Etta Dyess

Etta Kicklighter Dyess, 94, died Saturday, November 8, 2003, under the care of Hospice Savannah. The Tattnall County native had lived in Savannah for many years. She was a homemaker, a wife of 61 years, and a mother. She was a member of South Gardens Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulvin Gross Kicklighter and Eva Sikes Kicklighter, and her husband, Louie Carl Dyess.
She is survived by two daughters, Laverne Glisson of Savannah and Almeta “Mickie” Pate of Glennville; a son and daughter-in-law, Aubrey and Diana Dyess of Savannah; a brother and sister-in-law, Thad and Elinor Kicklighter of Glennville; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 10, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with the Rev. Tom Solossi and the Rev. Jerry Knight officiating. Burial was in Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brad Rogers, Bailey Robinson, Ricky Kicklighter, Berry Kicklighter, Dannis Brannen, Mitch Dyess, Terry Kicklighter, and Tim Jones.
Remembrances can be made to Hospice Savannah, Inc., P. O. Box 13190, Savannah, Georgia 31416.
Cobb Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.

James Caison

James Revis Caison, 72, died Friday, November 7, 2003, at Southeast Regional Medical Center in Brunswick, Georgia. The Long County native had lived in Jacksonville for many years, moving to Glennville several years ago. He was retired from Rex Packing Company in Jacksonville after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Over the Hill R. V. Camping Club and the Claxton Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes I. Caison of Glennville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Virginia Williams of Bunnell, Florida, and Judy and David Wright of Jacksonville; two brothers, Hiliary Caison of Warner Robbins and Gene Caison of Ludowici; two grandsons, Christopher Wright of Iraq and Matthew Wright of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 10, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Garland Woolard officiating. Burial was Tuesday, November 11, at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.
Pallbearers were Guy Caison, Danny Watson, Larry Flowers, Pat Easterling, Mike Lamb, Wayne Easterling, Michael Lamb, and David Easterling.
Carter Funeral Chapel of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy Lawson

Dorothy Helen Lawson, 92, died Friday, November 1, 2002, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. The Washington State native had lived in Glennville, Georgia, for the past 22 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Lawson, and grandson, David A. Lawson.
She is survived by one daughter, Rae Malagiero of Glennville; one son and daughter-in-law, Russell Allen and Glenda Lawson of Laurel Hill, Florida; grandchildren: Scott and Helen Lawson of Suwanee; Glenn Lawson of Laurel Hill, Florida; Michael and Sunshine Malagiero of Cape Canaveral, Florida; and Megan and Tim Patenaude of Merritt Island, Florida; and one great-grandchild, Aaron Patenaude of Merritt Island, Florida.
Funeral services were private.
Cobb Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.

John Wilcher

John W. Wilcher, 78, died Saturday, November 2, 2002, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. The Emanuel County native had lived in Glennville, Georgia, 11 years, and was a former truck driver.
He is survived by a friend, Erma McGlashan of Glennville; two daughters, Dorothy Brigman of Iowa and Billie Atkinson of Texas; one sister, Della Landing of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Monday, November 4, at 11 a.m. at Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Gregg Usry officiating.
Pallbearers were Ricky Anderson, Justin Anderson, Danny Holiday, Johnny McGillis, Eric Bacon, and Ellis Collins.
Cobb Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.

Martha Morris

Martha Snipes Randall Morris, 82, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. The Schley County native was a former resident of Glennville, Georgia, and had lived at Pine Harbor for many years. She was a 1940 graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. She was a former dental hygienist, and bookkeeper and case worker with the Tattnall County Department of Family and Children Services.
She was a member of Morgan’s Chapel Methodist Church in Eulonia, where she served as treasurer for ten years, and was active in the Women’s Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by Dr. Foy Clifford Randall, Jr., and Clide Morris.
She is survived by one daughter, Denise Randall Smith of Beaufort, South Carolina; four sons and daughters-in-law: Clifford and Jane Randall of Reidsville, Georgia; Allen and Valarie Randall and Wayne and Cathy Randall of Claxton, Georgia; and Darrie and Sharlene Randall of Glennville; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 31, at 2 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, with Dr. Charles Strickland officiating. Burial was at Shell Point in McIntosh County.
Pallbearers were Al Randall, Jr.; Foy Randall; Clayton Randall; Travis Randall; Jarad Randall; Dr. Samuel Adams; Brian Durrence; and Dr. Keith Cobb.
Cobb Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.

Leila Kicklighter

Leila Jones Kicklighter, 84, died Thursday, November 4, 2004, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville all of her life. She was a homemaker, and a member of Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Kennedy, and a grandson, Jeffery Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Kicklighter of Glennville; daughters and sons-in-law, Sondra and Jack Smith of Glennville and Maurie and Mike DeVane of Waycross; one sister, Ellen Jones of Brunswick; one brother, Oren Jones of Collins; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, at Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, conducted by Elder Mickey Harris, Mike DeVane, Daine Bazemore, and Grady Walden. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Josh DeVane, Billy O’ Neal, Damon Kennedy, Avery Kicklighter, Kenny Brannen, and Eli DeVane.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Love’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church.

Marvis W. Driggers

Marvis W. Driggers, Sr., 64, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital. The Tattnall County native was a graduate of Glennville High School and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. He was a member of Rogers Baptist Church. The lifelong farmer specialized in vegetable production as well as livestock, and was a founding member of the Farm Fresh Tattnall Association. For the past four years, he served as a quality control inspector with EMC Engineering of Savannah. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his mother, Vernice Driggers.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Teila Driggers of Collins; one daughter, Janet McNeely of Metter; his father, Hugh M. Driggers of Glennville; two sisters, Debbie Dutton and Jane Eason of Glennville; three brothers: Robert E. Driggers of Macon and Jimmy Driggers and Jessie Driggers of Glennville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 5, at Cobb Funeral Home, Reidsville chapel, with the Rev. Jim Rogers officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lenwood Eason, Jonathan Dutton, Edward Driggers, Larry Stanfield, Ricky Hower, and Clint Oliver.
Cobb Funeral Home of Reidsville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.

Delmas Adams

Delmas Adams, 96, died November 8, 2004, at his residence in Evans County after a short illness. He was under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice and was given special care by Bernease Jordan, Michelle Vermillion, and Pam Bacon. The Evans County native and lifelong resident owned and operated Adams Floor Covering for over 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elma Adams, and a daughter, Sandra Nevil.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Farris Cowart of Scabrook Island, South Carolina; one brother, Joe Adams of Statesboro; four grandchildren and spouses: Leigh and Gary Bell of Bellville, Joe Nevil of Statesboro, Sonya and Ricky Bland of Glennville, and April and Anthony Tippins of Conyers; four great-grandchildren: Jarrod Strickland of Claxton, Colton Bland of Glennville, and Brett and Logan Tippins of Conyers; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 10, beginning at 6 p.m. at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 11, at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Brewton Cemetery in Hagan, Georgia.
Remembrances can be made to Pearls of Life Hospice, 13 South Newton Street, Claxton, Georgia 30427.

Bobby G. Davis

Bobby G. Davis, 63, died Monday, November 1, 2004, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Toombs native had lived in Reidsville since 1979. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force, after having served for 20 years as an Air Traffic Controller, and from the State of Georgia. He was a member of Abundant Faith Fellowship Church. He was a member of the Collins Lions Club, VFW, DAV, and Georgia Peace Officers Association. He worked as dispatcher for the Vidalia, Reidsville, and Glennville Police Departments for several years. He also served as Santa Claus for several years in the Reidsville Christmas Parade. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. C. and Annie Mae Davis; a brother, Jimmy Davis; and his father-in-law, Monroe Lindsay.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Wilda L. Davis of Collins; a son and daughter-in-law, Master Sergeant James Gregory and Carla Davis, stationed in Grand Forks, North Dakota; one sister, Joyce Williams of Raleigh, North Carolina; a brother and sister-in-law, J. C. and Anita Davis of Tucker, Georgia; his mother-in-law, Gladys Lindsay of Reidsville; grandchildren, Kayla Elaine and Tyler James Davis of Grand Forks; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 4, in the chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. John Price and the Rev. Lester Whitehead. Interment followed in Reidsville City Cemetery, with full military honors.
Active pallbearers were Jason Braddy, Wes Hutcheson, Ben Boyett, Christopher Braddy, Wade Hutcheson, and Davey Hutcheson.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Collins Lions Club.

James Warren, Sr.

Charles Laban Purcell, 96, died Monday, November 1, 2004. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of his life, moving to Savannah 12 years ago. He served as trustee of Tyson School System, and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Pigot Branch Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Chairman of the Cemetery Committee. He is preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Purcell, and a son, Talmadge Purcell.
He is survived by a daughter, Verdean P. Brannen of Savannah; sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Beverly Purcell of Savannah and Charles Hillis Purcell of Waycross; daughters-in-law, Jean Purcell of Midway and Camille Purcell of Waycross; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 5, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. James O. Young and Dr. Donnie Brannen officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Purcell, Jamie Parker, Alan Brannen, Bob Silverio, Tommy Martin, and Paul Purcell.
Carter Funeral Chapel of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
