) King; and Linda (Dale) Thomas of Glennville; one son, Anthony (Christine) McCoy of Claxton; three sisters: Marion (Robert) Collins and Bonnie Davis of Glennville; and Shirley (Ernest) Harvell of Jacksonville; six brothers J. D. Davis, James Davis, Jimmy (Linda) Davis, Edward (Geraldine) Davis, and Jerome (Misty) Davis, all of Glennville; and Perry (Elizabeth) Davis of Metter; one uncle, Eugene (Chaney) Slaughter of Savannah; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends; four very special friends: Alice Mae Futch, Helen Hall, Winnie Ruth Frazier, and Evelyn Brogeon; and her prayer partner, Sister Rubena Surrency, all of Glennville.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until 6 p.m. Friday, September 2, at the chapel of King and Sons Funeral Home. The wake will be at the funeral home from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 3, at Zion Temple Holiness Church in Glennville. Burial will be in Robert Chapel Cemetery.

Lonnie K. Johnson
Lonnie K. Johnson, 76, of Glennville, died Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.
He was born in Kiersey, Oklahoma, and was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie J. and Lula Kuhn Johnson; a sister, Suidie Faye Odum; and a brother, Henry Odum. He was retired from the U. S. Coast Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Kyu Sun Johnson of Glennville; a brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Sharon Odum; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lonnie Kenneth and Katherine Johnson and Michael Johnson; five daughters and sons-in-law: Karen and Jay Barnett, Jennifer and Chris Spadafora, Patricia Sharpley, Kyu Tee and Robert Ford, and Crystal Mayfield; five grandchildren: Mary Jean Spadafora, Natalie Spadafora, Sara Barnett, Chris Barnett, and James Mayfield.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 27, at Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, in Savannah, Georgia. Interment followed in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Allan D. Hughes
Allan D. 'Al' Hughes, 50, of Jesup, Georgia, died Saturday, August 27, 2005, after a short illness. The Dade County, Florida, native had lived in Wayne County for 26 years. He was a self-employed painter, and was an avid NASCAR racing fan. He was predeceased by his father, John Duncan Hughes; two brothers, Donnie Hughes and Eddie Hughes; and two special grandchildren, Hunter Hughes and Preston Hughes.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cindy L. Hughes of Jesup; three sons: Chris and Jennifer Hughes of Kissimmee, Florida; and Greg Hughes and Justin Hughes, both of Jesup; his mother and stepfather, Jimmie and Charlie Eagan of Ormond Beach, Florida; a sister, Linda Lee Walker of Albany, Georgia; a brother, Bobby Hughes of Jesup; two grandchildren, Holly Lynn Hughes and Emily Brown; and a nephew, Eddie and Angie Hughes of Screven, Georgia.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Larry Copley officiating. Interment was at 12 noon in Glennville City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jerry Simmons; James Friel; Marlin Friel; Ralph Dover; and special cousins, Tim Baker and Tony Walker.

Marjorie Hires
Marjorie Durrence Kemp-Hires, 85 years of age, died Saturday morning, August 27, 2005, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Hires lived in McRae, Georgia, from 1938 to 1951 where she was employed by Georgia Power Company, Telfair County Rationing Board, then Telfair County Welfare Board. She returned home to Glennville, Georgia, in 1951 where she was an Independent Insurance Agent, Glennville Insurance Agency, for 26 years. After retiring from the insurance business, she was employed by Green Thumb, Inc., as director for Commonwealth of Virginia. She retired in 1982 and has spent her remaining days at home in Glennville.
She was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hires was preceded in death by her parents, Arnie and Renna Weitman Durrence; a brother, Coy G. Durrence; and two sisters, Lynette D. Bacon and Lucile D. Strickland, all of Glennville.
She is survived by one son, James A. Kemp, Jr., of Glennville; grandson J. Christian Kemp (and wife Evelyn); and great-granddaughter, Maria E. Kemp of Atlanta. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 29, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville chapel, with the Rev. Vance Riggins officiating. Burial was in Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Willie T. Boyd
Willie T. Boyd, 89, died Friday, August 26, 2005, at Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville, Georgia. He was a member of Greater Zachariah Missionary Baptist Church, and a veteran of the U. S. Army.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Gloria Nell Jinks, and one son, Frankie Lee Boyd.
He is survived by his wife, Willie Mae Boyd of Brooklyn, New York; a daughter, Annie Rose Boyd-Hargrove of Los Angeles, California; four stepchildren of Brooklyn, New York, and Los Angeles, California; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, at the chapel of King and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 1, at Greater Zachariah Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. C. L. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Eugene M. Thrift
Eugene M. Thrift, 66, died Tuesday, August 24, 2004, at Candler Hospital in Savannah after a long illness. The Charlton County native had lived in Glennville most of his life, moving to Shellman Bluff several years ago. He was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Stewart, a U. S. Air Force veteran, and a member of Glennville First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Florence Thrift; two sisters, Annette Strickland and Uldine O’Neal; one brother, Thomas Thrift; and two grandchildren: Lee and Steel Thrift.
He is survived by his wife, May Jo Kicklighter Thrift of Shellman Bluff; daughters and sons-in-law, Stacia and Harold Hall and Lisa and James Waters, all of Glennville; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Cynthia Thrift of Shellman Bluff; three sisters: Eunice Kemp and Charlotte Bacon, both of Glennville; and Carolyn Stansell of Winder, Georgia; one brother, Morris Thrift of Glennville; five grandchildren: Braylen Hall, Daniel Waters, and Sheila, Shelby, and Matt Thrift; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, at Carter Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 26, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry Knight officiating. Burial will follow in Glennville City Cemetery, with full military honors.

Nell Mingle
Nell Proctor Mingle, 66, died Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area most of her life before moving to Savannah 13 years ago. She was a homemaker, and a member of Glennville First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Tom Mingle, and a son, Frankie Wells.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Stacy Mingle of Goose Creek, South Carolina; one daughter, Debbie Waters of Glennville; five grandchildren: Christopher H. and Matthew T. Mingle, Ashley and Marcia Waters, and Crystal Wells; one great-grandchild, Jacob Hendrix; a sister and brother-in-law, Lilla and Thurman Mobley of Glennville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 20, at Carter Funeral Chapel, officiated by the Rev. John Nunes. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.

John Quentin McCall
John Quentin "J. Q.” McCall, 85, died Sunday morning, August 22, 2004, at Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Pearls of Live Hospice. The Ben Hill County native had lived in Reidsville most of his life. He was a World War II U. S. Army-Air Corps veteran. He was a retired self-employed plumber, electrician, and farmer. He was instrumental in reorganizing Elza Baptist Church and Cedar Grove Methodist Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent of Cedar Grove Methodist Church for many years. He was a member of Pearson Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jacquelyn McCall of Reidsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan M. Rogers and John Baker of Townsend; two sons and daughter-in-law, John V. and Sharon McCall of Reidsville and Jerrold A. McCall of Townsend; grandchildren: Wesley A. and Priscilla Rogers, Van and Sara McCall, Kenny and Heather McCall, and Stacy and Gregg Moore; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
