Charles was born on August 2nd, 1920 east of Fremont to Charlie and Laura Rimmer Hults. He was united in marriage to Vera Knott in Lancaster, Missouri on October 18th, 1941. A graduate of Fremont High School, Charles was a farmer and also worked as a feed salesman with the Moorman Co. for 18 years. He was a member of the Fremont Baptist Church. His memory is honored by his wife Vera of Fremont, four daughters; Charlene Woodard and husband Lloyd of Fremont, Carol Hufferd and husband Steven of Arlington, TX, Connie Reynolds-Mathison and husband Michael of Arvada, CO, and Crystal Randell and husband Robert of Oskaloosa; his nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, his sister, Lucille Porter and husband Vernon of Hedrick and his brother, Martin W. Hults of El Cajon, California. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Doris Garbett. Pallbearers will be Bryan Hufferd, Shawn Reynolds, Eric Woodard, Todd Gingrich, Rodney Porter and Randy Sieren. Honorary pallbearers are Dean Horras, Merle Morrison, Ellis Hoskins, Wayne Bonnett, Vernon Porter, Jeff Allen, Kevin Dawson, and Russell Franzen. Elma was born July 24th, 1910 at Numa, Iowa to William B. and Blanche Albertson Frazell. She was united in marriage to Gilbert Leo Best on May 24th, 1930 in Kirksville, MO. Elma was a graduate of Mystic High School and was a housewife and homemaker for most of her life. An Ottumwa resident for 50 years, she had also worked at the Munitions Plant in Des Moines during WWII. Elma was a member of the King’s Daughters, FISH, and was a Home Finding Foster parent. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, making jewelry and bird watching. Elma was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Ottumwa and most recently had attended the First Baptist Church in Ottumwa. Her memory is honored by her daughter, Wanda J. Doak of Hedrick; her five grandchildren; Carla Doak of Hedrick, Corby Phillips of Keota, David Doak of Bellbrook Ohio, Douglas Doak of University Park and Glen Doak of Anthem Arizona, her 14 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and her sister, Wanda M. Evelyn was born on December 16, 1939 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Merrill and Pauline Clark Adams. She attended Hedrick Community School. She was united in marriage to Richard Craft on January 16, 1957 at the Hedrick Christian Church. She was employed at Everco Industries from 1976 to 1997. She served as a CNA at Pennsylvania Place in Ottumwa, until retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Hedrick Christian Church. Evelyn’s memory is honored by her husband Richard of Hedrick, three children Diana Rugg and her husband Robert of Omaha, Nebraska, Tracy and his wife Julie of Herndon, Virginia, Rick and his wife Rosemarie of Colorado Springs, Colorado, seven grandchildren, two sisters; Pat and her husband Albert Kuntz of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathy and her husband Phil Manley of Anamosa, Iowa, and one brother; Jerry Swanson and his wife Bonnie of Chickasaw, Alabama. Mrs. Clingman was born near Lamonia, Iowa September 6, 1912 the daughter of Arthur and Eva Newberry Downey. She had lived in several small towns in southern Iowa including Hedrick and Fremont. Dorothy was united in marriage to Willard Clingman in Fairfield, Iowa on July 6th, 1932. Dorothy and Willard lived in Fremont before moving to Ankeny Sunny View Care Center in November 1995. She and her husband farmed and worked as school custodians for several years. She also worked in the Dietary Department at St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa, Iowa until retiring in 1986. She is survived by her husband Willard, two daughters Evelyn McClure of Des Moines, Fran Vetter of Alleman, and a son LaVerne Clingman of Fremont, Iowa. Seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Bobby Keith in infancy, a sister; Ruth Copeland, and two brothers; Roy and Donald Downey. Katherine E. Leathers, age 80, of Fremont died Sunday, July 20th, 2003 at the mahaska County Hospital in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was born December 31, 1922 in Hayesville, Iowa the daughter of Lloyd M. and Thressie Fern Yeoman Keasling. She was married to Charlie Pearson on March 2nd, 1944 in Sigourney. he died in October 1966. She married David Leathers, November 17th, 1974 in Fremont. He died in August 1983. She worked at the Big Smith Overall Factory in Oskaloosa for 18 years. A 1942 graduate of Fremont High School. Mrs. Leathers formerly attended the Fremont Nazarene Church and enjoyed quilting. Brian Dale Smith was born on May 28th, 1957 in Iowa Falls, Iowa, the son of K. Dale and Carol Waggoner Smith. At age 11, he and his family moved to Marshalltown. Brian was a 1975 graduate of Marshalltown High School and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Religion & Philosophy from Judson College in Elgin, IL. In 1987, he earned his Masters degree in Divinity from the Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard, IL. Brian had served in the United States Army from 1978 until 1983 and was stationed in Turkey and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. He had served as pastor at churches in Illinois, Ohio and Iowa and had recently been installed as the pastor of the Ollie Baptist Church. His memory is honored by his three daughters; Ashleigh, Alayna and Allison Smith all of Marshalltown; his son Andrew also of Marshalltown; his parents, K. Dale and Carol Smith of Marshalltown; his three sisters; Penny Smith of Peoria, IL, Candy Smith of Monmouth, IL and Wendy Monahan and husband Mike of Peoria, IL; his brother, Brad Smith and wife Lisa of Las Vegas, NV and several nieces and nephews. Brian was an avid reader and historian and enjoyed bike riding and playing games with his family. He had also been active in the Ollie Historical Society. Robert Lee Sloan age 37, of Clarence, Iowa and formerly of the Richland area died at his home on Wednesday, July 16th, 2003. He was born on January 4th, 1966 in Waynesboro, PA to Charles and Lina Vansteen Sloan. He married Becky Russell in 1984 and they had three children. He had lived in Ottumwa and Eldon before moving to Clarence in 1999. There, he lived with his companion, Jennifer Schmidt and their son. Robert was a talented artist, a Dale Earnhardt fan and enjoyed working on cars. He is survived by his three sons; Jeremy Lee Sloan aned Robert Jay Sloan both of Eldon and Seth Brian Sloan of Clarence; a daughter Amber Lynn Sloan of Eldon; a brother Charles Sloan and his wife Jennifer of Hedrick. He was preceded in death by his parents. Robert attended the Pekin school. Memorials may be made to his family.

Mae Hawk was born December 6th, 1909 near Fowler, Kansas one of four children. Her parents were John and Grace Dudgeon of Hedrick, Iowa. She was preceded in death by two brothers; Ross Dudgeon of Wapello, Iowa and Lloyd Dudgeon of Des Moines, Iowa. She is survived by a brother; Clare Dudgeon and his wife Marjorie of Lakewood, California, two children; Helen Hedlund and her husband Don of Hedrick, Iowa, and Clifford Hawk and his wife Carolyn of Slidell, LA; two grandchildren; Charlotte Scales and Susan Warren both of Frisco, Texas and five great-grandchildren. Mae and her husband Merlin lived on a farm northeast of Hedrick until 1959 when they moved to Golden, Colorado, then to Arvada, Colorado in 1965, then back to Fremont, Iowa in 1995. In 2000, Mae moved to Sylvan Woods Assisted Living facility and then to Vista Woods Nursing Unit in 2002 after suffering two strokes. She was an accomplished musician playing the piano, guitar, and organ in various churches and community events. Mae is fondly remember by everyone who knew her as she was a Godly wife, hoemmaker, mother and grandmother who always made the people she met feel at home. She was a member of the Fremont Baptist Church. enjoyed traveling and teaching Sunday School. Mae graduated from Hedrick High School in 1928. Beverly Corrine Cowman was born September 14th, 1930 in Oskaloosa, Iowa to John Joseph and Marcella M.Maughan Kilfoil. She was raised and educated in Cicero, Illinois until the 11th grade and then she moved to Rose Hill where she lived with her grandmother and graduated from Rose Hill High School in 1949. After graduation she returned to Chicago and worked as a nurses aide in Berwyn, Illinois. Beverly married Ronald Eugene Goodwin in 1950. She later married Jerald Cowman on January 3rd, 1953 at the Oskaloosa Christian Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Survivors include her husband; Jerald, sons; Dennis and his wife Mary Goodwin of Fremont and Randy and his wife Penny of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren; Dana Benton, Cree Goodwin, Justin, Nathan, and Ryan Cowman, three great grandchildren; Cole and Gabe Benton and Hunter Cowman, and her twin sister Betty Miller of West Burlington, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents. Beverly's hobbies included gardening, needlework, camping, reading and spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She was raised and educated in the Cincinnati area and later moved to Martinsburg where she owned and operated her own restaurant for many years. She is survived by a son; Chuck Manges of Shreveport, LA, two grandchildren, Craig and Corey Manges and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her second husband in 1992 and five brothers.

Walter "Junior" Brown was born June 1st, 1924 in rural Kirkville, Iowa to Walter and Maggie Newell Brown. He was raised and educated in the Kirkville area. He was united in marriage to Rosemary Failyer, November 8th, 1941 in Lancaster, Missouri. He farmed his entire life in the Fremont, Ottumwa, and Sigourney areas. In later years he worked at Keoco Auction in Sigourney. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary, a daughter; Frances Teeter of Ottumwa, two sons, James and his wife Cindy Brown of Fremont, and Michael and his wife Janice Brown of Sigourney, seven grandchildren Nick and Amy Caves, Bruce and Ruth Caves, Todd and Christine Caves, Staci and Stacy Ruby, Brandon Brown, Tracy and Michael Jones, and Trisha Brown; 17 great-grandchildren; Joshua nd Kristi Caves, Nikkol and Adam Rowe, Lindsay, Casey, Gavin, Dillon, Heather, Ashley, Tucker, Taylor, Morgan, and Bryan Caves, Alesia and Michael Brown, Ryan and Lucas Ruby, and Alicia Brown; 1 great-great grandchild; Lane Rowe, and a sister; Mildred Venator of New Sharon. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Howard and Robert Brown and a grandson; Aaron Brown. Junior was raised and educated in the Kirkville area. Junior was a member of the Eagles. He enjoyed square dancing, watching western movies, and giving people a "hard" time. His hobbies included showing mules at the Keokuk County Fair, the Keokuk county Expo, the Iowa State Fair, and many area parades. He also enjoyed the Fort Madison Trail Ride with his mules, "Ruth" and "Molly", and attending auto races. Memorials may be made in his name to the family.

Keith Franklin Wonderlich age 79, of Ollie passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa of cancer. Mr. Wonderlich was born May 30th, 1923 in rural Ollie to Frank and Ethel Halferty Wonderlich. He worked at International Harvester in Moline, Illinois, the Ordinance Plant in Middleton, Falco in Fairfield, and then worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker for the remainder of his life. Keith's memory is honored by his wife Trilla Weber Kessel Wonderlich, Craig Wonderlich and his wife Kathy of Silvis, Illinois, Donald Wonderlich and his special friends Ren Ella Crawford, Jeff Wonderlich and his wife Yvonne, and Terry Wonderlich and his wife Rhonda, all of Ollie. A daughter; Ann and her husband Steve Whipple of Milan, Illinois. Two stepchildren Mike and Cecilia Kessel Adam of Richland, and Richard Kessel also of Richland. A daughter-in-law Janie Wonderlich of Aurora, Colorado. Ten grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, a son Michael, his wife Betty Ann Sloan Wonderlich, a daughter-in-law Cheryl McVay Wonderlich, and two brothers; Harland and Waldo Wonderlich. Keith served in the US Army during WWII with the 36th Cavalry Recon. Squad during the European Theater Operation. Mr. Wonderlich attended Ollie Consolidated School. Keith's enjoyments included his home, his family, landscaping, and his pond where he enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Ollie Baptist Church, the Elks Club, Eagles, American Legion Post #504 of Richland, and the VFW. Blanche L. Pearson was born on February 3, 1903 in Tioga, Iowa the duaghter of Calvin and Lena Taylor Wymore. She was united in marriage on March 10th, 1920 to John L. Pearson at Squire Beacon's in Oskaloosa. Blanche spent her life as a homemaker and raising her five children. In 1973 John and Blanche moved from the farm into Oskaloosa. Blanche's memory is honored by her daughter Rebecca Krusemark of Oskaloosa, two daughter-in-laws; Doris Pearson of Albia, and Geraldine Pearson of Hiawatha, Iowa, nine grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great and great-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, three sons; Donald, Glenn, and Joseph E. "Gene" Pearson, a daughter; Ila Mae Pearson, three brothers; Glenn De Witt, Gerald Havens, and Woodrow Havens, and four sisters; Nellie Selvy, Irene Arnold, Fern Johnson, and Zelma Noe. Mrs. Pearson was educated in the Tioga area and attended the North Taylor Country School. After completing school she took care of her grandmother and other elderly people in the area. Blanche enjoyed raising flowers, gardening, canning and rocking and loving her granchildren. She was a member of the Tioga Church where she taught Sunday and Bible school. A memorial has been established in her name.

Harriet was born on April 22, 1912 in rural Cedar, Iowa the daughter of Guy and Jessie Johnson Pomeroy. Harriet was united in marriage to Dale Lee in rural Fremont. After marriage she spent her life being a homemaker and raising her children. She lived in rural Fremont from 1935 until 1960 and then moved into Fremont where she resided until 2002 when she moved to Pleasant Park Estates in Oskaloosa. Harriet was a seamstress. Harriet's memory is honored by her four sons; Richard Lee and wife Gloria of Rockwall, TX., Ed Lee of Lawrence, KS, Robert Lee and wife Dianna of Yorkville, IL., and Mike Lee and wife Ruth of Bartlett, TN, two daughters Nancy Schlobohm of East Peoria, IL.,and Mary Goolsby and husband Jimmy of Austin, TX, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, and a son Danny Lee, a brother, Orle Pomeroy, and a sister, Florence Myers. Mrs. Lee graduated from Fremont High School in 1930. She then attended William Penn College in Oskaloosa for two years. After completing school Harriet started teaching country school. She taught at the Bluff Creek Country School near Eddyville from 1932 until 1934 and then at the Shiloh Country School near Fremont in 1935. Harriet's hobbies included sewing and doing crafts. A memorial has been established in her name.

Gary was united in marriage to Karen Wilkinson July 14, 1961 at the Selma United Methodist Church. They lived in Ottumwa and moved to Hedrick in 1971. Gary was employed at Morrells in Ottumwa for 12 years until their closing in 1972. He began farming with Don Beck as well as with Glen Bakehouse, Kielkopf Inc., and Brian Emery. He began working for Vermeer Mfg. until ill health forced him to retire in 1998. Mr. Smith is survived by his mother Alice Smith of Hedrick, his wife Karen, two daughters Debra and her husband Ralph Martin of LaGrange, Missouri, and Jacqueline and her husband Doug Eppard of Johnston, Iowa. Three grandsons, Tyler and Tucker Martin and Lincoln Eppard and one granddaughter; Bailey Eppard. He was preceded in death by his father Walter Smith, and two brothers; Walter Eugene Smith in infancy, and Charles Eugene Smith who passed away February 20th, 1990. Mr. Smith graduated from Selma High School in 1960. Gary was a member of the Hedrick/Martinsburg United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Hedrick Lions Club. Samuel Ray Sauer 98, of Fremont died Monday, March 10, 2003 at Ridgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ottumwa, Iowa due to complications following a broken hip. Mr. Sauer was born February 23rd, 1905 near Farson, Iowa the son of George and Theresa Meier Sauer. Samuel was united in marriage to Irene Robbins June 2nd, 1926 in Martinsburg, Iowa. He began farming west of Hedrick in 1930 until 1965 when he sold his farm and moved to Fremont in 1966. Mr. Sauer was a member of the Fremont Baptist Church and a former member of the Hedrick Baptist Church. Samuel is survived by his brothers; Howard M. Sauer of Brookings, South Dakota and Kenneth Sauer of Grass Valley, California and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, November 30th, 2001, his parents, five brothers; Harry, Earl, Herald, Lloyd, and Lyman Sauer and five sisters; Evalena Denny, Blanche Crittenden, Alice Hooks, Olie Stansberry Decker, and Genevieve Hooks. He attended Farson and Martinsburg Schools graduating from Martinsburg High School in 1924. He attended Cedar Falls Teachers College and taught school in Farson, Iowa. Funeral services for Mr. Sauer will be held Wednesday, March 12th, 2003 at 1:30 P.M. at the Fremont Baptist Church with Rev. Marion McCoy officiating. There will be no visitation. Pallbearers will be;Arlo Sauer, John White, Eugene Meier, Michael Crosby, Clair Albertson, and Harold Roquet. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Warren Jones and Dr. Everett Jones. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemeteryin Ottumwa, Iowa. Richard Hawthorne Perkins was born July 25th, 1929 in Iowa City, Iowa to the late Dr. F.C. Perkins and Fern Perkins. He was united in marriage to Mary K. Hutton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Dr. Roger Perkins. He is survived by his wife and a son Brian Perkins. Mr. Perkins served four years in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, working with civilian psychologists on testing programs for incoming service men. Richard graduated from Hedrick High School, Hedrick, Iowa and the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. During his career Mr. Perkins held the position of Administrative Marketing Manager for the Great Lakes Region, Falstaff Brewing Corp. in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Later in his career he was employed in marketing with Allen Business Machines, Inc. During these years he served as an advisor to the Junior Chamber of Commerce; a board member of the Better Business Bureau; and was a past president of the Lions Club. He was a vestry member at Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church and a member of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, Inc. A memorial has been established in his name to Kate Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston Salem, North Carolina.

Mrs. Clark was born on January 25th, 1912 in Fremont, IA to Marion and Nancy Belle Bert Rogers. She was raised in Fremont and later moved Beacon. Mabel was united in marriage to Henry Boldoser on July 15th, 1930 in Sigourney. They settled near Hedrick and farmed for many years. She married Sam Clark on December 4th, 1962 in Osage, IA. After his death, Mabel moved to Fremont. She had lived in Oskaloosa before moving to Sigourney in 1995. She is survived by a stepson, Tom Clark of Kenosha, WI, a stepdaughter, Cora Ellen Peterson of Isanti, MN, seven step-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Kielkopf was born on January 29, 1915 west of Hedrick, Iowa to Phillip J. and Myrtle Bergman Kielkopf. He graduated from Hedrick High School in 1933. Edwin was united in marriage to Helen Davis, September 1, 1937. He began working the farm that had been in his family since 1885. He continued to farm in the Hedrick area until 1974 when he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. He also raised purebred Black Angus Cows. He and his wife Helen lived in the home that he was born in until his passing. He was a member of the Garfield Lodge in Hedrick and a member of the Hedrick/Martinsburg United Methodist Church. Edwin's memory is honored by his wife Helen of Hedrick, his daughter Renne Robbins and her husband Ray of Cedar Rapids, Iowa two granddaughters; Susan Gail and her husband Ken, and Jennifer Robbins and two great-grandchildren; Tyler and Brittany Gail. Frances Craft was born November 9th, 1918 in Hedrick, Iowa to Marion and Kathryn Kriese Craft. She is survived by her two sisters; Louise Hankammer of Oak Grove, MO. and Joan Norris and her husband Keith of Hedrick, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Arthur and Carl Craft and a sister, Inez Craft. A 1937 graduate of Hedrick High School she moved to Minnesota later that year. She had worked for General Refineries, Inc. and also Telex, Inc. in Minneapolis before her retirement in 1984. An Ottumwa resident since 1987, Frances was a member of the Hedrick Christian Church and enjoyed traveling with her friends.

Richard L. Craft was born on April 26th, 1937 in Ottumwa, IA, the son of Carl & Ollie Abrams Craft. A Hedrick resident his whole life, he had worked for Hedrick Community Schools and at Edgerly’s in Ottumwa. On January 16th of 1957, Richard was united in marriage to Evelyn Adams at the Hedrick Christian Church. He had been self-employed for many years and was also a member of the Hawkeye State Archeological Society. Richard’s memory is honored by his mother, Ollie Craft of Hedrick, his two sons; Rick Craft and wife Rosemarie of Colorado Springs, CO and Tracy Craft and wife Julie of Herndon, VA, his daughter, Diana Rugg and husband Robert of Omaha, NE, seven grandchildren and a brother, Donald Craft and wife Cheryl of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his father, his wife Evelyn in November 2002, a son, Danny Craft and a grandson, Kyle Craft. A memorial fund has been established in his name.

William Russell Weinhold was born on February 2nd, 1948 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of Harold and Dorothy Snyder Weinhold. He was raised and educated in St. Louis and was trained under the Union Local 2158 Apprenticeship. Bill was united in marriage to Edna Hutchens on October 8th of 1966 in St. Louis, MO. They moved to Iowa in 1977 and had lived in Long Grove and Hedrick before moving to Ollie in 1988. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. His memory is honored by his wife, Edna Weinhold of Ollie, his son, Bill and wife Jodi Weinhold of Ollie, his three daughters; Cathy and her husband Scott Ingle of Ollie, Shawn and her husband Todd Heckethorn of Ollie, and Mary and her husband Ron Loyd of Hedrick, his parents Harold and Dorothy Weinhold of St. Louis, MO, his two sisters; Betty Weinhold, and Jeannie and her husband Mike Jones all of St. Louis, MO, his ten grand-children, two step-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and numerous loved ones. Harold Ray Ingle was born on August 12th, 1920 in Ollie, Iowa the son of Mart and Ella McWilliams Ingle. He attended Ollie School, graduating in 1939. He was united in marriage to Agnes Davis on April 4, 1940 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. He had worked for a construction company and owned and operated the Conoco Gas Station in Ollie for over 50 years until his death. Mr. Ingle attended the Ollie Baptist Church, was a member of the Ollie Masonic Lodge and enjoyed raising his cattle. His memory is honored by his daughter, Judy Fair and her husband Charles of Keota and a daughter-in-law, Jan Ingle of Sigourney. A brother, Dale Ingle and his wife Evelyn of Ollie, a sister-in-law Delores Ingle of Ollie, his sister Elsie Bottorff of Ohio, his eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great-great-grand-children and several nieces and nephews. Doris Marie Wolf was born on March 10th, 1914 in Highland Center, Iowa, the daughter of Dr. James & Grace Miller Williams. She attended Highland Center School and graduated from Hedrick High School in 1931. She attended Parsons College and taught school at Highland Center for several years. On February 22nd of 1936, Doris was united in marriage to Frank Wolf in Ottumwa, Iowa. A homemaker for most of her life, Doris had lived in Wapello County until moving to Hedrick in 1962. She had also worked at the Ottumwa Hospital, retiring in 1976. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and traveling and had participated in 4-H with her children. Doris was also a member of the Roaming Dear Camping Club and the Highland Quilting Club. Her memory is honored by her husband Frank of Hedrick, her son, Roger Wolf and wife Sharon of Brighton, CO, her three daughters; Carolyn Doak and husband Dick of Franklin, TN, Marilyn Steinaway and husband Jerry of Hedrick and Judy Messerschmitt and husband Dick of St. George, UT, her brother, Chester Williams of Cheyenne, WY, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Leroy was born July 30th, 1940 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to Lenard and Edith Havel Shull. He was raised and educated in the Lockridge area, near Mt. Pleasant, and also attended Packwood High School. On June 7th, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sue Leffler in Washington, Iowa. They settled in the Farson-Hedrick area. He had worked for the Packwood Elevator, McCurdy's Seed Company, and had driven a truck for Steve Roquet. He also farmed in the Martinsburg-Farson area. His memory is honored by his wife, Sue of rural Hedrick, his three sons; John of Hedrick, Fred of Oskaloosa, and Ernie of Hedrick, four grandchildren; Brett, Brandi, Nicole and Alexis Shull and his siter, Marilyn Conger of Martinsburg. Mrs. Roquet was born September 30, 1911 south of Fremont to Francis A. and Lena Dinsmore Rhoads. She graduated from Fremont High School in 1931. She was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church and charter president of the Sew & So Club established in the 1930's in the Fremont community. She married Dale C. Roquet, January 25th, 1933 at the Christian Church in Oskaloosa. He preceded her in death May 15, 1987. They lived in the Fremont area all their lives, farming and raising Angus cattle. She continued living on the farm and helping with decisions about the farm until 2000. Seeing her health deteriorating, 19 of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren met from all over the country for Thanksgiving this year. Mrs. Roquet is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law; Paul E. and Betty Roquet of Walla Walla, Washington, and David C. and Cherie Roquet of Jefferson, Iowa. A daughter and son-in-law; Joan L. Roquet Morgan and her husband Joseph Morgan of Farson; a brother, Ward P. Rhoads of Ottumwa; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters; Hazel Aldridge, Florence McBeth, Lucille Davis, Edna Rhoads, and Eva Swanson; and three brothers; Floyd, Raymond and Lowell Rhoads. Memorials may be made in her name to either the Fremont United Methodist Church or the Fremont Rescue Unit.

Juanita Mae Miller was born on November 17th, 1908 in Tina, Missouri, the daughter of William B. and Minnie Mae Yehle Wilson. After graduating from high school at LaJunta, Colorado, she was united in marriage to Orville Neil Miller on April 5th, 1926 in Rocky Ford, Colorado. They had lived in California and Arizona and, after returning to Colorado, retired and settled in Hedrick in 1971. Juanita had lived at Hedrick Housing for several years and was an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She had also attended the Union Chapel Church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Her memory is honored by her two daughters; Lois Carter of Hedrick and Dorothy Miller of Loch Buie, Colorado; her brother, William R. Wilson of Denver, Colorado, her eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. The Missions Fund of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ottumwa.
