Mildred Love
Mildred Yeomans Love, 89, died Friday, August 20, 2004, at Memorial Health University Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville and in Jesup for many years before moving to Savannah. She and her husband owned and operated a grocery store in Savannah for many years. She was a homemaker, and a member of Whitemarsh Island Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Layton E. Yeomans, and sisters: Evelyn Elders, Irene Knight, and Juanita Yeomans.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Jack M. Love of Savannah; a daughter, Sarah Vaughn of Savannah; sons and daughter-in-law, Jack Jr. and Candy Love of Savannah and Jimmy Love of Northport, Florida; one brother, Travis Yeomans of Savannah; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, at Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, with the Rev. Timothy Sangster officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews.

Esteen C. Kicklighter
Esteen C. Kicklighter, 75, died Wednesday, August 18, 2004, at Evans Memorial Hospital among family and friends after a long illness. The lifelong resident of Tattnall County was the owner of the former Cheerio Motel in Glennville, and ran a home delivery Foremost Milk route. She was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Kicklighter.
She is survived by a son, Bill Kicklighter of Glennville; a granddaughter and grandson, Tara and Warren Griffen of Glennville; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Ann Crummey of Glennville; stepfather, James E. Dyal; a brother-in-law, Jared Durrence; a special nephew, David Durrence; and two grandsons, J. P. and Philip Griffin, all of Glennville. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Faye Williams and Seibel Scott.
Graveside funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 20, at Glennville City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Daniel Crummey, Keith DeLoach, Michael Crummey, Brandon Waters, Brandon Crummey, and David Durrence.
Honorary pallbearers were John Ellis and Juan Thompson.

Joyce Kicklighter
Joyce Teston Kicklighter, 67, died Friday, August 20, 2004, at her residence after a long illness. She was born in Jesup, Georgia, and lived in Glennville most of her life. She was retired from Georgia Department of Corrections, and a member of Glennville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ceburn Kicklighter, and son, Lane Kicklighter.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Mitzi and Randy Gibson of Glennville; sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Mary Kicklighter of Kathleen, Georgia, and Bret Kicklighter of Bloomingdale, Georgia; five grandchildren: Shaun Kicklighter, Lee Gibson, Jonathan Gibson, Katie Kicklighter, and Kyle Kicklighter; one sister, Janice Cathcart of Glennville; and two nieces, Melanie Harris and Holly Baxter.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, August 22, at Carter Funeral Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Steve Posey. Burial was in the Kicklighter Section of Stoney Hill Cemetery.

Iowa "Shorty" Anderson
Iowa "Shorty” C. Anderson, 90, died Sunday night, August 22, 2004, at Tattnall Healthcare Center in Reidsville. The Emanuel County native had lived in Reidsville most of her life. She was a homemaker, and was a waitress for many years at Ruby’s Restaurant in Reidsville. She was a member of Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Pierce James and Barney Anderson.
She is survived by two sisters, Ethel Sikes of Reidsville and Marioum Amerson of Darien; one brother, Bill Cowart of Reidsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, officiated by Elder Junior Tidwell. Interment was in Harden’s Chapel Cemetery in Toombs County.

Edith K. Tootle
Edith "Noots” K. Tootle, 84, died August 18, 2004, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Tattnall County native was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, and a homemaker.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James ‟Jim” and Julia Tootle of Glennville; one sister, Elva Lee Bostic of Glennville; four grandchildren: Derwood Tootle of Bellville and Darlene Kicklighter, David Tootle, and Dee Gravley, all of Glennville; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 20, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Parnell Aldridge and the Rev. Jerry Knight. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.

Larry Banks
Larry W. Banks, 79, died Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Tattnall County, a graduate of Glennville High School and Draughn’s Business College of Savannah, a World War II veteran, and a Primitive Baptist, attending Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church. He was a member of the Tattnall County Board of Education for 18 years, serving as chairman for 12 years; a member of the Tattnall County Democratic Executive Committee for 45 years; and was appointed to serve on the first Election Board of Tattnall County. He served on the Georgia Forestry Board, was president and director of Tattnall County Farm Bureau, was an A.S.C.S. Board member, and a Farmers Home Administration Board member. He served 31 years as supervisor in the Ogeechee Soil and Water Conservation District, and was named as the Take Pride in America Conservation Farm in 1992 and Man of the Year in Conservation in 1993. He was a prominent farmer and was known for his love of the land and growing things, especially his Banks’ Farm tomatoes. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Eben Banks.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy S. Banks of Glennville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Debbie Banks and Kenny and Maggie Banks, all of Glennville; three sisters: Maridean Brewton of Glennville, Linda Waters of Savannah, and Delores Harlow of Waycross; two brothers, Ned Banks and Ed Banks, both of Glennville; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, at Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder W. H. Durrence officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Banks, Art Durrence, Eddie Banks, Mike Waters, Wayne Brewton, and Larry McLeod.

Shirley Yeomans
Shirley Ann Yeomans, 52, died Friday, August 22, 2003, at Memorial Health in Savannah. The Long County native was a member of Pigot Branch Baptist Church, and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey Walter and Ollie May Moody; brothers, Pete Moody and Hillis Moody; and sister, Flonnelle Moody.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Yeomans of Ludowici; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Tammy Long and Carey Yeomans of Ludowici; one stepdaughter, Pamela Y. Collins of Ft. Valley; three brothers: Dink Moody, Dale Moody, and Jerry Moody, all of Ludowici; two sisters, Gail Lynn of Glennville and Betty Moody of Wilmington, North Carolina; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 25, at Pigot Branch Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. James Young. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Ronnie Johnson, Sr.
Ronnie Johnson, Sr., died August 24, 2003, at his residence in Evans County, Georgia. The Green County native had resided in Evans County for most of his life, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Glennville.
He is survived by one son, David Johnson of Glennville; one daughter, Tracy Jenkins of Glennville; two brothers, Mike Johnson of Hagan and J. W. Johnson of Claxton; one sister, Bonnie Miller of Glynn County, Georgia; three grandchildren: Jessica Bowen, Ander Jenkins, and Tyler Jenkins, all of Glennville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 27, at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Junior Rowe and the Rev. James Holland officiating. Burial was in Brewton Cemetery in Hagan.

Wimberly Allison
Wimberly E. Allison, 35, died Friday, August 22, 2003, at Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. He was born in Liberty County, living in Glennville most of his life. He was a self-employed truck driver, and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy M. Yearta of Glennville; his father, Thomas F. Allison of Wisconsin; three sisters: Carrie Allison and Tammy Poole of Glennville and Scherrie Coffland of Nevada; one brother, Travis Allison of California; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Monday, August 25, at Carter Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Birdford Church Cemetery at a later date.

Elma Adams
Elma Adams, 84, died August 18, 2003, at her residence in Evans County after an extended illness. The Bulloch County native had resided in Evans County for most of her life. She and her husband owned and operated Adams Floor Covering for over 40 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Nevil.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Delmas H. Adams of Claxton; one daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Farris Cowart of Seabrook Island, South Carolina; one brother, Jake Bowen of Stuart, Florida; three sisters: Lucille Allen of Savannah; Bonnie Moore of Jacksonville; and Anne Morgan of Albany; four grandchildren and spouses: Leigh and Gary Bell of Bellville; Joe Nevil of Statesboro; Sonya and Ricky Bland of Glennville; and April and Anthony Tippins of Conyers; four great-grandchildren: Jarrod Strickland of Claxton; Colton Bland of Glennville; and Brett Tippins and Logan Tippins of Conyers; and several nieces and nephews.

Fay Moore
Fay Saraglyn Elder Moore, 70, of the Macedonia Community in Greene County, died Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at Putnam General Hospital. Born in Oconee County on November 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Inus Cornelius Elder and Emma Thelma Robison Elder. She graduated from Greensboro High School in 1949, and during her teenage years worked for Hunter’s Drug Store. As a homemaker, she and her husband had operated a family dairy in the Macedonia Community for the past 52 years. She was an election poll officer, a member of The University of Georgia Co-op Creamery, and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she taught Training Union.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ralph Alvin Moore, of the Macedonia Community; two daughters, Dale Dianne Moore Bennett of Alma, Georgia, and Carolyn Teresa Bennett Moore Churchwell and husband, Barry Gene of Maxeys, Georgia; four grandchildren: Chad David Bennett and wife, Angel; Adam Clay Bennett and wife, Ivey; Dustin Gene Churchwell and wife, Amanda; and Nancie Joyce Churchwell; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis Betsill and Dustin Kyle Churchwell. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Elder and Jack Elder.
Funeral services were held Friday, August 22, at 3 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joel Sorrow officiating. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery.
