Patty Upperman
Patricia Jane Upperman, 49, died Sunday, September 1, 2002, at Hospice Savannah. The Barstow, California, native had lived in Glennville, Georgia, for the past nine years. She was a loving wife and mother, and of the Protestant faith.
She is survived by her husband, Gregory T. Upperman of Glennville; three daughters, Rouchelle Seroka of Apple Valley, California; Bridget Taylor of Gardnerville, Nevada; and Carrie Seat of Barstow, California; one son, Curtis Upperman of Glennville; two sisters; three brothers; ten grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Steve Posey officiating. Burial was in Glennville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Curtis Upperman, Brad Rogers, Starry Shaft, Jeremy Wiginton, Dan Rogers, and Michael Drenk.

Thelma Thigpen
Thelma James Thigpen, 98, died Thursday morning, September 1, 2005, at North Spring Assisted Living in Claxton. The Toombs County native had lived in Reidsville since 1942. She was a member of Reidsville Baptist Church, and was the treasurer of the Hattie Rountree Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the WMU, and sang in the choir for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Bronson Thigpen, and a son, Donald Thigpen.
She is survived by six daughters and sons-in-law: Marjorie T. Jones of Statesboro; Mary Sue and Hugh Scott of Reidsville; Lawatha T. Malmberg of Winder; June T. and Sam Bonnette or Portal; Bobbie T. and Dick Knop of Claxton; and Wendelle T. and Harry Foster of Lavonia; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Dorothy Thigpen of Murphy, North Carolina, and J. Derrell and Darlene Thigpen of Lyons; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3, at Reidsville Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Mike Thigpen and the Rev. Sterling Bargeron. Interment was in Reidsville City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Glenn Williams, Floyd James, John Wingate, Ralph Stewart, Neil Rogers, and Jack Hill.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Hattie Rountree Sunday School Class, and staff and residents of North Spring Assisted Living.

Kaleb T. Cagle
Infant Kaleb Tyler Cagle died Wednesday morning, August 31, 2005, at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.
He is survived by his mother, Alysia K. Ansell of Glennville; his father, Bruce C. Cagle of Glennville; a sister, Katelyn Gaultney of Glennville; maternal grandparents, Emory and Cheryl O'Quinn of Odum, Georgia; paternal grandparents, Joan and Mike Kuhn and Steve Cagle, all of Canton; great-grandparents, Orvin V. Ballard of Lady Lake, Florida, and Lottie D. Scott of Titusville, Florida; aunts, Diana Tucker of Jamestown, Tennessee, and Krystal Cagle of Canton, Georgia; uncles, Gary Ansell of Lakenheath AFB, London, and John Cagle of Glennville; and six cousins.
He was preceded in death by his aunts, Kim Mobley and Elizabeth Ansell.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 3, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. R. M. Warren. Interment was in Pineview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Grace Thompson
Grace Hurst Thompson, 81, died Friday, September 3, 2004, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Glenwood, Georgia, native had lived in Glennville for the past 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald W. Thompson. She was a retired elementary school teacher, having taught in Tattnall County for 40 years. She was recognized as a ‟Friend of 4-H” for her work with that organization. She was a member of Glennville United Methodist Church where she taught the Wesley Fellowship Class for many years She also served as a teacher at Hopewell United Methodist Church for the Adult Sunday School Class for many years. She was a longtime member of the United Methodist Women and had served as their president, and was also a member of the Sunshine Group.
She is survived by her son, Reggie Thompson and family, Michelle and Ryan of Brunswick; a sister-in-law, Bessie Thompson of Macon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 5, at Glennville United Methodist Church, officiated by the Rev. Steve Posey. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Dorsey Thompson, Bran Thompson, Don Harrell, Jimmy Harrell, Keith Swindell, and Ritchie Swindell.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class of Glennville United Methodist Church, and members of the Adult Sunday School Class of Hopewell United Methodist Church.

Rebecca Kersey
Rebecca Cribbs Kersey, 86, died Thursday, September 2, 2004, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Toombs County native had lived in Savannah all of her life. She was a homemaker, and a member of Assembly of God of Savannah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Arthur Kersey, and a daughter, Ada Christine Jordan.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Thurman ‟Jack” and Carrie Williams of Collins and Willie Lee and Betty Kersey of Guyton; a daughter and son-in-law, Katie and John Jamison of Arcadia; a sister, Katie Lewis of Shelby, North Carolina; 18 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. Cecil Gray. Interment was in Little Flock Church Cemetery.

Alton L. Calhoun
Graveside services for Alton Louis Calhoun, infant son of Renita and Kelly Calhoun, were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2004, at Glennville City Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Joanie Calhoun.
He is survived by one brother, Avery Calhoun of Reidsville; maternal grandparents, Shirley Strickland and Louis and Cheryl Strickland, all of Claxton; and paternal grandparents, Lonnie and Marie Calhoun of Glennville.

Bernard Wainwright
Bernard Wainwright of Baxley, 71, died Friday, September 3, 2004, in the Appling Healthcare System after an extended illness. A native of Brantley County, he had lived in Appling County for the past 41 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was retired from Southern Bell, and was the owner of Wainwright Cable.
He is survived by his wife, Jurell Wainwright of Baxley; three sons and daughters-in-law: Chris and Vickie Wainwright of Norman Park, Greg and Robin Wainwright of Evans; and Kip and Tami Wainwright of Baxley; two sisters, Gloria Wainwright of Waycross and Annetta Ennis of Connecticut; two brothers, Ted Wainwright of Waycross and Carroll Wainwright of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his stepmother, Evelyn Wainwright of Blackshear; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 5, at First Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Jay Meadows and the Rev. Randy Mosley. Interment was in Omega Cemetery.

Dale Durrence
Harris Dale Durrence, 58, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at his residence under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. The Tattnall County native was a member and deacon of Pineview Baptist Church, a retired meat cutter, and a farmer.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Elaine Durrence and Mark and Tammy Durrence of Reidsville; wife, Opal Durrence of Reidsville; one sister, Sandra and Talmadge Todd Jr. of Reidsville; four brothers: Aubrey and Ann Durrence and Joe and Lilllian Durrence of Reidsville, Terry and Lydia Durrence of Vidalia, and David and LeeAnn Durrence of Savannah; six grandchildren: Amber Durrence, April Durrence, Dylan Durrence, Charla Durrence, Amanda Webster, and Skylar Hall.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 2, at Cobb Funeral Home, Reidsville, conducted by the Rev. Gregg Usry and the Rev. Jesse Browning. Burial was in Pineview Baptist Church Cemetery.

Martha Bacon
Martha Jones Bacon, 78, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins. The Mississippi native had lived in Warner Robins for many years, and was a member of Central Baptist Church where she formerly served as Librarian for 25 years. She was a member of Martha Berry #35 Eastern Star, was an avid doll collector, and a member of the Georgia Peach Doll Club of Central Georgia, the United Doll Federation, and the Lantana Homemakers.
She is survived by her husband, Joe Kress Bacon of Warner Robins; one daughter, Cindy Bacon Bryant of Charleston, West Virginia; and two grandchildren, Jason Bryant of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Amanda Bryant of Charleston, West Virginia.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, at Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Ernest Gordy officiating.

Beuford McDougal
Beuford Waters McDougal, 89, of Winona, Mississippi, formerly of the Glennville, Georgia, area, died of heart failure Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. Funeral services were held Friday, July 16, 2004, at Winona First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Harold Richardson officiating. Burial was in the Vaiden Cemetery.
McDougal was a homemaker, a member of the Winona First Presbyterian Church, a member of Order of Eastern Star, and a former member of the Winona Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. H. McDougal. Survivors include one daughter, Judy Wade of Birmingham, Alabama; one son, Ken McDougal of Vaiden; one sister, Joyce Durrence of Glennville, Georgia; and four grandchildren.

Beulah McGhee
Beulah McGhee, 58, died Saturday afternoon, August 13, 2005, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Tennessee native had lived in Florida many years, moving to Reidsville 11 years ago. She was actively involved with 'Feed the Children,' Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, and various other Christian ministries. She attended Reidsville Church of God, and was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Hart.
She is survived by six daughters: Mary Ellen Collier and Robin Ann Hedinger of Jonesboro, Tennessee; Penny Fleenor of Bristol, Tennessee; and Tammy Sue Burress, Christine Marie Duran, and Donna McGhee, all of Reidsville; four sisters: Joyce Cox, Ann Miller, Debbie Fritz, and Pamela Sue Worley, all of Bristol, Tennessee; two brothers, Calvin and Chester Creasong, both of Bristol; grandchildren: Elizabeth Rae Sawyer; Jamie Burress Arnold; Michael Howard; Ridge Cabrera; Christopher Duran; Marty Duran; Jay Santos Duran; Jordan McGhee; Josie McGhee; Kimberlyn Oaks; Darrell Evans, Jr.; Crystal Collier; Jennifer Collier; Ciara Isaac; Richard Hedinger, Jr.; and Brandon Fleenor; great-grandchildren: Landon, Chloey, Noah, Maria, Lil, David, Taylor, Shane, and Mikey; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Love
Mary Love, 77, died Tuesday morning, August 16, 2005, at Tattnall Healthcare Center. The Kentucky native had lived in Blythe, Georgia, for many years, moving to Lyons eight years ago. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Cookie Agner of Lyons; three daughters and sons-in-law: Judy Dunn of Atlanta, Peggy and Steve Moore of Tennessee, and Diane and Rob Baughman of Colorado; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, at Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home in Reidsville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 19, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell Cemetery on the Ft. Benning reservation.
