CHARLES EDWARD ROGERS
Mr. Charles Edward Rogers age 80 of Hawks Nest Rd. Blairsville passed away on Friday October 12, 2012 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Rogers was born on March 12, 1931 in Cherry Log, GA, the son of the late Dewey Rogers and the late Jewell Sisson Rogers. He was a veteran of the US Army. Charles loved woodworking, gardening and was a devout church goer. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Preceding him in death are a son, Gary Lee Rogers in 1980, two sisters, Bonnie Hilton and Mildred Lingo, two brothers, Rev. J.D. Rogers and Rev. Ralph Rogers. He was a member and Deacon at Rock Creek Baptist Church since 1962.
Surviving Mr. Rogers are his loving wife of sixty one years, Evelyn Dalrymple Rogers of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Sharon Rogers of Ellijay, GA, Glenda and James Gilreath of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister-in-law, Clint and Clara Rogers of Blue Ridge, Rev. C. B. Rogers of Canton, GA, six sisters, Edna Jackson of Marietta, Ellen Moore of Smyrna, GA, Gertrude and Jerry Galman of Dalton, Barbara and Jimmy McVey of Ellijay, Betty and Tom Chastain of Cherry Log, Judy and Merle Beaver of Ellijay, two grandchildren, Abby and Derek Jackson, Greg and Beverly Rogers, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Adam Fleming and Rev. Tony Gilbert officiating. Special music will be presented by The Moss Family. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Derek Jackson, Charles Hughes, Dwayne Davenport, Charles Young, William Cantrell and Stanley Dockery. Interment will follow in the Meadow View Cemetery. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 5-9pm.

JOHN WALTER SKWIRA Jr.
Mr. John Walter Skwira Jr. Age 57 of John Smith Rd.East Blairsville formerly of Spring Hill, FL. passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2010 in the N. E. GA. Medical Center in Gainesville following a brief illness. Mr. Skwira was born on Dec. 28, 1952 in South Amboy, NJ, the son of the late John Walter Skwira and the late Blanche Dodge Skwira. "The most lovable man with a boyish figure"…..John was a metal fabricator by trade. His favorite past time was his Harley Davidson which he loved to ride, especially bike week. He loved spending time with his many friends and family. He lived life to the fullest. John was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. John was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving John are his loving wife of twenty two years, Lynn Hawthorne Skwira of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Lisa Skwira III of Clementon, NJ, one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Anthony Comunale of Old Bridge, NJ, one step son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jennifer Ordonez, one step daughter, Carrie Ordonez all of Waretown, NJ, two sisters, Blanche and Jo Ann Skwira both of Blairsville, nine grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, Patrick, Brody, Cara, Joey, Conner, Emily and Elayna, several nieces, nepews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in New Jersey. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Union General Hospital Auxiliary in John’s memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4-5pm.

MARY VERNOY
Mrs. Mary Vernoy age 93 of Beale Court Drive Blairsville passed away on Monday July 19, 2010 in the Union County Nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Vernoy was born on May 29, 1917 in Toccoa, GA, the daughter of the late Fielding P. Berrong and the late Ulma Waldroop Berrong. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother. Mrs. Vernoy was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Vernoy are two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Carey Waldrip of Blairsville, Vicki and John Carson of Pittsburg, PA, one sister, Nell Turner of Blairsville, four grandchildren, Carey Waldrip Jr. and wife Chantal, Laura C. Campbell and husband Stan, Todd Carson and Owen Carson, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Monday July 26, 2010 at 11:00am from the Shady Grove Methodist Church with the Rev. Winfred Pitts and Rev. Bob Bone officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Shady Grove Methodist Church or to the Union General Hospital Auxiliary in memory of Mrs. Vernoy. The family will meet with friends following the services.

ROBERT ALAN WOODS
Mr. Robert Alan Woods age 75 of Wild Turkey Rd. Blairsville passed away on Monday July 19, 2010 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Woods was born on May 16, 1935 in Fannin County, the son of the late Roy Woods and the late Ruby Allen Woods. Preceded in death by his first wife Marilyn Navarre Woods and a sister Jeanie Pharr. Robert was owner of PME Inc.(Protect Maintain and Enhance). His 38th AA anniversary would have been Saturday July 24, 2010.He was an All American Diver in his junior and senior year at Trenton High School and also Senior body president at Trenton High School, Trenton, MI. He received a diving scholarship to Michigan State University and later transferred on a diving scholarship to the University of Florida. He was a SEC Champion Diver his junior and senior years at the University of Florida. He is still the only 3 time High School Diving Champion in the State of Michigan.
Surviving Mr. Woods is his loving wife, Betty of Blairsville, two sons and one daughter Rob Woods and wife Carol of Ft. Myers, FL, Brent Woods of Milwaukee, WI., Shea Cotner of Capo Beach, CA, one step son and wife, Scott and Lisa Price, step daughter and husband, Tracy and Robert Von Holle all of Naples, FL. Brothers and sisters Glenda Bird, Phyllis Woods, Richard Woods, Rebecca & Charles Ray Stipe, Beverly & Richard Melrose, Jimmy & Vicki Woods, Sandy & Carl Kurtyka, Sherry & John Feagans, Kathy Laura, Kim & Nick Guzzi, Patty & Don Gendron, Peggy Woods, Roy & Kathy Woods and Randy & Noelle Woods. Step mother Mildred Woods. Grandchildren, Abby, Caleb, Robert, Tyler, Leland, Harper and Rebecca. Two step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 24, 2010 at 11:00am from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association in Mr. Woods memory. The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10-11am.

Mr. Douglas Eugene Wynn age 51 of Trinity Place Blairsville passed away on Tuesday July 20, 2010 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Wynn was born on July 31, 1958 in Miami, FL, the son of John Eston Wynn and Vera Christine Williams Wynn. He was a veteran of the US Army. Douglas was a loving father, brother and grandfather. He was preceded in death by a brother, Milton Edmond Wynn. Mr. Wynn was a member of Pine Top Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Wynn are two daughters and one son-in-law, Jamie Rogers and Fiancee, Jeremy White of Blairsville, Kelly and David Harris of Hiawassee, one son Jonathan Douglas Wynn of Bronson, FL, one sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and Michael Mobley of Dahlonega, one brother, Daniel Wynn of Bushnell, FL, five grandchildren, Kayla Harris, Alexis Rogers, Noah Harris, Deven Harris and Cole White, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 24, 2010 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Kenny White and Rev. Ken Zollinger officiating. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mr. Wynn. The family will meet with friends following the services.

RONALD EUGENE KASSERMAN
Mr. Ronald Eugene Kasserman age 67 of Back To Nature Trail Suches passed away on Wednesday Nov. 12, 2008 at his home following a brief illness. Mr. Kasserman was born on Dec. 21, 1940 in Lakeworth, FL, the son of the late Eugene Kasserman and the late Irene Peake Kasserman.Ronald had lived in Suches for the past twenty years. He loved motorcycles and Nascar racing. Mr. Kasserman was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Kasserman are one son, Ronald Kasserman of Suches, one daughter, Delight Michelle Kasserman of Live Oaks, FL, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held on Monday Nov. 17, 2008 at 12:00pm from Mr. Kasserman’s home at Back To The Nature Trail in Suches. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to Back To The Nature Trail in memory of Mr. Kasserman.

Mrs. Valerie Jean Douglas age 41 of El Paso, TX. formerly of Atlanta passed away suddenly at her home. Mrs. Douglas was born on Feb. 14, 1967 in Atlanta, GA, the daughter of Charles Ed Higgins and JoAnn Hunter Higgins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Douglas in 2005.Mrs.Douglas was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Douglas are her parents, Ed and JoAnn Douglas of Blairsville, three children, Jessica Weldon of Carrolton, GA, Amber Barnes of El Paso, TX, Austin Douglas of El Paso, TX, two sisters and one brother-in-law, Deborah and Mike Guidry of Dunwoody, GA, Vivian Yancey of Columbus, GA, three brothers and one sister-in-law, Tommy Higgins of Grayson, GA, Keith and Virginia Higgins of Brunswick, GA, Scott Higgins of Atlanta, one grandson, Philip Weldon of Carrolton, GA, several other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Monday Nov. 17, 2008 at 2:00pm from the Mountain View Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Helton officiating. Special music will be presented by Jessica Weldon and Darryl Flake. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Junior Bridges, Jon Lemmon, Kenneth Hall, Tony Stillwell, Real Desjardins and Woody Woodmansee. Interment will follow in the House of Prayer Church Cemetery. Mr. Kenneth Irwin Cable age 75 of 1055 Main St. Young Harris passed away on Thursday Nov. 13, 2008 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Cable was born on April 4, 1933 in Canton, OH, the son of the late John Thomas Cable and the late Thelma Fay Puett Cable. Kenneth loved square dancing. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Cable. Mr. Cable was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Cable are his loving wife of twenty three years, Peggy Shaw Cable of Canton, GA, one daughter, Cindy Denmark of Young Harris, two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mike and Mary Ellen Cable of Phoenix, AZ., Mitch Cable of Acworth, GA, one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Sue Cable of Naples, FL, three grandchildren, Dana, Dalton and Dawson, two great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
