MILLICENT ARDEN WEST
Mrs. Millicent Arden West went to sleep in Jesus on Wednesday Jan. 7, 2009 from her home following an extended illness. Mrs. West was born on Dec. 12, 1929 in Richmond, VA, the daughter of the late Herman Mitchell and the late Alice Livesay Mitchell. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mrs. West was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Murphy.
Surviving Mrs. West are her loving husband of fifty nine years, Elvin West of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, John and Monica West of Milwaukee, WI., one daughter, Jill West of Blairsville, two sisters, Jean Cullum of Tallahassee, FL, Patsy Cashion of Richmond, VA, four grandchildren, Melissa and Tiffany West, Kenneth and Jason McCraw, two great-grandchildren, Andrea and Amanda McCraw, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday Jan. 9, 2009 at 1:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Don Yanchesanson officiating. Special music will be presented by Rachel Aldrich. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Herman, Robert and Donald West, Barry Braden, George Green and Jerry Anderson. Interment will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Murphy. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 7-9pm.

RUBY NELL ABERNATHY
Mrs. Ruby Nell Abernathy age 76 of Hollow Hill Spur Blairsville passed away on Thursday Jan.8, 2009 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Abernathy was born on June 9, 1932 in Union County, the daughter of the late Walter Deyton and the late Etta Guffey Deyton. She had retired from Liberty Mutual Life Insurance Company with over fifteen years of service. After her retirement she loved to operated flea markets. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Abernathy in 2003.Mrs.Abernathy was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Abernathy are two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Johnny Collins of Dawsonville, GA, Patricia and Larry Nichols of Blairsville, two sons and one daughters-in-law, Ricky and Stephanie Abernathy of Cleveland, GA, Randy Abernathy of Cleveland, three sisters, Juanita Keith of Blairsville, Shirley Davis of Savannah, GA, Rose Blair of Savannah, one brother, Charles Deyton of Stockbridge, GA, eight grandchildren, Kayla and Kafus Abernathy, Gypsy Howard, Antilisha Adams, Shane Abernathy, Michael Etris, Kelly Downerd and Matthew Stover, eleven great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Hood and Rev. Jonathon Hood officiating. Special music will be presented by Hwy 76.The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Kafus Abernathy, Wesley Adams, Steven Adams, Jess Nichols, Michael Etris and Johnny Carroll. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Austin Adams, Curtis Robinson, Devon Robinson, Carver Nichols and Brent Smith. Interment will follow in the Chattahoochee United Methodist Church Cemetery where she will rest next to her husband, The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-9pm.

LIZZIE BETH BROWN
Mrs. Lizzie Beth Brown age 104 of Gum Log Rd. Young Harris passed away on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 in the Murphy Medical Center following a brief illness. Mrs. Brown was born on Aug. 4, 1904 in Bryson City, NC, the daughter of the late Tom Hewitt and the late Ollie Curtis Hewitt. She was a lifelong resident of this area. Lizzie was a cheerful person who loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Brown, a son, Louie Brown, a grandson, Bobby Brown Jr., son-in-law, Jack Hall and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Brown. Mrs. Brown was member of Old Brasstown Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Brown are one daughter, Mildred Hall of Young Harris, one son, Bobby Brown of Young Harris, several nieces, nephews, fourteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday Jan. 14, 2009 at 2:00pm from the Old Brasstown Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Gerald, Gary, Charles and Christopher Hall, Richie and Scotty Erwin. Interment will follow in the Old Brasstown Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5:30-9pm.

JUDY KAY ARTHUR
Mrs. Judy Kay Arthur age 52 of Ackerman Circle Hiawassee passed away on Tuesday Jan.13, 2009 in the Chatuge Regional Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Arthur was born on Dec. 31, 1956 in Detroit, MI., the daughter of Daisy Davis Yonts and the late Raymond Stewart. Judy was an Artist and was an avid poem writer. She was a loving mother, daughter and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Stewart in 2007 and her step father, Noah Lee Yonts in 2003.Mrs.Arthur was a member of Cooper Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Arthur are her mother, Daisy Yonts of Suches, five children, Amber Walker of Berea, KY., Jimmy Lee Herendon of Hiawassee, David and Jennifer Herendon of Mayberry, NC, Lewis Arthur of Blue Ridge, Tamara Arthur of Berea, KY., three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Zig Pawlak of Acworth, GA, Brenda and Robert Birdwell of Canton, MI., Maxine and James Harkins of Suches, GA, five grandchildren, Alexander, Emilee, Noah, Jathan and Taylor, aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday Jan.17, 2009 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Lou Crawford officiating. Special music will be presented by Janie and Justin Turner and Donnie Lussord. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, David and Jimmy Herendon, Lewis Arthur, Ryan Pawlak, , Melvin and Justin Turner and Brace Penny. Interment will follow in the Davis Family Cemetery in Suches. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-9pm.

RANDY WILLIAM RATLIFF Jr.
Mr. Randy William Ratliff Jr. Age 41 of Brookhaven Drive Blairsville passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2008 from a drowning accident. Mr. Ratliff was born on April 25, 1967 in Hardinsburg, KY., the son of Randy William Ratliff Sr. and Lois Arlene Triplett Ratliff. Randy loved being outdoors and enjoyed being with his family. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother and will be greatly missed by all. Mr. Ratliff was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Randy are his wife, Dawn Phillips Ratliff of KY., two children, Amanda Ratliff of Brasstown, NC, Kaylee Ratliff of KY., parents, Randy and Lois Ratliff of Blairsville, three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Darlene and Tony Masterson of Irvington, KY., Jenny and Jeff Dowell of Brandenburg, KY., Rhonda Ratliff of Atlanta, two brothers, Paul Ratliff of Atlanta, Shawn Ratliff of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday June 25, 2008 at 4:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. The family will meet with friends following the services at the funeral home.

LARRY EUGENE STIDHAM
Mr. Larry Eugene Stidham age 61 of Gordon Thomas Rd. Morganton, GA, passed away on Monday June 23, 2008 in the Peachtree Christian Hospice following an extended illness. Mr. Stidham was born on Oct. 16, 1946 in Franklin County, AL., the son of Zora Mae Kelly Stidham and the late Henry Stidham. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam war. Larry was a loving Husband, son, father and grandfather and was a friend to all who knew him He was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Stidham. Mr. Stidham was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Stidham are his loving wife of twenty four years, Marie Davis Stidham, mother, Zora Mae Kelly Stidham of Hamilton, AL., , four children, Christopher and Beth Stidham of Commerce, GA, Dana and David Parker of Gainesville, Bret and Jennifer Clark of Gainesville, Thad Clark of Hilton Island, SC., two brothers and sister-in-laws, James and Juanell Stidham of Bear Creek, AL., Charles and Jenny Stidham of Hackelburg, AL., one sister, Bobbie Sue Parker of Hamilton, AL., seven grandchildren, Leslie, Savannah and Christen Stidham, Jonathan Parker, Lanie, Natalie and Andrew Clark, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 25, 2008 at 11:00am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Luther Thomas officiating. Special music will be presented by Luther Thomas. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Scott Gibson, Todd and Jason Fettinger, Jonathan Parker, Shane and Ronnie Stidham. Interment will follow in the Coosa United Methodist Church Cemetery.

SHIRLEY GAY LYLE
Mrs. Shirley Gay Lyle age 85 of Wesley Mtn. Drive Blairsville passed away on Monday June 23, 2008 in the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home following a brief illness. Mrs. Lyle was born on Feb. 1, 1923 in Pittsburg, KS., the daughter of the late Edward Winter Gay and the late Anna Alice Elsing Gay. Shirley loved animals. She was a very creative person and enjoyed painting, making jewelry and candle making. Late in life, she started a massage therapy practice and was in business for over thirty years. Shirley had a joy for living. Mrs. Lyle was a member of the Unity Church.
Surviving Mrs. Lyle are one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Bradley Waggoner of Murphy, NC, a niece, Bobbie Sue Bagwell of Garden City, KS., a host of friends at Branan Lodge, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Valley River Humane Society of Murphy, NC. in memory of Mrs. Lyle.

CHARLES HENRY MICHAEL III
Mr. Charles Henry Michael III age 64 of Old Embers Rd. Blairsville passed away on Wednesday June 25, 2008 in St. Josephs Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Michael was born on Dec. 1, 1943 in Tularosa, NM., the son of the late Charles Henry Michael Jr. and the late Evelyn Brasher Michael. Charles retired from the Pinellas Park Fire Department after thirty two years of service. He was a member of the Elks Club, the I.A.F.F. Union and the Firefighters Breakfast Club. He loved the outdoors, playing golf, building things and jewelry making. He especially loved his grandchildren and Christmas. Charles was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Ed Michael. Mr. Michael was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Michael are his loving wife, Barbara Felzer Michael of Blairsville, six children, Charles Henry Michael IV and Sharon of Clearwater, FL, Mark and Terri Michael of Pinellas Park, FL, Lance and Alicia Michael of Clearwater, FL, John and Susie Haffner of Daytona Beach, FL, Jacki and Doug Twitty of Tampa. FL, Gina Scarpetta of Largo, FL, one sister, Michelle Dehart of Sarasota, FL, two sister-in-laws, Carol Michael of Newport Ritchie, FL, Donna Winkler of Blairsville, several cousins, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 28, 2008 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Father George Clouster officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Shands Lung Transplant Assistance Fund, PO Box 100223 Gainesville, FL.32610 in Memory of Mr. Michael.
