Stanley A. Hubbard
Stanley A. Hubbard, 74, of Bremen, Georgia, died November 13, 2005. He was born on October 30, 1931, in Tattnall County, Georgia, the son of the late Samuel Alfred Hubbard and AllieFaye Hubbard. He was a retired salesman and Vice President of Hubbard Company, and a member of First Baptist Church of Bremen.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Lovvorn Hubbard of Bremen; children: Stanley "Ridley" and Andrea Hubbard of Bremen, Sally and Dale Stapler of Alpharetta, and Tom Hubbard of Bremen; one sister, Earl Nethery of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 17, at First Baptist Church of Bremen, with the Rev. Tom Stevenson; Frank Horton; Ben Lovvorn; Dale Stapler, Jr.; and the Rev. Herman Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Bremen City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be John Albright, John Gladney, Ed Hubbard, Joe Hubbard, West Hubbard, Josh Lovvorn, Robbie Rivers, and Mike Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Wheeler and Frank Morris.

C. C. Hughes
Crother Crumbwell (C. C.) Hughes, 77, died Wednesday, November 9, 2005, at Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. The Appling County native had lived in Long County and Glennville most of his life. He was retired from Union Camp, and a member of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Tony Marcinkevich of Kingsland; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Merle Hughes of Gum Branch and C. C. Hughes, Jr., of Hinesville; a sister, Emma Lou Hadden of Ludowici; brothers, Matthew Lewis Hughes of Jesup and Leonard Hughes of Ludowici; grandchildren: Dale Marcinkevich, Blake Hughes, and Kaitlin Hughes; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Reuben Cason officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Glenn Hadden, Joe Skeens, Robbie Hughes, Eddie Skeens, Leroy Hutcheson, and Tim Hadden.

Thomas E. Moffett
Thomas Edward Moffett, 43, died Wednesday, November 9, 2005. The Tattnall County native lived in Meridian, Mississippi, during his early childhood, moving back to Glennville in 1982. He was a retired disabled painter, and a member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church in Reidsville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Earlene Waters Wasson.
He is survived by his wife, Susan C. Moffett of Reidsville; daughters, Calysta Ann Moffett and Chasity Elaine Moffett of Reidsville; his father and stepmother, Edward Barnett and Carol Moffett of Meridian, Mississippi; his stepfather, Morris L. Wasson of Glennville; a brother, Timothy C. Moffett of Meridian, Mississippi; a half sister, Ginger Shepperd of Meridian, Mississippi; two stepsisters, Robin Blaho of Nashville, Tennessee, and Kathy Clarke of Collinsville, Mississippi; paternal grandmother, Lucille Moffett of Collinsville, Mississippi; and maternal grandparents, Earl and Merilees Waters of Glennville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 12, at Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder W. H. Durrence and the Rev. Jerald Dorr officiating. Burial was in Love's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Junior Adams, Randy Connell, Brian Durrence, Dale Kicklighter, Heath Smith, Matthew Stubbs, and Shawn Stubbs.

Johnnie Robertson, Sr.
Johnnie Robertson, Sr., 95, died Saturday morning, November 12, 2005, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center. The Ware County native had lived in Reidsville since 1947. He was a retired lieutenant colonel from the U. S. Army. He served in World War II, and was the Commander of Company A, 506th Military Police Battalion. He was Provost Marshal for the 66th Division (Black Panthers) in Europe. He was a graduate of the FBI school in Quantico, Virginia. He was the last living charter member of the Georgia State Patrol, and was the oldest living State Trooper in the United States. He was a member of the Reidsville Lions Club, VFW Post #7764, and the Tattnall County Shrine Club. He was a Master Mason, who served as Past Master of the District and of Rising Sun Lodge #32. He was a Deacon and a member of Reidsville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Fannie Robertson.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Annette and Wayne Coleman of Highland, North Carolina; a son and daughter-in-law, J. W. "Jack" and Pam Robertson, Jr., of Reidsville; five grandchildren: Chris and Kelly Coleman and J. W. "Trey", Wesley, and Joshua Robertson; seven great-grandchildren: Christian and Caileigh Chandler; Chase and Devin Coleman; and Cole, Drew, and "Sean" J. W. Robertson IV.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, November 14, at Reidsville Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Sterling Bargeron, the Rev. Carlton Duke, Glen Watson, J. W. "Trey" Robertson, and Georgia State Patrol Colonel Bill Hitchens.
Active pallbearers were the Georgia State Patrol Honor Guard.
Honorary pallbearers were Deacons of Reidsville Baptist Church, Reidsville Lions Club, VFW Post #7764, E. B. Register Sunday School Class, and all law enforcement.

C. J. Sikes
C. J. Sikes, 77, died Thursday, November 10, 2005, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Tattnall County native had lived in Jacksonville, moving back to Glennville in 1988. He was retired from Carolina Freight in Jacksonville, and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Troy and Cora Sikes, and brothers, Curtis and Hymie Sikes.
He is survived by his wife, Madelene D. Sikes of Glennville; daughters, Judy Sikes and Jan Sikes, both of Jacksonville, Florida; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Sikes and Tony Sikes, both of Glennville, and Jeffrey and Loretta Sikes of Tampa, Florida; one brother, Billy Sikes of Glennville; sisters, Betty S. Kilby and Annette Sikes, both of Glennville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 12, at Carter Funeral Chapel in Glennville, with the Rev. James O. Young and the Rev. Oscar Rowe, Jr., officiating. Burial was in Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Hugh D. Cooper
Hugh D. Cooper, 70, died Monday, November 13, 2000, at his residence in Glennville, Georgia. The Johnson County native had lived in Waycross, Georgia, moving to Glennville 37 years ago. He was retired from Civil Service at Ft. Stewart and from the Georgia National Guard as a CW-4 and Unit AST of the Glennville National Guard Armory. He was a member of the Chatham Artillery, a Gideon, and one of the original board members of Pinewood Christian Academy. He was a member and a deacon of Cornerstone Bible Church.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby W. Cooper of Glennville; one son and daughter-in-law, Hugh D., Jr., and Sherri Cooper of Glennville; two sisters, Sandra Mansell of Ft. Mitchell, Alabama, and Shirley Hopkins of Smithville, Georgia; two grandchildren, Casey Ellen Cooper and Robert Cole Cooper, both of Glennville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 16, at Carter Funeral Chapel in Glennville, Georgia, conducted by the Rev. Jim Sutton, the Rev. Robert Kicklighter, and Tab Smith. Burial was in the Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.
Pallbearers were Russell Belding, Andy Perkins, Lem Waters, Tommy Hilliard, Brad Tatum, and Jeffery Blocker.
Honorary pallbearers were elders of Cornerstone Bible Church.

W. Nolan Purcell
W. Nolan Purcell, 87, died Friday afternoon, November 17, 2000, after an extended illness. He was a Tattnall County native, and was a retired teacher. He taught for over 20 years with the Tattnall County Board of Education, and also taught in Liberty, Long, Walton, and DeKalb counties. He was a member of the Masons and the Tattnall County Retired Teachers organization. He was a lifelong active member of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for 25 years. For several years, he served the State of Georgia by teaching the 55 Alive Defensive Driving Course for senior citizens.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Dent Purcell of Glennville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dent Wiley Purcell and Ann Rushing Purcell of Rincon and Douglas Michael Purcell and Luann Lipscomb Purcell of Warner Robins; three brothers and two sisters-in-law: Lannis and Annie Merle Purcell of Glennville; L. M. and Doreatha Purcell of Glennville; and Labon Purcell of Savannah; five grandchildren: Edwin Purcell, Mikki Purcell Thomas, and Mieke Purcell Kramer, all of Rincon; and Matthew Purcell of Rome and Wiley Purcell of Warner Robins; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 19, at 3:30 p.m. at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Powell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Paul Purcell, Ennis Purcell, R. D. Folsom, Talmadge Purcell, Lonnie Skeens, and Alan Purcell.

Charles W. McMillan
Charles W. McMillan, 70, died Friday, November 17, 2005, at his residence in Long County. The Tifton native retired from the U. S. Air Force with 20 years' service, and was later associated with Delta Life Insurance Company. He was a square dance caller for 20 years, a member of ASCAP and American Callers Association, and served as president of SEGFRS Callers of Savannah.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Cooper McMillan of Glennville; daughters, Debra and Gwen McMillan of Texas, April McMillan of Minnesota, Lisa Harmon of Port Wentworth, and Jeannie Denmark of Ellabell; sons, Charles McMillan, Jr., of Ohio and Andrew Jay Stallings of Pembroke; sisters, Helen Hall of Atlanta and Madge Doles of Inverness, Florida; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 21, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville chapel, with the Rev. Charlie Cooper officiating. Burial was in Little Rock Baptist Church Cemetery, with full military honors.
Pallbearers were Josh Privette, John Narcarti, Bobby Fuller, Aaron Raulerson, Jimmy Stacey, Theron Futch, and Johnny Shruptine.

Billy L Proctor
Billy L. Proctor, 71, died Tuesday, November 18, 2003, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah after a long battle with polycystic kidney disease. The Tattnall County native retired as a master sergeant after 22 years in the U. S. Air Force. He was a Korean War veteran where he received many awards and citations, including Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and Silver Star. After his military career, he worked 14 years at Georgia Southern University and retired as a Physician’s Assistant. He loved to fish, and was a loving and devoted husband, daddy, and granddaddy.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dorian M. Proctor of Glennville; a daughter and son-in-law, Tyran “Ty” and Sanford L. Carter of Hinesville; three sons and daughters-in-law: Larry and Sue Proctor of Deltona, Florida; Bill and Jill Proctor of Liberty Lake, Washington; and Tyrone and Loretta Proctor of Glennville; sisters and brother-in-law, Lilla and Thurman Mobley of Glennville and Nell Mingle of Savannah; one sister-in-law, Vernell Fort of Baxley; 11 grandchildren, including Nicole Proctor and Madison Proctor; 13 great-grandchildren; and special nieces, Debbie Waters and Laynette Ferguson.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 21, at Carter Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Kenny Edwards officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery, with full military honors.

Betty D. Essick
Betty Dubberly Essick, 60, died Thursday, November 20, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was a native of Glennville, moving to Cordele as a teenager. She was a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton, a graduate of GSCU in Milledgeville, and a graduate of Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a retired educator, and a Baptist by faith. After retirement, she enjoyed life in Sterling, Alaska, only recently moving to Kingman, Kansas, to be close to family. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald Dubberly.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Essick of Kingman, Kansas; her mother, Joyce Lewis Dubberly of Cordele; a sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Larry Watson of Kingman, Kansas; a stepdaughter, Jerri Beth Essick of Phoenix, Arizona; a stepson, Nathan Essick of Phoenix, Arizona; nephews and nieces, Shannon and Amanda Watson and Kris and Jen Watson, all of Wichita, Kansas; a great-nephew, Kyle Watson; and three grandsons: Zane Essick, Dalton Essick, and Brice Benter.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 23, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
