Mr.Lawrence Harrison Lee age 74 of Nottley Dam Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday June 16, 2008 following an extended illness. Mr. Lee was born on March 12, 1934 in Union County, the son of the late Harley and Della Lee. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Cross, Marie Marlow and Anna Laura Jones, two brothers, Hobert and Otis Lee and also a grandson, Craig Lee. Mr. Lee was a member of Star Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Lee are three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Homer Hunter of Morganton, Norma Jean and B. L. Anderson of Blairsville, Melissa and Stevie Abercrombie of Blairsville four sons and three daughters-in-law, William and Cathy Lee of Blairsville, Wendall Lee of Blairsville, Edgar and Michelle Lee of Blairsville, Tony and Kathy Lee of Blairsville, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Ina and Clyde Payne of Blairsville, Elsie Anthony of Jasper, eighteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 18, 2008 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Waylon Lovine officiating. Special music will be presented by the Faith Singers. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Daniel Abercrombie, Dustin Lee, Ryan Lee, Kenny Payne, Steve Morris and David Taylor. Interment will follow in the Hemptown Baptist Church Cemetery.

ROBERT (ROBBY) EDWARD MOOSE
Mr. Robert Edward (Better known as Robby)Moose age 37 of Pat Colwell Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday June 17, 2008 at his home. Mr. Moose was born on Dec. 11, 1970 in Union County, the son of Garland Moose and the late Becky Collins Moose. Robby was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was employed with Arnie’s Garage for the past five years. Robby was a loving father, husband, son and brother and will be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Moose was a member of Choestoe Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Moose are his wife of ten years, Amy Lynn Roper Moose of Blairsville, two sons, Bobby Garland and Jesse Isaak Moose, two daughters, Maya Nicole and Maysa Lynn Moose all of Blairsville, father, Garland Moose of Suches, one brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Jamie Moose of Blairsville, one sister, Carrie Moose of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 19, 2008 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Zollinger officiating. Special music will be presented by Evan Hughes. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Lief and Eric Eckburg, Coy Dockery, Kevin Fincher, Justin, Fugel, Dwayne, Garth and Steven Moose. Interment will follow in the Choestoe Baptist Church Cemetery.In lieu of flowers if you wish, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.

JAMES GOODE
US Air Force WWII
Mr. James Goode of 1080 Peachtree Lane, Blairsville. Age 88 son of Grace Pugh Goode & Roy Merrill passed away June 18, 2008 following a long fight against Parkinson’s. He was born in Gastonberg Al., graduated from Murphy High School, Mobile Alabama in 1937 and on that day went in training with Waterman Steamship Co. as a cadet (workaway) for seaman, at one penny a month. He joined Army Air Corps in 1941, achieved rank of Tech Sgt. and served in China-Burma-India theater under General Chennault and his Flying Tigers. During this time, he fought as an amateur heavy weight boxer. In 1946 he left the army and married Marjorie Harkins of Orlando, Fla. He was a private detective until 1949 when he joined Orlando police department. Mr. Goode obtained a Master’s degree from Rollins College in criminal justice and was a graduate of the FBI national academy. He was appointed Chief of Police of Orlando in 1973 and retired in 1976 after serving 26 years on the Orlando Police Department. Jim and Marjorie were married 61 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Union County, Georgia. Survivors include four children: David James Goode of Orlando, Richard Lee Goode, John Gary Goode and Marcia Goode Stewart, nine grandchildren: Kristy, Melissa, Aaron, Adam, Jenna, Dustin, Matt, Ian & Andrew, and two great-grandchildren Joelle, & Ocean.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 21, 2008 at 2:00pm at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Fred Whitley officiating. Special music will be presented by Reverend Gerald Flake. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Blairsville Parkinson’s Support Group care of Paula Wilde 7340 Sandalwood Rd. Blairsville, GA. 30512 in memory of Mr. Goode.

VIOLET POSTELL PICKELSIMER
Mrs. Violet Blanche Postell Pickelsimer age 86 of Blairsville formerly of Blue Ridge passed away on Saturday June 21, 2008 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Pickelsimer was born on Feb. 20, 1922 in Lynch, KY., the daughter of the late William Arthur Postell and the late Mary Odessie Panter Postell. She owned and operated the Shady Lane Personal Care Home in Marietta in 1984-1997.She was preceded in death by her husband, Lambert Pickelsimer, a daughter, Cleta Pickelsimer, also by two sons, James and Winston Pickelsimer. Mrs. Pickelsimer was a member of the Blue Ridge Church of Christ.
Surviving Mrs. Pickelsimer are two daughters and one son-in-law, Theresa Brawley of Blairsville, Anita and Joe Halstead of Ringold, GA, four sons and daughters-in-law, Nelson and Althea Pickelsimer of Blairsville, Marvin and Regina Pickelsimer of Dallas, GA, Quinton and Debra Pickelsimer of Elko, GA, Darvin and Sherry Pickelsimer of Jasper, GA, one brother and sister-in-law, David and Pat Postell of Ducktown, TN., three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruth and Ralph Newsome of Dallas, GA, Margie Stringer of Mineral Bluff, GA, Glenda and Doyle Petty of Mineral Bluff, daughter-in-law, Frankie Pickelsimer of Blue Ridge, son-in-law, Donald Brawley of Blairsville, fourteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday June 23, 2008 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with Minister Terry Stuart officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Wes Brawley, Alan, Alex and Shawn Pickelsimer, Kenny Duckworth and Eric Davenport. Interment will follow in the Upper Wilscott Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-9pm.

VIOLA HARRIETT KLOPSTEIN
Mrs. Viola Harriett Klopstein age 94 of Five Forks Drive Murphy, NC. and also a resident of Union County Nursing Home passed away on Tuesday Sept. 1, 2009 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Klopstein was born on Oct. 20, 1914 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Rufus Hatch and the late Christine Tess Hatch. Viola was an excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook. She was known at the nursing home as the " hat lady". She was a loving mother and Grammi. Viola was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving Mrs. Klopstein are one daughter, Gloria Micheals and her companion, Rick Mishak of Murphy, NC, one son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Cheryl Klopstein of San Diego, CA, four grandchildren, Cindy Barrett/Bagon and husband Michael, Skip and Maggie Barrett, Lisa and James Crowell and Carl Klopstein, five great-grandchildren, Christine Barrett, Caitlin Barrett/Bagon, Nicole Barrett, Dylan and Ryan Crowell, many other relatives and friends also survive.

MARSHALL KIRKLAND

Mr. Marshall Kirkland age 79 of Blue Ridge Hwy Blairsville passed away on Wednesday Sept. 2, 2009 in the Kindred Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness. Mr. Kirkland was born on June 16, 1930 in Union County, the son of the late Samuel Kirkland and the late Aileen Nations Kirkland. Marshall was a veteran of the US Army of the Korean and Vietnam Wars with over twenty one years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, the North GA. Honor Guard and Dooley Masonic Lodge F&AM. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by two sons, Keith and John Kirkland and by two sisters, Mildred Ledford and Evelyn Matheson. Mr. Kirkland was a member of Youngstown Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Kirkland are his loving wife of fifty seven years, Juanita Hutchins Kirkland of Blairsville, three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gina and Franky Davidson of Blairsville, Sharon and Charles Kidd of Blairsville, Missie Kirkland of Blairsville, two brothers and sister-in-laws, Waymond and Frances Kirkland of Cartersville, Sammy and Madeline Kirkland of MI., two daughters-in-law, Lora Kirkland and Fran Kirkland both of Blairsville, five grandchildren, Kandi Collins, Casey Stuart, Kayla Plott, Drake Kirkland and Carli Kidd, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday Sept. 5, 2009 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Jonathon Hood and Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Special music will be presented by Rhonda Hood and Kelley Brewer. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Randall and Dean Kirkland, Ronnie, Kenny, Dwayne, Michael and Charles Wayne Ledford and Mike Morgan. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion, VFW and North GA. Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9pm.

WILBUR CHILCOTE

Mr. Wilbur Chilcote age 88 of Cozy Cove Rd. Blairsville and also of Naples, FL. passed away on Wednesday Sept. 2, 2009 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Chilcote was born on June 25, 1921 in Mapleton Depot, PA, the son of the late Clyde Chilcote and the late Ruth Stephie Chilcote. Wilbur was one of the founders of Amtrak for over forty one years. Before Amtrak he was with Penn Central for several years. He was known by many, especially by his wife Mary as "Mr. Amtrak". He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Chilcote. Mr. Chilcote was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville and also of North Naples Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Chilcote are his loving wife of fourteen years, Mary Parker Chilcote of Blairsville and Naples, FL, two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Larry Nelson, Linda and Harry Manning all of Baltimore, MD., six step children, Deborah and Angelo Romano of Orlando, FL, Jacalynn and Bill Lacy of Bennett, CO., Jerry G. Hooker of Greely, CO., Bradley and Patti Hooker of Greemup, IL, William and Tina Hooker of Aurora, CO., Laura and Jeff Davison of Toledo, IL, adopted child, Dottie and Bubba Butera of Cape Coral, FL, seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the North Naples Baptist Church Building fund in memory of Mr. Chilcote.

Mr. Samuel Emett Wallace age 82 of Holly Hollow Lane Wiley, GA. passed away on Wednesday Sept. 2, 2009 following a brief illness. Mr. Wallace was born on Oct. 3, 1926 in San Diego. CA, the son of the late Samuel Wallace. Mr. Wallace retired from the Metro Police Department in Washington, D.C. as a Police Officer after over twenty six years of service. He was a veteran of the US Navy of WWII. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lions Club. Mr. Wallace was a member of St. James Episcopal Church.
Surviving Mr. Wallace are his loving wife Carolyn Smith Wallace of Wiley, GA, three sons and one daughter-in-law, George Wallace of Middletown, MD., William and Toni Wallace of Ranson, W.VA, John Wallace of Fairfax, VA, one brother, Gerald Wallace of Shantilly, VA, four grandchildren, Timmothy, David, Amanda and Brooke, one great-grandchild, Rylin, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Friday Sept. 11, 2009 at 11:00am from the St. James Episcopal Church with Father Steven Hall officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the St. James Miracle Fund in memory of Mr. Wallace.
