Mr. Aubrey Wallace Blackburn, age 81, of Frost Dr., Marietta passed away, Friday, April 26, 2013 at his home following an extended illness. He was born October 4, 1931 in Dekalb, County to the late Charlie D. and Myrtice Lloyd Blackburn. Aubrey was preceded in death by brothers, Harold and Edward Blackburn and sister, Irene Betenbaugh. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Blackburn of Marietta, daughter, Judy Blackburn Everett of Blairsville, son, David Blackburn and his wife Susie of Kentucky, step-daughter, Leighann Cantrell and Buddy Brown of Adairsville, step-son, Scott Cantrell of Cuming, granddaughters, Jennifer Smith and her husband Todd, Danielle Moorman and her husband Jarod, step-grandchildren, Bradley Brown, Jesse Cantrell and Brittany Cantrell, great-grandchildren, Jessica Smith, T.J. Smith, Brian Smith, Liam Smith, Autumn Moorman and Alyssa Moorman, special children, Vicki Rucker Hilton, Tony Rucker and Mike Rucker.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 P.M. Saturday May 4, 2013 at Westside Church in Marietta, GA.

STEVEN HOWARD COX
US Air Force Vietnam
Mr. Steven Howard Cox age 64 of Bowers Circle Blairsville passed away on Monday July 12, 2010 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Cox was born on Sept. 7, 1945 in New Port News, VA, the son of Willie Mae Moore Cox and the late Charlie Hampton Cox. Steve was a 1965 graduate of Greene Central High School in Snow Hill, NC. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and had retired from Delta Airlines in 1997 with over twenty seven years of service. Steve and his wife, Delga sang gospel music all over the tri state area. He loved people and will be missed by his many friends. Mr. Cox was a member of Saints Delight Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Cox are his loving wife of twenty three years, Delga Turner Cox of Blairsville, mother and step father, Willie Mae and James (Bud) Wooten of Snow Hill, NC, one brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Joyce Cox of Lorida, FL, one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Harold Sutton of Snow Hill, NC, his adopted grandchildren, Brianna, Damon, Lyndsey, Haley and Dalton Gibbs, a host of cousins, niece, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 15, 2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Carl Morrow and Rev. Aud Brown officiating. Special music will be presented by Looking Up and Sandy Payton. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Daryll and Daniel Gibbs, Brandon Turner, Louis Mckinney, Roger Turner and Cecil Smith. Interment will follow in the Laurel Hills Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the North GA. Honor Guard. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-9pm.

Judson Lee Paterson
Mr. Judson Lee Paterson, age 64, of Track Rock Branch Lane, Blairsville passed away April 25, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta following an extended illness. He was born February 10, 2013 in Bartow, FL to the late Kenneth and Martha Duke Paterson. He had lived here for several years coming here from Jacksonville, FL. Jud was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Paterson.
Survivors include special friends, Glen and Marsha Adams and their children Louisa and Christy of Blairsville and Cumming.
No services are planned.

Gerald Lee Watkins
Mr. Gerald Lee Watkins, age 63, of State Hwy. 325, Blairsville passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at Union General Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Hiawassee, GA on February 16, 1950 to the late Clarence and Pauline Poteete Watkins. Gerald was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved working on cars, and his Harley. Gerald was employed with Byers Well Drilling at the time of his death. He was preceded by a sister, Louise Watkins Odom. Gerald was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Watkins of Blairsville, sons, Tommy Watkins and his wife Shawnda of Blairsville and Tony Watkins of Blairsville, grandchildren, Ashley, Amber and Hailey, cousin David Wilson of Locust Grove, GA.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Souther, Rev. Clayton Reeves and Rev. Max Pittman officiating. Music will be by Tammy and Brad Kaylor. Pallbearers will be Lee Beaver, Rodney Beaver, John McClure, Chris Hughes, Glen Davenport and David Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be, David Taylor, John Sparrow, Kendel Foster, Hubert Beaver, Kent Davenport, Gerald Potts, Wallace Poteete and Kenny Hughes. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers make memorial contributions to help defray expenses. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.

Mrs. Patricia Anne Smith Vanzura, of Blairsville, Ga., passed away after a lengthy illness at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, GA on September 14, 2012. She was born on the 18th of March 1944 in Malden, Massachusetts. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Carl Wayne Vanzura, her Father, Richard R. Smith, and her Mother, Doris Howe Smith.
She is survived by her two children, Jon Jeffrey (wife Jessica, expecting grandchild # 6, Dylan), of Blairsville, GA and Daniel Wayne (wife Kristen), of Longwood, FL, 5 Grandchildren, Nicole, Justin, Kai, Luke, and Grayson, (4) Brothers, Mike (GA), Daniel (TN), Steve (GA) and Greg (FL), (6) Sisters, Betty Senger (AL), Peggy Monfort (OR), Kathy Burke (GA), Sister Mary Joan Smith (PA), Nita Cadden (FL), and Julie Roach (FL).
Patti attended All Souls Parochial School in Sanford, FL, and graduated from Seminole High School, Class of 62, in Sanford, FL. Patti was retired disabled and was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Blairsville GA.
Services will be held Thursday the 20th of September 2012 at 1:00 pm at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church located at 2839 Young Harris Highway, Blairsville, GA. 30512.

CHARLES BATES
Mr. Charles Francis Bates Sr., age 64 of Woodlake Circle, Young Harris passed away at his residence September 14, 2012 following an extended illness. He was born March 23, 1948 in Boston, MA. to the late Charles and Florence Bates. He was a Dr of pharmacy. Mr. Bates moved to this area 14 years ago from Fort Washington, MD. Mr. Bates was of the Jehovah’s Witness Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Bates of the home, sons, Charles F. Bates Jr. of Fairburn, GA, Matthew Levi (Adrienne) Bates of Crofton, MD. And Joel Andrew (Nickeesha) Bates of Powder Springs, GA, brother, Kenneth Bates of Boston, MA, three grandchildren, Jasmine A. Bates, Joseph A.X. Bates and Jenae A. Bates, and one great-grandchild Caleb M. Crowley.
Memorial services will be held at Sunday, September 16, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hiawassee with Peter Longdyke officiating. Eulogies will be given by the sons. A Poem will be read by Joseph Bates. The family will receive friends Sunday following the service at the Young Harris Community Center at the Park. In lieu of flowers, make memorials to the a Breast Cancer Association of Choice.

Don Schaub
Mr. Don Schaub, age 82, of Eagles View Circle, Hayesville, NC and Naples, FL passed away at Union General Hospital on September 14, 2012 following an extended illness. He was born Sept. 28, 1929 in Indianapolis, IN to the late William Frederick and Barbara Wooters Shuab. He was a US Army Veteran. Don had lived here for the past 12 years spending the summers here and winters in Naples. He was a good person and was of the Methodist Faith.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Kathryn Schaub of the home, children, William and Johanna Schaub of Indianapolis, IN, Lisa and Gary Dean of Louisville, KY, John and Marsha Schaub of Indianapolis, IN, grandchildren, Kristy Effinger, Scott, Nicholas and Angila Schaub, great-grandchildren, Derden, Logan, Jackson and Liam.

Margie Best Allendorf
Margie Best Allendorf, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 8, 2012 after suffering complications from a Bone Marrow Transplant.
Mrs. Allendorf was born in Macon, Georgia to the late Raymond (Buck) and Marjorie Best. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald (Jerry) Vickers. Margie was retired from C&S National Bank as a Vice President and was an active member in the community in Blairsville, where she was a member of the Hospital Auxillary at Union General Hospital until her illness no longer allowed it. She has lived most of her life in Macon, GA and currently lived in Blairsville, GA. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. The loves in her life were her family, square dancing, making quilts and giving to others. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Margie was a member of First Baptist Church of Blairsville where she was also a member of The Seekers Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her loving husband of nineteen years, Albert H. Allendorf of Blairsville, three children, Vicki (Bryan) Nelson of Lizella, GA, Angela (Mark) Vickers of Goochland, VA, Chris (Kristin) Vickers of Loma, CO, grandchildren, Calen and Sage Vickers of Loma, CO and sister-in-law, Nadine Powell of St. Simons Island, GA.
Memorial services will be held September 27, 2012 at 6:00 at the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Crowe officiating. William Daniel “Dan” Creamer
William Daniel “Dan” Creamer, age 61, of Nottley Woods RD, Blairsville passed away September 16, 2012 in Union General Hospital. He was born November 10, 1950 in Macon, GA to the late William F. and Betty Hall Creamer. He had lived in this area for thirteen years coming from Cocoa, FL. Dan was a US Army Vietnam Veteran, and was a Tail Gunner with the 101st Airborne Division and received the High Marksman Award. Though he had no children of his own, he was loved by all kids. He was an excellent welder, and a good craftsman. Dan was a really kind and generous man. Dan was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Creamer in 2001. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include sisters, Lisa Lilly-Legg and husband Emanuel Legg of Blairsville, Patricia and Russell Schinck of Blue Ridge, sister-in-law, Cheryl Creamer of Morganton, nieces and nephews, Brian Lilly, Rabekah Anderson, Rachel Lilly, Geoffrey Creamer, Timothy and Jonathan Ronsisvalle, many aunts uncles and cousins.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions be made to Mountain View Funeral Home to help defray cremation cost.
