JEANNE ANNE KEYWORTH

Jeanne Schroeder Keyworth, age 81, of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Mendham, NJ, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 following an extended illness. Mrs. Keyworth was born on July 2, 1929 in Elizabeth, NJ, the daughter of the late Martin Schroeder and the late Violet Vonah Schroeder. Jeanne was a 1946 graduate of Columbia High School in South Orange, NJ. She also attended Upsala College. She retired after many years as Muncipal Court Clerk in Springfield, NJ. She enjoyed golf, piano, board games, reading and painting. She was a loving mother, sister and friend to many.

Mrs. Keyworth was preceded in death by her son, Allen Robert Keyworth Jr. in 1976. Surviving Jeanne are her son, Craig, daughter-in-law, Patricia Decker-Keyworth of Atlanta, GA, and sister, Joan Schroeder of Morristown, NJ. Many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Branan Lodge. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made in memory of Mrs. Keyworth to Branan Lodge (brananlodge.org), the retirement community where she lived, in Blairsville, GA.

LUCY McKENZIE

Lucy Talley McKenzie of Murphy, NC passed away Sunday, September 19th, 2010 at the age of 71 at home with her children gathered around her. Lucy fought her battle with Leukemia for many years with strength, grace and a positive attitude that she shared every day. She was the inspiration and co-creator of the "Lucy Mac Sac" handbags for ladies and sacks for the gentlemen, filled with goodies for chemo patients, provided to Murphy Medical Center in NC and Georgia Cancer Specialist in Blue Ridge, GA. Lucy was born in Miami, Florida and was a talented Typesetter and business owner for over 30 years. She loved the NC mountains and spent a lot of time in her family home in Yancey County and eventually moved to Murphy, NC in 1998. It was here that Lucy started her new career as a Peer Support Specialist at Meridian Behavioral Health in Marble, NC. The co-workers, students and friends she made here were some of the most meaningful to her. Lucy is survived by her children Carol Lee Barbour and husband Lee, Murphy, NC; Mary Lynn Durfee and husband Jim, Blairsville, GA; Daryll James McKenzie and wife Dawn, Tucson, AZ; Ted McKenzie and wife Shannon, Calhoun, TN. Lucy’s love will live on through her grandchildren Brandon Lee Barbour, Keith James McKenzie, Kevin Matthew McKenzie, Daryll Eugene McKenzie and Jayden Rose Durfee. She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Daryll James McKenzie, Sr., and parents Ted and Margaret Talley, and siblings James Talley and Carol Talley. Lucy had wonderful friends of all faiths and we ask you to join us in a Memorial Celebration of her life at 6:00 p.m. (Visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 pm) on Thursday, September 30th at the Murphy Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1574 Old Ranger Rd., Murphy NC. Lucy wanted the "Lucy Mac Sac" to continue to bless others going through chemo, and asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to : "Lucy Mac Sac" c/o Community Bank & Trust, P.O. Box 1139, Hiawassee, GA 30546.

KENNETH EUGENE STOVER

Mr. Kenneth Eugene Stover age 72 of Towe Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday September 21, 2010 in the N. E. GA. Medical Center following a brief illness. Mr. Stover was born on Nov. 8, 1937 in Suches, GA. the son of the late Oscar Stover and the late Nora Gilreath Stover. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County and had retired from GA. Boot with over thirty six years of service. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping, gospel singing and watching all kinds of ballgames. He was everyone’s "Pee Paw". He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Mac Stover and a sister, Ruby Towe. Kenneth attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving Kenneth are his loving wife of twenty five years, Wilma Towe Stover of Blairsville, children, Larry and Kathy Stover of Blairsville, Kenny (Buck) and Bonnie Stover of Douglasville, GA, Terry and Sherrie Stover of Blairsville, Andrea and Larry Seabolt of Blairsville, Gary and Ronda Ledford of Dahlonega, Vickie and Kevin Payne of Blairsville, Marty and Mandy Ledford of Ducktown, TN., Christie and Eric Wall of Sautee Nacoochee, four sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Edward Towe of Clerment, Hazel and Gary Anderson of Lula, Olene and Lewis Dyer of Blairsville and Ruth and Dale Burke of Flowery Branch, grandchildren, Tim (Bo) and Leanne Stover, Stephen and Jessica Stover, Lacy Stover, Kayla Shuemake, Bradley and Jeremy Stover, Jeremiah, Aaron Deyton, Faith Dockery, Kayce Ledford, Whitney Ledford Garrett, Andrew Wall, Hannah Wall, Kourtney, Karlee and Kensley Payne, Rebecca, Claire and Brady Ledford, Stephanie Jones, Derek Barker and Harley Neighbours, great-grandchildren, Cooper Stover, Serenity and Grant Jones, Aubrey, Lance and Devin Barker, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday Sept. 24, 2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Young, Rev. Dwayne Patterson and Rev. Dennis Taylor officiating. Special music will be presented by the Dennis Taylor Family, Mona Groves and Victoria Youngblood. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Stephen Stover, Jeremiah and Aaron Deyton, Gary and Marty Ledford and Kevin Payne. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Young, Joey Colwell, Wade Rogers, Kenneth Deyton, Welchel Garrett and Eric Wall. Interment will follow in the Pleasant grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Union County Recreation Dept. for the Kenneth Stover Scholarship Fund in Kenneth's memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 3-9pm.

EDNA FAYE SEAL

Dr. Edna Faye Seal age 54 of Andrews died on Tuesday Sept. 21, 2010 at her home following an extended illness. Dr. Seal was born on Jan.25, 1956 in San Bernardino, CA, the daughter of Ida Mobley and the late Simon Shellnut. Dr. Seal was a physician for over twenty five years practicing family practice in Andrews, and Emergency Medicine at Murphy Medical Center, District Memorial and Cherokee Indian Hospitals. She also served as the Medical Director of Summit View Health Services in Knoxville TN. She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, sister and grandmother and friend to many. She cared greatly for her family and her patients. She was preceded in death by her father, Simon Shellnut, her adopted father, James Mobley and a sister, Rebecca Gardner. Dr. Seal was a member of the Andrews United Methodist Church, a certified lay speaker and devoted her time and energy to serving her Lord through UM Volunteers in Missions, and the Mountain Top Emmaus and Chrysalis communities .

Surviving Dr. Seal are her husband of thirty five years, Bill Seal and son David of Knoxville, TN, a foster son, Daniel Thomas of Andrews, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Debbie Mobley, James and Amy Mobley all of Knoxville, TN, one sister and brother-in-law, JoAnn and Chris Carlson of Topeka, KS, one grandchild, Emma Thomas, several nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Sept. 25, 2010 at 2:00pm at the Andrews United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steven Phillipi and Rev. Michael McDonald officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Andrews First United Methodist Church in memory of Dr. Seal. The family will meet with friends following the services.

HAZEL LEE DANIEL

Mrs. Hazel Lee Daniel age 84 of Savannah’s Way Blairsville passed away on Tuesday Feb. 12, 2013 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Daniel was born on Dec. 1, 1928 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of the late Charles William Tumlin and the late Alma Hart Tumlin. Hazel had made her home in Blairsville for the past twenty nine years, moving here from Lilburn, GA. She loved her dogs, Tuff and Teecoo and Goldie. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening. One of her greatest passions was reading and studying her Bible. She was a loving mother, grandmother and was a friend to many. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry Fetherolf who died while serving his Country in Vietnam in 1967 and also a grandson, Trevor Bango. Mrs. Daniel attended the House of Prayer Church.

Surviving Mrs. Daniel are one son, Noel Fetherolf of Blairsville, one daughter, Della Bango of Blairsville, one granddaughter, Savannah Bango of New York, her best friend of forty three years, Carol Pye of Blairsville, adopted family, Steven Pye of Blairsville and Chris Norris of Atlanta, Jacob Pye of Blairsville, Charlene Shearer of Blairsville, multiple cousins, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Friday Feb. 15, 2013 at 1:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Favorite hymns of Hazel’s will be presented for the service. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the House of Prayer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Rescue of Animals or to the Humane Society Mountain Shelter in memory of Mrs. Daniel.

Cecelia Wood

Cecelia Wood, age 62, of Holland Farm RD, Andrews passed away Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Valley View Rehab Center in Andrews. She was born February 14, 1951 in Jonesville, VA to the late William McCorkle Wood and the late Mozetta Bellany Wood. She had lived in Andrews for the past 15 coming from Asheville, NC and Del Ray Beach, FL. Cecelia was an avid shopper, and loved flowers, cats and Facebook with her friends.

Survivors include her life partner, Raymond Creasman of Andrews, sisters, Shelly and Robert Mullen of LA and Sally and Brian Pearse of Asheville, a niece and nephew.

A family gathering is planned for a later date.

Curtis Robert Caouette

Mr. Curtis Robert Caouette age 79 of Mtn. Top Drive Murphy passed away peacefully on Tuesday Feb. 5, 2013 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Caouette was born on April 9, 1933 in Minneapolis, MN. The son of the late Ernest J. Caouette and the late Ida Labonne Caouette. Curtis retired from Eastern Airline after over twenty years of service. He was a veteran of the US Air Force of the Korean War. Curtis was a handyman who could fix anything and always enjoyed helping other. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lynn Caouette, and by two sons, Mitchell and Victor Caouette. Mr. Caouette was of the Catholic faith.

Surviving Mr. Caouette are his loving wife of thirty three years, Ann Ingram Caouette of Murphy, five children, Scott (Melissa) Caouette of Ann Arbor, MI., Terrance Heath of Murphy, Sandra Youmans of Memphis, TN., Vickie and Harvey Johnson of Ball Ground, GA, Donna Osburne of Atlanta, one sister, Clare Stanley of El Paso, TX, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in memory of Mr. Caouette.

Velma Maude Lovell

Mrs. Velma Maude Lovell, age 78, of Dogwood DR, Blairsville passed away at her home on Monday, February 18, 2013 following and extended illness. She was born September 3, 1934 in Blairsville to the late Lester and Bertha Kendall Butt. She was preceded in death by, her husband, Henry Lovell in 1985, sons, Terry Brewer, Chipper Brewer and Michael Brewer, grandson, Travis Brewer, sisters, Estelle Butt and Geraldine Goolsby, brothers, Claude Butt, Sylvia Butt and Clinton Butt. Mrs. Lovell was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, Danny and Rita Butt of Blairsville, GA, Ricky and Judy Brewer of Cumming, GA and Jeff and Wilcey Brewer of Gainesville, GA, sisters, Retha Dills and Gladys Higgins both of Blairsville, GA, grandchildren, Kevin Brewer, Jamie Montgomery, Greg Brewer, Amanda Brewer, Melissa Brewer, Matthew Brewer, Terry Brewer Keith and Kelly Brewer and Tabitha Brewer, step-grandchildren, Stephanie Holmes, Jimmy Powell, Rachel and Junior Phillips and Michael Davis, great-grandchildren, Dustin Montgomery, Megan Montgomery, Chase Brewer, Lakelan Brewer, Peyton Brewer and Kaley Brewer, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Waymon Lovell officiating. Pallbearers will be Aaron Dills, Jimmy Powell, Jacob Dills, Josh Dills, Jonathan Dills and Terry Brewer. Interment will follow in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.
