Mr. Vance David Free age 57 of Thomason Rd. Young Harris passed away on Tuesday Oct. 24, 2006 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Free was born on April 22, 1949 in Clayton, GA, The son of the late William ( Bill) Free and the late Frances Brock Free. He was an Industrial Painter by trade. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War, for which he received a Purple Heart. He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Free in 1977.Mr.Free was a member of the Gumlog Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Free are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Saben Scott and Brooke Free of Ranlo, NC, Lonnie Dale Moses of Clover, SC., one brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Emma Free of Waren, NC, four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Katie and Denny Childers of Casa Grande, AZ., Abigail and Billy Pope of Bessemer City, NC, Ruby Dowdle of Charlotte, NC, Special family, Hal and Pat Phillips of Young Harris, three grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 at 2:00pm from the Marcus Bramlett Cemetery in Clayton, GA. with the Rev. Thomas Teems officiating. Military honors will be presented by the Clayton Honor Guard. MARVIN RASTUS DOCKERY
Mr. Marvin Rastus Dockery age 60 of Young Harris Hwy Warren, NC. passed away on Friday Oct. 20, 2006 at his home. Mr. Dockery was born on Dec. 9, 1947 in Murphy, NC, The son of Mary Lou Graves Dockery and the late Lee Dockery. He retired in 1993 as a Boiler Maker and was a member of the I. B. B. M. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Gail Dockery in 2003 and by a brother, Clinton Kephart. Mr. Dockery was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Dockery are one son and daughter-in-law, Stewart and Linda Dockery of Warren, NC, mother, Mary Lou Kephart of Murphy, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and James Watkins of Blue Ridge, Tammy and Randall Beasley of Murphy, Debra and Glenn Barnett of Murphy, two brothers and sister-in-laws, Gene and Lisa Kephart of Murphy, Mike and Kristi Kephart of Murphy, two grandchildren, Cody and Micci Dockery of Columbia, TN., A best friend, Charles Arvie of Warrne, NC, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006 at 6:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers and Rev. Roy Graves officiating. Special music will be presented by Dawn Decker. Interment will follow in the Dockery family cemetery in Warren, NC.

Mrs. Mary C. Forney age 95 of Caylee Anne Drive Blairsville passed away on Monday Oct. 23, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Forney was born on Spet.11, 1911 in Savannah, GA, The daughter of the late Ernest Cordray and the late Lila Bouche Cordray. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lester Forney in 1995.Mrs.Forney was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Forney are one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Jerry Elizabeth Forney of Blairsville, two grandchildren, Stephen Forney of Savannah, David and Marci Forney of Blairsville, two great grandchildren, Christian and Elizabeth, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2006 at 11:00am from the Catholic Cemetery in Savannah with Dr. Phillip Meeks officiating. The family will meet with friends at the Hubert C. Mrs. Frankie Mae Fortenberry age 87 of Owltown Rd., Blairsville passed away on Monday Oct. 23, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Fortenberry was born on Nov. 2, 1918 in Union County, The daughter of the late William Frank Summerour and the late Florence Edna Gillespie Summerour. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Gibson Cook in 2006.Mrs.Fortenberry was a member of the Coosa United Methodist church.
Surviving Mrs. Fortenberry are her loving husband of twenty years, Vernon Fortenberry of Blairsville, one daughter, Susan Elaine Alexander of Blairsville, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ira Eugene Gibson of Shelby, NC, Jerry Martin and Teresa Gibson of Hendersonville, TN., four step sons and daughters-in-law, J. W. and Janice Fortenberry of Blairsville, Mitchell and Betty Jo Fortenberry of Adairsville, GA, Jimmy and Ann Fortenberry of of Rome, GA, Randy and Sharon Fortenberry of Blairsville, three sisters and one brother-in-law, Sue Summerour, Shirley Brackett, Katherine and Norman Bachelor all of Blairsville, eleven grandchildren, Waylon and Holly Gibson, Dawn and Larry Cook, Pam Madden, Veda, Janice, and Roberta Weaver, Destinee, Heather and Shane Gibson, fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Parker Reed Hambelton Sr. age 82 of Baberry Ln. Blairsville formerly of Ft. Pierce, FL. passed away on Thursday Oct. 6, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Hambelton was born on Sept. 11, 1923 in Ft.Pierce, FL, the son of the late Leslie Hambelton and the late Jesse Parker Hambelton. He was retired from the US Marine Corps and served in the WWII, The Korean War and The Vietnam War. Mr. Hambelton was of the Presbyterian Faith.
Surviving Mr. Hambelton are his wife of fifty eight years, Dorothy Sullivan Hambelton of Hilton Head, SC., Two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Charlie Hambelton of Ft. Pierce, FL, Reed Hambelton of Blairsville, two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jim Lindsey of Ft. Pierce, Candy and Darren Gordon of Hilton Head, SC., one brother, Denny Hambelton of FL, eight Grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Leo Chastain age 51 of Goldmine Rd. Young Harris passed away on Monday October 10, 2005 in Union County. Mr. Chastain was born on Feb. 2, 1954 in Hayesville, NC, The son of the late James Thomas Chastain and the late Vernia Garrett Chastain. At the time of his death he was employed with the Fannin County Road Department. He had lived in Union County for the past thirty one years. Mr. Chastain was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Chastain are his loving wife of thirty one years, Rita Chastain of Young Harris, one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shayla Chastain of Blairsville, Three sisters and brothers-in-law, Emma and Roy Free of Warne, NC, Iona and Carl Campbell of Lincolntin, NC, Blanche and Thomas Teems of Henry County, VA, four Brothers and three sister-in-laws, His twin brother Leon and Geneva Chastain, Wallace and Shirley Chastain, Billy and Rita Chastain, and Clifford Chastain all of Hayesville, One Grandchild, Shelby Chastain, Two Step Grandchildren, Ashley Johnson and Trevor Gordon, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday Oct. 13, 2005 at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Thomas Teems officiating. Special music will be presented by members of Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. William Carlos Henderson age 47 of James Henderson Rd. Young Harris passed away on Wednesday Oct. 12, 2005 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Henderson was born on Feb. 16, 1958 in Hiawassee, GA, The son of Jim and Alice Henderson. He had lived all of his life in Union County.Mr. Henderson was a member of Many Forks Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Henderson are his parents, James and Alice Henderson of the home, three brothers and two sister-in-laws, Doug and Brenda Henderson of Blairsville, Darrell and Mary Henderson of Brasstown, NC, and Sammy Henderson of Young Harris, two Nephews, Eric Henderson of Young Harris and Dustin Henderson of Blairsville, two Nieces, Vanessa and Haley Henderson of Brasstown, NC, one great Niece, Angyll Henderson of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Hazel Marcum Garrett age 77 of Coker Hill Drive Hayesville, formerly of New Port, MI. passed away on Thursday Oct. 13, 2005 in the Murphy Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Garrett was born on March 5, 1928 in Garrett, KY., The daughter of the late Ranson Marcum and the late Loustela Ward Marcum. She had retired from the Riverside Hospital in Trenton, MI. with over twenty one years of service. Mrs. Garrett was a member of the Monroe Full Gospel Church.
Surviving Mrs. Garrett are her loving husband of twenty five years, John Herbert Garrett of Hayesville, Four Step children, Donna Mae Sirls of Canton, NC, Nancy Hyle, Shirley Blanton and Mary Ann Manis all of Sylvia, NC, Steve and Patricia Connely of New Port, MI., two sisters, Grace Heath of Columbus, OH, Janice Willard of River Rouge, MI., two brothers, Junior Marcum of Whiteburg, KY., Willard Marcum of Oxford, MI., two grandchildren, Ben Blanton and Jennifer McMahan, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Elizabeth Lule Bond Eubanks age 90 of Moon Shadow View Ln. Blairsville passed away on Thursday May 24, 2007 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Eubanks was born on March 25, 1917 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late George Bond and the late Agnes Dressback Bond. She was Past President of Tony Valley Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty one years, James Thomas Eubanks in 1997, mother and step father, Agnus and Homer Evans, and a grandchild, Pamela Eubanks. Mrs. Eubanks was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving Mrs. Eubanks are three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Faye Eubanks of Blairsville, Fred and Ann Eubanks of Ormond Beach, FL, Gary and Audrey Eubanks of Cumming, GA, granddaughters, Robin Casey, Terri Eubanks and Angela Eubanks, grandsons, Mark and Ryan Eubanks, great-grandchildren, Colleen Casey, Declan Casey and Robyn Eubanks, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Bryan Charles Malone age 48 of Skeenah Gap Rd. Blairsville formerly of Carson City, NV. passed away on Tuesday May 29, 2007 in the Emory Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Malone was born on April 25, 1959 in Anaheim, CA, the son of Wes Malone and Dixie Meyers Malone. He was a member of the Promise Keepers, The Men’s Group, Worked in Youth Ministries for many years, also worked at Missions in Los Angels, CA. Bryan was a man of integrity who loved his family and loved helping his fellow man and serving God. He was truly loved forever missed. Bryan was a member of the Blairsville Church of The Nazarene.
Surviving Mr.Malone are his loving wife and lifelong sweetheart, Laurie Mossholder Malone of Blairsville, one daughter and son-in-law, Rochelle and Matthew Kronenberg of Gardenville, NV., mother, Dixie Malone of Brey. CA, father, Wes Malone of Carson City, NV., two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tracey and Pat Milsop of Salton Sea, CA, Linda and Bill Gile of Whittier, CA, three step brothers, Kelly, Jeff and Steven O’Brien, one grandchild, Faith Nicole Kronenberg, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 7, 2007 at 3:00pm from the Faith Community Church of the Nazarene in Yorbe Linda, CA, with the Rev. P. D. James officiating.
