Mr. Joseph Thomas Vella age 89 of Vella Ridge Lane Hayesville passed away on Wednesday February 1, 2006 in the Murphy Medical Center following an extended illness. Mr. Vella was born on Dec. 25, 1916 in New York City, NY, The son of the late Gennaro Vella. He had retired from the Bulova a Watch company after several years of service. He was preceded in death by Rose Schalaba in 1999.Mr.Vella was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving Mr. Vella are one son and daughter-in-law, Gennaro and Carol Vella of Hayesville, one daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Edward Piwower of Sarasota, FL, one brother, Frank Vella of Babalon, NY, four Grandchildren, Marline Vella, Joseph Vella, Stephen Piwower and Michael Piwower, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services will be held at a later date and will be announced. Interment will follow in the Holy Sepulcher cemetery in Coram, NY.

JOLENE BRIGHT
Mrs. Jolene Bright age 58 of Blue Ridge Hwy Blairsville passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Bright was born on Dec. 16, 1947 in Union County, The daughter of H. A. Rogers and the late Addie Kate Davenport Rogers. She was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. She had retired from Levi’s in Blue Ridge with over thirty five years of service. She was preceded in death by her mother, Addie Kate Rogers in 2000, a brother, Darrell Rogers in 1980 and by a brother-in-law, Larry Holbrook in 2000.Mrs.Bright was a member of Confidence United Methodist Church.
Surviving Mrs. Bright are her loving husband of thirty seven years, Bobby Bright of Blairsville, one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby Joe and Melinda Bright of Blairsville, father, H. A. Rogers of Blairsville one brother, Farrell Rogers of Blairsville, two sisters, Linda Holbrook of Blairsville and Cathy Burrell of Blairsville, two Grandchildren, Joshua Bright and Megan Bright, Nieces, Kim Nix and Penny Tanner, nephews, Dustin and Kevin Rogers, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Strickland, Rev. William Sisum and Rev. Jeff Foster officiating. Special music will be presented by Pat Strickland and Cheri Parker. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Bryan Nix, Jeff Tanner, J. E. Corn, Russell Thomas, Travis Jones and Darren Jones. Interment will follow in the Confidence Methodist Church Cemetery.

ARLIE PEARL GRAHAM
Mrs. Arlie Pearl Graham age 92 of Oak Lane Blairsville formerly of Fayetteville, GA, passed away on Monday Feb. 6, 2006 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Graham was born on Aug. 29, 1913 in Dickson County, TN., The daughter of the late Thomas Lee and the late Ellie Deason Lee. Mrs. Graham was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Graham are one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Bill Cannady of Blairsville, Two Grandchildren, Susan and Mark Applewhite of Suwanee, Scott and Jennifer Cannady of Peachtree City, three Great-Grandchildren, Brady and Owen Applewhite and Danny Cannady, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006 at 11:00 am from the Laurel Hills Cemetery with Phillip Meeks officiating. Mrs. Graham’s family served as pallbearers.

LILLIE DAPHNIE DOCKERY
Mrs. Lillie Daphnie Dockery age 47 of Dockery St. Young Harris passed away on Saturday July 2, 2005 in the Chatuge Regional nursing Home following an extended illness. Mrs. Dockery was born on Sept. 8, 1957 in Rome, GA, the daughter of the late Donald Helton and the late Rosita Shedd Helton. She had been a resident of Towns and Union Counties for the past thirty years. Mrs. Dockery was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mrs. Dockery are her loving husband of fifteen years, Junior Dockery of Young Harris, two daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy and Mike Bitner, Tina Chaes all of Columbus, GA, one son Billy Jones of Columbus, One brother, Kenneth Helton of Calhoun, GA, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Ronald Dunn of Caloun, Frankie Cooper of Waynesville, GA, Tracy Allen of Fairmount, GA, Michelle and Edgar Lee of Blairsville, two grandchildren, Kasey and Cody, Many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Monday, July 4, 2005 at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rogers officiating. Lillie's favorite selection of hymns were presented for the funeral. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Tommy Dockery, James Dockery, Jeffrey Dunn, Harold Henderson, Ronnie Dunn, Justin Helton, Brian Ellis, Ronald Dunn and Wesley Hooper. Interment followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery.

CECIL LEE ANDERSON
Mr. Cecil Lee Anderson age 40 of Picklesimer Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday July 5, 2005 in the Union General Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Anderson was born on Oct. 15, 1964 in Union County, The son of Robert Anderson and Donnie Grant Anderson. He was a native and lifelong resident of Union County. Mr. Anderson was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Mr. Anderson are his parents, Robert and Donnie Anderson of Blairsville, Five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Ann and Ottis Franklin of Blairsville, Brenda and John Chambers of Blairsville, Dora Appel Cook of Blairsville, Becky and Tim Rich of Blairsville, Peggy and Ken Denning of Blairsville, two brothers and one sister-in-law, James Anderson of Blairsville, Brandon and Milisia Anderson of Blairsville, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services were held on Friday, July 8, 2005 at 11:00 am from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stacy Dyer and Rev. Brent Chatham officiating. Special music was presented by the Kelley Trio. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Travis Gibson, David Franklin, Kenny White, Charles Gibson, Chris Anderson, Melvin Gibson, Tim Rich. Serving as honorary pallbearers were, Ottis Franklin and Charlie Payne. Interment followed in the Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

LOUIS EDWARD BIGGER
Mr. Louis Edward Bigger age 89 of Stonehenge Drive Blairsville passed away on Wednesday July 13, 2005 at his residence following a brief illness. Mr. Bigger was born on Sept. 30, 1915 in Parlier, CA, The son of the late James Edward Bigger and the late Mabel Feit Bigger. He had retired from the Madera, CA. Elementary School where he served as Principle for over thirty five years. He also retired as CEO from the Madera Federal Credit Union with thirty five years of service. He was preceded in death by a son, James Edward Bigger in 1998 and by a sister, Lois Guyett in 2005.Mr.Bigger was a member of the CA. Retired Teachers Assc., A member of the Masonic Lodge in Madera, And also was a member of the Madera Presbyterian Church.
Surviving Mr. Bigger are one son and daughter-in-law, John and Joyce Bigger of Warne, NC, eight grandchildren, John Riley Bigger of Fresno, Ca., Kelli Marie Romero, Brett, Shawn, Chad and Bryan Bigger all of Santa Maria, CA, twelve great-grandchildren, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Memorial services and interment will be held from the Madera Cemetery in Madera, Ca. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be to Regency Hospice of N.E. Georgia, P.O. box 494 Hiawassee, GA.30546 in Mr. Bigger’s memory.

DALTON R. HOWELL
Mr. Dalton Ray Howell age 27 of Mull Rd. Morganton, GA. passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2005 in Van Texas following an accident. Mr. Howell was born on Oct. 31, 1977 in Mobile, AL., The son Gary Howell and Rose Deese Howell. He Graduated from North Georgia College and Georgia Technical School. He had just received his Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. At the time of his death he was employed with Cherokee Heating and Air. One of his favorite past times was bull riding, which he had started competing in at the age of seventeen and had competed in many rodeos in the tri state area.Mr. Howell attended Refuge Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Howell are his Mother and father, Gary and Rose Howell of Morganton, Two sisters and brothers-in-law, Tina and Mike Roberts of Calhoun, Patricia and Johnny Holland of Wildwood, FL, Two brothers and one sister-in-law, Nathan Howell of Blairsville, Johnny and Pam Howell of Calhoun, Nieces and Nephews, Zyndel, Eric, Allen, Stacy, Maria, Dominique and Deonna, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2005 at 2:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Justin Dickey officiating. Special music will be presented by Jason White. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Jason White, Jason Roberts, Joe Roberts, Kevin Taylor, Brannon Elliott, Brent Barry and Mark Johnson.Interment will follow in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

BILLY JOE "B. J." CLARK
Mr. Billy Joe Clark age 43 of Hicks Gap Rd. Blairsville passed away on Tuesday June 26, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Mr. Clark was born on Nov. 10, 1963 in Knoxville, TN., the son of the late Joseph Clark and the late Willie Sowards Clark. He was a lifelong resident of Union County, GA. and Cherokee, County, NC. B. J. loved fishing, hiking, camping and the great outdoors. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and was a big Nascar fan. Music was a big part of his life and in his younger years had played in a band. Mr. Clark was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church.
Surviving Mr. Clark are his wife, Dana Smith Clark of Blairsville, three sons, Casey Shadix of Raleigh, NC, Dustin and Cody Meeker of Blairsville, four daughters, Diamond Clark of Blairsville, Autumn Clark of Hayesville, Journey Clark of Andrews, NC, Kacey Clark of Lake City, FL, three sisters and one brother-in-law, Micki and Randall Pruitt of Lake City, FL, Vicki Croft of Jennings, FL, Samantha Whitner of Andrews, NC, three grandchildren, Natalie, Kaden and Louie Whitt, mother-in-law, Donna Hammond of Blairsville, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Organ Transplant Unit of Piedmont Hospital of Atlanta in Mr. Clark’s memory.

Mr. Joshua Alan (Better known as Josh) Jones age 19 of Brooke Lane Blairsville passed away on Monday July 2, 2007 at his home following a sudden illness. Josh was born on Feb. 25, 1988 in Hall County, GA, the son of Gary Alan Jones and Sheila Morris Jones. He was a lifelong resident of Union County and had attended the Union County School System. He enjoyed Hunting, fishing and being outdoors. His hobbies were riding horses, motorcycles and being with his friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Grover Morris in 1980.Josh was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving Josh are his parents, Gary and Sheila Jones of Blairsville, two brothers, Joey Jones of Blairsville and Jamie Lunsford of Blairsville, maternal grandmother, Viva Morris of Suches, paternal grandparents, Arnold and Billie Jones of Blairsville, several aunts, uncles, cousins, many other relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 2:00pm from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. William Sisum, Rev. Chad Sisum and Rev. Randolph Jones officiating. Special music will be presented by Casey and Britt Jones. The following gentleman will serve as pallbearers, Stuart Whitener, Matthew Whitener, Pepper Ledbetter, David Burrell, Christopher Ledbetter, Mitchell Foster, Little Randy Ledford and Josh Cook. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Jones, Travis Jones, Randy Ledford, Jason Lunsford, Cody Thomason and Gary Foster. Interment will follow in the Liberty Hill Methodist Cemetery.The family will meet with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening after 6:00pm.
