DARWIN RAY WIRTH
Funeral services for Darwin Ray Wirth of Escondido, CA were held Thursday, July 24, 2005 at the Greenwood Salli Lynn Chapel in San Diego. Entombment was in the Greenwood Bible Mausoleum in San Diego.
Darwin was born near Hawleyville in Page County, IA on July 26, 1930, the first child of Ray Harley and Lela Ethelene (Diggs) Wirth; and died Sunday, July 10, 2005 at his home of a sudden heart attack.
He began school at the Hawleyville School, later moving to the New Market area and attending the Dallas Center School. The family then moved to the Nodaway and later Villisca areas. He graduated from Villisca High School in 1948.
He was united in marriage to Anna Marie Rhamy on August 29, 1948. A son, Norman, and daughters, Diana and Teri, were born to this union. He later divorced and married Darlene Angell of San Diego on December 8, 1972.
Following high school graduation, he worked as a bookkeeper for Tyler Brothers in Villisca. In 1949, he became office manager for Parris Manufacturing in Clarinda and Savannah, TN. He returned to Iowa in June 1954, and became assistant manager of the Creston Seed Company. He moved his family to San Diego in 1959, where he was office manager of Wright Refrigeration. In 1960, he began work as a bookkeeper/estimator for Convair/General Dynamics in San Diego. He was chosen employee of the year while at General Dynamics. He retired in 1991. Mr. Wirth lived in San Diego County 45 years with the last thirty years in Escondido.
He served in the Iowa National Guard from 1947 to 1951.
Darwin enjoyed sports, especially baseball, both playing and coaching. He coached his son's team to a championship. He and his wife were members of a camping club and enjoyed many outings. He participated in playing golf up to the time of his death. Darwin was an avid reader and self-educated man.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Delmar Wirth.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-two years, Darlene Wirth of Escondido, CA; son, Norman Wirth of Lohman, MO; daughters: Diana Wirth of Nixa, MO; Teri Vertree and husband Jim of Clever, MO; Karen Foshey and husband George of Santee, CA; sisters, Ruby Walter and husband Franklin of Nodaway, IA, and Carolyn Curry and husband Terry of Corning, IA; brother, Gail Wirth and wife Barbara of Elgin, TX; sister-in-law, Marlene Wirth of Tabor, IA; grandchildren: Jeremy Wirth, wife Kelli and daughters Taylor and Jade of Fort Collins, CO; Erica Bates, husband Chris and sons Jalen and Kai of Fort Collins; Kaleb Vertree of Clever, MO; George Foshey, Jeff Foshey, Jennifer Brady and husband Patrick, all of Santee, CA.
CHARLES BILLINGS
Charles Billings, age 74, of Clarinda, Iowa, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Care Center, Villisca, Iowa.
Charles Allen Billings was born October 13, 1930, at Riverton, Iowa, to Harry Billings and Genevia (Reid) Billings. He was a graduate of Clarinda High School and attended Armstrong Tile School in Pennsylvania. Charles served in the United States Army 11/26/1951 -04/13/1953 during the Korean conflict. He was married to Shirley Babbitt. On September 2, 1984 he was united in marriage to Sarah (Hazelton) Larson.
Charles was a tile setter apprentice 1949-1951 at Stokes Company, Kansas City, Missouri. Following his service in the army, Charles was custodian for the Kansas City School district and retired from that position. He also did custodial work for the Knox Presbyterian Church, Overland Park, Kansas. Charles was a life member of D.A.V. and V.F.W. Glenn Miller Post. He enjoyed traveling and also enjoyed music and sports.
Preceding Charles in death were his parents; brothers, Harold Billings and Richard Timmer.
Survivors include his wife Sarah of Clarinda, Iowa; sons, Richard A. Billings and wife Diane of Longmont, Colorado, Stephen R. Billings of Denver, Colorado; step-children, Glenna Cade and Rick Leeson of Clarinda, Iowa, Stephen Larson of Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren, Tammy LaPorte and husband Ryan, Terri Geer, Stacy Larson and fiancé Thomas Frantz, Eric Larson and wife Brandi Sheila McReynolds, Jannessa McReynolds,; seven great grandchildren, sisters, Donna Graham of Kansas City, Missouri, Jane Keisery of Boulder, Colorado, Ann Wittaker and husband Ren of Marion, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Rev. Dan Wiebesiek officiating. Visitation with the family will be 7-8 p.m. Monday, August 01, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Memory Cemetery, New Market, Iowa with military rites by American Legion Post 98 and V.F.W. Post 9230. Memorials may be directed to Children's Square USA (a children's home in Council Bluffs, Iowa). Walker-Merrick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Francis Winter
Frances Winter, age 85, of Clarinda, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at the Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa.
Frances Mae Winter was born November 30, 1919, at Harlan, Iowa, and adopted by Herbert Davis and Ethel (Troy) Davis in 1929. She was a graduate of Clarinda High School and received her B.S. from Northwest Teachers College, Maryville, Missouri.
Frances was united in marriage July 26, 1951 at her parent's home, Clarinda, Iowa, to Douglas Winter. She was an Elementary School Teacher having taught in one room country school houses in Page County, Iowa. She also taught in Oregon, Missouri, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Michigan City, Illinois, Hannibal, Missouri, and retired from the Clarinda Community School in 1985 for a total of 36 years. Frances was an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clarinda, Iowa. She taught Sunday School, was a member of the Church Circles, served on the Session board, and the Women's Presbytery. She was also a member of the Page-Taylor Retired Teacher's Association and the Friendly Neighborhood Club. Frances was a pianist and violinist and loved music. She played with the Nodaway Valley Symphony and she also sang with the Farm Bureau Chorus. Frances also enjoyed gardening, flowers, and was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and was looking forward to her first great grandchild.
Preceding Frances in death were her parents; brothers, Bill Davis, Jim Chantry; sisters, Theo May Davis as an infant, Margaret Long and Glenda Lee Wolfe.
Survivors include her husband Douglas of the home; daughters, Ellen F. Hunt of Grant City, Missouri, Eileen K. Beck and husband Dennis of Rifle, Colorado, Elaine Rae Mitchell and husband Vern of Parnell, Missouri; grandchildren, Jennifer Hunt, Kerri Simpson and husband Darren, Brandon Hunt, Sharon Hunt, Jonathon Mitchell and wife Jessica; sister, Doris Brown of Carroll, Iowa; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Chantry of Atlantic, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 29, 2005, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clarinda, Iowa with Rev. Mark Wright officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 7-8 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa. Burial will be in the Clarinda Cemetery, Clarinda, Iowa. Charlie H. Wiechmann
Graveside services for Charlie H. Wiechmann, 80, of Villisca, IA will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at the Lincoln Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. A memorial is being established.
Charlie Henry Wiechmann 80, of Villisca formerly of Grant, died Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center, where he had been a resident for the past 5 years. Charlie was born April 22, 1925 in Montgomery County, Iowa the son of Carl Frederick and Emma Pauline (Harmsen) Wiechmann. He grew up around Lincoln Center and Grant. He had lived in Grant since the mid 1960's. Charlie repaired lawn mowers and farmed around Grant. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved dogs and other animals.
Charlie is survived by his children: Carl Wiechmann of Gravity, IA, Amanda Wiechmann, Charlie Wiechmann Jr., and Cimaron Wiechman all of Des Moines, IA. Two grandsons: Michael and Alex of Red Oak, IA. Sisters: Dora Harris of Corning, IA and Virginia Haley of Nodaway, IA, brothers: Bob Wiechman and wife Chris of Nodaway, IA and Harry Wiechman and wife Shirley of Corning, IA. Nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister in law Shirley Wiechman, brothers in law: Edwin Harris and Floyd Haley.
Barbara J. (Bobby) Alexander
Barbara J. (Bobby) Alexander, age 80 years, Hilton Head Island, S.C., formerly of Omaha, NE. Died July 19th 2005.
Preceded in death by parents: Walter and Vivian (Gutshall) Reese.

Curtis Scott Jackson
Curtis Scott Jackson, the son of David L. and Sonia J. (Helm) Jackson was born on July 16, 1990 in Red Oak, Iowa. He died suddenly on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa at the age of 14 years, 11 months and 28 days.
Curtis was an active student in the Red Oak Middle School. Curtis was involved in sports, football, basketball, track, baseball and bowling. He enjoyed swimming and spending time with his friends. Curtis spent time riding his moped, skateboard, trick bike, roller blades, fishing and camping with his family. Curtis was a fine artist and won a National Award this past year. Curtis was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ronald Jackson.
Curtis is survived by his parents, David and Sonia Jackson of Red Oak, IA, his brother, Nicklaus Jackson, a sister, Hilary Jackson, both of the home, grandparents, Kenneth Leroy and Marcia Helm of Red Oak, IA and Dolores Jackson of Villisca, IA, aunts and uncles along with many cousins, a special friend, Ellen Viner, other relatives and a host of friends.

EMIL YESKE
Emil Herman Yeske 79, of Villisca, IA died July 11, 2005, at the Saint Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, following a short hospital stay.
He was born April 4, 1926, in rural Villisca, IA the son of Johnny and Ida (Paten) Yeske, both parents came to the U.S. from Germany.
He grew up and lived all of his life on the farm south of Grant. Emil went to rural elementary school until he joined his parents farm operation. Their primary farming included corn, soybeans, cattle and hogs. He started farming with horses and continued until just last year when he harvested using John Deere Equipment. Emil focused the bulk of his life on working his farm, but he did take time to marry his wife, Katherine Rebecca Carlson on August 8, 1954 in Bethesda, Iowa. They stayed on the farm and raised two sons; John and Paul. Emil's love for tractors had him join the Southwest Iowa Two-Cylinder Club.
Emil is survived by his sons and families: John and wife Kristin of Alton and their children Jennifer, Lisa and Kurt and Paul and wife Lori and their son Adam. Also a cousin Marvin Hopf and wife Evelyn of Orient, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Ida and his beloved wife Katherine.
Funeral services for Emil Yeske 79, of Villisca, Iowa will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday July 15, 2005 at the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Villisca, IA. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Villisca. Memorials may be directed to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
