Josephine Louise Jenkins, 69, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at Candler Hospital. The Birmingham native had lived in Glennville since 1988. She was a retired caretaker, and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Jenkins.
She is survived by one daughter, Paula Brown of Woodstock, Georgia; two sons, Steve Odom of Glennville and Clifford Jenkins of Vernon, Florida; three sisters: Dottie Hickman and Dorothy Ingram, both of Florida; and Barbara Farmer of Texas; one brother, Jimmy McKnight of Alabama; 8 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, October 20, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Keith Rustin officiating. Burial was private.

Cora Sikes
Cora Freeman Sikes, 97, died Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at Glenvue Nursing Home after an extended illness. The Appling County native had lived in Glennville most of her life. She was a homemaker, and the oldest member of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the Mary Wilkinson Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy; a son, Curtis; and a grandson, Randy Dukes.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: C. J. and Madelene Sikes; Hymie Sikes; and Billy and Louise Sikes, all of Glennville; two daughters, Betty Dukes Kilby and Annette Sikes, both of Glennville; one sister, Lucille Smith of Naples, Florida; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 16, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. James O. Young and the Rev. Michael Bryan officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Earl Freeman, Mike Folsom, Shawn Yarbrough, Brent Folsom, Louis Geiger, and Ricky Dukes, Jr.

Nicy Wetherington
Nicy Loanza Smiley Wetherington, 95, died Thursday, October 16, 2003, at home in Glennville, Georgia, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. She was born October 17, 1907, in Long County, Georgia. She was the third of nine children: brothers Billy, Marcus, Gordon, Woodrow, Everett, C. B. (Cuyler Benjamin); and sisters Loyla May and Sydney. She married Rayford R. Wetherington at the age of 17. She was a charter member of Emanuel Baptist Church in Blackshear, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant baby boy; a son, Alvin; and a daughter, Hazel Jennings.
She is survived by a sister, Sydney Jones of Spanish Fort, Alabama; a daughter, Ernestine Groover of Glennville, Georgia; and sons and daughters-in-law: Dallas and Helen Wetherington of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Leon and Kay Wetherington of San Diego, California; Ralph and Lina Wetherington of Castalian Springs, Tennessee; Earl and Judy Wetherington of Slidell, Louisiana; daughter-in-law, Verna Braswell of Dahlonega, Georgia; and son-in-law, Dale Jennings of Gallatin, Tennessee; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, at Glennville First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Rustin officiating.
Graveside services were held at Blackshear Cemetery.
Pallbearers were deacons of Glennville First Baptist Church.

Dolly Smith
Dolly Moore Smith, 92, died Saturday, October 18, 2003, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Tattnall County native attended West Chester College in Rochelle, New York, where she received a degree in Cosmetology. She was a self-employed beautician for 40 years, and was one of the first mercantile mobile merchants in this area, serving from Savannah to Darien. She was an agribusiness poultry farmer, a homemaker, and a member of Glennville First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Carroll Smith.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Spurgeon and Harriett Smith of Glennville; four grandchildren: Jamie Fox, Jay Fox, Jason Smith, and Timber Smith, all of Glennville; one great-granddaughter, Hannah Fox of Glennville; two sisters-in-law, Novidean Moore and Mary Moore, both of Glennville; special friends, Dedra Young and Timmy McLellan; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, October 20, at Glennville First Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Keith Rustin, the Rev. Robert Kicklighter, and the Rev. David Blalock. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Frankie Smith, Joey Collins, Greg Paradise, Jack Williams, Bill Smith, Tommy Jarriel, Bert Oliver, Joe Norman, and Edwin Lashley.

Theron W. Oliver
Theron William Oliver, 86, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at Evans Memorial Hospital. He had been a resident of Glenvue Nursing Home for the past seven months. The Tattnall County native was born in Mendes, and had lived in Liberty County for the past 53 years. He was a member and deacon emeritus of Walthourville Missionary Baptist Church and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He retired from Civil Service at Ft. Stewart, Georgia, in 1986. At the time of his retirement, he was employed by the Supply and Services Division of the Directorate of Logistics, and prior to that, by the Commissary. He was a former member of the Horse Creek Hunting Club and the Crossroads Hunting Club.
He was the son of the late Bruce and Sallie Oliver, also of Tattnall County, and the oldest of six children, all of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lola Dale Purcell Oliver.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ferrell Mobley of Hinesville; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Camilla Oliver of Hilliard, Florida; two granddaughters, Susan Oliver of Hilliard, Florida, and Tiffany Mobley Smith of Hinesville; one grandson, Robbie Oliver of Hilliard; and one great-grandson, Clayton Mobley of Hinesville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, conducted by the Rev. S. W. Middleton. Burial was in Harmony United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lang Dunham, Neal Oliver, Bruce Oliver, Joey Waters, Martin O’Donnell, and Louis Geiger.

Wanda Gilmer
Wanda Hallman Gilmer, 58, died Sunday, October 12, 2003, at her home on Wilmington Island, Harbor Creek. She was a 1963 graduate of Glennville High School. She attended Savannah Vocational School, and retired from J. W. Tarver Marine Architects as a Marine Surveyor Technician.
She is survived by her husband, James Gilmer; one daughter and son-in-law and two grandsons, Joanna Marie and Scott Simpkins and Scott and Michael, all of Savannah; one brother, James Theron Hallman of Glennville; and four sisters: Onetha Mingledorff, Joan Stafford, and Maxine Turner of Collins, Georgia, and Dorothy Brooks of Atlanta.
Graveside services were held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Savannah on Tuesday, October 14.

Irene Love
Irene “Toad” Kicklighter Love, 84, of Jesup, Georgia, died Monday, October 20, 2003, in the Hospice of Golden Isles of Brunswick, Georgia. The Tattnall County native had lived in Wayne County, Georgia, most of her life, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Friendly Sunday School Class. She was the widow of Cecil Linton Love, and was predeceased by a son, Cecil Wendell Love.
She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Love of Jesup; four grandchildren: Wendy Love Westberry, Jamie Sheffield, Wesley Love, and Gail Moore, all of Jesup; ten great-grandchildren: Kalen Westberry, Kacie Westberry, Dillan Love, Darian Love, Hali Williams, Shannon Sheffield, Candice Sheffield Armstrong, Paiton Moore, Payne Moore, and Presley Moore; one great-great-grandchild, Cheyann Armstrong; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Mildred Love of Savannah, Georgia; one daughter-in-law, Patsy Ogden of Jesup; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, at Rinehart Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 23, at the Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Felix Haynes officiating. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. at Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia.

Frances "Betty" King
Frances "Betty" "MeMa" King, 77, died Monday, October 31, 2005, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Chatham County native had lived in Reidsville for the past 29 years. She was a retired bookkeeper, and a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy King.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Vickie King; an adopted son and daughter-in-law, Ronald L. and Sharon Stanfield; and an adopted daughter, Joan Wellman, all of Reidsville; one brother, Johnny G. "Buck" and Flora B. Stuckey of Pooler; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a very special niece, Susan Stuckey of Pooler; and numerous other special friends.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday evening, November 2, at Cobb Funeral Home in Reidsville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon, November 3, at Twin Oaks Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerald Dorr officiating. Burial will be in Reidsville City Cemetery.

Tony R. Smith
Tony R. Smith, 54, died Saturday, October 29, 2005, under the care of Vista Care Hospice. He was born in Lakeland, Florida, to Ned and Johnnie Will Smith. He retired from Georgia Department of Corrections, and was a member of Piney Grove Church of God in Odum. He is pre-deceased by his parents and a granddaughter, Shelby Fayth Finnerty.
He is survived by his wife, Faye L. Smith of Reidsville; children: Tina and Brian Finnerty of North Augusta, South Carolina; Amy and Wesley Meeks of Collins; Scott Smith of Glennville; and Lisa and Chad Kennedy of Glennville; grandchildren: Kara, Blake, and Reagan Finnerty of North Augusta and Karsyn Meeks of Collins; brothers and sisters: Ronnie and Louise Smith of Odum; Timmy and Marianne Smith of Richmond Hill; Janice and Ray Weeks of Jesup; and Debbie and Greg Rowe of Screven; his stepmother, Ruth Smith of Oak Park; his goddaughter, Lizzie Lank of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 31, at Cobb Funeral Home, Reidsville chapel, with the Rev. James Lord officiating. Burial was in Reidsville City Cemetery.

Jack Groover
Roland Jackson “Jack” Groover, 80, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003, at the Veterans Hospital in Augusta. He was a native of Comache, Kansas, and had lived in Liberty County most of his life. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in World War II, and has farmed on his family land since. He was a member of Pigot Branch Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Moody Groover.
He is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Alsean Groover of Gum Branch and Clyde and Ida Groover of Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Launa and Bill Seymore of Hinesville and Fern and Bob Bitzer of Gum Branch; three stepgrandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 24, at Pigot Branch Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Young and the Rev. Roger Wilkins officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were nephews.
