Father Genaro Testa
Father Genaro Testa, age 91, of Herman Drake RD, Young Harris, GA passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Union General Hospital following an extended illness. He was born March 28, 1921 in Hartford, CT to the late Joseph and Vita Pezzulo Testa. Father Testa had lived here for the past 5 years coming here from Cape Coral, FL. He was ordained to the Priesthood in 1947. Father Testa was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Survivors include close family, friends and loved ones, Diane and Jeff Hopf of Young Harris, GA, Susan Colvard of Hiawassee, GA, Jason and Shea Hopf of Canton, GA, Jonathan Hopf of Oviedo, FL, Trey, Greyson and Rigley Hopf, other relatives and friends and a host of church family also survive.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2013 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Windsor, CT with Most Reverend Henry J. Mansel, Arachbishop of Hartford officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make donations to office of vocations at St. Thomas Seminary.

Carolyn Elizabeth Holland
Carolyn Elizabeth Holland, age 71 of Murphy Hwy, Blairsville passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at her home. She was born June 24, 1941 in Atlanta, GA to the late Hoke S. and Ina Mae Rogers Akins, and had lived in this area for the past 30 years. She was a loving mother and friend, also loved flowers.
Suvivors include her daughter, Angie Holland of Blairsville, aunt, Catherine Nicholson of Blairsville, cousins, Robert and Teresa Turner of Blairsville, Mike Akins of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends.
There will be a gathering for family and friends at Mountain View Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.

Marion Shane McClure
Mr. Marion Shane McClure, age 42, of Blue Ridge Hwy, Blairsville passed away Friday, Feburary 22, 2013 in North East Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born April 17, 1970 in Lawrenceville, GA and was a lifelong resident of Union and Towns Counties. Shane loved to collect rocks. He attended Friendship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Karlsson of Hiawassee, children, Austin McClure and Jocalyn McClure both of Lawrenceville, sister, Belinda Shook and her fiancé, Brian Childress of Young Harris, grandmother, Lois Moss of Hiawassee, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Friendship Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Abernathy and Rev. Tommy Thomas officiating. Music will be by Benny Cross, Dale and Keith Culberson. Pallbearers will be Eddie Carroll, Joe Youngblood, Danny Moss, Brian Childress, Roger Youngblood, Michael Ledford and Paul Moss. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers make memorial contributions to help defray expenses.

Mary Elizabeth Mills
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Mills, age 91, of Magnolia LN, Blairsville passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Stonehenge Assisted Living following an extended illness. She was born April 7, 1921 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Anton I. and Agnes Mary (Bartley) Sherman. She moved to this area in 1999. Mrs. Mills was a very loving mother, and loved watching TV and reading. She was of the Catholic Faith.
She was the last of 8 siblings and was survived by her son, Charles Mills of Blairsville, several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers make memorial donations to the Humane Society Mountain Shelter.

CATHERINE BAGWELL
Catherine Patricia Doyle Bagwell Born in Bay City, Michigan to the well known Doyle family, Catherine Patricia, or "Pat" as she was known, was one of the five daughters of Frederick and Mary Ellen ("Mayme") Doyle: Elizabeth Adams Dahlinger, Mary Jane Gneuhs Mooney, Marie Ellen Doyle, Pat, and Mary Winifred Olson. She graduated from St. James High School, and followed in the footsteps of her sister Mary Jane, who was a nurse. In 1948, she graduated from Mercy College in Detroit with the last class of wartime cadet nurses. A year later, she met and married Army Captain James (Jim) H. Bagwell, also from Bay City. They had four daughters: Mary Ellen Morris of West Chester PA, Cathy Rhoads of Hayesville NC, Sharon Isackson of Saginaw MI and Colleen Pappas of Ft. Lauderdale FL. Pat’s husband was stationed in Germany and when they all returned to the U.S. in 1960, Jim retired from the military with the rank of Major, and they moved to Glenside, Pennsylvania, which was his last duty station. When Jim retired from his position with United Way, they moved to Barefoot Bay, Florida in the mid 1980s. Pat and Jim lived the retirement life they always wanted. Pat was active in the community, and loved to play golf with her husband, family and friends. She was also an avid gourmet cook and gardener. She enjoyed painting, which she learned from her father, and playing her piano, which she learned from her mother. Most of all, Pat enjoyed spending time with her four daughters, eight grandchildren: Kelly Crunkleton, Timothy and Sean Morris, Brian and Michael Rhoads, Nicole Erdos and Stephanie Isackson, and Nicholas Pappas, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim in 1999 and will be interred with him in Arlington National Cemetery in June of 2012.

ROLAND WEINTRAUB
US Army
Roland Charles Weintraub passed peacefully on Wednesday morning, August 24th in Blairsville, Georgia with his loving family by his side. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Frances Weintraub, his Mother and Father, Alva and Jacob Weintraub and his brother Murray Weintraub. Roland is survived by his sister Betty Singer, his two sons Jack and Ronnie, daughter-in-laws Cheryl and Kim and loving granddaughter Amanda.Roland was born and raised in Miami, Florida. Inspired by his father at the age of six Roland developed his passion for music, which he continued throughout his adult years.
Roland left his first year of college to join the US Army in 1943. He was promoted to sergeant and radio operator for the 244th Field Artillery Unit. He participated in the invasion on Normandy Beach "D-Day" 1944. He served in the European Theatre and was transferred to the 821st Military Police where he served to the end of the war returning home in 1946. During his enlistment he received the EAMETO Campaign Medal, as well as the WWII Victory Medal. After the War Roland returned to college at the University of Miami graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1951. Soon after receiving his degree Roland married his beloved Frances and fathered two children Jack and Ronnie. He soon became an entrepreneur in the television technology field. When Roland passed he left his love for music and life behind in his legacy. His love and musical compositions will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

STACEY M. CORN
Mrs. Stacey Michelle Corn age 38 of Ham’s Old Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday Sept. 29, 2010 at her home following a brief illness. Mrs. Corn was born on Jan.17, 1972 in Hiawassee, GA, the daughter of the late Dennis Walker Garrett and the late Debra Sharon Bussell Garrett. She was preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Debra Garret and also her step mother, Barbara Garrett who passed away on Sept. 10, 2010.She was a lifelong resident of Union County. Stacey enjoyed working with flowers and being on ebay. She was a loving mother, sister and aunt. Mrs. Corn was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Corn are her husband, Curtis Corn of Blairsville, a special friend, Tim Kelly of Blairsville, daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Bradley Glass of Blairsville, son, Joshua Corn of Blairsville, daughter, Kaitlyn Kelly of Blairsville, four brothers and one sister-in-law, Ben Brown of Hiawassee, Tony Brown of Chickasha, OK., Timmy and Michelle Duckworth of Blairsville, Dale Duckworth of Winder, GA, niece, Destiny Patterson of Blairsville, nephew, Ayden Bradley of Hiawassee, uncle, Buster Bussell of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Brian Mason officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Lung Associating in Mrs. Corn’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-2pm and also following the services.

NORMAN ROYCE TELDER
Mr. Norman Royce Tedler age 80 Dragon Fly Lane Murphy, NC. formerly of Satsuma, FL, passed away on Thursday Sept. 30, 2010 in Union County from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mr. Tedler was born on May 12, 1930 in Grand Rapids, MI., the son of the late Mark Tedler and the late Marie Tedler. Norman was a member of the AOPA. He enjoyed flying and had earned his pilots license at the age of 16.He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was a friend to many. Mr. Tedler was a member of Unity of the Mountains Church.
Surviving Mr. Tedler are a longtime close friend, Betty Butler of Blairsville, three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Terry Tedler, Michael and Mary Jo Tedler all of Grand Rapids, MI., Patrick Tedler of Murphy, NC, one daughter, Diane Adkins of Leigh High Acres, FL, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 2, 2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with Minister Terry Stuart officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Unity of the Mountains Church Building Fund in Mr. Tedler’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday following the services.
