EIKO BAXTER
Mrs. Eiko Baxter age 77 of Murphy Hwy Blairsville passed away peacefully on Monday June 30, 2008 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Baxter was born on Aug. 7, 1930 in Japan, the daughter of the late Tasanoro Takahasi and Hana Yonezawa Takahasi. Eiko loved, fishing, crocheting, and most of all, she loved her husband, children and grandchildren. Mrs. Baxter was of the Interdenominational faith.
Surviving Mrs. Baxter are her loving husband of fifty seven years, Phillip Baxter Sr. of Blairsville, six children, Suzan Baxter of Blairsville, Gary and Rebecca Baxter of Phoenix City, AL., William Baxter of Blairsville, Tammy and Mike Vaughn of Blairsville, Phillip Baxter of Hiawassee, Michael and Millie Baxter of Blairsville, five grandchildren, Jessie Vaughn, Katie and Haley Baxter, Krissy Carmon and Melodie Baxter, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday July 3, 2008 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Special music will be presented by Scott Lance. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mrs. Baxter. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1-2pm.

Mrs. Barbara Ann (Healy) Gosselin passed away on July 1, 2008 following an extended illness. She was born on Aug. 18, 1931 in Medford, MA.

Mr. Gearl Lee Burnett age 65 of Gracewood, GA, formerly of Blairsville passed away on Wednesday Oct. 29, 2008 following an extended illness. Mr. Burnett was born on May 23, 1943 in Union County, the son of the late Edley Burnett and the late Alvia Mahaffey Burnett. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Burnett and a sister, Brenda Sosebee.
Surviving Mr. Burnett are nine brothers and sisters, Thomas and Peggy Burnett of Blairsville, Alwaine and Lawrence Totherow of Blairsville, Franklin and Carneal Burnett of Buford, GA, Wanda Brophy of Jefferson, Norma Jean and Edward George of Stone Mtn., GA, John Richard and Barbara Burnett of Dublin, Junior and Brenda Burnett of Blairsville, Bonnie and Wayne Dills of Lawrenceville, David and Mary Burnett of Blairsville, sister-in-law, Wanda Burnett of Blairsville, brother-in-law, Randy Sosebee of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday Nov. 1, 2008 at 11:00am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Waymon Lovell and Rev. Chad Underwood officiating. Special music will be presented by Becky Rogers. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, George, Bill, Robert, Marc, Andrew and Lee Burnett, Eddie George and Wayne Dills, Jr. Interment will follow in the Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. Ruby Fisher
Mrs. Ruby Fisher age 80 of Popular Drive Blairsville passed away on Saturday July 5, 2008 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Fisher was born on March 10, 1928 in Sevierville, TN., the daughter of the late Henry Sizemore and the late Tilda Lunsford Sizemore. Mrs. Fisher was a loving mother and grandmother. Her favorite past time was shopping. Mrs. Fisher was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Fisher are one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Cecila Ann Fisher of Atlanta, two daughters and one son-in-law, Charlotte Bagwell of Atlanta, Barbara and Joel Wilson of Blairsville, one brother, Roy Sizemore of Sevierville, TN., four grandchildren, Moena Broadnax of Conyers, Davey and Lisa Childers of Conyers, Randy Curtis Fisher of Stockbridge, Jay Childers of Stockbridge, several great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mrs. Linda Rose Spiva Carlyle age 58 of Blairsville passed away on Saturday July 5, 2008 at the home of her mother following an extended illness. Mrs. Carlyle was born on Feb. 9, 1950 in Union County, the daughter of Lawanda Reece Spiva and the late Ulric Spiva. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sky Lark Howard. Mrs. Carlyle was a member of the Owltown Church of God.
Surviving Mrs. Carlyle are her loving husband of nineteen years, Billy Carlyle of Blairsville, mother, Lawanda Spiva of Blairsville, two daughters, Melonie Walton of Blairsville, Pam Evans of Blairsville, one son, Jeff Spiva of Blairsville, four brothers and three sister-in-laws, Dr. Gene and Wendy Spiva of Blairsville, Ricky Spiva of Cheyanne, WY., James and Rita Spiva of Blairsville, Jerry and Deborah Spiva of Blairsville, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Johnny Glazner of Blue Ridge, Peggy and Chuck Patrick of Brasstown, NC, Ruth and Rex Patterson of Hayesville, sixteen grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Harold Clyde Fair age 68 of Pleasant Hill Rd. Blairsville formerly of Athens, GA, passed away on Tuesday March 14, 2006 in the Union County Nursing Home following a brief illness. Mr. Fair was born on Feb. 25, 1938 in Union County, The son of the late Lloyd Fair and the late Minnie Conley Fair.He was a Veteran of the US Army. He was a native of Union County and had lived in Athens, GA. for over forty years before moving back to Blairsville. Mr. Fair was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Fair are one sister, Frances Partin of Blairsville, three brothers and sister-in-laws, Cecil and Yvonne Fair of Blairsville, Joe and Evelyn Fair of Blairsville, Tommy and Christine Fair of Athens, GA, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday March 16, 2006 at 2:00pm from the Antioch Baptist church cemetery with the Rev. B. A. Buchanan officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Antioch Baptist church cemetery fund in Mr. Fair’s memory.

Mrs. Beulah H. Huffman age 85 of Furman Gribble Rd. Hiawassee formerly of Lakeland, FL, passed away on Thursday March 16, 2006 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Huffman was born on Jan.5, 1921 in Clark County, Ohio, The daughter of the late Samuel Hicks and the late Cassie Holbrook Hicks. Mrs. Huffman was the last of twelve children. Mrs. Huffman attended the Church of God.
Surviving Mrs. Huffman are two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilda and Carl Ranberger of Hiawassee, Linda Sue and Ron Massie of Lakeland, FL, six Grandchildren, Tim Booher(T. J., Sara, Joshua and Jessica), Robert Booher, Dawn Schwab, Robert & Sche’rie), Charlene Hicks, Penny Panstangil and Frankie Panstangil, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2006 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Glenn Eller officiating. The family will meet with friends following the services at the funeral home.

Mrs. Betty B. Felzer age 86 of Old Embers Ridge Blairsville formerly of Holiday, FL, passed away on Friday March 17, 2006 at the home of her daughter following an extended illness. Mrs. Felzer was born on Feb. 20, 1920 in Toledo, OH, The daughter of the late Joseph K. Toth and the late Elizabeth Spisak Toth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manzel Felzer in 1995 and by a son, James Felzer in 2004.She was a member of the ladies Guild. Mrs.Felzer was a member of St. Vincent DePaul church in Holiday, FL. where she loved playing the organ and singing in the choir.
Surviving Mrs. Felzer are four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Charles Michael of Blairsville, Helen and Charles Boldman of Dunnellon, FL, Kathleen and Chuck Dolan of Spring Hill, FL, Ruth Ann and Michael Bode of Bonita Springs, FL, two sons, Joseph and Manzel Felzer both of Glendale, AZ., a daughter-in-law, Norene Felzer of Columus, OH, many Grandchildren, many Great-Grandchildren and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 21, 2006 at 10:00am from the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic church in Holiday, FL, with Father Robert Chabot officiating. Interment will follow in the Florida National cemetery in Bushnell, FL. The family will meet with friends at the Thomas Dobies funeral home in Holiday on Monday evening from 6-8pm.

Mrs. Christine V. Schmidt age 84 of Canterbury Trail Blairsville formerly of Winter Park, FL, passed away on Friday March 17, 2006 in the Union County Nursing home following an extended illness. Mrs. Schmidt was born on Dec. 12, 1912 in Glenville, GA, The daughter of the late James Swindell and the late Mary DeLoach Swindell. She was preceded in death by her husband. Kurt Max Schmidt Sr. in 1986, two sisters, Blanche May, Euna Mae Purvis, three brothers, Doyle, Royce and Adron Swindell. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church of Orlando, FL, and attended the Antioch Baptist church in Blairsville.
Surviving Mrs. Schmidt are one son and daughter-in-law, Kurt M. and Rebecca Schmidt of Blairsville, one sister, Mary Elaine Lloyd of Tavares, FL, two Grandchildren, Kris Schmidt of Willobee, OH, Monica Martin of Albany, GA, two Great-Grandchildren, Dallas and Austin Martin, many other relatives and friends also survive.
The family will meet with friends at the Mountain View funeral home on Sunday evening from 3-5pm.Interment will follow in the Glen Haven Memorial Park cemetery in Winter Park, FL.
