GORDON KEY BRYAN
Mr. Gordon Key Bryan age 99 of Blairsville, formerly of Stakville, MS, went home to be with the Lord on Monday February 27, 2006 at the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. At the time of his passing, He was living with his daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and John Yount. Dr. Bryan was born on Dec. 20, 1906 in Cleburne, TX, The son of the late Benjamin F. Bryan and the late Myrtle Young Bryan of Cleburne, TX. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bennie Hendrix and Marjorie Reddick, and also by his loving wife of seventy two years, Lake Cummings Bryan who passed away in 2002.Dr.Bryan was a member of the Phi Beta Kapa, the Phi Kappa Phi, the Lambda Chi Alpha, the Pi Sigma Alpha, the Blue Key, the Golden Triangle YMC Award, the Sloan Foundation Fellow, the Gen. Education Board Fellow, Who's Who in America, the Assc. of Retired Professor of M. S. U., and he also was Elder Emeritus of the First Presbyterian church. Dr. Bryan was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Starkville.
Surviving Dr. Bryan are one daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and John Yount of Blairsville, three Grandchildren, Carol Adams of Ft. Worth, TX, Beth Owens of Cheyenne, WY, Ginger Hamrick of Decatur, GA, three Great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday March 3, 2006 at 3:00pm from the First Presbyterian Church of Starkville, MS, with the Rev. Olin McBride and the Rev. Steve Davis officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, P. C. McLaurin, Tip Allen, Krish Bhanzali, Keith Remy, Bill Polk and Fred Blocker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Elders of the First Presbyterian church. Interment and graveside services will be held Monday at 3:00pm from the Cleburne Memorial cemetery in Cleburne, TX.

RAYMOND HARDING SPENCER
Mr. Raymond Harding Spencer age 95 of Blossom Valley Blairsville, formerly of Orlando, FL, passed away on Wednesday March 1, 2006 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Spencer was born on May 13, 1910 in Baltimore, MD., The son of the late Hervey Spencer and the late Nannie Holland Spencer. He had retired from the Baltimore B & O Railroad after several years of service. He was preceded in death by a son Bobby Spencer and his wife, Mary Ward Spencer. Mr. Spencer was a member of the Blairsville Church of the Nazarene.
Surviving Mr. Spencer are one son and daughter-in-law, Raymond A. and Grace Spencer of Floral Park, NY, two Grandchildren, Raymond H. Spencer of Portland, ME., John Spencer of Cardiff, CA, one Great-Granddaughter, Rachael Spencer, several nieces and nephews, his caregiver, Viola Rogers of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday March 4, 2006 at 2:00pm from the Blairsville Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Ivan Rexroth officiating. Special music will be presented by Doris Sourdiffe and Duane Harrell. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Orlando, FL. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to the Blairsville Church of the Nazarene in Mr. Spencer’s memory.

VINA THOMAS COOK
Mrs. Vina Thomas Cook age 97 of Trackrock Church Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday March 6, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Cook was born on Aug. 10, 1908 in Towns County, The daughter of the late Ed Thomas and the late Fannie Mae McClure Thomas. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Cook, two sons, Herbert Cook and Travis Cook, three daughters-in-law, Helen Cook, Lily Ruth Cook and Olean Cook, Five sisters, Ruby, Thelma, Pauline, Irene and Flora, and also by three brothers, John, Nathan and Harvey. Mrs. Cook was a member of the TrackRock Baptist church.
Surviving Mrs. Cook are one daughter and son-in-law, Vivian Verona and Jimmy Cook of Blairsville, three sons and two daughters-in-law, E. L. Cook of Blairsville, Eugene and Ruby Nell Cook of Andrews, NC, James and Sue Cook of Blairsville, Albert Cook of Blairsville, one sister, Era Mae Penland of Blairsville, nineteen Grandchildren twenty six Great-Grandchildren, several Great-great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday March 9, 2006 at 2:00pm from the Trackrock Baptist church with the Rev. Jerry Young and Rev. Denny Moss officiating. Special music will be presented by the Trackrock church choir. The body will lie in state at the church from 1-2pm on Thursday. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Darrell, Gerald, Loy, Barney and Troy Cook and Joe Jordan. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-9pm.

DOROTHY B. SAUER
Mrs. Dorothy B. Sauer age 98 of Wesley Mtn. Drive (Branan Lodge)Blairsville passed away on Monday March 6, 2006 in the Union County Nursing home following an extended illness. Mrs. Sauer was born on May 5, 1907 in Jacksonville, FL, The daughter of the late John E. Bigelow and the late Marion Lindley Bigelow. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Sauer Sr. She had made her home in Blairsville for the past seven years, moving here from West Palm Beach, FL. Mrs. Sauer was a member of St. Clare’s Episcopal church.
Surviving Mrs, Sauer are one son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Joan Sauer of Clayton, GA, one granddaughter, Suzanne Sauer, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial service for Mrs. Sauer will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to St. Clare’s Episcopal church in Mrs. Sauer’s memory.

JOHN VINCENT WARGO Jr.
US Army Korean War
Mr. John "Jack" Wargo Jr. age 76 of Wargo Drive Blairsville passed away on Wednesday June 25, 2008 in the Garden View Hospital in Gulfport, MS, following a sudden illness. Mr. Wargo was born on Oct. 14, 1931 in McKeesport, PA, the of the late John V. Wargo Sr. and the late Alma Schimpf Wargo. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Korean War. He retired from Gulliver Academy in Coral Gables, FL. with over twenty Five years of service. Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus and ICL at Young Harris College. Mr. Wargo was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving Mr. Wargo are his loving wife, Lillie Uhl Wargo of Blairsville, three sons and one daughter-in-law, Vincent Wargo of Blairsville, Tom Wargo of Miami, Paul and Angela Wargo of Niceville, FL, one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Richard Wright of Denver, CO., one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Barbara Wargo of Melbourne, FL. four grandchildren, John and Jacob Wargo, Robert and Maggie Wright, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 28, 2008 at 10:00am from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Monsignor James Young officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children’s Hospital, 501 St.Jude Place Memphis, TN.38105-1942 in memory of Mr. Wargo. The family will meet with friends following the services at the church.

JOHN K. DALY Sr.
US Navy WWII
Mr. John K. Daly Sr.age 83 of Lake Ridge Drive Blue Ridge passed away on Thursday June 26, 2008 in the Fannin Regional Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Daly was born on Feb. 3, 1925 in Princeton, NJ, the son on the late Joseph and Mae Daly. He retired from the Postal service in 1978 after many years of service. He was a veteran of the US Navy of WWII. John was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He loved football and watching tv. Mr. Daly was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Daly are one son and daughter-in-law, John and Pamela Daly of Blue Ridge, one sister, Marion Clausey of Princeton, NJ, two grandchildren, Crystal Flory and Chad Daly, three great-grandchildren Corey, Jaydon and Brandon Flory, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date at the W. Carolina State Veterans cemetery in Black Mtn. NC. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Lung Association in Memory of Mr. Daly.

JOHN RALPH ERICSON
Mr. John Ralph Ericson age 42 of Blairsville formerly of Lakeland, FL, passed away on Friday June 27, 2007 from injuries received from a motorcycle accident. Mr. Ericson was born on Nov. 24, 1965 in Hartford, CT., the son of Ralph Ericson and Eleanor Capetta Ericson. John was an outdoorsman and loved riding motorcycles. He also was a self taught guitarist. Mr. Ericson was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Ericson are his parents, Ralph and Eleanor Ericson of Lakeland, FL, two brothers and sister-in-laws, Eddy and Chris Ericson of Irwin, PA, Jim and Ruth Ericson of Lakeland, FL, one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Gary DaBelko of Palm Coast, FL, uncle, John Capetto of Hartford, CT., aunt, Rose Faiola of Lakeland, close friends and extended family, Steve, Sue Ellen. Kyle and Madison Morlock of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Mr. Ericson’s memory.

JERROLD JASON JENKINS
US Army Vietnam War
Mr. Jerrold Jason Jenkins age 57 of Mary’s Way Blairsville passed away peacefully on Saturday June 28, 2008 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Jenkins was born on Dec. 21, 1950 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late William Edward Jenkins and the late Florence Marie Jason Jenkins. He was a veteran of the US Army of the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Jerry’s Handyman Service. He loved NFL football. Jerrold was kind hearted and his door was always opened to anyone in need. Mr. Jenkins was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving Mr. Jenkins are his children, Christopher Rozell of FL, Linda Marie Jenkins of FL, Earl Lee Jenkins of Alaska, Tabitha Ann Jenkins of FL, Jennifer Newell of NY, Christopher John Jenkins of Alaska, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary Jenkins of Blairsville, Linda and Patrick Swayne of Lawrenceville, several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 2, 2008 at 10:00am from St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Richard Wise officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Pat Swayne, Jonathan Jenkins, Brian Morrell, Stephen Smith, George Holland and O. J. Reiss. Interment will follow in St. Clares Columbarium. Military honors will be conducted by the North GA. Honor Guard.
