Maudie P. Stanley, 93, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at her residence. The Treutlen County native had lived most of her life in Glennville, and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. She worked in the restaurant business for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Stanley, Sr.
She is survived by a daughter, Nora Lee Pevahouse of Glennville; a son, J. H. Stanley, Jr., of Glennville; a sister, Annie Lou Thompson of Glennville; a sister-in-law, Dora Paul of Glennville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville chapel, with the Rev. Oscar Rowe, Jr., officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Timmy Driggers, Jeremy Driggers, Mike Butler, Ashley Butler, Joey Adams, and Brad Swope.

Gary Don Waher, Jr.
Gary Don Waher, Jr., 36, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006, from injuries received in an automobile accident. The Wayne County native had lived in Georgia, Kentucky, and Arkansas, and was a U. S. Navy veteran. He was employed with the Federal Prison System for the past 11 years as a Senior Officer Specialist, and was past president of the Federal Officers Union.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Lynn Wilson Waher of Glennville; children: Hannah Elizabeth Waher, Hailey Nicole Waher, Rachel Lindsay Waher, and Ronnie Elton Waher, all of Glennville; his parents, Gary and Rita Waher of Collins and Martha and Curtis Todd of Odum; grandparents, Elizabeth Yarbrough of Glennville and Leola Davidson of Darien; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tammy Jenkins of Collins and Tammy and Jim Bland of Jesup; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Beth Wilson of Reidsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 14, at Carter Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Glennville Memorial Gardens, with military honors.
Pallbearers were Jim Bland, Leonard Spell, Bruce Sanders, Doris Spell, Larry Spell, and Andy Wilson, Jr.

Bertie Ruth Zupancic
Bertie Ruth Zupancic, 87, died January 12, 2006. The longtime Florida resident had formerly lived in Georgia. She was a homemaker, and was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Marta Nash and Lanita and Edward Villandre of Cooper City, Florida; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Isabel Zupancic of New Mexico; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 19, at Stoney Hill Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Harris Nix officiating.

Swinton Smith
W. Swinton Smith, Sr., 86, died Sunday, January 18, 2004, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Tattnall County native was a member and deacon of Reidsville Baptist Church, a World War II veteran, had served as mayor of the City of Reidsville for 14 years, and was on the Tattnall County Board of Commissioners. He was a Lions Club member, a 50-year Mason, and served on numerous civic organization boards. During his public service, he was instrumental in promoting the Tattnall County Hospital, the Alatamaha State Park, the Reidsville Airport, and the Housing Authority.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxie Adkins Smith.
He is survived by a daughter and special friend, Carole Smith Bright and Scott Fay of Reidsville; two sons and daughters-in-law, William S. “Billy,” Jr. and Maxine Smith of St. Simons Island and Robert “Bobby” and Nancy Smith of Collins; one sister, Ruth Anderson of Reidsville; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, at Cobb Funeral Home, Reidsville Chapel, with the Rev. Sterling Bargeron officiating. Burial was in Maxie Smith Memorial Gardens, adjacent to Reidsville City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Glen Smith, Todd Bright, Clay Anderson, Wil Smith III, Chuck Sullenger, and Heath Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were law enforcement and DMV personnel.

Inez Rush
Inez G. Baker Rush, 88, died Friday, January 16, 2004, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. The Tattnall County native retired from Union Camp in 1971, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church, and the Golden Age Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Audie L. Rush.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Ronnie L. and Linda Rush of Savannah, Carroll J. and Sarah Rush of Bloomingdale, and Bobby D. Rush of Glennville; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 19, at Cobb Funeral Home, Glennville Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Clifford Coursey. Burial was at 2:30 p.m. in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Savannah.
Pallbearers were Quinton Rush, Tommy Baker, Robert DeLoach, Raneldo Boyd, and Jerry Baker.

Grover Carswell, Jr.
Grover “Pops” Carswell, Jr., 56, died January 11, 2004. He was the son of the late Grover Sr. and Willie Mae Carswell. He was a faithful, active member of Spaulding Grove Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board as Secretary, and was a member of the Spaulding Grove Young Adult Choir. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Glenwood #139, where he served as past Worshipful Master and Secretary. He served as a Councilman for the City of Alamo, Georgia. He was employed at Thomas and Betts of Vidalia, Georgia, for over 30 years; Wilcox State Prison in Abbeville, Georgia; and Hazlehurst Mills in Hazlehurst, Georgia. He was a graduate of Wheeler County Training School in Alamo, Georgia, and he later attended Southeastern Technical College and earned a degree in Industrial Maintenance.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley McRae Carswell; children: Anthony (Mary Ann) Carswell; Sophia (William) Carwell; Grover Carswell III; Keryon Carswell; and Brian Stevenson; two sisters, Mary (Lee) Hall and Janice (Ricky) Culbreth; three brothers: Alonzo (Carol) Carswell, Samuel Carswell, and Bruce Carswell; three brothers-in-law: Clyde McRae, Donald (Jean) McRae, and Simon (Orita) McRae; five sisters-in-law: Marjorie Rease, Daisy (Robert) Whitfield, Florine Brantley, Debra (Edward) Anderson, and Elaine (Terry) Ross; five aunts and uncles; 14 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 17, at 12 noon at Spaulding Grove Baptist Church in Alamo, Georgia, officiated by the Rev. Larry D. Harvey. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Masonic Brothers of Lodge #139.

Sun Hui Johnson
Sun Hui Johnson, 72, died Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton, Georgia. The Glennville resident was a native of Seoul, South Korea, and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack E. Johnson.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Edaline Manson of Hampton, Virginia; five nephews: Jerry Johnson, Marty Johnson, Eric Johnson, and Steve Johnson, all of North Carolina; and Dickey Manson of Virginia.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 20, at Glennville City Cemetery, with the Rev. Keith Rustin officiating.
Pallbearers were nephews.

Della DeLoach
Margaret “DeIla” DeLoach, 65, of Longwood, Florida, died Saturday, January 10, 2004. She was born in Glennville, Georgia, and was a longtime resident of Longwood where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Longwood. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and family, being a homemaker, traveling, playing the piano, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, David “D. A.” DeLoach of Longwood; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Rae Jean DeLoach of Lake Mary and Dean and Debbie DeLoach of Gainesville; a sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Charles Swindell of Glennville; three grandchildren: Rachel, Sarah, and Emily; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, at Carey Hand Funeral Home in Longwood, Florida, with Bro. Chris Whaley officiating. Interment was in Highland Memorial Gardens in Forest City, Florida.

Levy Miller
Levy Clifford Miller, 77, died at his home on Sunday, January 18, 2004, after a long illness. He was the son of the late Henry Elmer and Annie Mae Campbell Miller of Brunswick, Georgia, and had lived in Reidsville, Georgia, for nearly 60 years. He was a graduate of South Georgia College in Douglas and Georgia Southern College in Statesboro. He retired from the Georgia State Patrol in 1979 at the rank of captain with 36 years of service. He served in the U. S. Army Reserves from 1948-1986, retired with a rank of colonel, and received the Meritorious Service Medal in 1981. He was a life member of the Peace Officers’ Association of Georgia as Secretary Treasurer for 11 years. He was a member of Rising Sun Masonic Lodge #32 for 54 years, and a member of Reidsville Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Rebecca Coker Miller; a daughter, Kathi M. Calhoun; and a brother, Murrell Miller.
He is survived by his children, Angie M. (Charlie) Holt of Warner Robins and Cliff (Katie) Miller of Watkinsville; one sister, Alice M. Taylor of Albany; two brothers, Henry E. Miller, Jr., of Brunswick and Arthur R. Miller of Bracketville, Texas; and grandchildren: Christopher Wilson of Forsyth; Paul W. Calhoun III of Vidalia; Hannah Miller, Christian Miller, and Mitchell Miller, all of Watkinsville; and Charles Holt III of Warner Robins.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, at the Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home in Reidsville.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 22, at Reidsville Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Reidsville City Cemetery, with Masonic Burial Rites.
Active pallbearers will be Bobby McDaniel, Billy Smith, Kenneth Youngblood, Kenneth Blocker, Billy Stewart, and Joe Waters.
Honorary pallbearers will be law enforcement personnel.

Cindy K. Lynn, 39, died Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at Tattnall Community Hospital. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville most of her life, was a homemaker, and attended the Church of God. She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Miller III.
She is survived by two sons, Tommy Boneschans and Brent Boneschans of Glennville; her mother, Shirley Lynn of Vidalia; one brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Sherri Lynn of Lyons; one niece, Amanda Lynn of Lyons; one nephew, Shea Lynn of Glennville; a special aunt and uncle, Evelyn and Winton Lynn, and friend, John Craig; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 22, at Carter Funeral Chapel, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. at Carter Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Glennville City Cemetery.

Dana F. Beasley
Dana F. Beasley, 55, died Thursday, January 16, 2003, at Hospice Savannah after an extended illness. The Wayne County native had lived in Glennville, Georgia, for the past 30 years. She was an educator, having served at Pinewood Christian Academy and in the Tattnall County School System for 35 years. She was a member of Cornerstone Bible Church.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Robert Winston Beasley of Glennville; three daughters: Julie Blocker, Sara Mercer, and Suzannah Beasley, all of Glennville; one son, Matthew Beasley of Dunwoody; one sister, Sheryl Gerrald of Statesboro; six brothers: Larry Flowers of Macon; Bruce Flowers of Cobbtown; Dwight Flowers of McBean; Talmadge Flowers of College Park; Doug Flowers of Hephzibah; and Dwayne Flowers of Martinez; four grandchildren: Daniel Blocker, Maggie Blocker, Emily Mercer, and Liliana Mercer, all of Glennville; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 18, at Cornerstone Bible Church, with Bro. Robert Kicklighter and the Rev. Bruce Flowers officiating. Burial was in Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lee Davis, Daniel Flowers, Bill Floyd, Brian Gerrald, Keith Jeffers, and Chris Moore.

Joseph J. Davison
Joseph J. Davison, 76, of Martinsburg, West Virginia, died Friday, January 10, 2003, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Born October 31, 1926, in Hortense, Georgia, he was the son of the late Josh J. Davison and Ruby White Davison. He was retired after 30 years from the U. S. Navy and served over 14 years with Georgia Power at Plant Hatch in Baxley, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jewell Jacobs Davison; two sons, Eric Davison of Winchester, Virginia, and Randy E. Davison of Hortense, Georgia, and his wife, Pat Davison; one daughter, Vickie Hollowell of Reston, Virginia, and her husband Dr. William Thomas Hollowell; five grandchildren: Matthew Hollowell, Ashley Hollowell and Leslie Hollowell; Erin Davison; and Brandi Dixon Fowler; one great-granddaughter, Mikayla Fowler; one brother, Dave Davison of Ocala, Florida; four sisters: Louise Hoy and Jeanette Manning of Hortense, Georgia; Marlene Gib of Rock Hill, South Carolina; and Katie Davison of Pooler, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Davison.
A funeral service with full honors and interment will be held at Arlington NationalCemetery in Arlington, Virginia, February 21.
