Brother and Sister-n-law: Donald E Vinson and Marlene Vinson, of Murphy, NC; Brother and Sister-n-law: Daniel Vinson and Rachel Vinson, of Murphy, NC; Sisters: Patricia Ann Vinson and Mary Louise Vinson, of Newport, VT.
"SnoJo" (as her mother called her) was born October 6, 1939 in Orlando, FL. to the late William Edgar Vinson and Chrystan B. Vinson. JoAnn graduated from William R. Boone High School in 1957.
After graduation she helped support her family by working as a switch board operator for General Telephone (she patched a call once for Dennis Weaver – which was a big thrill for her). She married in 1963.
For the next eight years her family grew by 4. She was happy to finally have children of her own. The family moved from Florida to California in 1975 due to her husband being transferred (he worked for Honeywell).
While her kids were growing up, she realized an unmet life goal and enrolled in a community college where she earned a Registered Nursing degree, with a near 4.0 GPA. She worked as a RN at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina CA for many years.
JoAnn enjoyed camping, road trips (like the Blue Ridge Parkway), and vacationing in Hawaii. In 1989 JoAnn followed her husband to Holland on a temporary work assignment. While there she traveled to many European countries such as: Germany, England, Russia, Scotland, and many others. She so enjoyed traveling and seeing new places. Her other interests were craft-making, working in her yard, and collecting recipes. However, by far her favorite pastime was going to the Disney parks with her family. Many a Christmas Eve was spent at Disneyland with her family. It was always about being with family that made her the happiest. She moved to Blairsville, GA, in 2005 with her daughter and three granddaughters to escape the big cities (she loved the trees and the country living) and to also be closer to her two brothers who both live in Murphy, NC.
JoAnn believed that nothing can ever take the place of family. Not money or anything else (her words).
She was very proud of the accomplishments of her children, which she held in high regard. They were all very dear to her heart.
When her grandchildren come along she showered them with Love and enjoyed helping take care of each of them. Of course she spoiled them just like all good Grandma’s do.
To all her children, grandchildren, family, and friends she wanted you to know that she loved you and wishes you only the best.
