Mr. Jeffery Lynn Lauver age 44 passed away on Wednesday August 22, 2012 at his home. Mr. Lauver was born on April 28, 1968 in Altoona, PA, the son of Phyllis Ann Dougherty Lauver and the late Kenneth Lauver. Jeffery loved to fish and hunt and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loving son, father, brother and grandfather. Mr. Lauver was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Lauver are his mother, Phyllis Lauver of Blairsville, two daughters, Darlene Meyers of Indiana, Lindsey Franklin of Millvale, PA, one sister and brother-in-law, April and Gabino Jimenez of Blairsville, two brothers, Kenneth Lauver Jr. of Blairsville, Donnie Lauver of Woodstock, VA, three grandchildren, Konner Franklin, Angel and Brittany Gochenour, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Diabetes Foundation in memory of Jeffery.

LARRY "JOE" SOUTHERLAND
Mr. Larry (Better Known as Joe) Southerland age 55 of Crescent Rd. Blairsville passed away on Thursday Aug. 23, 2012 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Southerland was born on June 28, 1957 in Hiawassee, GA, the son of the late Grapelle Brown and J.P. Southerland. Joe was a lifelong resident of Union County. He always enjoyed being outdoors. He was a loving son, father, brother and grandfather. Joe was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Southerland are three children, Joanna and Bryan Martin of Dahlonega, Stacye Bishop of Marietta, Michael Gardner of Canton, father, J.P. Southerland and step mother, Beulah Davis of Blairsville, four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jim and Jackie Southerland of Marietta, GA, Larry and Glenda Davis of Blairsville, Michael and Tina Davis of Dahlonega, Ben Hope of Blairsville, one sister, Glenda Jones of Blairsville, seven grandchildren, Braxton, Hunter, Payton and Summer Martin, Brook Allen, Brianna Noel and Aaron Cox, several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announce. Interment will follow in the Owltown Church of God Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made help defray expenses.

WILLIAM ROCCO SMITH

Mr. William Rocco Smith age 76 of Hoover Rd. Blairsville passed away on Thursday Aug. 23, 2012 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mr. Smith was born on July 22, 1936 in Unionville, NY, the son of the late Howard Eber Smith and the late Theresa Petito Smith. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the US Army of the Korean War. He was a loving father, brother and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family, which was his life. He loved watching TV, eating and living life to its fullest. He was preceded in death by his wife, Prudence Martin Smith in 1985, a son, Rocco William Smith in 2001, two brothers, Howard and Tommy Smith and one sister, Lorraine Olah. Mr. Smith was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Smith are two daughters, Toni Wasko of Blairsville, Melanie Rich of Blairsville, one son, Billy Smith of CA, seven brothers, Robert, George, John, Jim, Donald, Danny and David Smith, three sisters, Teresa Labado, Ann Brussells, Joan Witkowski, grandchildren, Kaley, Mikayla, Matthew, Lauren and Jordan, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday August 31, 2012 at 7:00pm from Brasstown Valley Resort. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice of Hiawassee in Mr. Smith’s memory.

VERNON MIRACLE

Mr. Vernon Ellsworth Miracle age 72 of Tipton Springs Rd. Morganton, GA. passed away on Wednesday Nov. 25, 2009 in the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga following a brief illness. Mr. Miracle was born on July 5, 1937 in Stafford, OH, the son of the late Ira Miracle and the late Nola Pearl Busch Miracle. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a loving father, brother and grandfather. Mr. Miracle was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Blue Ridge.
Surviving Mr. Miracle are one daughter, Deborah Miracle of Cedar Bluff, AL., one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sheila Miracle of Dalton, one sister, Betty Hartshorn of Ridgecrest, NC, two grandchildren, Justin and Noah Miracle, many other other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Blue Ridge in memory of Mr. Miracle.

Joseph (Joe) Cortez Stubblefield

Mr. Joseph (Joe) Cortez Stubblefield age 83 of Mulky Gap Rd. Blairsville passed away on Thursday Nov. 26, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Stubblefield was born on June 3, 1926 in Fayetteville, AR, the son of the late Loren Stubblefield and the late Aubrey McNabb Stubblefield. Joe was a veteran of the US Army of WWII. He enjoyed riding horses, motorcycles and farming. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Allegheny Masonic Lodge #114 F&AM. Mr. Stubblefield was a member of New Union Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Stubblefield are his loving wife of fifty nine years, Kathleen Garvin Stubblefield of Blairsville, three sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Stephanie Stubblefield of Blairsville, Jon and Kathy Stubblefield of Blairsville, Joe and Barbara Stubblefield of Potomac, MD., one daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and John Hamilton of Gillsville, GA, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Rev. Clifford Palmer of Rogers, AK., Veda and Allen Kinyon of Centerton, AR, nine grandchildren, Brad, Josh, Katie, Emily, Kristen, Philip, Jordan, Mitch and Maggie, one great-grandchild, Reese, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 at 2:30pm from the New Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifford Palmer and Rev. Harrison Bradley officiating. Special music will be presented by the New Union Baptist Church and the House of Prayer Church Choir’s. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Troy Phillips, Curtis Young, Jimmy McClure, Pat Phillips, Ron Bradburn and Vince Frusciante. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brad and Josh Hamilton, Philip and Mitch Stubblefield. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6-9pm.

ANGELINE SOUTHWICK
Mrs. Angeline M. Southwick age 96 of Skeenah Gap Rd. Blairsville passed away on Saturday Nov. 28, 2009 in the Clay County Care Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Southwick was born on June 16, 1913 in Pawtucket, RI., the daughter of the late Louis Joseph Beaulieu and the late Georgianna LePage Beaulieu. Angeline was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always helping others who were in need. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Ernest Beaulieu, one sister, Blanch Beaulieu, two sons, Carl and Paul Southwick, one daughter, Reti Roy and by her husband, Henry Southwick. Mrs. Southwick was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mrs. Southwick are two daughters and sons-in-law, Norine and Harold Helstrom of Suches, Doris and Harold Gardner of Canterbury, CT., eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday Dec, 2, 2009 at 11:00am from the New Life Family Church with the Rev. Jeff Lovell officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Clay County Care Center, 86 Valley Hide away Drive Hayesville, NC.28904 in memory of Mrs. Southwick. The family will meet with friends following the services at the church of Wednesday.

CLAXTON DEWEY TOWNSEND
Mr. Claxton Dewey Townsend age 64 of Owltown Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday April 6, 2009 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Townsend was born on Dec. 16, 1944 in Union County, the son of the late James Dillard Townsend and the late Carrie Reese Townsend. Claxton was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. He was a brick mason by trade for many years. He was preceded in death by tow brothers, Herbert and Wayne Townsend, two sisters, Barbara Dalton and Gwendolen Virginia Townsend. Claxton was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.
Surviving Mr. Townsend are his loving wife of thirty two years, Nancy Whitt Townsend of Blairsville, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Keith and Laura Townsend Rosser of Alpharetta, C. J. Townsend of Blairsville, one daughter and son-in-law, Nichole and Chris Churchill of Blairsville, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Katie Cooper of Blairsville, Maxine and Louie Hughes of Young Harris, one brother, Denny Townsend of Woodstock, three grandchildren, Emily, Davis and Thomas Rosser, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Thursday April 9, 2009 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev. Bob Bone officiating. Special music was presented by John Nix and Ken Young. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, George Wilson, Michael Whitmire, Ricky Sullivan, Dustin Townsend, Mickey Ensley and Bobby Dalton. Interment followed in the Shady Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.

JOSEPH WILLIAM MACKEY

Joseph W. Mackey age 70, of Murphy, North Carolina and formerly long time resident of Port Jervis, NY passed away peacefully with his wife Lynn and his little dog "Sweetie" by his side on Saturday April 11, 2009 at The Murphy Medical Ctr., Murphy, N.C.. He was born in New York City, NY. on January 29, 1939, the son of the late Joseph Mackey and Mabel Mackechnie Mackey Fox, who survives. Joe was retired from the New York State Troopers at Middletown, NY, as a law enforcement officer and also a diver. He was a veteran of the US Army with the 101st Airborne Division, as a paratrooper, during the Korean War. He married Lynn Fedorka Mackey who survives at home, he is also survived by his mother, Mabel Mackey Fox, of Port Jervis, , 2 sons, Joseph Mackey of Tampa, Fla. and Jeffrey Mackey of Milford, Pa., his brother Robert Mackey of Port Jervis, his grandson, Chad, his aunt and uncle Russell and Peggy Mackechnie and several nieces and nephews.
A family statement read " Joe loved riding his motorcycle, boating and spending time with his wife and pets"
Graveside services will be announced at a later date and will be held at the Glen Spey Cemetery, Glen Spey, NY. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr.Mackey.
