Little Collin Aubrey Lee Williams

Little Collin Aubrey Lee Williams age 1 of Airport Rd. Blairsville went to be with Jesus on Wednesday July 21, 2010 from his home following an extended illness. Collin was born on June 1, 2009 in Union County, the son of Adam Lee Williams and Candice Star Wheeler Williams. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Aubrey Lee Williams and an uncle, John Mile Williams both in 2010. Collin will truly be missed. "Mommy will love you forever". Collin loved being with his mom.

Surviving Collin are his parents, Adam and Candice Williams of Blairsville, two brothers, Jacob Witt Lee Williams and Gavin Kaine Williams, both of Blairsville, grandparents, Angelia and Tommy Matheson of Hiawassee, Minnie and Jimmy Wheeler of Blairsville, Susan Williams of Viroqua, WI., great-grandparents, Bev and Bo Crawford of Willows, CA, Kathleen and Donald Anderson of Hiawassee, several aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on from the North Mt. Zion Church of God in Hiawassee on Saturday July 24, 2010 with the Rev. Raburn Wilson officiating. The family will meet with friends on Saturday from 12-2pm at the church.

ROGER ALBERT MOINEAU

US Air Force

Mr. Roger Albert Moineau age 79 of Hwy 294 Murphy passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday July 22, 2010 following an extended illness. Mr. Moineau was born on June 23, 1931 in Worcester, MA. the son of the late Albert Moineau and the late Rose Boucher Moineau. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Moineau was a very spiritual man and his strong beliefs influenced many.

Surviving Mr. Moineau are his loving wife of fifty six years, Gail Trumbull Moineau of Murphy, one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sandee Moineau of Chesterfield, VA, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen Moineau of Erie, CO., Shelley and Carmine DeGracia of Chesterfield, VA, Suzanne Moineau and Ron Alec, Fresno, CA, one sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Frederic Irish of Silver Spring, MD., three grandchildren, Christopher and Caitlyn DeGracia and Rachel Moineau, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice in memory of Mr. Moineau.

HOMER GENE NIX

US Army WWII

Mr. Homer Gene Nix age 84 passed away peacefully on Monday July 26, 2010 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Nix was born on April 18, 1926 in Union County, the son of the late William Hamilton Nix and the late Fannie Townsend Nix. Homer was a veteran of the US Army of WWII. He was a brick mason by trade for most of his life. He was a member of the VFW and Past Commander of the American Legion. Homer was a sixty year member and Past Master of the Allegheny Lodge #114 F&AM where he was very active holding many other offices. Homer served as DDGM for five years in the Grand Lodge of Georgia. He was a member of the YAARB Temple and also the Appalachian Shrine Club, Past Patron of the Eastern Star OES # 314, and a York Rite Mason. Mr. Nix was a member and Lay Leader of Shady Grove United Methodist Church.

Surviving Mr. Nix are his loving wife of fifty nine years, Catherine Tipton Nix of Blairsville, one daughter, Linda Benge of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Pam Nix of Canton, GA, daughter-in-law, Eileen Nix of Cumming, GA, three sisters and one brother-in-law, Ruby Jewell Lance, Charlotte and Garnett Collins, Mary Lou Whitt all of Blairsville, three brothers and two sister-in-laws, John and Susie Nix, Clayton and Vernell Nix all of Blairsville and Cranford Nix of MI., four grandchildren, Lisa Soares, Felicia Woolwine, Cassandra Lingerfelt and Hilary Nix, six great-grandchildren, Brandon and Caleb Patterson, Will Woolwine, Kaleigh and Kyle Lingerfelt and Greyson Soares, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to the Shady Grove Cemetery Fund in memory of Mr. Nix

Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 29, 2010 at 11:00am from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Bob Bone and Rev. Jan Devereaux officiating. Special music will be presented by Cheryl Williams and Elizabeth Smith. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Rodney Moose, Clay McConnell, Brad McConnell, Richard Corn, Brandon Patterson, Wade Smith, Gollie Easter and Johnny Garmon. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Methodist Church Cemetery with the North GA. Honor Guard conducting military honors and the Allegheny Lodge # 114 conducting Masonic Rites. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm.

William Marvin Murray Jr.

Mr. William Marvin Murray Jr. age 93 of Chatham Drive, Blairsville, formerly of Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA, passed away peacefully on Monday July 26, 2010 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Murray was born on Feb. 2, 1917 in Holly Hill, SC, the son of the late William Marvin Murray Sr. and the late Effie Olivia Murray. He retired as Vice President of Field Auditing for Life of Georgia with over thirty years of service. He was a member of the Blairsville Lions Club and a member of Young Cane Masonic Lodge #597 F&AM where he just received his fifty year pin. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Mr. Murray was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blairsville.

Surviving Mr. Murray are his loving wife of seventy years, Byrdie Murray of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Miriam Murray of Blairsville, one brother, Charles Murray of SC, two sisters, Jeannette Clark and Caroline Shuler of SC, three grandchildren, Beth and Bruce Boylen of Atlanta, Jeff and Robin Murray of Atlanta, Jim and Marla Watson of Atlanta, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday July 28, 2010 at 3:30 pm at the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Danny Parris and Rev. Roy Bateman officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Union County Nursing Home activities fund in Mr. Murray’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-3:30pm.

MONROE JACKSON TAYLOR

Mr. Monroe Jackson Taylor age 69 of N. Timber Ridge Rd. Blairsville passed away on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Taylor was born on Sept. 6, 1939 in Fannin County, the son of the late Paul Monroe Taylor and the late Willia Mae Meers Taylor. Monroe loved farming and gardening. He was a gentle, caring and considerate person who loved his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and also two sisters, Maebell Lee and Lois Porter. Mr. Taylor was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving Mr. Taylor are one son Randy Taylor of GA, one brother and sister-in-law, David and Cathy Taylor of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday Nov. 19, 2008 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hubert Legg officiating. Special music will be presented by Hubert and Betty Legg and Paul Porter. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, William, Wendall, Tony, Edgar and Ryan Lee, Travis and Matthew Taylor and Chad Gregory. Interment will follow in the Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

CECIL (JOHN) RAY GARRETT

Mr. Cecil (Better known as John) Ray Garrett age 57 of Hedrick Rd. Blairsville formerly of Ranger, GA. passed away on Thursday May 15, 2008 following an extended illness. Mr. Garrett was born on Nov. 10, 1950 in McDonough, GA, the son of the late John Bunyon Garrett and the late Grace Louella McDaniel Garrett. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by his family and friends. Mr. Garrett was a member of First Covenant Church.

Surviving Mr. Garrett are one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Wayne Parks of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Jerome and Bambi Garrett of Cartersville, GA, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian and Clinton Newborn of Fairmount, GA, Helen and Harvey Young of White, GA, three brothers and two sister-in-laws, Edward and Debbie Garrett of Waleska, GA, Jerry and Martha Garrett of Blairsville, Larry Garrett of GA, ten grandchildren, Alisha, Ashley, Sandra, Cody, Meagan, Chris, Tyler, Chelsey, Taylor and Kendal, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday May 17, 2008 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tony Black and Rev. Chad Sisum officiating. Special music will be presented by Rev. Luther Thomas. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Travis Redford, Adam Gardner, Chris Webb, Cody Zachary, Robert Garrett and Steve Lovelady. Interment will follow in the Henderson Family Cemetery.

DELMAR Jr. TIPTON

Mr. Delmar Jr. Tipton age 70 of Pleasant Hill Rd. Blairsville passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2008 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Tipton was born on July 26, 1937 in Fannin County, GA, the son of the late Emerson D. Tipton and the late Bessie D. Roper Tipton. Delmar was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by all of his family and friends. Mr.Tipton was a member of Owl Town Church of God.

Surviving Mr. Tipton are his loving wife of forty years, Thelma Clore Tipton of Blairsville, three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Larry Seabolt of Blue Ridge, Jennie and Glenn Lambert of Charleston, SC., Sandy and Nicky Nicholson of Hiawassee, GA, two sons and daughters-in-law, Willie and Sabina Tipton of Blue Ridge, Roger and Vickie Tipton of Blairsville, two brothers and sister-in-laws, Junior and Elaine Tipton of Conyers, Earl and Margie Tipton of Covington, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Bob Queen of CA, Geneva and Gene Brown of St. Simons Island, GA, Ann and Billy Webb of Covington, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday May 20, 2008 at 2:00pm from Owltown Church of God with the Rev. Michael Anderson and Rev. Jeremy Henderson officiating. Special music was presented by, For Him. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Brandon and Terry Tipton, Michael Lovingood, Ed Everett, Mike Dillard and Larry Seabolt. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Raymond Lambert, Elton Levinson, Donnie Price and Joseph Anderson. Interment followed in the Owltown Church of God Cemetery.

BENNY FRANK BROWN

Mr. Benny Frank Brown age 58 of Bearmeat Spur Hiawassee formerly of Blairsville passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2008 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Brown was born on Oct. 15, 1949 in Union County, the son of the late William Francis Brown and the late Virginia Mashburn Brown. He was a lifelong resident of Union and Towns Counties. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Korean War. Benny loved to play the guitar and sing Country, Bluegrass and Gospel songs and music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Virginia Brown, brother, Oble Brown and a twin brother Glynny Brown. grandparents, Tom and Cora Brown, Will and Ollie Mashburn. Mr. Brown attended N. Mt. Zion Church of God.

Surviving Mr. Brown are two sons, Tony Brown of Hiawassee, "Little" Ben Brown of Hiawassee, five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Dot Garrett and Vassie Garrett both of Hiawassee, Shirley and Eugene Pope, Marie Burnette, Belvia Jean and Vernon Barnes all of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Clinton Brown of Hiawassee, Zeno and Dessie Brown of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday May 21, 2008 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Raburne Wilson and Rev. Eugene Freeman officiating. Special music was presented by Ryan Wilson. the following gentleman served as pallbearers, Bryon Davis, Scott Garrett, Billy Burnette, Johnny Barnes, Donald Teague and Rick Davis. Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Kenny Garrett, Eugene Pope, Greg Barnes and Junior Brown. Interment followed in the Shady Grove Methodist Church Cemetery with the North GA. Honor Guard conducting military honors.
