Mr. Frank Grant Gayle age 79 of Walnut Springs Rd. Blairsville passed away on Saturday May 31, 2008 at his home following a sudden illness. Mr. Gayle was born on March 7, 1931 in Jacksonville, FL, the son of the late Laurence Gayle and the late Anna Grant Gayle. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He had retired as a Pharmacist. One of his hobbies was being an avid photographer. Hwas preceded in death by his wife, Doris Pearson Gayle in 2004.Mr.Gayle was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Gayle are two sons, Howard Gayle of Campbell City, CA, Terry Gayle of Friday Harbor, WA, one brother, Laurence Gayle Jr., of Charleston, SC., one sister, Isabel Dunphy of Dahlonega, GA, all of his church family, a host of loving and caring neighbors, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to Choestoe Baptist Church in memory of Mr. Gayle.

ROBERT TEMPLE JOHNSON

Mr. Robert Temple Johnson age 64 of Crump Creek Rd. Blairsville formerly of Lucas, TX. passed away on Saturday June 7, 2008 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Johnson was born on July 14, 1943 in Dallas, TX, the son of the late Edward Johnson and the late Peggy Donald Johnson. He was a veteran of the US Navy. He had retired from IBM with over twenty five years of service and had also retired from Harley Davidson of Dallas, TX. Mr. Johnson was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Johnson are his loving wife. Barbara Griffin Johnson of Blairsville, one brother and sister-in-law, Don and Bonnie Johnson of Houston, TX, niece, Vikki and Dan Stojanovich of Jackson, CA, nephew, Eric and Debbie Johnson of Powder Springs, GA, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorial may be made to an Animal Rescue Group of your choice in memory of Mr. Johnson.

HATTIE ELIZABETH PAYNE
Mrs. Hattie Elizabeth Payne age 79 of Gum Log Rd. Blairsville passed away on Saturday June 7, 2008 in the North East GA. Medical Center following an brief illness. Mrs. Payne was born on Oct. 10, 1928 in Union County, the daughter of the late Luther Young and the late Georgia Carney Young. She retired from Georgia Boot with over twenty seven years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Payne, four children, Jackie, Jimmy, Jeanice and Susan Payne, three sisters, Fannie Duckworth, Mary Wright and Willie Murphy and also one brother, Pat Young. Mrs. Payne was a member of the Blairsville Church of Christ.
Surviving Mrs. Payne are six daughters and one son-in-law, Kathryn Duckworth and Jodie Buchanan both of Blairsville, Edith Davis of Marble, NC, Ida and Martin Davis ofClarksville, GA, Debbie Burger of Chamblee, GA, Becky Moore of Murphy, one brother and sister-in-law, Otis and Sarah Lou Young of Blairsville, sister-in-law, Opal Young of Blairsville, six grandchildren, Tabitha Payne, James Buchanan, Susan Davis, Lynn Huckabey, Marisa Crowley and Kymberlee Burger, eight grandchildren, Ashton and Morgan Davis, Jesse and Carla Payne, Kinsey Huckabey, Dawson and Dayton Crowley and Ayla Huckabey, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 10, 2008 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with Ministers, Terry Stuart and Martin Davis officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Charles Payne, Scott Davis, Larry Young, Darren Wyke, James Murphy, Butch Dockery and Randy Huckabey. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Billy Duckworth and James Buchanan. Interment will follow in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

MICHAEL LEE MAYNOR
Mr. Michael Lee Maynor age 47 of Cook Henry Rd. Morganton, GA, passed away on Monday June 9, 2008 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Maynor was born on Dec. 19, 1960 in Polk County, TN., the son of Imogene Coleman Maynor and the late Lloyd Maynor. Michael loved to hunt and fish and loved coon dogs. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Maynor in 1989.He was a loving father, son and brother. Mr. Maynor attended Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Maynor are one daughter, Heather Maynor of Morganton, mother, Imogene Maynor of Blue Ridge, one brother and sister-in-law, L. G. and Lily Maynor of Chatsworth, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Patricia and James Green of Chatsworth, Mary and Ronnie Hembree of Blue Ridge, Joyce Maynor of Chatsworth, Jeanette Deyton of Dahlonega, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 12, 2008 at 11:00am from Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Ray Harper and Dr. Tom Jordan officiating. Special music will be presented by Martha Davenport. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Johnny Cook, Larry Cook, Don Cook, Michael Green, Randy Stines and Paul Cleary. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Ruth Rogers age 88 of Blue Ridge Hwy Blairsville passed away on Friday June 13, 2008 following a brief illness. Mrs. Rogers was born on Aug. 11, 1919 in Fannin County, the daughter of the late William Elbert Rogers and the late Minnie Florence Cook Rogers. Mary Ruth loved gardening and was especially proud of growing flowers. She enjoyed cooking for her family, but most of all she enjoyed her church and the love for her Lord. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Herschel Rogers, three sisters, Edna Panter, Jewel Bragg and Thelma Rogers, two brothers, Lake and Wayne Rogers, also a son-in-law, Charles King. Mrs. Rogers was a member of Confidence Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Rogers are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Frances King of Blairsville, Jerrie and James Crawford of Riverdale, GA, June and Robert Busbee of Blairsville, eight grandchildren, Michael King, Michelle Seay, Cindy Pritchard, Anthony Crawford, Christy Wolcott, Chris Busbee, Beth Schakat and Jason Busbee, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Charlie M. Plott age 83 of Ivy Log Rd. Blairsville passed away on Friday June 13, 2008 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Plott was born on April 15, 1925 in Union County, the son of the late Clemmon Plott and the late Mary Thomas Plott. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Charlie was a true Mountain man who loved to hunt, fish and just being in the mountains. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Franklin Platt, Bill, Zack and N. V. Plott, two sisters, Vera Plott and Martha Schroeder. Mr. Plott was a member of Track Rock Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Plott are his loving wife of thirty years, Virginia Arnold Plott of Blairsville, three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Teresa Cannon of Blairsville, Chad and Judy Platt of Blairsville, Harold Plott of NY, two sisters, Jesse Collins of Blairsville, Nancy Hamn of Port Orange, FL, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Evelyn Bullard Lewis age 81 of Blairsville passed away on Friday June 13, 2008 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Lewis was born on Sept. 3, 1926 in Appling County, the daughter of the late Remus Bennett Bullard Sr. and the late Ida McKinney Bullard. She was a member of St. Simons Methodist Church and later joined the First United Methodist Church of Union County. Mrs. Lewis was a resident of St. Simons Island for 56 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie B. Lewis Sr., a brother, Rev. R. B. Bullard Jr. and a sister, Loretta Litsey.
Surviving Mrs. Lewis are a son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Ben B. Jr. and Gwenn Lewis of Blairsville, three sisters, Laura Spivey, Benez Hart and Lilly Webb all of Baxley, GA, a brother, Ronald Bullard of Baxley, two grandsons, Dusty Lewis and Matt Lewis, several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday June 18, 2008 at 11:00am from the Swain funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ben B. Lewis Jr. officiating. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Brooks Carter, Barry Branch, Michael Spivey, Jeff Bullard, Chad Bullard and Jim Swain. Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Clarence Spencer, Gwen Upchurch, Billy and Virginia Sellers, Leon and Margaret Sellers, Wayne and Helen Jones, John and Liz McDonald, Dave Sellers and Jane Strickland. Interment followed in St. Simons Island, GA. Remembrances may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Union County Family Life Center, 859 Hwy.515 Blairsville, GA.30512 in memory of Mrs. Lewis.
