Flora Nelle Price
Mrs. Flora Nelle Nicholson (Nick), 86, died Easter morning, April 12, in her Blairsville home. Born Thanksgiving Day, November 30, 1922, she was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. James M. Nicholson; her siblings, Frank, Barbara Ruth, and George; her husband, Thomas Edward Price; and son, Leon Price.
A Union County resident for most of her life and salutatorian of Union County High School, Mrs. Price was born in Harrogat, Tennessee, graduating from Carson-Newman College in 1943.The majority of her vocational life was spent at Life of Georgia where she was employed as the company’s first traveling cashier, working as quality control over the North and Southeastern offices. Later, after marrying Edd Price in 1963, she worked at Union County Hardware and as bookkeeper to several local mercantile businesses. Later, with the help of family, she opened her home-based craft store, Handcrafts by Price, where she sold a variety of original hand-crafted items. She also wrote and published works of poetry and is featured in Barbara R. Sampson’s, her sister’s, chapbook published in 2000 with her poem entitled" Homecoming" with the poignant ending line of"…That you have come back safe again is gift enough for me."
Nick, as she is lovingly remembered, is survived by her nieces, Barbara Freeman and Sylvia Sampson-Haney; daughter, Peggy Price Deyton; son- in-law, Don Deyton; daughter-in-law, Pat Price; grandchildren, Elisa Black, Christopher Price, Cara Varnell, and Kristen Waters; nieces and nephews, Wes Freeman, Rhonda Kirkland, Ashley Haney, Jarrod Freeman, and Ryan Freeman; and six great-grandchildren, Alan Black, Natalie Varnell, Olivia Varnell, Sophia Varnell, Eli Waters, and Nathan Waters; and other family and friends.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, April 18, at 1 pm at the Mountain View Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday from noon to 1 pm at the funeral home. Flowers are accepted; or, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union County Humane Society’s Mountain Shelter in her memory.

MARY LILLIAN BOURBEAU
Mrs. Mary Lillian Bourbeau age 85 of Hidden Pine Trail Blairsville formerly of Randolph, MA. passed away on Tuesday April 15, 2009 following an extended illness. Mrs. Bourbeau was born on May 4, 1923 in Ludlow, MA. the daughter of the late Stephen Bordon and the late Helena Lavoi Bordon. Mary’s hobbies were knitting, gardening and walking. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great and also great-great-grandmother. Mrs. Bourbeau was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Surviving Mrs. Bourbeau are her loving husband of sixty six years, Francis James Bourbeau of Blairsville, three sons and daughters-in-law, Francis and Lucille Bourbeau of Midway, MA, Norman and Ellen Bourbeau of Blairsville, Stephen and Johnnie Bourbeau of Palmetto, FL, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Barbara Duddy of Shetz, TX, Shirley and Al Hutching of San Antonio, TX, seven grandchildren, Michael and Kim Bourbeau, Lisa Bourbeau, Paul and Brandy Bourbeau, Michele and Jim Runyan, Brien, James and Alicia Bourbeau, Six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday April 17, 2009 at 4:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with deacon Paul Dietz officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice of Hiawassee in memory of Mrs. Bourbeau. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6-8pm.

STEPHEN BRANNON HARPER
Mr. Stephen Brannon Harper age 52 of Marie Lane Blairsville passed away on Thursday Sept. 11, 2008 at his home. Mr. Harper was born on June 17, 1956 in Hollywood, FL, the son of John Harper and June Denkel Harper. He had owned and operated Smokey Mtn. Pizza. He was a loving father and son. He enjoyed sports and fishing. At the time of his death he was employed by Wimpey Poultry Company. Mr. Harper was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Surviving Mr. Harper are his loving children, one son Stephen Paul Harper of Blairsville, one daughter, Stephanie Harper of Blairsville, mother and step father, June and Robert Paine of Young Harris, father, John Harper of Jacksonville, FL, two sisters, Karen Harper of Jacksonville, FL, Elizabeth Harper of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, several aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Monday Sept. 15, 2008 at 11:00am from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Larry Casey officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in memory of Mr. Harper. The family will meet with friends following the services.

PAULETTE CELESTE HARPER
Mrs. Paulette Celeste Harper age 46 of Marie Lane Blairsville passed away on Thursday Sept. 11, 2008 at her home. Mrs. Harper was born on July 28, 1962 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Dominick Conte and Ann Distefano Conte. She had owned and operated Smokey Mtn. Pizza in Blairsville. "For our beloved daughter who left us much too soon, who was a vibrant mother and daughter". She was very active in her church. Mrs. Harper was a member of the House of Prayer Church.
Surviving Mrs. Harper are her loving children, one son, Stephen Paul Harper of Blairsville, one daughter, Stephanie Harper of Blairsville, father and mother, Dominick and Ann Conte of Highland Beach, FL, one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Lynn Conte of Winter Park, FL, one sister, Stephanie ImBriale of Boca Raton, FL, many other relatives, friends and all of her church family at the House of Prayer also survive.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008 following worship services at the House of Prayer Church with Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. A funeral will be held on Wednesday Sept. 17, 2008 at 100:00am from the Babione Funeral Home Chapel in Boca Raton, FL. A visitation will be held there on Tuesday evening from 2-4 and 7-9pm.Interment will follow in the Boca Raton Mausoleum.

PAMELA SUE ANDERSON
Mrs. Pamela Sue Tate Anderson age 44 of Shoe Factory Rd. Blairsville passed away on Friday Sept. 12, 2008 at her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Anderson was born on Feb. 19, 1964 in Union County, the daughter of Jewell Tate Sr. and Christine Potts Tate. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. She loved all of her family and also her four dogs, Trixie, Pepper, Bug and George. Mrs. Anderson was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Anderson are loving husband of nine years, Stephen Anderson of Blairsville, one son, Timothy S, Tate of Blairsville, mother, Christine Tate of Blairsville, father, Jewell Tate Sr. of TX, one sister, Shelia Garland of Athens, GA, one brother. Jewell Tate Jr. of Athens, father and mother-in-law, Leroy and Sarah Anderson of Blairsville, Sister-in-laws, Penny Warren of Winder, Pam Guthrie of Blairsville, several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday Sept. 15, 2008 at 4:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Rhoten, Rev. Marvin Brown and Doug Loyd officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Lamar Dyer, Aaron Groves, Kevin Payne, Nathaniel Stepp, Johnny Thomas, Cory Thomas, John Guthrie and Doug Loyd. Serving As honorary Pallbearers will be Bo Stover, Glenn Loyd and Andy Loyd. Interment will follow in the Victory Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Earl Eugene Cox age 86 of Mountain Top View Young Harris passed away on Monday Sept. 15, 2008 in the Union County Nursing Home following a brief illness. Mr. Cox was born on Feb. 4, 1922 in Parkersburg, W. VA, the son of the late Carl Cox and the late Ethel DeVaugh Cox. He was a veteran of the US Navy of WWII. He was a carpenter by trade and was a member of the Carpenters Local #2332672 of Cleveland, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife of forty nine years, Vivian Hitchcock who passed away in Jan. of 2001.Mr.Cox was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving Mr. Cox are two sisters, Amy Bookover of Leesburg, FL, Luranna Weiser of Parkersburg, VA, one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Faye Cox of Parkersburg, VA, niece and nephew, Marilyn and Tom Jenkins of Blairsville, several other nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday Sept. 17, 2008 at 11:00am from the Meadow View Cemetery with Dr. Phillip Meeks officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Union County Animal Shelter in memory of Mr. Cox.

WALTER MERTON SMITH

Mr. Walter Merton Smith age 76 of Harbor Lane Blairsville passed away on Friday June 9, 2006 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Smith was born on Aug. 26, 1929 in Erie, PA, The son of the late Roland Smith and the late Maude Faulkner Smith. He had retired from the Valley National Bank of Tucson, AZ. after twenty eight years of service. He was a Veteran of the US Navy of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Alan Smith in 1979. Mr.Smith was a member of the Shady Grove Methodist Church.
Surviving Mr. Smith are his loving wife of fifty six years, Joyce Martin Smith of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nancy Smith of S.E.PA, one sister, Oleta Zaczyk of Erie, PA, three grandchildren, Christian, Alexander and Jack Smith, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 13, 2006 at 11:00am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bob Bone officiating. Special music will be presented by by Jerry Taylor. Interment will follow in the Shady Grove Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers if you wish, The family requests that memorials may be made to Regency Hospice in Mr. Smith’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10-11 am prior to the services.

CHRISTOPHER BROWNLOW COBB
Mr. Christopher Cobb age 46 of John Smith Rd. Blairsville passed away on Saturday June 10, 2006 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Cobb was born on Dec. 4, 1959 in Murphy, NC, the son of Royna Mae Coe Cobb and the late Robert Ty Cobb. He was a lifelong resident of Union County and had graduated from Union County High School in 1977. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and served on the Aircraft Carrier USS Constallation. Mr. Cobb was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving Mr. Cobb are his mother, Royna Mae Cobb of Blairsville, two brothers, Robert Ty Cobb of Blairsville and John Roy Cobb of Blairsville, aunt, Juanita Hudson of CA, uncles, Johnny Cobb and George Coe, both of CA, nephews, Robert Ty Cobb III, Richard Cobb and Johnathon Cobb all of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday June 13, 2006 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Robert Ty Cobb III, Richard Cobb, Johnathon Cobb, Paul Thompson, and Al Garnto. Interment will follow in the Bethany Baptist Church cemetery.
