Bonnie Beatrice Donnelly
Mrs. Bonnie Beatrice Donnelly, age 87, of Rocking Horse Farm Rd., Blairsville, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at Union General Hospital following an extended illness. She was born May 26, 1926 in Cartersville, GA to the late Walter Grady and Edna (Steed) Morris. She moved here 26 years ago from Forest Park, GA. Mrs. Donnelly loved crocheting and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. J. Donnelly in 2004 and a son, Mark K. Donnelly in 2007. Mrs. Donnelly was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Survivors include her children, Dane Donnelly of Great Falls, MT, Timothy Donnelly and his wife Paula of Fayetteville, GA, Bonnie Garrett and her husband Larry of Blairsville, GA and Andrew Donnell of Blairsville, GA, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wade Plott officiating. Interment will follow in Union Memory Gardens. Faye Kopera
Faye Waters Kopera, 85, passed away at her residence in Murphy on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.
She was a native of Nantahala, daughter of the late Samuel “Sam” Jackson Waters and Emma Cope Waters, but lived in Rome, NY, Decatur, AL, New Orleans and Atlanta before moving back to western North Carolina in 1997. After so many years away, she found great joy in being back in the mountains where she was raised. She is remembered by friends as a kind, compassionate and gentle person who loved her family, her home in Murphy, and her mountain heritage.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Kopera, who died February 21, 1971; son Anthony (Tony) Kopera, who died August 13, 2010; three brothers, Dewey Waters, Lawton Waters and Warren Waters; and a sister, Florence Waters Daves. She is survived by her daughter, Irene Kopera Tee and her husband, John, of Atlanta; two sisters, Arlesa Taughinbaugh of Saint Clair, MI, and Arlene May of Marlette, MI; three brothers, Dwight Waters of Topton, NC, Coolidge Waters of Almont, MI and the Rev. S. J. Waters of Topton, NC; three grandchildren, Robert Martin Kopera and his wife Catherine of New York, Charles Michael Kopera of New York, and Lauren Ann Tee of Atlanta; and two great-grandchildren, John Michael Kopera and Maria Lynn Kopera.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 1, 2013 at St. William Catholic Church in Murphy from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, with the Memorial Service at 1:30 pm, followed by a reception. Interment will be in the Valleytown Cemetery in Andrews at 3:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Faye’s memory to the White Oak Flats Baptist Church Building Fund at 1230 Long Branch Road, Topton, NC 28781, to the attention of Ms. Phyllis Bateman.

Iris Nadine Chaffin
Mrs. Iris Nadine Chaffin age 88 of Dean Gap Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday January 22, 2013 at her home following a brief illness. Mrs. Chaffin was born on May 19, 1924 in Gainesboro, TN, the daughter of the late Lattice C. Allen and the late Lucy Taylor Allen. She had lived in Union County for the past forty years. Before she retired she had been employed with Georgia Boot for over thirty years. Nadine loved working in her yard and gardening. She loved animals, especially her cat Boots. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. Chaffin was a member of the Blairsville Church of Christ.
Surviving Mrs. Chaffin are two daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Bill Parker of Blairsville, Winnie and Coy Youngblood of Blairsville, one sister, Evelyn Denson of Gainesboro, TN, three grandchildren, Penny Zeger, Scott Hamby and Yolanda Rowland, four great-grandchildren, Roxanne Zeger, Kristena Zeger, Ashley Rowland and Paxton Hamby, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday Jan. 24, 2013 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Minister Terry Stuart officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Scott Hamby, David Zeger, Jeff Rowland, Kenneth Denson, Danny Denson and Lakelan Barham. Interment will follow in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm. Flowers are accepted or if you wish the family requests that donations may be made to the Blairsville Church of Christ in memory of Mrs. Chaffin.

Evelyn Anna Mae Winkler
Mrs. Evelyn Anna Mae Winkler age 76 of Jazzberry Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday January 23, 2012 at Union General Hospital following a extended illness. Mrs. Winkler was born on February 16, 1936 in Oneonta, N.Y., the daughter of the late Clarence Platt and the late Alice Platt. She has lived in Union County for the past twenty years. Before she retied she had been employed with Bell South. Evelyn was a part of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and American Legion Auxiliary. She loved her favorite pet, Jacque.
Surviving Mrs. Winkler are three children and a son-in-law Robin Winkler of Blairsville, Charlene and Gary Puckett of Franklin, N.C. and Tracy Andrus of Franklin, N.C., two brothers, one sister, two sister-in-laws and one brother-in-law Donald & Gloria Platt of Blairsville, William and Mary Lou Platt of Westford, N.Y. and Alice & Donald Roseboom, seven grandchildren Justin Roberts, Joseph Roberts, Jessica Hughes, Jody McCreadie, Lori McCreadie, Christopher McCreadie and Robert Castanedos, five great-grandchildren, and special friends Skip & Mary Lee Waylette, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Patricia Goodson
Patricia Jean Zacour Goodson, 83, went to be with our Lord on January 24, 2013; at her daughter’s home in Hiawassee, GA after a period of declining health. She was a truly wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, George and Betty Zacour; and, her husband, George Goodson of Palmetto, FL.
She is survived by her son, Mark Goodson and his wife, Veenie of Palmetto, FL, her daughter, Kim Bailey of Hiawassee, GA, four grandchildren; Eva Marie Rickert of Bradenton, FL, Ashley Goodson of Stanford, CA, Kyle Bailey of Gorham, ME, Mike Nachtigal of Tampa, FL and two great-grandchildren, Hanson and Landry Rickert, also of Bradenton, FL.

JEANETTE SUE HOOCK
Mrs. Jeannette Sue Hoock age 67 of Brannon Nix Rd. Young Harris formerly of Goldsboro, NC. passed away on Wednesday July 13, 2011 in the Murphy Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Hoock was born on Feb. 23, 1944 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of the late Leonard Brockmeier and the late Uella Blackburn Brockmeier. Jeanette loved taking care of children. She enjoyed cooking and gameshows. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hoock in 2008, a son, Thomas Graham Adams in 2009, three brothers, Donald, Harry and Leonard Brockmeier, two sisters, Essie Bushman and Lena Zueberer. Mrs. Hoock was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mrs. Hoock are one daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Eric Gibson of Young Harris, one son, Michael Ray Adams of Bradenton, FL, six grandchildren, Lisa Pridgen, Zachary Gibson, Matthew Gibson, Michael Vincent Ray Adams, Raymond Adams and Tiffany Adams, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Hoock.

JAMES KENNITH (KEN) YOUNG
Mr. James Kennith (Ken) Young age 69 of Haralson Drive Blairsville passed away on Thursday July 14, 2011 in Blairsville following a brief illness. Ken was born on Dec. 8, 1941 in Union County, the son of the late James W. Young and the late Grace Lucille Sparks Young. Ken was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. He loved singing, playing and writing songs, but most of all he loved his Lord. He and Elaine owned and operated Ken’s Herbs since 1994. Ken was a member of Ivy Log Baptist Church.
Surviving Ken are his loving wife, Elaine Mason Young of Blairsville, one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Richard Long of Blairsville, one niece, Abby and J. R. Cornett of Blairsville, nephew, James Long of Blairsville, two great nieces, Alex and Ashton King of Blairsville, a host of church family, many, many musician friends, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 16, 2011 at 3:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tony Black, Dr. Don Pruitt and other volunteers. Special music will be presented by any volunteers who may want to sing or play. Serving as pallbearers will be Ken’s friends who want to volunteer. (Ken’s request was that he only wanted anyone who wanted to speak, play music, sing or be a pallbearer to be able to do so. He did not want to imposition anyone, by asking them to do so. That is why he requested only volunteers). Interment will follow in the Meadow View Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9pm.

BEVERLY JEAN MOORE
Mrs. Beverly Jean Moore age 86 of Meadowood Lane Blairsville passed away on Saturday July 16, 2011 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Moore was born on Feb. 6, 1925 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of the late Ray W. Tryon and the late Grace McKinney Tryon. She was the Owner and President of Moore Industrial Tooling for over forty five years. Beverly was a Pink Lady at the Orange Regional Medical Center. While living in Blairsville she attended the Unity Church of the Mountains. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Lee Moore in 1980. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Beverly a member, Elder and recipient of the Women of the Church Lifetime Award at Parklake Presbyterian Church in Orlando, FL.
Surviving Mrs. Moore are one daughter, Beverly Moore and her partner Richard Gibson of Blairsville, two sons and three daughters- in -law, Jim and Xandy Moore of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Dan Moore and his partner, Susan Stoddard of Orlando, FL, Debbie Snipes of Orlando, Debbie Moore of Ashville, NC, one sister, Peggy Tryon of Blairsville, five grandchildren, Michael Lee Smith, Jimmy Moore, Chris Moore, Adam Moore and Abby Moore Skinner, two great-grandchildren, Austin Lee Moore and Colton Alexander Moore, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday August 13, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Park Lake Presbyterian Church with Helen and Dan Debevoise officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Park Lake Presbyterian Church or to Georgia Mtn. Hospice in memory of Mrs. Moore.
