Mrs. Caroline Rose Reader age 80 of Doefield St. Canton, GA. formerly of Blairsville passed away on Monday July 18, 2011 in Marietta following an extended illness. Mrs. Reader was born on July 7, 1931 in Louisville, KY., the daughter of the late Everett Henry Long and the late Viola Cooper Long. Caroline had lived in the Blairsville area from 1983-2005 moving to Canton to be with her son. While living in Blairsville she had worked at McDonalds for several years. She had taught Sunday School at Bellview Methodist Church and also at the First Baptist Church in Atlanta. She was a devout servant to her Lord and was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy George Reader in 2002, four sisters and one brother. Mrs. Reader was a member of the First Baptist Church in Atlanta.
Surviving Mrs. Reader are two sons, Mark Powers of Canton, Stephen Powers of Canton, two grandchildren, Matthew Dewayne Powers and Rachel Jean Powers both of Canton, GA, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 20, 2011 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Steve Rhoten officiating. Special music will be presented by Martha Davenport. Interment will follow in the Holly Hill Cemetery. The family will meet with at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6-9pm.

VIVIAN C. LANCE
Mrs. Vivian C. Lance age 77 of Shoe Factory Rd. Blairsville passed away on Friday August 20, 2010 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Lance was born on August 4, 1933 in Marietta, GA, the daughter of the late Joseph Porter Nichols and the late Hettie Thomas Nichols. Vivian was a lifelong resident of Union County and was a 1951 graduate of Union County High School. She had worked at Georgia Boot for over twenty years and at Owenby Manufacturing and the Union County Nursing Home for several years.She loved gardening and working with her flowers. Vivian loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Vennie Stroup, Willie Manning, Belle Brown and Florence Rowe and by three brothers, Bud, Lee and R. V. Nichols. Mrs. Lance was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Lance are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gail and Woody Woodall of Jasper, GA, Vickie Lynne Lance of Blairsville, Peggy and Tommy Greene of Blairsville, one brother and sister-in-law, Frank Quince and Jean Nichols of Roswell, GA, three grandchildren, Natasha and James Templeton, Brooke and Bryan Sosensky, Brittany and Joe Jordan, three great-grandchildren, Easton, Eily and Emry Sosensky, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 21, 2010 at 3:00pm from the Harmony Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. Special music will be presented by the Harmony Grove Baptist Church. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Ray, Tim, Keith and Larry Nichols, Bill Brown, Mike Rowe and Edward Stroup. Interment will follow in the Union Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening after 6:00pm.

LATTIE LEUNA LEGG
Mrs. Lattie Leuna Legg age 86 of Fairview Church Rd. Blairsville passed away on Saturday August 21, 2010 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Legg was born on March 28, 1924 in Union County, the daughter of the late Hillard Barnes and the late Ardella Rogers Barnes. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Lattie enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, cooking, quilting and sewing, but most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Legg in 1979, three sisters, Ada Lou Tabor, Mae Green and Vandora Ross, four brothers, Loman, Ralph, Marvin and Horace Barnes. Mrs. Legg was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Legg are two daughters and one son-in-law, Evon Mason of Blairsville, Patsy and Bradley Langford of Watkinsville, GA, two sons and daughters-in-law, Evan E. and Peggy Legg of Blairsville, Emmanuel and Lisa Legg of Blairsville, two brothers, Doris Barnes of Powder Springs and Oris Barnes of Blairsville, one sister, Margaret Payne of Blairsville, six grandchildren, Dana Carver, Evan Travis Legg, Chad W. Mason, Blair Cook, Marie Legg, Keisha Roberson, three step grandchildren, Brian, Rabekah and Rachel Lilly, six great-grandchildren, Kalen Cook, Brendan Mason, Liam Legg, Micana Wooten, Ellie Cook and Kennedy Mason, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday August 23, 2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Hubert Legg and Rev. Jeremy Henderson officiating. Special music will be presented by Sammy Ensley and Hubert Legg. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Chad Mason, Evan T. Legg, Billy Payne, Craig Stuart, Jason Cook and Michael Cook. BOBBY "PETE" DARRELL KING

Mr. Bobby (Better known as Pete) Darrell King age 38 of Shepherds Way Blairsville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 22, 2010 from his home following an extended illness. Pete was born on December 20, 1971 in Union County, the son of Buddy Joe King and the late Betty Jean Cantrell King. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was a member of the National Guard. He loved hunting, fishing and horses. Pete was a loving father, son, brother, uncle and was a friend to many. Pete was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving Pete are his father and step mother, Buddy and Peggy King of Blairsville, two daughters, Alex and Ashton King of Blairsville, one brother, Douglas King of Cumming, GA, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Debra Ann and Bud Gable of Royceton, GA, Rhonda and Doug Webb of Blairsville, Amy and Vick Botts of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday August 25, 201 at 11:00am from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Ray Potts and Rev. Cotton Harris officiating. Special music will be presented by the Benny Shook Family. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Tim and Johnny Hopkins, Sammy Berrong, Clifford Gable, Josh Step, Chance and Vick Botts and Steven King. EDMOND WAYNE McHAN
Mr. Edmond Wayne McHan age 75 of Rippling Branch Lane Murphy, NC. passed away on Monday August 23, 2010 in the Mission Hospital in Ashville, NC. following a brief illness. Mr. McHan was born on Dec. 3, 1934 in Ducktown, TN., the son of the late Samuel Garland McHan and the late Lona King McHan.He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joe McHan and a sister, Maudie Hughes. Mr. McHan attended Nottley Baptist Church and was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. McHan are his loving wife of fifty six years, Opal Johnson McHan of Murphy, one son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Ramona McHan of Sterling Heights, MI., one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Ted Gerutta of Howell, MI., four sisters, Catherine Sneed of Murphy, Sara Jane Bosch of Marietta, Billie Sue Vest of Blue Ridge, Mary Lou Raper of Murphy, one brother, Frank McHan of Monroe, LA., five grandchildren, Brett and Aryn McHan, Sammantha, Kyle and Rachel Gerutta, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday August 26, 2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. James Paul officiating. Brenda Lee Lynch
Mrs. Brenda Lee Lynch age 67, of Blairsville passed away Friday, November 16, 2012 at Union General Hospital following an extended illness. She was born December 9, 1944 in Detroit, MI. Mrs. Lynch was preceded in death by her father, James Payne, daughter, Tammy Renee Lynch, step-son, Jimmy Lynch, sister, Linda Beavers, brother, David Payne, grandsons, Timothy Lynch and Daniel Lynch, granddaughter, Tammy Grace Lynch. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Lynch, JR of Blairsville, mother Doris Payne Murphy of Blairsville, son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Robin Lynch of Blairsville, step-son and daughter-in-law, Roy E. and Lisa Lynch of Blairsville, step-daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and George Passmore of Hawaii, sisters, Carol Gray and Michelle Webb both of Blairsville, brothers, Danny Payne and Johnny Payne both of Blairsville, eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Helms officiating. Music will be by Michelle Webb and Kelsey Lockaby. Pallbearers will be Jason Webb, Danny Gray, Eric Gray, Robert Gray, Thomas Passmore and Jacob Lynch. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris, J.J. Lynch and Cody Beavers. Clyta Patterson Turner
Mrs. Clyta Patterson Turner age 91, of Allison Rd, Blairsville passed away Sunday, November 18, 3012 at her home following an extended illness. She was born August 31, 1921 in Conasauga, TN to the late Lee Onzo and Bessie Smith Patterson. Clyta was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, quilting and embroidery. She was preceded in death by her husband Guy B. Turner in 32011 and six brothers, two sisters and a son-in-law.
Survivors include four children, Thomas and Jayne Turner of Waverly, TN, Charles and Rebecca Turner of Dallas, GA, Delga Cox of Blairsville, GA and Carolyn and Paul Filer of Blairsville, GA, three sisters, Aleen Turner of Newnan, GA, Frances and Gentry Woody of Morganton, GA and Marie Norton of Aurora, CO, six grandchildren, Morris Turner, Daryll Gibbs, Daniel Gibbs, Jennifer Holt, Ashley Diaz and Brandon Turner, thirteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Williams and Rev. Ray Harper officiating. Music will be by Rodney Panter and friends and Daniel Johnson. Pallbearers will be Daryll Gibbs, Daniel Gibbs, Brandon Turner, Cecil Smith, Mark Holt and Roger Turner. Ella N. Jenkins Battle
Mrs. Ella N. Jenkins Battle, age 74, of Blairsville passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 18, 2012, in Union County Nursing Home. Ella had been in declining health for several months. She was born January 14, 1938 to the late Charlie and Evia Souther Jenkins. She was owner of “Miss Ella’s Dress Shop” and “CindraElla Dress Shop” on the Square where many friends enjoyed shopping. She was a beautiful Christian who lived her faith, and was instrumental in acquiring toys for under privileged children, at Christmas, this was her passion and joy. She was preceded in death by her brother, Congressman Ed Jenkins. She was a member of the Jones Creek Church of God.
Surviving Ella is her loving husband, Tom Battle of Blairsville, son, Tim Garred of Blairsville, brothers, Charles (Bonnie) Jenkins of Blairsville, Ken Jenkins of Blairsville, sisters, Marilyn (Homer) Thomasson of Blairsville, Patti (Bobby) Chambers of Gainesville, sister-in-law, Jo Jenkins of Jasper, GA. several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terrell Jones and Rev. Danny Parris officiating. MARJORIE SULLIVAN DONALDSON McCURLEY
Mrs. Marjorie Sullivan Donaldson McCurley age 86 of Old Sullivan Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday November 20, 2012 at her home following an extended illness surrounded by her family and wonderful nurse, Kathy with Georgia Mountain Hospice. Mrs. McCurley was born on September 27, 1926 in Union County, the daughter of the late Grayson Sullivan and the late Alice Melinda Souther Sullivan. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Mrs. McCurley enjoyed walking, cooking for her family and friends, quilting, reading her Bible and loving her Lord, and working in her flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband George McCurley in 2006, her son, Johnny Donaldson, three brothers, Uary, Ray and Harold Sullivan and by two sisters, Eunice Swinson and Virginia Reynolds. Mrs. McCurley was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. McCurley are one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Virginia Donaldson of Blairsville, one sister, Louise Kelly of Blairsville, three grandchildren, Jimmy Donaldson of Lakeland, FL, Shiloh and Jorge Pino of Douglasville, GA, David and Amy Walls of Wausau, WI., nine great-grandchildren, six great – great-grandchildren, several special nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday November 28, 2012 at 1:00pm from the Choestoe Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Zollinger officiating. Flowers are accepted or if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Choestoe Baptist Church in memory of Mrs. McCurley. The family will meet with friends following the services at the church.
