Farrell “Buck” Smith
Mr. Farrell “Buck” Smith, age 56, of Hwy. 515, Blairsville passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013 at his home following an extended illness. He was born September 30, 1956 in Young Harris, GA. Buck loved Jesus and going to church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and playing guitar. He was a loving father, son, brother and grandfather. Buck was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Nettie Smith of Young Harris, GA, children, Amanda and Preston Cabe of Hayesville, NC, Anita and Robert Vancel of Fishers, IN and Adam Smith of Blairsville, GA, brothers, Herman Smith of Gainesville, GA, Carl and Genny Helton of Gainesville, GA and Calvin Helton of Talladega, AL and Clayton and Diane Helton of Gainesville, GA, sister Betty Ruth Smith of Stone Mountain, GA, four grandchildren, Kaitlyn Cabe, Maci Cabe, T.J. Vancel and Tucker Vancel, several nieces, nephew and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raburne Wilson and Rev. Carl Helton officiating. Music will be by the Kelley Trio. Pallbearers will be Preston Cabe, Carl Helton, Clayton Helton, Jimmy Carter, Robert Vancel and Steve Millwood. Interment will follow in Zebulon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Ruth Bunker Johnson
Mrs. Ruth Bunker Johnson, age 96, of Steertown RD, Murphy, passed away, Monday December 26, 2011 at her home following an extended illness. She was born in San Juan Puerto Rico daughter of the late Franklin and Isidora Aponte Bunker. She had taught school in Palm Beach County, FL. Mrs. Johnson moved this area 6 years ago from Tampa, FL. She wore a red beret, had a leopard skin walking stick, carried a puppy dog purse, and loved to perch her glasses on the puppy dog’s nose because she loved to count the smiles she got. Her favorite saying was “She was too blessed to be stressed”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter William Johnson in 1996. She was of the Catholic Faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Lois Yeager of Murphy, NC, Valerie and Dean Hampers of Tampa, FL and Mary and Rick Gallo of Brunswick, GA, sister, Mary Bunker of Myerstown, PA, brother, Rex Bunker of San Juan, Puerto Rico, five grandchildren, Bethany, Jon David, Susana, Marisa and Viviana, also six great-grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time. Interment will be in St. Andrews Church Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL.

Marie Lois Moore
Mrs. Marie Lois Coffey Moore, age 72, of Crooked Creek RD, Young Harris, GA passed away, Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at her home following an extended illness. Marie was born in Marble, NC, on January 5, 1939, daughter of the late Luther and Mary Bell Queen Coffey. She was preceded in death by her husband Pastor William Ray Moore in 2001 and son, James Moore in 1968.
Mrs. Moore is survived by her son, Johnnie Moore of Florence, SC, daughter, Jeannie Moore of TX, grandchildren Johnnie Moore, Jr., Julia Mustakas and Dustin Ballew, brothers, Howard Coffey and wife Martha, and Dale Coffey, special friends, B.J. Hunter and Rheta McConnell, several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., at Mission Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Darin Shuler, Rev. Homer Wilson and Rev. Johnnie Moore, JR officiating. Music will be by Mission Hill Choir, Korn Sisters and Larson Sisters. In lieu of flowers make memorials to Mission Hill Baptist Church or The Moss Cemetery Fund.

Fred Houston Poteet
Mr. Fred Houston Poteet, age 58, of Blue Ridge Hwy, Blairsville, passed away, Monday, January 2, 2012 at his home following an extended illness. Fred was born December 29, 1953 in Chattanooga, TN. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He moved here in 1992. Fred was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Poteet and a son, Justin Poteet in 1992. He was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Poteet of Blairsville, mother, Pauline Driggins of Hixon, TN, daughter and son-in-law, Becka and Tim Hamilton of Blairsville, Carly Poteet of Gainesville, GA, brothers, Paul and Julie Poteet of Palm Beach, FL, Bill and Kathy Hixon of Dayton, TN, Jim and Deborah Hixon of Hixon, TN, Mike and Diane Poteet of Etowah, TN, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Terry and Glenda White of Chattanooga, TN, Larry and Diane Blanks of Fayetteville, GA, grandchildren, Cody Short, Peyton Hamilton, Makenzie Randolph and Braylon Randolph, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Hood officiating. Music will be by Becka, Cody and Tim. Honorary Pallbearers will be co-workers of Colwell PDC. In lieu of flowers make memorials to Glenda Gooch Foundation. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.

John (Jack) Joseph Holleran
Mr. John (Jack) Joseph Holleran, age 71, of Blairsville, GA, passed away on January 4, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Holleran was born on Christmas Day in 1940, the son of the late James and Helen Holleran. Mr. Holleran was a graduate of Millburn High School in Millburn, NJ, Class of 1958. Mr. Holleran attended Rider University in Trenton, NJ. He served in the United States Army. Mr. Holleran was a self employed Manufactures Representative. He was a loving husband to his wife, Lynne, a loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen Holleran, and one sister, Joan Pappas. Mr. Holleran attended St. Francis of Assisi Church in Blairsville, GA.
Mr. Holleran is survived by and lovingly remembered by his wife, Lynne. All of Jacks’s children from his first marriage to Leslie Poe, reside in St. Augustine, FL, a son, Jack, a son, Jeff and his wife Kelly, a daughter Kelly and her husband Dan Borrer, two grandchildren, Reilly Kathleen Holleran and Jameson Murphy Holleran, known to his grandchildren as Pop-Pop. Mr. Holleran was from a big Irish family. He was the fourth child in a family of six, two brothers Jim and Bill, three sisters, Joan Pappas (deceased) Terry Motzel and Ellyn Holleran. Mr. Holleran had many nieces and nephews, of whom loved “Uncle Jack”. He moved to Blairsville, GA in 2001 and he truly loved Blairsville, GA! Mr. Holleran lived in Seagirt, NJ and Jupiter, FL before moving to Blairsville, GA. Mr. Holleran was a gentleman in every respect and will be sorely missed by those who loved him. His sense of humor was quick. He made everyone laugh. His favorite song, as were many Irish tunes, was the “Holleran Song”. Mr. Holleran was a member of the Elks in St. Augustine, FL, the American Legion in Hiawassee and a member of the Chatuge Gun Club.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Father Bob Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.

GARY THOMAS CAMPBELL
Mr. Gary Thomas Campbell, age 71, of Blairsville, GA passed away, Wednesday, July 6, 2001 at his residence following an extended illness.Gary was born October 24, 1939 in Dunedin, FL, the son of the late Weldon Campbell and the late Catherine Pinder Campbell. He moved to Blairsville in 2001 from Lawrenceville, GA because he loved the mountains. Gary was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was an avid fisherman and loved to camp. His favorite pastime was making jams and jellies and giving them away. His sons Tommy and Johnny were his favorite fishing buddies. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Catherine Campbell. Gary was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Campbell of the home. two sons, Tommy and Joanie Campbell and Johnny Campbell all of Blairsville, GA; a brother and sister-in-law, Vic and Gail Campbell of Greer, SC; special granddaughter, Savannah Campbell of Holiday, FL and great-granddaughter, Ashley Star Marino of Holiday, FL, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Gary were held Saturday, July 9, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. George Cline and Rev. Wayne Wood officiating. Special music was provided by Judy Brinson. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Travis, Jim, Eddie, Phil and Gene Campbell, Jimmy Cox, Al Farmer, Charlie Cook, Julian Woodbury, Dennis Tylor and Walter Young. Interment followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish the family suggest memorial donations be made to Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Antioch Baptist Church, 27 Antioch Church RD, Blairsville, GA 30512. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8pm.

BETTY ANN CREAMER
Mrs. Betty Ann Creamer age 79 of Mountain Top Drive Blue Ridge passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011 in the Heritage Health Care of Blue Ridge following an extended illness. Mrs. Creamer was born on Aug. 4, 1931 in Macon, GA, the daughter of the late Clarence Hall and the late Reba Mae Bridges Hall. She retired from the Florida Department of Labor with over thirty years of service. Betty was a very special and hardworking lady. She was loved by everyone she met. She enjoyed gardening and upholstery. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Creamer in 1970 and by a son, Joseph Creamer in 2002. Mrs. Creamer was a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Creamer are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Patricia and Russell Schinck of Blue Ridge, Lisa and Emanuel Legg of Blairsville, Cheryl Creamer of Morganton, one son, Dan Creamer of Blairsville, two sisters, Elizabeth McCoy of Greenville, SC., Becky Suddath of Macon, GA, two nieces, Jan and Judy, twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a late date with interment following in Tilley Bend Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Mission To Serve in memory of Mrs. Creamer.

LESLIE DORINE DRUMMOND
Mrs. Leslie Dorine Drummond age 76 of Gordon Thomas Rd. Blairsville passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the home of her son in Hampton, GA. Mrs. Drummond was born on Jan. 7, 1935 in Morganton, GA, the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Thomas and the late Radie Newman Thomas. Leslie enjoyed quilting and gardening. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a friend to many. She was preceded in death her husband, Gary Donald Drummond Sr. in 1981 and by five brothers, Gordon, Carmel, Ruben, James and J.C. Thomas also by two sisters, Arizona Prince and Rose Thomas. Mrs. Drummond was a member of Carmel Baptist church and was attending Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Drummond are one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Sheila Drummond of Hampton, GA, one daughter, Lynn Drummond of Baton Rouge, LA., one sister, Myrtle T. and Earl Arnold of Blairsville, two grandchildren, Linda and Mike Smith, Marcy and Gary Sorrell, one great-granddaughter, Savannah Smith, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 12, 2011 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Luther Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-9pm.
